  1. After living for seven years in East Los Angeles in the Projects my family and I were able to buy our home sweet home. Our house is in need of a make over and my husband and I can not afford it due to barely making our mortgage payments and paying our bills. The little money we do have left over we try to save and take the kids out once in a while or maybe even eat out. Our house is very hot, we have palm treas that we cant afford to trim, our four bedrooms are dark colors and we have not been able to afford to paint the rooms. wedges on floors are broken. Daughters ceiling fan light does not work, restrooms are really old. outside of house walls have lots of patches due to house being insulated when we first moved in and house has no character. Our home is our dream come true but needs some uplifting. My husband Luke is a hard working plumber and works in the sun all day everyday at times I see him massaging his hands due to all his hard work and never complains. I work for a non profit organization in a women jail in the Los Angeles. We have two children Fabian 14 years old and Amber 11 years old. My mother is currently living with us five days a week due to not being able to afford a baby sitter or summer camp since my husband and I work early in the morning. A makeover will make my family and I so very happy.

  3. Hi My name is Melissa and I am asking that you would help a family that I work with in the school system in our small community in Hart, MI. The student that I work with has special needs and has many medical issues going on as well. Lucas is wheelchair bound, communicates using his eyes to blink once for yes and moves his head to the right for no, and he can also answer questions using this method with a 4 visuals to choose from due to his disability and cerebral palsy. Over the past year he had some other medical issues come up where he had been hospitalized (where he almost died) and is now homebound. They have a small home and it needs to be repaired and upgraded to assist them for his condition. They are working with therapists and teachers to be able to get him to return to school but if his services remain at home- then this just makes things that much more confined.
Dad works at a local factory and mom has worked as much as she could but her main priority has been to raise her children and to focus on Lucas's health and education.
I have been in their home over the years and both parents are doing all of the work themselves as things need done. Just this week over the 4th of July Holidays- mom is taking down the kitchen cupboards to strip and restain. They don't ever complain but just continue to move forward, take care of their children, teach them good work ethics and that with the lords help that everything will be ok.
I am asking that Extreme Makeover will do their home as the NEXT Home Improvement Project and let our Community show our support for this family.

  5. The old Shakespearean expression “All that glitters is not gold” is commonly used in circumstances where the perceived value falls short of what something or someone is truly worth. In my earlier years when I was a mere toddler at most, my family boasted of a large house, and an almost grand living style. Everything seemed to be accomplished, perfect. But as aforementioned, “All that glitters is not gold”. My father took advantage of this circumstance he gained for himself and began to indulge in drinking. My mother however, believed in my father’s character and believed that he was not all lost in the alcohol and abuse. She was a woman of commitment and manner, and continued to fulfill her duty as a wife and a mother, turning to work late at night when my father could not longer support the family. My mother gave up her social life, and unwillingly gave up precious time she could spend with her children to hold together the family and continue to keep us afloat. I watched my mom put herself through some of the worst years of her life for her children. We all saw her faltering smile on her days off and knew that inside she was hurting knowing that giving her everything wasn’t enough. We all did our part and at a very young age I learned to do many things that kids my age didn’t even have to think about. My father continued to worsen and it came to a point that I wished my own father were dead. Inside the gorgeous house was a less than gorgeous scene where every individual was scrambling to pick up the parts my dad left broken and scattered. My mom hated him for what he failed to be as a husband and father, and hated herself for not being able to fill the shoes of both parental figures. But through all this I realized that material items and assets do not and could not compare to a stable family who all love each other. I found that I wanted my mom to be home more than I wanted a new wardrobe for the upcoming school year, and I wanted my old dad back more than I wanted a latest iPod model. And when our family decided to downsize, I felt a pang of loss for what I would be giving up. But when we moved into a smaller home, my family blossomed and we are all much happier without pouring all of our money into the house that was not a home. The big empty home was filled with beautiful rugs and vases yes, but it lacked stability and a sense of family. However, my mother was only happier in the sense that she would no longer have to worry about bills, she began to feel guilty that her children were living in an old, cramped broken house with grimy doors and broken, stained toilet seats. She despises the house we live in because everything is an eyesore, and there is no room to even store all her things. She is a great cook, and loves the kitchen more than anything, but at the new house she doesn’t have room to cook great meals and although she doesn’t complain much, but we all know that her spirits fall every time she has to walk on the cracked, peeling, disgusting linoleum in the kitchen, get her clothes from the free bookshelf where she stores them, or use an Ikea lamp with a lampshade in the living room because we don’t have lights on the ceiling. Her dejected heart kills me every time and I want to do this for my mother. She has worked too hard to feel like she has failed herself and her children, and the least I could do for her is possibly give her an at least decent looking home with a good kitchen so she can spend time cooking for her friends whom she doesn’t even invite over anymore in fear that they will see the front door that doesn’t close properly and the bathrooms that she doesn’t even want to be reminded of. My mother deserves to finally be happy and at peace with the life she has created, and I want to show her how grateful we all are of everything she has done for us. And even though “All that glitters is not gold”, I want to allow the true value and importance of what my family holds to shine for what it is.

We just need help.please

  8. Hi,

My name is Shelly. We live in the small town of Trenton Tx. We moved to Trenton back in February because that's where my husband was raised and we wanted our daughter to be raised in a small close knit community. We dont have a sad story to tell because life is full of challenges and we have had our fair share like anyone else. We are just a young family working for what we have. We bought an old home built in 1888 that needs a lot of work and with bills it seems impossible to turn the home I fell in love with and had so many plans for into what it should be for our family. I know there are more deserving people in this world but it would mean a lot to my family. Please help us.

  9. Thank you for helping those in need! My name is Karon. I married the love of my life on Oct 02,2010. My husband is an amazing man! At the age of 18 after enlisting into the US MARINE CORP in the delay entry program, he had an accident which broke his back and left him paralyzed! It took this strong willed man 2 years to learn to walk again! All the Dr's said he would never walk and the life expectancy for someone with his injury was only 10 years! He has surpassed that and beat all the odds, that where stacked up against him! This happened to him on JULY 4th 1982… the day he would lose his independence!!! Because of the injury he wasn't able to for fill his dream of being a "lifer" in the marines. Everyday is such a struggle for him to do the simplest of tasks, but let someone in need call on him…no matter how much pain he is in, he is always there to help! I have had to try in come to terms with the devastating reality that in the near future he will be unable to use his legs any longer and will once again be bound to a wheel chair, that he worked so hard to get out of! We bought his mothers home in Esom Hill GA after she pasted. It is over 100 year old house and needs updating! He is an inspiration to so many but WILL NOT ask for help! Please consider us for this make over as this home is not wheel chair accessible in anyway!!!! Thank you for considering us! GOD BLESS!!!

  12. I am applying to become a cast member on Extreme Makeover. I am from Brooklyn, New York. I am currently residing in the Bushwick section of Brooklyn, which is my childhood home. In 1991, my grandmother, Mackie, purchased this home for 56,000.00 because at the time, we were living in a notorious section in Brooklyn and she wanted a better life for our family. in 1997 she was diagnosed with diabetes. still with her illness, she managed to rennovate our home. It was up until 2008 when her diabetes complications worsened and she passed in 2014 due to uterine cancer. My mom, her surviving daughter was able to determine that she had a lapsed LIFE insurance policy and a 200,000$ mortgage left on the house. Alot of people on my block is selling their home, but my family home means so much to us, that it would be better if it was renovated. Im begging you to help my mom and i as we renew this milestone home.

  14. My name is Kimberly Vecchione, unfortunately in 2007 my husband and I lost our oldest daughter which broke our hearts and the hearts of her siblings who are now a 21 year old daughter w Downs, 18 year old with Aspergers and our 10 year old (her daughter) with multiple issues including learning disabilities. My parents have moved in with us and are not well. My husband works two jobs trying to provide for our family/extended family. I work when I can, but with my children, their needs and I have Lupus, it makes it difficult for me to commit to a full time position. We work on our home as we can financially. I would love to remove some of that burden from husbands shoulders. We would love a kitchen…I live with bakers racks for cabinets and stacking for counter space. I love to cook, my husband who is plagued with diabetes and its complications loves my cooking (I've catered quite a bit). Our home is in Trumbull CT, and the original home (minus the additions) was built in 1890.

  15. My name is Maria Arnold. This is a dream …I am hoping to fulfill for my daughter. Her name is Hannah and she is 3.5 years old. She is on of 100 people in the world to have been diagnosed with a devestating genetic condition called BPAN. It's a variation of NBIA (Neuro-degeneration with Brain Iron Accumulation), an extremely rare degenerative and life threatening disease with no treatment or cure.

Hannah continues to suffer from seizures, displays severe developmental delays and intellectual disability, and has significant difficulty communicating. She will most likely enter a second phase of rapid neurological deterioration in her teens or early adulthood. She will lose some, if not most, of the aquired abilities in the future- even is she walks and learns to talk. She will suffer from parkinsonism and dystonia and BPAN ultimately results in premature death.

As devestating ad this has been for us, we are determined to give her the best life she can have. We want her to experience life the best way she knows how. We as parents want to give her everything we've got and set up our home to make it hers. It breaks my heart that she lives in
a world where she is always making do or waiting for accommodations just so she can participate. I want our home to be a place of comfort and refuge from that for her..where things are easy for her to get and for her siblings to interact with her. A place that she can be comfortable and fully accessible. Currently she is in a wheel chair and has a stander. She is constantly bumped into walls and corners are hard to get around. She is carried up and down stairs and door opening into the bathrooms are smaller than usual. Lifting her in and out of the tub is a difficult task. She has seizures everyday and it makes her tired. We woul love to have a space outside for her to enjoy the surroundings. I read the previous posts and everyone is deserving of a chance for this opportunity. I pray for this dream to come true for Hannah. Thank you.

  21. Hello, my name is Kindra Glaze and I understand that you have a tremendous amount of requests for help, and I am now another one. This request is not for myself but, for my parents, Mike and Kathy Glaze.
On Christmas Eve 2014, my mother was taken, by ambulance, to the hospital for carbon monoxide poisoning due to the 30+ year old furnace. The fire department said that the only thing that possibly saved her life was that she slept with her bedroom window cracked open.
Then a few days later, I rushed her to the hospital for a headache so bad it was causing her vomit. There they did a scan of her brain and found 2 tumors. One on the front right side of her brain 1 inch in size and one on,the back right side of her brain measuring 2 inches in size. The doctor said the type of tumors they were, they didn't start there. Soon she was diagnosed with stage 4 Lung cancer. One year later, October of 2015, my father was diagnosed with the same type of cancer and also in stage 4. They have gone through chemo treatments with addition to radiation treatments to the brain. My mom was in remission and has had to go back for radiation for 6 new to the brain. My father is currently in remission from this terrible cancer. The type of cancer they have is the type that likes to come back. The house they are in currently has black mold growing on the outside, and isn't in very good shape.
They are loving caring indivuals who would do anything to help someone in need, even to the point of making gift baskets for people in need and dropping them off anonymously. They were both hard working and are now on disability. My dad's back is really bad and no surgeon will touch his back till he has a an “Ok” from the oncologist. They have both had to abandon their bedroom including their bed, that is on the second floor for they can't make it up the stairs. My mom had to create herself a day bed down stairs in the dining room and my father sleeps on the couch. I am pleading on your mercy to please come to Siloam Springs, AR and help them.

  23. Hello ABC. I am nominating a family very dear to me the Statile family for extreme home makeover. The family is made up of 6 people Teresa(mom), Frank(dad), Katie, Frankie, Matt and Emily who are twins, Emily however is a little person. The family lives in a two story house that needs repairs. A couple years ago they riped up the carpeting, but never got around to putting down new floor due to the parents working full time jobs to put food on the table. Emily has a very hard time getting around and accessing things, nothing is modified for her which they could really use help with. The family is some of the greatest people I've ever met, kind, generous even when they have nothing to give. The house needs repairs before it is unsafe to live in. Please extreme home makeover help!

  24. I plead for your help He has a home that Needs a new roof, floors, walls, plumbing, bedroom extended to a master bed,a guest bed room, enlarge the kitchen and redo the porch/patio. He actually want to move the house to the actual spot. He has also vision having a furnish out side that would be hooked to the duck work to heat the home in the winter months. The actual heating and cooling would be all electric. He loves the grandchildren very much and wants to provide them the security they need to have a great life after graduating from High School. We are dropping the ball so much on our children due to none support. please help this happen. Last but not lease he loves shooting pool more than any other activity. I would love to see a recreation room added on which would be used for this as well as a large TV for watching the games. He lives to have joy 365 days a year for himself and those around him.
He would never ask for anything to be given to him and do not believe something like this could happen, however I have faith and I believe this could happen. His mother passed earlier and that was a great lost. He does not know i am writing this. I have not heard of you ever coming to Arkansas this is in the Delta region. Just a comfortable and simple home with a lot of love for them.

He Has a 3500, 2004 GMC Sierra, 4×4 Dully that has been giving him problems however, he do not want to get a new one not sure how the work will fall to pay for it. He is constantly doing oil changes, buying new tires so that he not broke down on the road just had to put a transfer casing on.

Please help this come true due to the Big Heart he has for others. You do not have to be related to him. The town had a 103 total house units and a total of 88 households and a population of 211 at the last census, zip code 71674 Watson, AR in Desha County.

I am thanking you for your consideration in this project.

  25. Hello my name is Stephanie Perez, I am writing in today to tell you a little bit about my mother and father inlaw named Gloria and Amado Perez… They are extremely wonderful genuine people that come from a small town called Pagosa Springs in Colorado! For the past 50 plus, they had lived on a ranch that consisted of 380 acres 20 miles out of Pagosa in an area known as Juanita.. They raised 11 wonderful children of their own together on that ranch that was right on the river.. Amado was a logger and worked along side many of his buddies back in the logging days and this is how he made a living for his family.. Gloria stayed on the ranch gardening tending to the children and canning goods for the months and years ahead to feed her family.. They also had sheep and lots of horses along with many farm animals such as chickens goats and even some cows… The ranch was handed down to my mother in law Gloria by her father and grandfather who also were the first generations that started the ranch.. Before raising her own children Gloria's mother and father past away at an early age and she was left to raise all her younger sibling on this same ranch… After Gloria married… She and Amado then had 11 children of their own whom they raised for the next 50 years on this ranch.. And one of whom I am blessed to be married to, their younger son Domingo Perez.. He is second to the last of his siblings born… I could go on and on about the history that this family has that has been past down through generations out here… But my main reason for writing is that sadly the ranch was sold last year due to many years of family disputes amongst Gloria's own siblings… All that remains of the ranch now is just a beautiful piece of land overlooking a valley in what used to be known as the Perez Ranch… And nobody will ever truly know the sacredness of this place or the many memories it held for generations.. The life that was bestowed upon this once lively place.. Things that can surely never be replaced only remembered in our hearts.. Gloria is 73 yrs old and Amado is going on 76 yrs old.. She is a survivor of cancer and they both have worked hard all of theyre lives just to have what they once worked so hard for taken from them… Together now 50 yrs they have beat and survived all odds of life and now recently moved to a town only 1/2 hour out of Pagosa called Bayfield Colorado.. They bought a smaller property with the remaining funds from the ranch that allowed them one acre of property with only a very tiny house that is in terrible condition… Along with a tiny guest house that is also very run down.. . But no matter what these people have never complained a day in their lives… They are always happy with what they have no matter what.. The most humblest people I have ever known.. And I have sure learned a lot from these two.. I am reaching out today in hopes you may read this story and hopefully just as this family has captured my heart they to will capture yours.. These people deserve a chance to live out the rest of their lives comfortably it would be a dream come true if you guys could make that happen for them!!!! Thanks for reading!!

    Sincerely,
    Stephanie Perez

  26. I am requesting a home make over for my grandparents. They have struggled hard for as long as I remember. My grandmother has major back problems and health problems and my grandfather suffered from an aortic aneurism that ruptured a year ago. He has had multiple surgeries and is lucky to be alive. My grandmother is now having to take care of my grandfather and she is barely able to get around herself. They need their house completely redone. It is my grandfather's childhood home and through all the years the floor has started to rot and in some places it is so soft I am scared they are going to fall through. They deserve to have a new home. They have always taken care of me and my sister and I want to help take care of them but I can't finiacially. It would mean the world to them to have a new home that is safe.

  27. Hi im Jordan. I am 25 living on my own in my great grandmothers old house. She passed away dec 2015. Her house is so so old and i cannot afford to fix it. I have cystic fibrosis and working full time. My health is number one and with an old house like this one is difficult to keep healthy because of the rain and it flooding my basement and leaking through my ceiling and roof. I do work full time but still cannot afford to pay someone to pretty much gut everything. Or start from the bottom. I am afraid the rain will start growing mold and ruining everything one day. And i get terribly sick. I dont beg for help at all but i am today to maybe get a chance. Anything would help. Thank you.

  28. Extreme Home Make Over,

I'm writing for a very important cause — not only as a community member — but as a parent.

American communities have been faced with a terrible heroin epidemic over the last few years — an epidemic which has now escalated into a public health crisis. The heroin epidemic has torn families apart and shattered the lives of many kids and their parents. I speak from experience in saying "these families have lived a nightmare." In our area (Rochester, NY), we don’t have many resources for our addicted children. So parents are often faced with the high cost of rehab, and having to send their kids out of the state for the desperate help they need.

Throughout my journey with my son, I’ve encountered so many obstacles. That includes simply finding proper treatment, dealing with health insurance denials, and a host of other issues. Our community needs so much more support in fighting this epidemic.

The sad truth is most families have no funds or health insurance for loved ones struggling with heroin addiction. And there are no or limited community education/awareness programs to stop this crisis.

So in the midst of this epidemic, I started an online Facebook group to support these parents and addicts (now at over 350 members). I did not ever want any parent to feel painfully alone — like I felt when I was first faced with this struggle. I wanted parents to have the resources they needed to get support, and also find help for their kids. Throughout my journeys, I have gratefully encountered a network of people to help me find treatment for these addicts.

I have been to Washington D.C. to rally with other parents, hoping to have our voices heard in this fight. I have also been to Albany, New York to speak with state Senators in the hope of improving treatment options for these addicts. Things have certainly started to change statewide in New York regarding better facilities and treatment options.

One crucial element to beating heroin addiction is to find a “sober living” environment after leaving a treatment facility. And this is where we are really lacking. Thankfully, I’ve met a lady in my community (Deb Tvrdik) who has set her sights on opening a “ sober living home" for girls. Even more hopeful — the town has allowed Deb to open the home (we’ve already named it the “Strong House”) as a safe environment for girls who are recovering addicts.

Not only is the town backing this project, but we also have the backing from my group of 350 members. In fact, we are having a fundraiser for seed money to get this house up and running. The Strong House is a perfect fit for these girls:

    * It's a 12-bedroom house with 7 ½ bathrooms.
    * It’s situated on 10 acres of serene and quiet land.
    * We want to offer them a sober living space, and also help them get jobs and assist them with transportation.
    * We want them to have the responsibility of paying rent and taking care of the house.
    * We also want to incorporate holistic approaches for their continued sobriety (yoga and other mind-easing actives).
    * We even have a plan for an area where their parents can stay when they visit.

Here is where we pray you can help us: The Strong House will be run strictly on donations and charities from the community. And the truth is, the house is livable — but still in need of major repairs and upgrades. Of course, we would be so grateful if you would consider helping us fight for the lives of our kids.

Please feel free to reach out with any questions.

    With Hope,
    Maryann Marshall

  29. Hola my name is Letticia Gutierrez, I love to watch your shows when I get the chance they always leave my heart filled with love and better look on life. Knowing there's angel's that do come into lives and giving them a new start while still holding on to what got them there and thank yall for giving my heart that. Well my story is a really rough and hard to put in order and I might not be selected but hey like I say "it doesn't hurt to try". It's just me and my mom now we live in a house that was brought here in 1956 when we moved in my step dad did some renovation to the house and after 6 years built a back house. They've been divorced for 13 years now he doesn't come around haven't seen him since I was 14. My Mom went back to school and got her a degree in medical assistance and she made it on her own till she became disabled going on three years ago due to an assault which we both have struggled really hard with for these three years. I'm her only child so I took what was laid out on the table and took the responsibility of taking care of my mother I wouldn't have it any other way she raised me and took care of me when I was diagnosed with GTD which is due to my third pregnancy is became lung cancer I had 7 months of chemotherapy and I've been cured going on 4 years. Thank the Lord I had 2 more pregnancy after that and altogether 5 miscarriages and my mom was and still is my rock through it all and now I'm on my 6th pregnancy which is my blessings I am now 6 months 3 weeks and my baby boy is doing great. Now for my plead of help is that since my mother has been disabled were still fighting for disability which is still in appeal,we've been making it the best we can on my income which gets us by I'm a waitress so its not always good. I've have ownership of our house for the past two years I have not been able to pay for our property taxes I have not been able to make any renovations which is badly need in both house. My front house which is where me and my mom live has a huge leak in the living room, our kitchen is a wreck the cabinets have fallen off the wall they have no doors and the flooring to our whole house is unleveling and old and with my son coming soon I hardly have room in my room to have him comfortable. But its livable I just would like to have a chance to give my mom and my son a better life that they more than deserve. Our back house is in the same conditions which would help us as a rent house but is no longer suitable to rent so there goes some of our financial help. Its just has gotten really heavy for me to carry and thank god every day for making me a strong woman and for helping me overcome my struggles and obstacles. So I'm reaching out to you in hopes you might be my Angel and give me a fresh start in mine my mothers and my son life and thank you so much just for at least reading my comment and my prayer

  30. It all started off the end and beginning of my sophomore year of high school where me and my mom mom had to move from our house because rent went up and it was to expensive not even my older brother even putting in money trying to make ends meet to where him and his girlfriend had to rent a room out and me and my mom had to move to my friends house in Richmond ca, for a few months it wasn't good after awhile she kicked us out and for days we had to use the money we were saving to stay at a hotel and afterwards we had to move to my moms sister house in bay point ca for a few months is traveling back and forth waking up at 4:30 to her get to work in San Francisco and me getting to school in Richmond my mom doesn't have a car so it makes everything we do s little harder even grocery shopping so we have to limit what we get because we have to get on the bus and walk to carry our food a little months after staying at my aunties she told us we had to move which was devastating to her she's stressing and how and where are we going to live so she found us a shelter and we missed a school day and we moved and now where here we've been here for some months but we got news that all the families here have to move because there making it a single shelter so now once again my mom is trying to find us a place and something that she can afford within the time this is all going to start happening and no staff or anything notified the families someone told us so nobody is aware and basically all the families are going to get out out on the street and on top of that there going to put my mom back to part time instead of full time so less money less things she could afford I'm actually graduating early on July 15 trying to get a job and hurry to help get money for everything we need with me only being 16 although our story may not be worse or compare to these other that are way worse we just want a place that we can call our own even with or without a car we can live in the San Pablo ca area where we can catch the bus and just be comfortable living instead of stressing it's really hard her not getting us what we need sometimes and me almost be 17 me getting older and her not being able to do what she wants for me I'm just hoping someone sees this and reaches out probably not but worth the try I just want my own room for last year maybe I have to share with her and I just think she needs a break something that doesn't make her stress thank you for your time

  31. Hi my name is Lori and I'm writing to you not for myself but for my Bestest friend of 35+ years now, the past few years she (Alicia and her husband Mitchell) have had several obstacles to endure since they got married they was also high school sweethearts any how 4 years ago she lost her only sibling Brother to murder, it devastated her, then soon after they had a bad house fire, she lost her job due to the loss of transportation she is a medical assitant, just when she thought things might get better 1 year ago her 18 year daughter was also murdered same way she left behind a son which she is now of course has a hard time dealing with everyday struggles her house which they own is falling apart and needs lots work she can't afford to fix she has 15 year daughter living with her and is praying she will soon have her grand baby in her care but needs to fix the house to.. I just feel she has tried to do the best she can and never asks for anything in return so as her best friend I'm asking if you could help her family to get a fresh start and I will leave this in the Lord's hand as he Loves us all and trust his will be done Thank You ms Lori Newlin

  32. I feel my grandmother Martha Mitchell should be chosen because she is 79 years old and she takes care of her two handicapped daughter.. One is physically disabled and the other one has mental issue.. She's a retired cook and also retired from the toy company. She's a hard working , dedicated ,, loving ,, godfearing woman who goes out her way to help any and everybody .. She deserves it and this is why I feel my grandmother should be nominated for your extreme home make over. God bless you and everyone who helps to make these dreams come true

  35. Hi, My names is Chardavion Johnson and I'm 16 years old. My grandmother is 67 years old and can know longer work anymore. The house she's living in now is totally run down. The floors are caving in certain areas, the walls are coming apart and she just can't afford to pay for the necessary repairments. I live with my grandma and she does everything in her power to take care of the both of us and the house is tearing apart right before our eyes. She's been staying in this house over a decade. It really hurts me to see her try to take care of me with school and things that I need and the house is falling apart. This all she has and to see it fall apart is devastating. I pray and I believe that there will come a time where she won't have to worry about the house and hopefully this is the time. I really do thank you and the Lord will surely bless you guys for what you're doing.

  37. Hi my name is Lorie Lowery . I am writing you on behalf of my brother and his wife . My brother and wife deserve a house for all the things they have done for their kids. There story begins 20 yes ago when they had there first child together a boy that died one we after birth . They hung on and had 2 more children together. My brother adopted his wife's 2 boys also. Well since they have ha to take care of there grandchildren in hard times that there children have faced. They have no money to build a decent home to be able to give the grandkids they are taking care of proper things they deserve. Yet they take these kids and try to keep them living a normal life until they can go back home. Than now my brother cannot work a decent paying job because he had a stroke than a month later back surgery and more surgery on his back to go. Also he needs the tendons fixed in his hand. So the only income they are trying to do everything they are doing is with his wife's job. And it does not pay well. They live in the country in a basement unable to build on after all this has happened to my brother . All the medical expenses. I would be so ever thankfully and humble if you would consider them for a dream home to be able to give the grandkids a nice home at grandma's and grandpa's . My brother was also in the army. I have been working on this letter for 3 yes not knowing where to send. God Bless
    Little sis
    Lorie Lowery

  38. This is not for me, but for my sister. Her kind and selfless actions leaves her little time for the house. She and her husband work full time jobs in Healthcare and civil service and attend all baseball, volleyball and soccer games for both kids. They also take care of homesteads of both their parents as they are up in age and not all of us kids live close except her and her husband. They represent what people should be and they lead by example of taking care of family. She does not expect help from anyone and this makes me want more for her. Giving her a home makeover would alleviate so much stress and make her unbelievably happy.

  39. Hi my name is Isaiah I live with my grandparents in a trailer home. They have raised my aunts and uncles kids here as well as I. This trailer home isn't gonna last much longer they have put so much money into it just for something else to go wrong. I love my grandparents with all my heart and its time to give back to them so please help me give them a home where they can live the rest of there lives in. Thank you

  40. MY DAUGER MAGGIE DUCKWORTH WAS BURNED 95 PERCENT IF HER BODY HER GRANDMA IS TAKING CARE OF HER SHE NEEDS A A NEW HOUSE

  41. Her name is Patsy Ross, she is 66 years old, disabled and living on a very limited income.
She is unable to find any sort of reliable help from her friends or community members and cannot afford a loan due to her limited income.
She lives in a Masonry Block house with a flat Roof, built in 1954. She has many concerns about living in such a dated home all alone. She is threatened with bad electrical wiring throughout the entire house, as well as not having ANY insulation at all. Her poor roof is flat and is majorly soft in places. She also deals with black mold in four different rooms in the home. She has tried everything she can think of to kill and get rid of it to no prevail. Her floors are concrete and is heating her house with wall heaters.
There is just so many dangerous details about the conditions of Patsys home. I really feel she could use this help desperately and deserves it more than any human I know. She really is the most admirable woman, not having the best of health and being disabled with a severe history of back problems as well as dealing with a drop foot condition.
Patsy still goes about her daily routine, gardening, caring for her animals, cleaning, cooking and everything in between. She's amazingly strong willed, however she simply cannot do everything on her own any longer.
Please, all I ask is that she be considered. It would be amazing to help out someone who has done nothing but put others first her entire life.

  45. My name is Amber, I have 3 beautiful boys and another son due in October of 2016. My story is really each of my boys' story also. I began as a 18 year old soon to be mother. I quit school to work full time and carried 3 jobs for quite sometime, finding places I could work with my son along. From birth he was a special needs child. His father was absent and rights terminated, but determined to give him a life he deserved. I had gotten married and had another son, Demetri, my boys being 2 years apart. My oldest never knowing his biological father was soon to be adopted by my husband at the time. Out marriage began to fall apart, and divorced was filed and my oldest son was left at the corner as his father picked up only Demetri, leaving Aiden confused and hurt… Deeply. Aiden never got closure although there were plans he and Adrian ( ex husband ) would mend Adrians mistake that following week. Tragically, that following week never came. Adrian died tragically in a fatal car accident into a tree. To make matters worse my sister and him were very close and she was trying to keep up with him to get him home safely and saw the entire thing. I now had to tell both my children their father passed away. It took me 3 days before I could manage to do it. 6 years has passed and since then I had to quit my job to care for my oldest given his special needs on top of 1 tramautic event after another and my now 10 year old son Demetri having severe anxiety, and depression slowing getting worse since the passing of his father. Thankfully I receive social security for survivors benefits for my son, and disability for caretaking for my oldest w Autism spectrum disorder. I've had depression, survivors guilt, and the shame of most my family criticizing me for not working these last 3 years regardless of my children's needs and positions theyve been in and live each day, yet that part of my family isn't around to even be involved in the first place. I was also in an auto accident myself 3 years ago this December which has left me w a permanent injuy between my shoulder blades making it difficult to do even basic things some days. Supporting my now family of 5, we were blessed by a wonderful woman named Steph. Steph had had her house on the market and through word of mouth we connected and she willingly set us up w a rent to own contract paying very little each month, just needing to save up for the down payment and it's ours. We are in the town of Newton in the country in 2 acres. We've already began brainstorming how to expand the house. Also making our beautiful attic into a master bedroom, bathroom suite, and expand the house out in the front… Steph was so kind to sell us this home w $20,000 in equity which is a good start. I want my children to at least have peace, and comfort in their home, feeling their home is their safe haven. Such as having a dining room big enough to eat meals in … I've seen the show so often and always dreamed my family, more so my boys, would have an opportunity to feel that love from others such as a show like this… Who really really cares…. This leaving a lasting impression on our hearts forever. Thank you very much ahead of time, no matter who is chosen. I love youguys, just for what you do and have done for so many families already. One last thing… We just last week decided to plant a tree in memory of Adrian, and have plans to make that a peaceful resting place for Adrian, and also those who need that time also.. A big stepping stone for us all.

  47. Hi. My name is Kathy. I have a friend who has lived on her property for over 40 years. She rented it for the first 20 years and then the owners agreed to sell the house and property to her for a bargain price. Now after 20 years of renting and 20 years of ownership the house she lives in is approximately 100 years old. and is about to fall down. I am certain it is a fire hazard and could potentially be dangerous. She is one of the most wonderful and kind people I know. The kind of person who would help anyone who asks. She is not one who will ask for help so I am asking for her. Thank you in advance for an opportunity to apply!

  48. My name is Melissa. My husband and I recently got married after living together for 8 years. I graduated with a bachelors degree in social work and decided to be at stay at home mom. We have been foster parents for 2 years, taking in large sibling groups and medically fragile children. We have a 5bdrm home we absolutely love. The area is nice, it has a large yard and it allows us to help children in need. However it has major structural issues as the basement walls are severely bowing in. This has gotten worse over the past year. We are contemplating moving due to this issue even though we love everything else about the area we are in. We are asking for help so we can continue to help children. We have a son that is 4 and I am 6 months pregnant. I also have cerebral palsy but I am mobile.

  49. Hi! My name is Pam I am writing in regards to my fathers home. My father is 82 years old and has experienced a lot this past year and could definitely use a home makeover. My sister lives with him who has a learning disability. My mother passed away on April 17 of this year; also my husband at age of 45 passed away on January 4th and Dad had a heart attack on 2/16/16. His home is one that him and my mom and sister shared for 20 years it is in desperate need of makeover. My mom became ill and was not able to care for the home. My dad is sleeping in a chair due to the nature of the home. My dad just does not have the funds available to have house remodeled due to living on social security. I could send photos of how bad the home is. He does not want to leave his home due to the memories of my mother living there with him.

  53. hello. my name is HOlly Smith. I am coming to you in hopes that you would bless my father b
(bless his heart), to be able to call the property we once had made a home, home again. a lot has happened in my lifetime. my mother died when my sister and i were only 3 and 4 years old. my father fought relentlessly to get us from the staTE AND TAKE CARE OF US GIRLS SINGLE HANDEDLY. He is momdad hes provided for us my whole life without once ever giving up. he has worked roofing and cutting trees which is very hard manual labor with a man who suffers from arthiritis gout two hernias which one he needs to go to the doctor for but wont because hes a stubborn old turd. but never once can i remember growing up did i not have electric or water i may not have had tv or brand name clothes but i have always had a roof over my head and my belly has always been full. my father does for so many people and he doesnt get the respect he deserves it seems as if all the women he has been with has passed away my mother and my step sisters mother carol were the world to him his currrent girl friend is not doing to well as of right now either and it pains me to think we will loose her also i dont believe my father will continue to try to make it much longer after that would happen my older sister rhonda had a baby boy which my father has raised since he was about & or * months old she had hiom in prison and her baby daddys sister took him initially from her at the hospuital and he has recently been placed in her care which she was unable to handle so he is now with a family that we do not know which is killing my father because he is the one who has been raising his grandson so its as if everything is being ripped out of his life and its killing him.he as of right now lives in a housde with no electricity no water no air conditioning nothing at all which makes me cry myself to sleep evry night. the reason for that is not to be discussed until furthr interveiwsn god willing and due to the incident which ripped my fathers heaart out to begin with which was back in 2007 my father was up in beele florida living the river life getting away from the drama of this here town while i stayed and cared for the property and the trailer my father bought for us girls so we would never have anything to worry about as far as shelter and a home goes but i was wild and i got myself in a world of trouble and ended up in jail but i couldnt contact my father due to him not having a cell phone at the time so while he was away and i was locked up the meth addicts of my neighborhood scrapped out my fathwers hard worked for trailer which was our HOME. THEY TOOK EVERYTHING FROM THE POWER POLE TO THE WELL AND PUMP THEY TOOK IT ALL EVEN THE AXLE THAT THE TRAILOR WAS BUILT ON AND LEFT NOTHING BUT A PILE OF PVC PIPING WOOD PILES NAILS EVERY THEY BEGAN DUMPING WOOD TRUCK LOADS OFF ON THE PROPERTY FILLING IT TO BECOME THE WAY IT WAS BEFORE MY FATHER BUILT THE HOME I ONLY LONG FOR ONCE MORE. HE WORKED HARD ON THAT PROPERTY SINGLE HANDEDLY PLANTED EVERY TREE LAIED EVERY PIPE LINE DUG THE SEPTIC HE MADE THAT WOODED AREA A GARDEN OF EDEN ALL BY HIMSELF AND THEY CAME AND RIPPED THAT FROM HIM WHEN ALL HE HAS EVER DONE FOR ANYONE IS TRTY TO HELP THEM . THERE IS SO MUCH MORE TO THIS STORY PKLEASE TAKE YOUR TIME AND THINK ABOUT HEKLPING THIS MAN IM NOT SURE HES GONNA MAKE IT MUCH LONGER AND THE ONLY THING IN THIS LIFE I WANT IS TO MAKE SURE MY FATHER IS BACK HOME WHERE HE BELONGS SO EVEN THOUGH WE MAY NOT HAVE ELIJAH OR THE FINER THINGS IN LIFE WE HAVE OUR HOME BACK AGAIN AND GOD FORBIDD HE WAS TO PASS HE COULD PASS KNOWING HIS FAMILY IS SAFE AS SAFE AS HE MADE SURE WE WERE GROWING UP .

  54. Hello! I am so excited to find this because I have been wanting to nominate a family for years for a home makeover. To be honest, I dont even know them. I drive by their home often. The man is disabled and wheelchair bound (I believe he is paralized). They live in a trailer that has to be difficult for him to move around. But more than that, I watch him work outside rebuilding cars, tractors, anything motorized. He does this all by himself from his wheelchair. I have been watching him for years. I always wish that he had a home and garage that is handicap accessible where he could do what he loves. I don't know his story. I do know that he has to be a very
strong willed, hard working, DETERMINED man that
refuses to give up. I would love more than anything to be able to drive by and see him with a home and garage where he can manipulate and work easily and enjoy what he loves to do. This man and his family would be amazing candidates for your show! Thank you so much for your consideration!

  57. My name is Brandy. I live in Clendenin, WV. Our town was struck by a historic flood last Thursday. Many people lost everything they had, some even their lives. Our whole town is devastated. Many offices, businesses, and most of our school systems were all flooded. We have several family members that were affected. Some lost everything (no flood insurance), some lost most (and had some flood insurance), and others homes were structurally damaged (no flood insurance). We really need your help in any way that you can help. Our community, state, and even states across the country have came together to help in every way that we can (cleaning supplies, showers, food, clothes, ect) but the real work hasn't begun yet….rebuilding, remodeling, ect. Please…help in anyway that you can! Thank you.

  58. Hello, my name is Brandi. I am asking for help for my mother and father in law. We live in Central Louisiana and their home and our Grandpa's home was damaged horribly by the flood waters in March 2016. They were focused more on getting Grandpa's house completed before theirs. Both of them have been displaced to a family members rent home until their home can be done. They have been exhausted from all of the work and time put into fixing Grandpa's home and have become too tired to get their home completed. Can you please consider their situation. Thank you and be blessed

  59. Hello My name is Tawanda. My parents are my world. They have done so much for my brothers and I. About 10 years ago my mom was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer, thank God she survived and beat cancers butt. My parents purchased a fixer upper before she found she was diagnosed with cancer. They did a little work on the house but had to stop due to my mom's illness. They are currently living in a mobile home that is infested with mold. My parents are always sick and I tell them it's because of the mold. To top it off my mom runs a home daycare and I really pray the mold isn't affecting the children. My dad works a full time job, he then mows about 6 to 10 houses per week. They also have a cleaning service where they are committed to cleaning 1 building biweekly. They work hard, however they can't afford to fix this house. I pray to God every day that something good happens. They get the blessing they deserve. I love them with all my heart and I know this would mean the world to them. Thanks in advance and God bless you all!!

Please help us we really could use a new home to a new start in life.

  61. Our story begins with my mom, stepdad and me. I was raised in a modest home. My parents weren't able to have kids of their own so they helped raise 3 nephews and 2 nieces not to mention the kids that I would bring home and all 5 of my cousins friends. We ended up "out growing" our 3 bedroom home. So, we searched and found a ranch that is 1100 sq ft but has a unfinished basement, we had room to grow. They placed our other home up for rent and rented to a family with 3 little girls. That didn't end well. They rented with their hearts like they do everything and ended up losing the home. Through all this my parents continued to work hard at their careers but something was missing. I went away to college and after my first year was completed I came home during the summer and wasn't able to return, come to find out I had a rare heart condition and within 4 weeks I was having open heart surgery. It hit us all hard. They went back to work but it wasn't the same. They had spent their career's in long term care (nursing home) helping the elder. They decided after praying to God, they would leave their good paying jobs and devote their life to helping kids. So, they gave up their nice cars, money and the ability to do what they wanted and are now foster parents. They have worked so hard on making their home nice but it needs so much work (for an example there isn't even flooring in the hallway). They have done what they can but that isn't an area where they really know what they are doing nor do they have money. Their dream is to have 2 bedrooms added in order to help more children. Right now they only have 1 room with bunk beds. We took a young boy last year with a past NOBODY should ever have to live in…today I'm proud to say I have a little brother! He has been adopted. So, really they only have 1 bed where another child can be placed. Their dream is not for themselves but for kids. They have called and asked a couple of contractors if they ever donate time/supply but no luck. The agency they now work for tells them all the time how much they love them and that they need more rooms to help kids. That always breaks my mom's heart. She can't say no. These two people have always done without (even when working) to help family, friends and strangers. They have paid power bills, phone bills, insurance, cell phones (even paid for my friend to have a phone her 11th & 12th grade year oh and also paid for her entire senior prom with all the "fixings". To say they deserve it, would be an understatement. Shannon (my stepdad who has be a dad to me) works at Lowe's to get 10% discount to help fix up the home. Being a foster parent isn't easy. My mom goes every day. She helps out with school, doctor appointments, sports, paperwork, and still helps a foster son they had for almost 2 years until he turned 18 and decided to check out. There are many people that need this home makeover and I'm sure they are just as deserving as my parents. I would love for them to have this once in a lifetime opportunity. AND anyone involved in this project would have a field day…from the driveway all the way to the house.

  64. Hello! My name is Samantha. Here is my story. I come from a family of military service members. My father retired from the USMC, my brother retired from the US Navy. My sister served in the US Army and I did too. I however am disabled. My father bought this house 45 years ago and both he and my mom passed on. Now I am trying to get this house and keep it in the family. When my father passed my mother didn't have enough money to keep up with all of the bills so she had to get a reverse mortgage. I feel like a failure because I am the one in the family that had to always ask for help. But I now have the chance to do something that would actually make my parents proud, have my family not look down on me and I can keep the house in the family. I also can help a family that is very close to my heart by fostering their children so that they won't have to go into the welfare system as orphins. The house was built in the early 60's and it's kind of rarely hanging on! And the space is not helping anything. My brother is dealing with liver disease anfd there is not a room for him to sleep in. My depression took me to 250lbs but I've been working to get that straight. Please help our family. Thank you.

  67. My name is Tess. I am a 7th grade Reading and English teacher. I have four beautiful girls. Gabby is 11, Gracie just turned 8, Harper is 2, and Sophie is a little over 4 months old. Gabby is my husbands step daughter. My husband, Kelvin, works all over the United States as a Clinical Specialist for Masimo. He's only home on the weekends. I'm pretty much a single parent through the week. We live in the house he grew up in. It was the house everyone used to come to for teen parties when we dated years ago. We have been remodeling for the past 3-4 years. He does it all himself on the weekends to save money. I am in school receiving my Specialist in Instructional Leadership and working as a full time teacher and mommy of four. We both list our grandmothers last year and it's been hard on us both. On top of that we had two miscarriages in between our youngest two girls. We have outgrown this house and are going deeper in debt to try she finish fixing it up. It's been a real challenge on our marriage as well. We hardly ever see each other or spend time together because on weekends when my husband is home, he stays busy trying to finish projects around here, helping his other grandma out, or doing other projects for my mom and sister. He never stops going and I am always piling more projects on him. It would be a miracle from God if we could get this house finished and have the girls spaced out. It would have a huge impact on our marriage as we would actually be able to enjoy one another and not constantly plan our next debt to finish another project.

  68. I'm hoping you can help me fulfill my dream of becoming a fairy godmother for single moms. Three years ago, I was laid off from my job. I was a single mom at the time, (divorced, custody half time). It was the hardest period of my life and I ended up hospitalized for depression. I received public assistance and completed a second masters to earn a teaching certificate. Every month was a nightmare trying to make bills. I eventually met my wonderful partner, finally finished my teaching certificate and we are about to close on an eclectic and unique lake house near my new teaching job! Yay! Now that my life has improved, I want to give something back. During my period of unemployment I worked as a spiritual counselor/medium, so I understand the spiritual needs of struggling women. Often they need meditation, relaxation, peace and support they can't afford. I would like to build a free reprieve for these women.

The house we bought originally had a hot tub room attached to the house, but they removed the walls and turned it into a carport (the hot tub is gone). I would like to restore this to hold font rituals to rejuvenate women going through crisis. I'm an interesting person and my life and vision would probably make an entertaining story! Thanks for reading.

Let me tell you a little about my family.
My father age of 43 loves to build thing recently he built my turtle a new aquarium he put as much work as he could into it.
He has been wanting to remodel our house for years because he dad built it way back when he was a child at the age of 5.
Get he can't do as much as he used to and he's getting older we have never had a good home to live in but we have always had eatchother and that's what counts.
My mom has heart problems and I figure she won't live much longer because she don't want to listen to her doctor.
My and my boyfriend are the only ones that works and can't move out in my families conditions I feel the need to take care of them all the time make sure they have what they need I am 21 years old and can't even afford to go to school right now.
Then my two brothers who live with us are huge gamers and are extremely lazy and don't do anything my dad who just won't kick them out because he feels responsible even though they are of age to work and buy their own house.
Anyways I just really want no we need this or atleas I do.
I think my dad does to he tried everything is this world to make stuff better but he can't remodel the house that is falling down on our heads around us by himself.
Like I said me and my bf are the only ones in the house that works and we pay the bills.
    We just really need help.

  71. There is so much wrong with our house that I don't know where to start. There are 6 of us living in a 3 br 1 bath. The house needs work throughout and I can't even get insurance on it because there was a room added on to the front and it isn't painted or anything outside. My mother is living with us but we just can't afford to fix up this house. My mother's house is bigger, but it needs more work than this one. It has 4 BR 1 and 1/2 baths and a partially finished attic. There was bad water breaks in it a couple of years ago and now there is mold in the basement and the furnace is ruined. If you can help us to get either home livable, we would greatly appreciate it. My husband and mother are permanently disabled and my son has Autism. Most months we struggle to make ends meet. Please, can you help us?

    Sincerely,

    Tiffany, 33
    John, 38
    Ruth, 53
    Jessica, 16
    Tristan, 15
    Brianna, 10
