  1. I'm sure our story is Like many others. Starting with my wonderful husband who works really hard for everything we have. He got a job 2 years ago making hardly enough to survive on, couldn't move up in positions because the company doesn't except diplomas gotten through job corp, because at the time they were considered an online diploma. We've gotten hit with medical bills pretty big, cars stop working, my job is letting us go by August 1st, and to top it off we just found out that the home we have been staying in is being sold, leaving us with no place to go, and no money to get into something new. I don't like change, and one of my biggest fears is not having a nice safe place for my children to live in, and play with no worries. I know we aren't the only family going through a rough time, it's just hard knowing that we work so hard for what we have and want in life, and just when we think we are finally getting somewhere we are pushed 10 feet back and told to start over. When are we ever going to reach a goal of ours? When are we going to prove that we deserve the chance to live the way most dream of. All we want in life is for our kids to have a place they can call home, because neither my husband nor my self ever had a place we could call home.

  2. I am writing to you to tell you about my neighbors. On July 4 of this year their house burned down. They lost everything, including both of their vehicles and their family cat. Over $300,000 worth of damage. They are a very lucky family to have made it out alive. We live in a smaller town that only has a volunteer fire department and by the time they got to the house it was gone.
I would love for them to be considered for the Makeover Home Edition.

  3. I am looking for help for my mother. She is in her 70s. She has spent her whole life helping others. She worked her way up from a social worker to the director of the department of human services for 4 counties. She fought for the rights and safety of children always… while doing this she raised me and my brother as a single mom and maintainEd a mother daughter relationship including regular visits to her two step daughters which she later adopted as adults. My mother had ALWAYS put others first, even when her health depended on it. She retired from the department of human services and went to work part time for the women's crisis center, this turned into full time with grant writing. My husband and I and our children and my mother relocated to arizona. My mother had purchased a house years before when I was young. She still continues to make over 500 dollars a month house payment. When we moved to arizona my mother let my sister in law move into her home. My mother continued to make the house payment and just requested my sister in law pay the utilities. She lived there for several years. My brother and his new girlfriend and her family then moved in and my mother continued to make the house payment. Meanwhile she has left utilities in her name for all parties and had to pay final bills when my sister in law moved out. While in Arizona my mother again took a job at the local women's shelter. My brothers family has included him, the now ex girlfriend, and 6 children between the two. We moved to arizona in 2009. We moved back to iowa in 2013 after my husband passed away suddenly from cancer. My mother helped take care of my 3 children so that I could be at the hospital with my husband for weeks. She helped financially, while making this house payment and her own rent in arizona. My mother was at my husband's bedside long with me when he passed in my home. When we moved back to iowa she renTed another home so that my brother and his family did not need to try and find a place. So again she is paying rent and this house payment. My mother's whole life she has been helping others. Putting others first. Family, her children, other people's children, battered men, women and children. She has tried to retire many times. Now.. that she has been in complete retirement which she deserves, she has shared her rental home with my son as he has went through some emotional distress since his fathered died (as a getaway for him) and now with my brother who was kicked out of the family home while separating from his girlfriend. Last week we returned home from a family reunion to find the ex girlfriend (mother to my brothers children) had moved out of this home that my mother is buying. The home is in horrible shape. There is human and animal urine throughout the home. A leak in almost every pipe which has caused mold, physical damage including a mangled 2 car electric garage door. Missing ceiling tiles and broken shower doors etc. We had an insurance adjuster come today who just doesn't think he an help. My mother does not deserve this. She deserves to be in retirement, in a nice home. She only owes approximarely 20,000 left on this house now however it is not liveable and she has no extra money to fix it. My mother continues to help me financially as it has been so hard to be able to work and take care of my children and their emotional needs since their father has died. And meet all their therapy appointments. My mother is so selfless. Since 2009 my mother has made rent payments and housepayments on this house totalling up to 1000.00 a month. With no help from others. She has now been left with the last electric bill and water bill, all appliances taken including a built in dishwasher that was ripped out and pipes broke and lots of major physical damage from the mother of her grandchildren. I know there are so many people out there deserving of your help. But please, just once I hope and pray our family gets a break in life and you can help my mother with this house. Please look at how this one women has spent her whole life helping other people. She is truly an inspiration to sooooo many she has come in contact with and truly deserves your help!

  4. I'm in need of a Roof and some work done inside the house and can't find any help I'm a single mom and can't afford it and I don't want to lose my house that I worked so hard to pay off no one will finance me cause they say I have bad credit and I have tried everything and have called everyone I can think of for help my ceilings are falling in due to the Roof leaking so I'm in badly need of help please

  5. Hi!! My name is Raven Holton and I'm contacting you in regards to my mom Henrietta. My mom is a great woman who is going through a lot, she had to retire because of her health and is now on a fixed income. She is doing all that she can to survive. I recently had to move my family back home with her because I am also sick. I am a cancer survivor and currently going through a lot with doctor appointments. The problem is her home is in dire need of renovation, there's mold throughout the house, it rains inside the hose because the roof is rotting. It has gotten so bad that raccoons have moved inside the attic. The kitchen ceiling is beginning to cave in and now the raccoons are coming through the hole. Her basements is so full of mold and mildew that it's starting to grow inside the house on the main floor. Because of my illness I am unable to help her financially because I am unable to work because of my health. Her health is already bad and the mold is not helping either of us. Myself and my three children are living with her because I lost my house because of financial hardship. My mom is an extremely good woman who helps us and others as best as she can. She is getting older and she should be comfortable in her home without the worry of raccoons and the outside elements getting in. Please consider picking my mom's home for renovation, I know that I am unable to help her financially and want to help her in this way. I don't know what else to do, it's getting worse by the day. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you!!

    Sincerely,

    Raven Holton

  6. Hi,To whom it may concern: Although I live in a mobile home and can use a real house, I rather nominate my parents for this program. My mom has been through cancer twice. Breast cancer and colon cancer. Presently she still having health issues yet she is now taking care of my dad which had liver transplant. She can be feeling pain yet she continues to take care of my dad which is having difficulties getting out of bed without help. They own a house in Loxahatchee, Fl . which needs a lot of help. I don't have the money to help repair it nor my other brother and sisters. One of my sisters lives there with them, her husband, son and daughter. They help paying with the bills but not enough to make renovations. I will like someone to help them renovate their home so they can enjoy what ever time they have left. They are both 73 but with a lot of health issues. Please consider. Thank you

  8. My name is samantha Hawkins. I am a teenager my mom is a single mom. We have a farm house that was made in the 30s. It is very old and the ceiling in my moms room and in the kitchen have water damage. The walls are bending on the hall wall like it needs to be replaced. I have asthma and my mom has had knew surgrey in February. My knees are messed up as well. I have to help my mom get out of the bath every single day and night. It's so hard for her to get used to this house. Our stairs are very narrow and we don't use the upstairs because the stairs are so small we can barely fit. We have no AC or heat so we have to put in AC units and pay for a gas tank . My mom struggles to keep the gas tank filled during winter because there is only one in the whole house. The 3 front rooms, the walls are cement. Pure cement. So its gets very hot during the summer. And is hot pretty much all the time.. And gets cold during winter but not to bad… I just really would like her to have this house because you know I will be here for a while like when I get older I want to be on this property. This isn't all about me and wanting a bigger house this is about my mom and our animals and just living a healthy life and just getting her what she wants.. Just please do this for my mom. She would live happier and work happier and we have a two story pack house in the back that were working on because my mom is moving her thrift shop. She has no job but that job and she makes good money on the job. But I want her store to be huge where she can fit 2 or 3 sets of furniture not just a couch and say the chair that goes with it is in my house in the storage room because there's no room. I just feel like we would have a better life with this opportunity. Thanks for letting me tell my side of the story. Now please won't you tell me yours?

  9. I hope you can pick my family and it's because My mom works two jobs just to get the rent paid and we live in a house that has no AC in those hot summers and no heat in the winters we don't even have we have just an old farmhouse that is falling apart and that we need a better home for us because there's reallythe floors are ripping and my mom works two jobs just to get everything paid every month and it's hard on her and I want one day where she doesn't have to work a night shift for us just to get money for rent and I Know that it would mean a lot to her if you pick us please and thank you

  10. I hope I get picked because my mother dose everything works 2 jobs and she dose all that she can but our house is a old farm house that yes we do rent and it has no air conditioning or in the winter the heat gets either to cold or to hot and it sucks and we barley get to see her because she works to make sure that the rent is payed by the end of the month and I just wish she could relax and have some quality time with my brothers and I and wish for at least one family dinner without having to go somewhere so we really need you guys to come so we can get a better house for our family please pick us.

  11. I have read some others letters concerning their problems and I wanted to send something in but I began to feel like, wait a minute I don't have a lot of problems. Our house is not in the best shape.we have honey bees in the kitchen, leaks we can't fix, steps my family have trouble using but you know we're still here. Some of the others really need help.please pick the ones that really need your help. No child should never have to go through. Mine did but today they are blessed. Thank you.

  16. Hello my name is Colby Norman and I'm writing on behalf of my uncle, Chris Pollitz he served in the military for nearly 20 years until he was stricken with Lukemia. He battled with cancer nearly losing is life in this battle and lost use of his legs in the process due to chemo- therapy. Three years ago after finally saving up the money he and his wife had a home builder start construction on a fully handicap accessible house. After the house was about one third of the way through the home builder stopped showing up half the time also needing more money to complete work than originally agreed upon. The home builder stopped showing up at all and they were left with an incomplete home and almost five hundred thousand dollars worth of debt. When they started to involve the authorities the owner of the company filed bankruptcy. The after math of this is about to cause them to have to file as well, they have been living in a hotel for almost three years because of this crook. So I write this pleading for your help to make them feel special again.

  17. My Grandmother recently sign over her hoarded house to me, just 1 week before it was sold on the front steps of City Hall. I have spent the last 3 weeks removing the hoard and cutting down the forest that was once known as a backyard. After all my hard work I discovered that this home is unlivable. The problem with that is I recently received notice that I will have to relocate on or about January 2017 due to renovations being conducted on the property I am currently renting. As I am afraid of becoming homeless again after going through so much to get and stay on my feet, I need love. This house is the first and only home in my family to ever be purchased. We are a poverty-stricken family. This 3 bedroom, 1 bathroom single family home has the potential to be great again. Lately I find myself daydreaming of how wonderful it used to be and how is could become that again some day. I want this house to restore the love that once existed in our family. A place of celebration of births, graduations and holidays. I want my family to look at this place and not see the pain and sadness that once resided in these walls but the moments that are waiting to be created… My name is Quarletta Henderson, single mom of 3 from St. Louis, MO. Please help my family as well as bring light back to this war zone of a community.

  18. My grandmother signed her hoarded house over to me just one week before the city sold it on the front steps of City Hall. I spent 3 weeks removing the hoard to finally see the house naked. It took 2 40ft dumpsters and all of my resources to clean it out and get caught up on the taxes. This house has a hold of me. I spend countless hours daydreaming of what it once was and what it could be. This is the first and only home ever purchased in my family and I want to save it so that the family will once again have a place to celebrate life, holidays and graduations. My name is Quarletta Henderson from St. Louis, Mo, mother of three. I need you.I will continue to work hard on this house single handedly until your presence grace my life. Stay blessed and keep helping others.

  19. I have been watching this show in American Samoa and we are so happy to see those families dreams come true. I lived with my parents in American Samoa and my father is the Pastor in our small community. We were having a hard time paying our house because most of the time, my father rather help other people who needs his help. I moved up to Seattle Washington and my parents still living in American Samoa. I got a call that they are given certain amount of days to live there is they don't come up with the amount of money that they need to pay, they will need to move away from their home. It saddens my heart because for someone who puts others first before themselves deserves something better. It is a dream come true to surprise my family that they will keep the house and their house will be fixed.

  20. I am reaching out to Extreme Home Makeover for help on behalf of my Family. We live on the Navajo Reservation and you may already know that the "rez" is very rural. I am seeking help for my father, mother and my siblings. We live in a small home. it has been congested for years and every time I walk into my own home, I can't help but wish we had a bigger, better home. There are 8 of us who live in this small home. We often sit and talk about the things that could be improved. But on the reservation, jobs are very scarce. I am currently working and each payday I try my best to provide as much as I can and sometimes it is not enough. My father suffers from back pain that has been with him for years. He travels about 4 hours each way to the nearest professional hospital which is located in Flagstaff, AZ. He often receives shots that are injected into his spine. To watch him go through the pain and suffering he also has to chop woods and very rarely haul water for the animals. I would very much appreciated and it would be a dream come true to be selected as a candidate for Extreme Home Makeover. Please help me, help us!!

I wish I could put a smile on her face and in her heart again..and let her live out her days in her dream home…thank you for listening and your time!

  24. Hello. I was wondering if you ever considered doing a firehouse? I live in a small town and we have a small volunteer fire department in our area that could really use a make over. It's very small we only have 5 bays and a very small office area. We also have a small loft area but its full with storage. There is one restroom that's extremely small feels like your in a closet lol. We have no kitchen at all so if we try the feed the guys I usually try to cook from home and bring lots of crock pots. We have no ac in the summer so it gets pretty hot. In the winter we get lots of snow and usually some has to spend a couple nights there it would b nice to have a sleeping area we just put up cots where ever they will fit. It would b awesome to give these guys a nice fire station. This is a entirely volunteer fire dept they put their lives on the line every day for our community and I just feel like they deserve an awesome firehouse with a fully equipped kitchen, laundry room and sleeping area. Thanks and God Bless.

We ben to build our house on my in laws property so my husband could help take care of the land. His dad has worked UPS for years to take care of his family. My husband has barely seen is father due to soo much working. My mother in law is not in great health, and my brother in law is disabled. So we decided to build our home here to help out, as his parents continue to age. Due to financial situation our home is currently sitting unfinished and getting ruined. We would live the opportunity to have help to get it finished.. thanks for the opportunities u provide for so many families.

  31. Hi, My names Holly. For the longest time now, My parents owned our house and trid to fix it up the best they could. But, Our house has gotten to the point where it's just horrible. My family has had to deal with DFS for the longest time. My sister's in foster care that I rarely see. We used to have visits by the case worker checking on the house seeing how it was and if it was sutible for my sister to come home or if it was even suitable for me and my younger brother. I would always get worried that the worker might not approve. We had 2 dogs. They both got fleas so we had to get rid of them and we had to take the carpet out, currently our floor is concrete because my dad's budget is very tight right now especially with bills and child support. Our flooring is just coming apart. Our doors are wrecked up. Sometimes I'm even too embarrassed to have friends over because I'm scared of what they'll think. Life hasnr been the easiest for my parents. They are going through so much right now. And money and the condition the house is in is the main reason. Getting your help would be SUCH a blessing for them. I don't expect to be chosen because I know my case isn't as bad as others but. But it would definitely mean the world to me to see my dad happy and not having to worry about fixing the house but to help get my sister bakc. Good luck to everyone! And thank you for taking the time to read this .

  32. Hi, my name is Ruth Washington and I'm 19 years old. I'm contacting you today because the Washington house is falling apart. 40+ years ago my grandmother and grandfather bought the house to raise their family, they had 9 children. My grandmother has pasted since then, in the house so it's like an everyday reminder of her and it gets hard sometimes. Now that it has been 40+ years the house doesn't look as good as it used to. The kitchen roof had fallen in and sometimes we have animals and insects like raccoons and snakes and scorpions that get into the house. We have mold throughout the house, my grandpa has done everything he can to get rid of it but it's just too much for him to do. Also we do not have any cold running water in the kitchen sink or my room bathroom sink and we have to order water to drink. In the winter water in the water pipes freeze so we have no running water sometimes and in the summer the water pipes bust open so we don't have any running water then either. I have 3 months old twins and we had to move in with a friend because a water pipe just busted recently and I can't be there with no water for them and we also had to leave because of the mold in the house, and the animals and insects that get in, it's not safe for a babies. That house was where the whole family came together on holidays and cook and play games and stuff but we can no longer do that because of the condition the house is in, so we don't have family gatherings anymore. I would really like to be back home with my family to have help with the kids. It's a six bedroom and my grandpa, 2 younger sisters,my brother, aunt and her daughter is who all is currently living there. I would greatly appreciate it if you could get back to me and help us out. It would be a huge blessing for us. Thank you for your time and I hope to hear from you soon, have a blessed day.

  33. This make over would not be for me but. Family that I know that has been torn apart the couple Amanda and Simon live next door to my nan they were a young couple with a two year old daughter they were always kind and willing to help my nan one day New Year's Eve 31st December 2015 their lives changed they were driving home from Costco Cardiff to their home ready to go to a party a very reckless DRIVER over took a van which was on the opposite side of the road and hit their car head on simon was instantly killed on impact and their little girl in the back was left with minor injuries but Amanda was 6 months pregnant with their little boy at the time after having a miscarriage months earlier they were happy to be having another bundle of joy but sadly Amanda went into premature labour 3 days later and give birth to their little boy Simon Jr. Who then sadly passed away due to being born soo early because of the crash not only did she loose her husband but her baby boy Aswell their daughter left without. Daddy Amanda does not like to come much because everything reminds her of him and that they were trying to redecorate at the time but now she is struggling and if you would be able to transform the family home into somewhere where could go and feel amazing memories and a garden that she can play with her daughter would amazing she hasn't had a lot of luck at all and something like this would make life that little bit more bare able

  34. Hi there,

I have a really long story but Ill make it short and sweet and to the point to give enough time for you all to read through everyone elses requests as well 🙂

Were a family of 6. 4 kids under the age of 8. Having a special needs daughter who is almost 4 and needs continuous one on one care we are struggling to get ahead of ourselves financially. We didn't plan out our lives to be this way but if you ask us, we wouldn't have it any other way. Blakelee brings a lot of joy to our family and we love her dearly. But it is hard, not being able to trust someone to take care of her out of the home is not an option or us. I would love to work from home and have a respite worker take care of her while I work and make some extra cash to put into savings as were living pay check to pay check with only my husband working…its been an impossible struggle to get ahead in life. If we owned our own home it would allow is so much freedom to do the things we need to do. Renting a home is hard with a special needs child, we cannot make modifications to this home, I cannot have a business and modify this home to have business in this home as its not ours. Were stuck in a rut of moving every couple of years. We keep on getting places that really should not even be rented out to begin with. Currently living in a house with mould under the kitchen sink and the landlord who wont fix anything. The stresses of having a special needs chgild, many doctor appts/ physiotherapy/feeding and speech therapy …specialized equipment (wheelchair/walker and so much more) on top of not having a home fit for our family ..this is taking a toll on our marriage and our children as well. Our children deserve so much more than this. We need help. We dnt like to ask for help. But we are struggling. We need a fresh start to better our family and their lives. Please!

  35. My name is Elaine and I am hoping that you can help my sister who is taking care of my brother-in-law in their home in East Islip, NY. My brother-in-law suffered a severe brain stem stroke just before his 60th birthday over a year ago. He just retired a few months prior to having the stroke. He is now severely disabled and in a wheelchair with minimal use of his hands. He speaks, comprehends but cannot do anything himself. He was left with severe tremors of his arms, hands, and head. He also has a problem with his eyes now as they constantly move involuntarily and he gets dizzy and nauseous. Instead of getting better after working for the past year doing physical therapy he has become worse. They were told by the neurologist that as the brain heals with the type of stroke he had symptoms sometimes get worse instead of improving. My sister has her three daughters and 5 year old granddaughter living with them and the house only has one bathroom which is not handicap accessible. They cannot get him in and out of the bathtub as he cannot step up into the tub. As he has been told that he is not going to improve he, my sister and the rest of their family are very depressed. I feel so bad for them as it is so sad to see him like that. He worked all his life, served in the military and to end up at 60 years old in a wheelchair being so disabled is tragic. I was hoping that you could do some reservations to their home to make their life a little easier. If they could at least have a bathroom with a shower that he would be able to get in and out it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and consideration.

  36. hello, I love your show and what amazing things you do. It has been a dream for years to be in a place were we could help others the way you do. God has blessed our family and provided in many ways to keep us going. 3yrs ago my husbend Kim and i were lucky enough to perches some land and begin a project of building our dream home. unfortunetly we ran out of money quickly and began getting more and more into debt. so here we are 3years later and our home doesn't even have the roof finished. we are in a desperate time as the rain will be coming and we need to finish the shell asap. we have 3 children Lillian age 7 Frederick age 5 and our littlest Emilia age 10 months. a lot has been stalled over the years knowing we were going to have a 3rd child. we were living in our camp trailer at first and when we found out our little emilia was coming we decided we needed to find a small manufactured home to put on the land so we could fit better. that paused everything and we now are racing to get things done without going into debt any more. we just want our kids to grow up in a home they will never have to move again. we also have a older daughter she is 20 with a baby only 3 weeks older than emilia they are Keeaira and Kayden. they are struggling to have housing. we would love to finish our home so they could live here on the land with us in the manufactured home we are currently living in. we have 7 achers and would love to develop our land in gods name to provide housing for lots of families. we need a miracle. thank you for your time. -the Mckee's

  44. Hi,
My name is Dee. My husband and I live in Lincoln Nebraska. We moved to Lincoln 4 years ago. We found the charming house of our dreams. 3 years ago we recieved a phone call from California; our oldest sons roommate. Our son had suufered a major stroke and was on life support: http://www.today.com/health/young-stroke-survivor-finds-new-beginning-through-art-t29571
We brought him home to care for him but he was denied much of the needed therapy to recooperate his strength. It has been two years now and his health is declining. He has developed Muscle Atrophy, his joints are swelling from carrying his weight. He is aquireing flat foot from an improper gate. The
Pain he suffers daily exhausts him so that he has a hard time going up and down the steps.
He has resorted to sleeping on the floor because he couldn make it to bed and i couldnt lift him. He has a hard time getting a restful sleep because he is in much pain and each family member has their own routine and people moving about the house at different hours keeps him awake. About a year ago the foundation of our house cracked and shifted. Now when it rains mud and water fill the basement. Joe suffers from allergies of mold and chemicals. The mold in the basement is over powering! If i use chemicals to clean it up he develops rashes.
But he wont move out because he needs his privacy. We have seen black mold on the walls and Joe has now developed a skin fungus on his back.
We cant afford to move. As we haven't paid enough into it to get our money back out of this house. We would have to fix the foundation if we did try to sell and we don't have the money for that either.

  45. Ty my name is McKynzie. I'm a single mom to two boys aged 5 and 1. I recently bought a house (lease to own) due to bad credit at 79xxx. I work full time at McDonald's making $9 an hour. And trying to get My CNA&CMA liscense. My mom moved in to help me out with costs. Since moving in there are plumbing issues, electrical, a lot of updating needing done. I think our stove is about 70 years old and the oven doesn't work if that tells you about the updates needed. It's a beautiful antique home and I don't wanna move out because of a few things I can't really afford. I am divorced from an abusive marriage and finally standing on my own. I just want my kids and I to have the home we deserve. My kids deserve everything and right now I can't do anything for them excpet pay bills and try to fix things in our new home. Can't even give my oldest his birthday party besides a cake and a few friends due to so many expenses. I'm asking for a miracle. From the bottom of my heart please find it within yourself to help us out. My mom wants me to give up and move out. I love this home and just want to make it ours for good. I've moved so much my kids have never had a solid foundation or place to live and this is a dream come true. If you don't pick me that's ok. Another family will deserve it too. Thank you. For being you and helping out people who just can't do it by themselves. Your amazing.

    Yours Sincerely, Ms. McKynzie Rojas

  46. My name is Kiersten Umber.
I'm posting about my mom, Jenny.
She is 46 & has stage 4 colon cancer that has now spread to her brain.
She was diagnosed almost two years ago with this disease & through the fight against it, 3 rounds of chemo, & overloads of medication-it has progressively only gotten worse.
My mom is a warrior & a fighter.
Though the odds are against her, she refuses to give up the fight.
    I have a big family of 8.
Mom, step dad, myself, & 5 brothers.
    Two step brothers, three half.
Our ages from oldest to youngest:
    25, 24, (<me) 23, 15, 15, (<twins) & 13.
The cancer has unfortunately torn my family apart & we aren't as close as we once were-however, I-as a soon to be single mother want to do something for my step dad & younger brothers.
Though we don't even speak, I know my step dad carries the weight of the world on his shoulders right now & I know my little brothers have to be hurting, as we all are.
Their life without my mom will be too much to bare.
Although we are all at a loss for words & are fighting our emotions-
I want to be able to have something done for my step dad that can help him find some peace if my mom is soon to pass. We have our differences, but no one deserves to live their life in sadness & sorrow.
My son is 9 days late, & my family believes that my mother is holding on just to meet him at least once.
After he is born, I'm not sure what will happen to her-but I want the rest of my family to be able to return to their home & not feel the negative energy of my mom not being there anymore.
Though it will always be painful, I want to bring them peace-but I can't do it alone.

    I need your help.

  47. 1st time home buyer.
Buying a house that's almost 100 yrs old.
Looking to convert a 1917 home into a 2017 feel.
House sits on a major street, on the corner, in the heart of the city.

  48. I am writing in hopes of helping my best friend since second grade. Her Mother passed away a year ago (her Father when she was 20), and she lives with her brother in their childhood home in small-town, Minnesota. Since her mother died, they have been in such grief, that the house is now in shambles. So much is broken and needs to be replaced, they live among literal garbage everywhere and mice running rampant. My friend's brother is sick with heart problems and is in and out of the hospital, so he is unable to help her get things together. There is so much to do, clean, and fix, she doesn't know where to start, and so doesn't. She suffers from depression and high anxiety, and living in filth does not help her mental state. She works double and sometimes triple overtime just to pay the bills and to help her brother out financially. She will not have anyone over because she doesn't want anyone to know how she lives. She will not accept my help of potentially getting 20 people over there to help her out, as she is so ashamed. I have not been in her house since high school. I know what it's like to lose your parents at a relatively young age (we are only 42), and the absolute shock and grief you go through, and the feeling of not wanting to throw anything away because it was your parents, yet thinking how ashamed your parents would be because THEIR house looks the way it does. I just want to help my friend of over 30 years, as not only does she simply deserve not to live among mice, but has helped me so much with my own depression and anxiety. She is the absolute funniest person I know, and there is not one judgement in her of anyone. I know there are people out there that have much harder, sadder stories than this, but my best friend deserves her childhood home to be a place she can be proud of again. Please help me help her.

  49. Hello ABC !
My names Valeria Sanchez and I'm reaching out to you for help. I'm 18 years old,the second oldest of 6. I have the greatest parents you could ever ask for who do anything to help my brothers and I pursue our education no matter what our circumstance may be. We live in a 3 bedroom mobile home and we just don't fit and although I am very great full for the little I have I want to give back to my parents for always maintaining a roof over my head. Our little trailer is falling apart and I don't know what to do to help my parents. My dads been unemployed for little over a year and we have been living by check to check from my mother's pay since then. My dad finds side jobs to help financially but it isn't enough. I'm afraid for what will happen when I move away for college this August. In some way I feel it is all my fault my dad lost his job for always going out of his way to help me pursue my dreams. All because of my parents I was able to achieve a scholarship in womens wrestling in Oklahoma but what is left at home hurts me. I want my mom to feel like it isn't her fault we have no doors or that our tile is completely torn apart or even that the rodents are in our kitchen every night because she doesn't clean, Because I know that is not true I want my parent's to come home to a house they can rest in and not worry about where the buckets need to be placed on a rainy day.I have faith that god will help us and help me lead me to the right path as I was never raised in wealth but I am rich in health , dreams, and a family. I hope you all can help me and my brothers with a place we can call home where we can invite friends over and not be looked at differently. Please help me give thanks to both my mother and father. Help me have a place I can call home

  51. Catherine and Eugene Cronk have opened theirs hearts and home to so many people, some people look at them as a second parents, some are thankful to have known them for their generosity. No matter the struggles they ever faced, they never turned anyone away, or if anyone ever needed help with anything they would always give a helping hand. This family has faced the biggest struggle, when Eugene ended up in Upstate Hospital in Syracuse NY. Some people held the faith, and some of us had our heads down, thinking this is it, he's not going to make it today. The Cronk family, have continued, to go down a road of hope and faith. Catherine Cronk has been by her husband Eugene Cronk Sr's side, since the day he was brought to Upstate Hospital on May , Airlifted by helicopter from Adam Center NY, he has suffered from a stroke, anariseum in his brain that burst, paralyzed on his right side, had pneumonia, faught of one of the worst bacteria infection a person can get. Eugene has faught a battle, now he is in a Rehabilitation Center in Syracuse NY, called Van Duyn Home, Hospital. He was sent their for physical therapy, to improve his speech, and to help him walk. Instead since he has been their his feeding tube is full of fluid and infected, his sheets are discusting, and he has had dry food stuck on his face on daily bases. Eugene has faught a battle, now he is in a Rehabilitation Center in Syracuse NY, called Van Duyn Home, Hospital. He was sent their for physical therapy, to improve his speech, and to help him walk. Instead since he has been their his feeding tube is full of fluid and infected, his sheets are disgusting, and he has had dry food stuck on his face on a daily bases. Its been a scary battle their kids and their spouses travel almost on a daily bases to be by their parents side.Especially when their dad was in the hospital everyday to be by their mom and dads side not knowing. It's a scary thing not knowing, a waiting game knowing it was all in God's hands. Every day praying for improvement, Drs in their ears telling them something different everyday, putting a scare in them. But in God's good grace a miracle happens, and little by little Eugene starts to improve.
With Eugene in the Rehabilitation Center at Van Duyn Home Hospital, since July 1st, they have poor reviews if you look it up, and he hasn't even been out of bed or seen a Dr yet since he has been their to see him. Our fear is he will get sick again, and get pneumonia and be right back in the hospital. He shouldn't be wetting through his diapers or sitting in his own fieces all day. Right now my Aunt and Uncles house is being worked on, they have struggled through a lot of financial burdens through life. They never had anything, their home is run down, bathroom floor is caving in, air comes through every where in winter, it stinks in their, it just needs to be torn down and rebuilt everything is so out dated. Each of their kids barely can hang on than try and rebuild their parents home. I have been trying to get donations or donations from people for materials they may not be using, but people are not like they use to be. We are trying to get their dad home and only way we can get my Uncle home is if the condition of the house is approved for his health, and if we can get it their then he can get physical therapy, a nurse, and aide come out to their home. But without the help or the funds it's not going to be easy. He's also going to need a ramp made. My Aunt has a lot of health issues herself and all that house does is keep her sick, please help I would be forever greatful if you could help out my Aunt and Uncle. Thank-you

  52. My name is Kenneth Beasley Jr I am 23 years of age and I am from Miami, Fl. I am a father, college student, family and God Fearing man. I currently work a part time job while trying to finish school and raising a daughter on top of that. My house is at least 40 years old could be older and for years now from what I can remember has been in horrible condition. I currently live with my mom and younger brother. We have severe roof damage so bad that our roof leaks a lot throughout the house and all we can do is put the tarp and sandbags on the roof to try to manage. Then we have holes throughout the house that rodents and bugs get into a lot. I don't feel like my house is a safe place to be in at times because of the condition of it. On top of that we don't have hot water so every shower is a cold one. I don't feel comfortable bringing my daughter over my house at times because of the condition of it. I don't want her having to get bit by a rodent that crawls through the house at times or bugs crawling on her. Our roof in the back of the house has been condemning for years its expected to fall through soon. We had different inspectors come out and give estimates about fixing it but their prices are outrageous. SO outrageous most of them say its no point in gettint it fix but to tear it down. My house has not been a home in a very long time. So if you're reading this could you please take my house situation into consideration because I really would appreciate your help! Thank you and God bless.

  53. This isn't something I would normally do but I don't know what to do anymore. I'm active duty in the Marine Corps for a little over 13 years. Currently I live in Linden, NJ. I'm stationed at the reserve center in Brooklyn, NY as Inspector Instructor staff. I originally bought this house because I wanted my kids to be involved in a good school system and with 3 kids, it's not feasible to live in an apartment in NY. Unfortunately, everything cosmetically checked out but it's shot on the inside. My oldest 2 kids, I got permanent custody of since I have been here. There Mom, for lack of better words, is going through a bad time in her life and wasn't giving them the right care and attention. My youngest son is a little Miracle. Shannon wasn't supposed to be able to have kids, she was told by 2 doctors it would likely never happen and for several years, it didn't, until Chance was conceived. He was between 3 and 4 when we realized he needed to be tested for autism. He was diagnosed with autism but he is a brilliant little boy and he has the biggest heart. He loves Sponge Bob, Minecraft, and anything he can build. I don't know if this will ever go anywhere but I have to try. I have a plumber scheduled to come out in roughly an hour. I will be spending $1200 for the 3rd time of money I really don't have. My deck is eaten up by carpenter bee's and that one I knew ahead of time but I've spent so much time dealing with the drain that, its just got pushed aside. I don't have the time, not enough hours in the day, I literally drive an hour and a half just to get to work and most occasions the same time getting back. The only days that my drive is decent coming back is when I'm leaving early for physical therapy. I have a chronic lateral contusion that causes a herniated disk in my back. That's part of the reason I get so irritated/depressed with my drive home. I don't even know why I'm saying all this except for I'm defeated, I feel like I've failed my family. Dad is supposed to be able to fix things and I just can't, I'm trying but it's not working. I hope the best for all of you and God Bless you.

    Respectfully

    GySgt Hamilton, J. A.

  54. Hello,
My name is Christina Allen. I hope Im contacting the right show. My brother in law died in January in a freak accident. He was cutting down a tree and his family found him in the woods. A tree had fallen on him. He was 43 years old and has been married to his childhood sweetheart for years, and has 3 children the youngest cant understand why this has happened. He was in the process of building his dream home which is on his property. He was building it himself. It’s a painful reminder to his family of the sudden loss of their father and husband. My sister in law id in fear of losing the property that they worked so hard for and seeing someone else in her beloved home that her husband was building with his own hands. I would love to ease the burden. Eric was a wonderful man, and died while trying to provide for his family. Please contact me back. I hope and pray with all I have that you can somehow help.

  56. Hi, I am from a small town in Wisconsin with a great need for an after school program. In our city we only have one after school program at only one elementary school on only Tuesday and Thursdays. Many parents rely on an after school program so that they can work and not have to worry about danger their kids could in when they are home alone after school. What I want for our town is to have one big after school program so that kids from all schools in my city will have the chance to meet before middle school. Our city's old high school is right across the street from our middle school and needs so much repair, but would be a perfect place to have our after school program. Not only would these repairs effect one family, but would positively effect hundreds of families in our community. This would be a project that would last a lifetime and one you would not regret.

  57. We are two struggling parents in a world that seems to be against us. No matter how hard we try to presaveir. We live in a very outdate home that was builg in the 1950s. We don't have enough money to get everything up to date. The floirs need replaced, electric panel, and all the heating and pipes. We have a 10month old and a 3yr old, I myself am struggling with with medical issues, my knee needs ti be replaced at 23. I am in a leg brace and crutches. So i myself have a hard time to do anything. My husband works so hard. It would be nice to not be so stressed all the time.

  58. Hi there I'm currently serving in the active-duty army. I am the oldest of five boys and I grew up with a single mom most of my life. My mom was finally able to buy a house from a settlement that she got because she took a medicine while she was pregnant and caused medical issues with one of my brothers. I'm currently stationed in Fort Riley Kansas and I am from Centralia Missouri. My mom has done everything for me and my brothers. We didn't have the best of a life but we were able to get by. My mom fought to get house insurance but nobody would do it. And just yesterday a tree fell on my mom's house and damaged it pretty badly. My step dad works his fingers to the Bone every day and yet it's still not enough. Also my mom just got out of surgery because she and two of my brothers have a condition called Arnold Chiari. The house is literally falling apart and also the sewer will back up every now and then and because the whole house to stink because the pipe that runs to the sewer system has collapsed. I'm trying everything that I can to help them and I would do anything in the world to do that. If you would please help them it would mean the world to me and my family.

  60. I want to nominate my good friends Annie and Kevin. I met Annie just over 2 years ago at a soccer game for our girls. I overheard her talking to another Mom there and remember thinking "this is the kind of person you want as a friend." She was positive, uplifting and determined. Being in the military we move around a lot and I'm on the lookout for a good friend who could be a positive influence, I found that in her and we became fast friends. Kevin is a Veteran who served overseas for 2 years. He still serves in the military as a Captain in the National Guard and is also a Law Enforcement Officer. After being gone for 2 years of his daughters first years of life he was able to return home. A year later they had another baby girl. 2 weeks after giving birth Annie was in the hospital to have her gallbladder removed followed by a pancreatic attack. Her body then went into septic shock. The hospital called Kevin and told him to get to the hospital immediately so he and the girls could say goodbye. Miraculously after 3 days her body started functioning as it should. 2 days later she was able to go home. They had always rented or lived with friends until 3 years ago when they finally bought their first home, it was a 3 bedroom mobile home. 6 months after moving in Kevin's Mom moved in with them to start treatments for her leukemia. The new reality for Annie was constantly driving her mother in law around for treatments. She had to be very careful of where they went so her mother in law didn't catch any kind of sickness. This went on for the next 26 months. February 10, 2015 Kevin's mother Mary passed away. Just over a year later Annie's brother died in a car accident with a semi-truck at only 36 years old causing much grief in the family. During all this time Kevin has worked very hard for his family. He is gone at least one weekend a month for National Guard Duties and works late many times a week as a Law enforcement Officer.
Not too long after moving into their home they started having bowing in the floors. They literally have lump in one of their bathrooms which and more has started to happen in other parts of the home. Over the past year Kevin has been wanting to fix it but hasn't had time with his jobs. He barely has time to spend with his family. It is getting to the point where the floor is getting soft and they are worried they might fall through. We have had many strong rainstorms as of late that have caused standing water under the house that they have had to pump out, once they have it pumped out it rains again causing them to have to pump it all over again. They can't stay on top of it and the moisture and humidity is causing even more problems. They are not the kind of people to ever ask for help, and are always willing to step right in to help others. Even at the expense of their own needs. Kevin is an amazing man and provider for his family and is working hard for what he earns. With Kevin being gone a lot for work one thing Annie has always wished she had was a basement so she didn't have to worry about getting her kids and 2 dogs up and outside to the storm shelter during Tornado warnings, although she is grateful for a storm shelter. The reality of ever having this dims the more problems they have with their home and not even being able to fix the problems they have now.
Although I have only known them just over 2 years I feel like we are family; I have seen them go through many ups and downs with loss and other trials. I feel that they would be excellent candidates for a home makeover. Kevin works hard not only for his family but for all of us in serving his country in 2 different positions, as a Captain commanding a unit for the Army National Guard and a Law Enforcement Officer. I appreciate your time in reading this and hope for the best in you considering Kevin, Annie and their children

She is currently in and out of dr visits because of injuries she got from working at a steel fabrication. She was laid off about a yr ago. There is so much I wish i could give my mom because she has done and also put up with so much for my siblings and I from being in a abusive relationship with my father to working literally everyday she never missed a day of work nor was ever late it didn't matter if my mom was so sick she was still at work trying to make money to give us a better life. Now that my mom is out of work she is seeking disability because she is unable to work anymore. Money is tight right now and seeing my mom's house I see it's slowly falling apart, from kitchen to restroom to bedrooms, also one of the restrooms has mold on the walls/ cieling. I just know there is nothing more that will make her forever happy than seeing her home get the makeover it needs. So I ask please help me to make my mom's dream home a reality she never asks for anything after all she does and winning this for her will just be amazing and I know she will be beyond greatful.

  67. Hello, my name is Asiana I'm 18 years old and live in a small town in Kentucky with my mom, step dad, and 5 out of 6 of my siblings. I am the 3rd oldest of 7. 8 of us are living in an originally 3 bedroom trailer (my step dad built a room out of our dining room so we now have 4 rooms). The trailer and land is ours, my parents just finished paying it off. Not having rent to pay every month allows us to put that money towards other bills. Our trailer is very old and pretty torn up and worn out. My mother is the most amazing woman and I wish I could give her the world. She's raised 7 children with very little help. My mom tries her best to make due with what we have on our small budget. Tries to make a home out of the not so decent trailer. It would be unreal if we were chosen for a home makeover. Not very many things go right for us and we've never understood what we've done so wrong in life to have such awful luck. I hope and pray that we are chosen so I can see my mom be genuinely happy, something I haven't seen in years. Please help my family.

  68. Hello, my name is Jessika and I am applying for my mother and father-in-law. I do not know where to begin on how amazing they have been to many people in their lives. They have a two story house that was built partially in a hill and it floods downstairs when it rains. They have always opened their doors to anyone who was put out and as a teenager there were so many other kids that considered them their second parents. They have helped as many kids as I knew as well as myself when my mother died abruptly. Now as their daughter-in-law they are ALWAYS willing to help our family out even if it means giving us their last without mention. Their house has no a/c or heat and my pa-in-law is just too old to chop that much wood and too stubborn to admit it. There is mold downstairs that is thriving in the constant wet Florida climate and at this point all of their 6 kids as adults are wondering what can even be done as we rush over for flood patrol. If you could help these amazing folks who constantly help others and always keep their door opento everyone it would be an amazing blessing.

  70. Hi there! My name is Brittany and I am married with two small children. I am writing to you in hopes I can finally help my husband catch a break. My husbands name is Anthony, he is the hardest working person I know. He works full-time for the Village, where we live, as a maintenance personnel. He is currently in training to take over as supervisor. Being there is only two maintenance personnel there is a lot of responsibility that comes with the job. Everything that goes on in the community he has a hand in. We live in a very small community where everyone knows everyone. Aside from his full-time job he works nights at the local tractor company. There he assembles new tractors, and delivers them. He also is on the fire department aside from the other 2 jobs. He 7 days a week, rarely taking a break. He even puts in hours on holidays, without overtime or holiday pay just to keep our household bills paid. I am a stay at home mom with our two small daughters. I was starting college when I got pregnant with our first. With two small children at home and no degree and the cost of daycare I would just be handing my pay checks over to daycare centers. I'm doing my best to coupon, shop sales to save us money. We bought a new vehicle that was safe for the kids to ride in but stuggle with monthly payments. My husband drives an old beater truck to work everyday. He deserves something nice. We recently just bought a house in September and started to remodel with a small loan from family members but with finances extremely limited things have come to a stand still. We now have found that anytime it storms the rain leaks into the basement, the roof is in need of redoing, all four of us are living in one bedroom do to the other two not being finished, the bathroom continues to mold and is falling apart, there are support beams in the basement that are cracking, we have one window a/c unit which is very costly so we don't use it much and it doesn't cool but one room which makes for very cranky people, all things combined it adds much stress to my husband and I just want him to get a break. We don't look forward to weekend, holidays or time off because we rarely see him. It always seems to be something, and we just want to be able to spend time with daddy when he's not stressed about money and the house falling apart. We are seeking your help to get a safe home for our children. PLEASE!

  72. Hello my name is Elizabeth Rios and my husbands name is Jose Rios and we moved from California to Lenox Iowa to better our financial stability for our children, we have seven children, we are a blended family and have been married for almost 12 years. A year. My children are my pride and joy, moving to Iowa was the best thing we have done my children are academically wise are doing a lot better, I get very honorable good feed backs from their teachers. A year after living here in Iowa I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer on July 7 2014. I am happy to say that with God's help and having a lot of faith I fought it through and was cancer free on April 16 , 2015 for ten month. I went back to work I told my husband that I was tired of paying rent to live in a house, I wanted to find a way how can we purchase a home or by a lot to build our home, that was one of my dreams to be able to have our own home where we can raise our kids and say yes we are paying for a house that one day we can say we own it, but unfortunately 10 months after I was diagnosed again on 01/20/2016 but this time it matastized to my vertebrae they found three spots there and on my Left breast and some lymph nodes. My radiation oncologist said I was a stage 4. I had applied to work for our local school that my children attend, and a day before being diagnosed I was hired as a para educator. My Boss, co workers and our students have been a great support for me. My boss the high school Principal told me, you are not alone, we are going to fight this together, may God Bless his heart. Since that day I said they have shown me their support 101%. We are still renting monthly payment. To keep a roof under our children's head grand estimated monthly payment this is including utilizes and all is 985 total. I believe in miracles, I have a lot of faith and I would like to see that my dream home will true.

  73. Heart warming long story short.. My brother & his wife are attempting to move into her childhood home with their children. The home was neglected for years as her father was a hoarder, to the point where her parents split up.. Could be a beautiful house & inspiring story of going home again.

  74. Hello,I am from Baton Rouge, La. This is definitely a 911 call for me. When we purchased our home in 2004, there were some minor things that were not completed. Over the years, things have needed to be repaired but having a family of five, there is always a much greater need. Having a child growing up with ADD and ADHD, some of the damages were made. For examples; Holes in the wall because the wall are made off Sherlock, the rim around doors due to confrontations and the most serious one, the ceramic in the shower is bust in. Over the years, because i did not think to have the kid to stop Showering in that bathroom, mold has developed. i do believe that this has contribute to the kids allergies issues. My daughter who was 14 at the time some of the damages were caused has seen a doctor and currently seeing a doctor who help her control her anger with medication. She is 19 now and since then she is doing well. We have made several attempts to have the much needed repairs made but either the prices are out of our budgets or the people who have been refer to us never seems to finish the job. When we first looked for a hoe to buy, we were living in some apartment and were very pleased with the schools the kids were attending so it was very important that we purchased a home in the area we were currently living in. The only problem was that we were a family of 7 and needed a home that could accommodate our size but in a price range we could afford. So the realtor at that time was not able to find a 4 bedroom that we waned in the area we were currently living in so what he did was found a 3 bed room with a living room and den. Because the realtor knew how to make home repairs, he offer to close in the den and add a door and made it a fourth bed room. Well as the years went on, we begin to have some electrical issues such the lights going out. Having to reset the lights with the breaker. So we called out the home warranty company that we had at that time and it was at that time that we found out that because we allowed the realtor to make the den a bedroom, it was using more electricity and that we would need to upgrade the fuel box. The only problem we had was that the home warranty company told us that they will not cover they cost to repair the electricity issue and that we would have to have someone come out pay the cost on our own to have someone make the repair to the electricity. We called some out and realize that we could not afford to have the repairs made. As time went on, the electricity issues became worst. The light over the kitchen sink caught a fire, melted the wires and blew out. One side of the kitchen went out and for a while we had to you a portable kitchen cooking stove because the side the stove was on went out. After constantly having to reset the breaker, it does not go out at this time. The outlets in the master bedroom has gone out one by one. Its so bad that we are having to run electrical cords through out the house. At time the outlets does not work in the rest room because when the outlets goes out in our room, it affect the outlets in the bathroom and the hall way. At times we have to take a plug and place it in the wall, shake it so the electricity can come back on because resetting the fuel box no longer works. What has caused me to reach out in extreme desperateness to EXTREME HOME MAKE OVER is about a month or so ago i had my portable heater on trying to warm up after getting out of the tub because the heater i our bathroom does not work. I begin to smell wire burning where it was plugged up and noticed the outlet smoking so I immediately unplugged it and plugged it into a surge outlet. A few weeks ago, I was sitting on side of my bed and heard a sparkle and when as i turned and looked at the socket, i saw fire literally coming out of the wall! I immediately jerked the surge outlet out of the plug and have not used it since. I am concerned and having a fear of my house catching a fire. Especially while may family is in the home or asleep at night cause us to die. I currently have been having home warranty for a year and a half. I have reached out to them several time only to find out that they too DO NOT cover the electrical issued as well! The most recent concern as well is having visitors who were dealing with bed bugs as well as me taking them where they were needing to go has caused my family to have to deal with bed bugs now! , a few months ago, 2 were found inmy car and then weeks later my husband found 2 on our bed cover and just few days ago he found 2 more and i found 1. With the City of Baton Rouge having an issues with bed bugs, I am afraid that we may be at the start of having one. We have begin with spraying and Pray that this stop the bed bugs from getting out of control.Last but not least, we have been in our home for 12 years now. Having a 7yr who has recently been diagnosed with ADD and anxiety simply because he can not focus. He really struggled in school this pass year and because the teacher has helped him make great progress, I am concern that if we move, changing his school, this could cause more harm then good. The anxiety he has, causes him not not deal with change well. My Prayers are that we are able to remain in our home for the sake of our son. I know that this may not matter but we have a neighbor who is no longer able to pick up is news paper from the road and everyday we see to him receiving his paper! I am begging for help. I know that when we purchased out home, it was told to us that this was a starter home……that was 12 years ago. My husband does not want to move because he says we will lose all of the money that we have put into the house. It has been a struggle but by the Grace of God we have manage to keep our home. I truly agree with him but my thought are that if we had to, I would rather start over with my family being alive then to be force to start over loosing our home and our family!
