  1. I would like to know how to try to get my moms house redone on the show? I'm sorry we don't really have a hard luck story but our house is currently a potenial fire hazard with the breaker box throwing sparks and flames. and we need new faucets for our bathtub. right now we are having to use pliers to turn the water on and off to take a bath. we have no money and we don't need anything fancy. just need to be safe.

  2. Hi. My name is Deana. Myself and my husband are both disabled combat veterans struggling to make ends meet. Although you can't tell by just looking at us that we are disabled, trust that we are. We both suffer from severe PTSD developed from our multiple tours to Iraq. I also have a Tramatic Brain injury from taking a blow to the head while down range (tour in Iraq), among several other injuries. I am injured literally from head to toe. I recently went thru a major surgery to try and correct one of my disabilities. It was only a fifty/fifty chance and it failed. My husband and I own our home but had to put all of our life savings into the purchase of it. The home is 115 years old and even though the previous owner tried to renovate it, they decided it was a lost cause. There is a draft that flows throughout the house and the foundation has "settled" resulting in the house leaning, uneven floors and multiple other issues. Our heater doesn't work no matter how many times we have it maintenenced or fixed. With myself having an equalibrium problem, a malnurishment issue, and symptoms of Vertigo (currently doin testing to confirm diagnosis) having no heat in the cold ohio winter months and uneven floors don't help with my dizzy and fainting spells. Please we are in desperate need of a livable home for my husband, myself and our two daughters, Nevaeh (5), and Savanah (4). Thank you for taking the time to read our story. God Bless!

  3. Hi my name is Porsche I'm from Chicago my grandmother is 83years old who lost her husband and basically lost hope. She has had her property for over 40years and has become a complete dump. I hate to see her live in misery she hates to be home no more holidays are celebrated there's no where to gather family or friends but she strong willed and deserve a bit of happiness before she has no more time left. I just want my family together and if my grandmother home gets improved we can make her feel at peace n everything she worked for don't fade away.

  4. Dear Ty,
im 14 and im the youngest of five. On September 11,2002
my grandfather died of a heart attack. when he died it was like the connections between the family memebers died and we just didnt have it in us to stay together as a family. My mom has a nocontact order on her so i dont see or talk to her and i dont see or talk to my dad because it just hurts to know that he doesnt want me around. i dont talk to my brother or sisters, we dont get along. So i live with my aunt kelsey, my cousin phillip and my grandmother juedell. the house we live in is three bedrooms and in one bathroom there is problems with the tub draining and in the other bathroom we have a problem with mold. me being the teenager in the house i dont really have a room i sleep on a futon in the dining room and we have five dogs. the house we live in we can barely make the payments on and the house is dangerous for my 11 month old cousin and my aunt who just had surgery. neither of my guardians can work due to disability problems and my aunt just having surgery. me being 14 i cant work. and we dont have a car either so if we want to go anywhere we have to walk. and with it getting colder its harder for us to get where we need to go and i know its a little early for christmas wishes but Ty if you can please come help my family. my granmother and aunt pretty much raised me and they deserve a place to call home and that can theirs.the one thing i want for christmas is for my family to get a house that will last for a while so we odnt have to move around alot. i dont want my cousin to have the life i had where i bounced around between my moms house, my dads house, and my grandmothers house, with being in fostercare in between once.he deserves to have a better life and thats all i wnat for christmas so Ty please come help us thats all i can ask for is that you come help us

  5. Hi my name is Marissa Rodriguez. I'm 18years old and I live in Oklahoma City. My Mom and Dad owned the only house I can ever remember living in until they got divorced, I was 11 years old and mine and my two other sisters worlds came crashing down. After my dad left , he left us to take care of ourselves. My mom was then a single mother raising 3 kids. We were all sooo close and I love my sisters so much. My mom was working a good job but she was gone from morning to night just to pay bills. We barley seen her me and my big sister took care of my little sister. Me and my sister both got pregnant a year apart, still all living in this house my mom took over. It was so hard to live there with two kids there was no heat or air, it was roach infested from the neighbors who moved in next door and our kitchen… Our kitchen was the worst. It was so unlivable. As a young girl k always wished we lived in a better place or that we could have our home remodeled but there was never any money. After a year my mom had another baby too and was also laid off from her job of 16years. I started working at braums when I was 14 just to help pay bills nd go to school. My daughters father was in jail and went down the wrong path before he got my meet her. We then applied for housing because we just couldn't afford to keep up with the house so we moved a year later to section 8. My mom still owns the house till this day and we left a lot of our stuff there that was all the memories we have but the neighbors always break in. Our windows are so old they don't close nd they are so thin. I've also been doing nails since I was 12 I picked it up as a hobby when I didn't have anything to do. It is now my dream to do nails and I have my own manicure table that I got for my birthday and I do my friends nails on the side to help pay bills. I dropped out of school after I had my baby but I got my GED right after and I'm now attending votech for nails. It's my dream to do nails and I just wish I could have a better home for my daughter and brother.

  6. Hello, my name is Angie Martinez and I live in Hobbs, New Mexico. I have been working for about 3 years at the Walmart as one of the managers and I met a man that has touched my heart. He is a very hard working, funny, and big hearted man that I have met. Recently we found out that he took in 6 kids because his niece/cousin had given them up and instead of them ending up in foster care he took them in his home. He had struggle a bit to put together things for these kids and a few associates from Walmart gathered some things for them. He really needs all the help he can get. A few weeks ago we had gotten a lot of rain here in hobbs and his electricity went out well come to find out his electricity burnt in the house so now he don't have electricity. He needs a lot of help to give those kids a better life. He is such a blessing to these kids that he would greatly appreciate such great gesture. If you could help him out in any way would be great. Thank you for all you do.

  8. PLEASE HELP. In 2010 I was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. I was a single mother raising two daughters until I meet my current husband in 2007 we were married in July 2010 I had just turned 40. A month and a half later I was fighter for my life. We lived in a one bedroom apartment. My mother and father in law were giving my husband and I a house but it was not livable. We were spending all our free time working on the house until I got sick. We found a larger home to rent at $450 per month but therefore did not have funds to continue working on the house. Since then both my daughters have graduated and moved out. Both my husband and I are back to work but with all the medical bills, and the large about of rent we have to pay for a home that trips breakers at least twice a day, is had to heat, has mold throughout (of which I am allergic) and a leaky roof that the landlord refused to fix. Now I received a note from him that he is going to raise our rent. We cannot afford this. I have been looking for another place to rent and cannot find anything as I raise puppy for the hearing impaired. I found a trailer that we could put on the lot with the house but no one will loan us the money due to the large amount of medical bills. I am a Postmaster and help people every day. My husband is a mechanic and works long hours either at his job or down at his parents barn on family and friend's cars. I have gone through so much with this cancer that should not have even effect me (due to my age) and I feel with all of this I am still going through it. Can you please help get our home livable so we can continue to help people wthat are hearing impaired y roof ble to work for two years and my husband being fired for taking care of me not once but twice

  10. Hi my name Tamra and I live in the Covington,Ga area. I'm not asking for myself , Im asking for Regina. She was a hard-working woman who is homeless. She currently lives near bridge in the woods. She emotionally, physically, and very spiritually happy. She believes that God will lead her where she needs to go. I am here to say she needs help and a home. It is very cold down here and without that extra help, her nights will be even colder. Please help Regina. We can only do little but, little will make a change. Thank you!

  12. I am requesting on behalf of one of the most spirited and loving 76 year old youngsters that I know!!! Sherry owns a house, several buildings and a couple of barns on several acres that have all gone into terrible disrepair over the years. She lost her husband two years ago; actually before then, because of his mental and physical decline. She was a trick rider and barrel racer for years and performed the rodeo circuit all over the country. She has an incredibly loving and soft heart so she houses about 14 dogs and 5 cats at this time. She wants to rebuild her barns, pens and the paddocks back up so that she can start putting her horses back to work by teaching youngsters how ride and barrel race. Her house is in pretty bad shape as well, she needs plumbing work done as she has no running water to the bathroom. She has no heating or air conditioning as well. She uses fans in the summer and her fireplace and a small heater in the winter. Sherry still works outside of the home full time as an educational special education aide for a local school. She worked for Coke as an accountant years ago and she has the best stories about her dad!!! She has very little money to do all the repairs to make this dream a reality. The dream of taking care of hurt and unwanted dogs and cats, taking better care of her horses and putting them to work doing what they love to do and the dream to teach others her love of barrel racing and riding!!! She would also love to take a real shower some day!!!
I pray that you will consider Sherry for one of your projects without thinking of her age. She is spry and healthy and plans to be around a long time and wants to find someone to take the reins when it's time!
    Thank you.

  14. My name is Na'Tori McNealey. I am fifteen years old. I attend Evangelist Temple Church Of God In Christ On 326 S. Mill Street in Kansas city, KS. My church is very very old. It was built long ago. For some odd reason, the church was built on top of a well. With the building being so old, it is tearing down. one day we had a bad rain store. Some way, some how, one of the pipes busted and fell through the celling in the kitchen area. Water was every where! Our pastor, David R. Pruitt, made some calls and got it fixed, so we thought. He recently told us that there must be still a pipe that is busted because the water is starting to come into the church. Also, the church is sinking in. If you walk to the back of the building, the church is starting to cave in, and the same thing is happening to the floors inside of the church. THe foundation is wearing away to absolutely nothing! The church has done so much for me and has been here for me through everything. Every hospital stay, visit, through all my sicknesses and illnesses. The least i can do is help them and show a piece of my appreciation. We really need this. We are in a torn down part of town, and a lot of youth are around, but they won't come over to the church because it doesn't even look interesting to them. I think this will also expand out congregation, especially with youth. Please help us out! God Bless!

  16. I would like to nominate a dear friend of mine. He and his family live in the small town of Taylor Az. His mom was a single mother for the majority of her children's lives and now that she can no longer work due to health problems her son takes care of her and his younger sister. They live in a small trailer that has alot of issues such as heating problems there doors don't shut right and well all in all it needs alot of work that he can't afford. I think that they deserve a new house or at least an upgrade to the one they have.

  18. Hello, my name is kayla and i am 16 years old. I live with my mom in a small town in Washington named Doty. We have been living in this house for 2 years and before that were in an apartment 20 times worse than this for 8 years. We are currently struggling to afford rent and have been since we moved in. This is a older house around 30-35 years old and is still in an okay condition but it definitely could use repairs. It currently has Single-pane windows and the window in my room is broken. All the heat on our house escapes through them and our house is an icebox during the winter. There is even mold in the windows. Its literally falling apart each day. It has no gutters, the porch is settling and our screen door doesn't stay shut and also lets out heat. We had to move out of our apartment because when i was 10 i got very sick with a heart disease called Kawasaki disease and we are almost positive that it was caused by the place we were living in. I lived with an aneurysm in my right coronary artery until i was 12 and faced many health issues after the fact. We don't own our house that we are in now, but would love to own a house of our own someday.

  19. Hi !
I thought I would write and ask for my brother and sister in law. It all started when my sister in law lost her job with a major company that was part of Ford Motor Company. She lost her job and to make a long story short they ended up losing their home.
They moved out of state and tried to start over and that did not work out . They moved back to their home state and got decent jobs.
They had a friend who had an older home sitting empty and he said he would sell to them with no money down and he would finance it for 10 years. They were very excited as it was a great opportunity to own their own home with no money down.
They got all the papers signed and the home needed a lot of work but they were starting to fix it up and trying to make it livable. They first had the home rewired and put new plumbing in. They were spending ALL their savings and things were going along pretty good until she started getting horrible headaches. My husband and I had come to visit from Florida where we live and the first day we got here we got a call from other family members that my sister in law had been found in bed unresponsive. As it turned out she had an annuresum that burst in her brain. She was in intensive care for weeks. Although they had insuance through their employer their hospital bill is huge and to make matters worse she now has 4 more annuresums that must be removed. She did all her therapy and was able to return for work. When she gets the next 4 removed she will have have to be off of work for another 8 weeks. So far she has been denined any disability. It seems the harder they try the worse in the hole they go. This is not a large home just very ordinary but I fear they will lose the money they have put into it. The price of the home was $40,000.00. My brother in law works on the house everyday when he is not working but the money is running out.. As of Jan they will have to begin paying payments and the rent where they live and still no place to live. Family has tried to help but the economy is bad in the state where they live and everyones funds are very limited. If only a couple of rooms could get done so they could live in part it would be a tremendous help to them. Just thought I would write on their behalf. I know miracles can happen it you try. Thank you for your time in listening.

    Sincerely,

    Debbie Hamilton

  20. Hi Ryan my name is Felicia i am a single mom with 3 kids. Their dad is in jail for the last 4 years, so I moved in with my grandparents about 3 years ago. Now I can't leave because my grandmother went in for a hip replacement and had a major stroke effecting her hole left side. She went to rehab for 6 months and she never got her left side back, so now she is in a hospital bed in our living room. Not only is she sick my grandfather fell down our staris a month back and broke his hip. He is also living in our living room. I have a caregiver here for them during the the day that sits in the kitchen until my grandparents need something cause their is no room for her in the living room. They are too young to live like this and I feel bad that I can't give them more then what I'm giving them! It's really hard to live in this house for my kids. Me and my girls share a room and my son has his own room. But I would like to have their caretaker move in but it's just not possible. She helps me a lot if I didn't have her I don't know what I would do!

  22. I forgot to put my address down for home makeover,I guess I'm just a little nervous that I I have a second chance at possibly being picked. I have been sick for a long time at family prepare themselves for my passing but I kept telling myself I couldn't do this to my children and through faintly cracked eyes I saw my father crying and saying that he could not believe he was doing this again (burying another child) . This was 2004 and in 1986 my older brother was murdered, but by the grace of god I woke up started getting healthy when I got the another diagnosis in 2006 And my parents were sick and we became even closer as a family and we never missed a Sunday dinner . My dad & my brother 3rd oldest we're preachers and they made Sundays special . I would call everyone and tell them what to bring and everybody was welcome my parents never turned anyone away and I guess that's were I get that from but in April 2010 my brother was sick in bed for several days with a sinus infection when they finally took him took h to the hospital his doctor said it was a sinus infection and I was talking to him on the phone when everything happened he screamed in pain then silence but I could here someone had come into his room next thing we knew they were moving him to a trauma hospital were we found out it was a stroke irreversible so we stayed by his side until the end . And four month later we had to bury my father , we haven't had a family dinner since a family member helping my mom and now her house is gone and they put her in a adult assisted living facility and I am trying to bring her home with me but she cannot climb stairs either I hope you choose my wacky but loving family happy holiday's ABC . Love the RIckert & Mason ……

  24. This is for my Mother and Father…All my life my family has made it clear that their life goal was to be of service to others. And that they have… my father had polio as a child and moved to Portland Oregon durning vietnam to fulfill his civil service at a hospital, he met my mother who also worked at a hospital and they got married and decided that together they wanted to help others. They moved to a retreat center in oregon where my father got a job as a maintenence and grounds keeper, he has recently reitred after 35 years, he helped all sorts of people, touched so many peoples lifes, not only through the retreat, he once sold a family of 5 his car for 1$ because he knew they needed one, hed put roofs on peoples homes not even thinking of asking for money, my mother is just the same, Her dream was to have a small bakery which she had to give up becuase of her health problems, she has severe rhumetoid arthritis, she was born at 2 lbs and is quite a miricle for being here, her and her brother were adopeted and life was not easy for either of them. Battling many health problems and severe chonic pain, I never heard my mother complain, and she has helped so many people in our community, she helped start a co-op food program in our town which distributes food to the elderly and lower income families, it also gives the locals a place to gather and drink coffee and help one another, they have a clothes drive and provided holiday baskets for those who would otherwise be alone, I could go on for hours about how much my parents have done for the community and helped hundreds of folks without ever expecting anything in return, I watch this show all the time and am touched to tears of how it changes peoples lives and gives to those who give so much, My mom really wants to update the kitchen at the co-op where she works… right now they work out of an old basement in the community grange hall and it would be great for them to have a nice kitchen to help feed the folks who go there the program is in Corbett oregon it is called Helping Hands… you can look it up online, Jeri is my mother. They recently had to move into a small rental in corbett after my father retired, its very small and cold and over 100 years old… If there was some way I could nominate them to have the house updated… it is for sale,, I dont know if thats something they could throw in there, its always been my mothers dream to have her own home… its really nothing fancy but they deserve it soooo much… they give every inch of their energy to others and Id love to see it come back for them, the community of corbett would be all over this, youd probably have 200 volunteers…. they really are a huge part of the town of Corbett…. If you want pictures or a video I can figure that out… thanks

  25. I am writing for a dear family who has been asked to endure more than anyone should have to go through. My god parents (also distant cousins) are the most selfless, kind, thoughtful couple you could have the opportunity to know. They have been married 25+ years and in their first years of marriage they tried to have children but unfortunately after 4 miscarriages they decided to try foster care and now have adopted 4 children all with disabilities who are 13 (boy with ADHD), 12 (girl with mild mental retardation), 12 (boy with autism), and 8 (girl with ADHD). Almost 2 years ago the mom (Mary Ellen) had a heart attack and was transported from their home in Maine to a hospital in Boston, MA. Over the past 2 years, Mary Ellen has been in and out of the hospital in Boston as well as here in Maine while awaiting a heart transplant. The dad (Bruce) has had the difficult job of stepping up and being both mom and dad to 4 very active, special children. About 2 months ago, Mary Ellen finally hit the top of the transplant list and received her new heart. Mary Ellen has been on dialysis and multiple other machines while in the ICU recuperating. She has had many complications but lots of prayers being said for her and the family have been the thing that keeps her going. In order to allow Bruce to continue working to support his family, I have been watching the children 5 days a week. Bruce has taken the kids to Boston a few times to visit their mom but it's been a tough road for the kids not having her home. The other day one of the girls told me her only wish is to have her own room. They live in a 3 bedroom house where the boys share a room and the girls share a room. It's close quarters and not much privacy especially for the older kids as pre-teens and teens. The family does not know I am writing and asking for a miracle but my wish is for each kid to have their own room and for a nice place with easy access for Mary Ellen to come home to and finish recuperating with her babies.

  28. Hello, my name is Alexia and I am writing to you in hopes of you helping my family. In February of last year my father was diagnose with aggressive stage 4 prostate cancer resulting in my father losing his job of being a nurse for over 30+ years. Foreclosure inevitable, we packed up all of our belongings and rented a storage until we could figure out what to do. Luckily, a friend of my mother had a small home we are currently renting. But, in July of this year, someone had broken into and stole all of our possessions out of our storage unit, memories and years of the hard work my parents did, all gone. My father's cancer is getting progressively worse, so much so he is in constant pain and can't preform simple tasks as reach for the cups on the top shelf, or opening a bag of sweets. I want my father and mother to be comfortable and enjoyed their time together without the worries of bills and limited living space. I hope that I have conveyed my emotions through this letter enough for it to reach your hearts. Thank you for your time in reading this.

  29. I am writing as a representative of my church. We are located in Indianapolis, IN and have our building and land on the northeast side. Back in 1995, we undertook a major remodel of our building. In that process, we detached the old parsonage and moved it onto our back property. We now use this space for our youth group and other groups who need a place to stay. The problem is that this house was originally built back in the 50s or so and hasn't had many updates at all. There is a mold smell when you enter the house, the ceiling is peeling, the kitchen has the original cabinets and appliances that don't work. The small bathrooms have, in most cases, the original fixtures and uneven floors. The electrical and plumbing should all be redone. Our church is very service-oriented and we send money to local and international outreach very frequently. We have sent missionaries and work groups as far away as Haiti and Venezuela, and our youth have worked in New Mexico and New Orleans. We are at the center of our denomination both geographically and leadership-wise, but we can't provide a good location for our youth or other service groups. We really need help renovating our retreat house so we can truly be a service to our neighborhood, our city, and our friends around the world.

  30. Hello my name is Jon,
I am writing on behalf of a young woman, I call my sister, but she does not have any biological connection with me. I met this young woman when she was 16 yrs. old when I had no family, and minimal friendships. She befriended me and brought me home to her family. From that day on I became a part of her family. Since that day I have had the privilege to watch her grow into the fine woman she is today, and have become an uncle to her children. I am 62 yrs. old, and four years ago I had a stroke. To make a long story short, I ended up having to retire and was placed in a nursing home. A year after my stroke I was telling my sister how the nursing home placed me in a room with no phone, no TV, no access to the outside world, and yet took all of my retirement funds leaving me with nothing. She immediately sprang into action, and when nothing could be changed in the nursing facility, she opened up the doors to her home to me, once again. I have watched this young woman open her arms up, and the doors to her home to anyone in need. She has very little, and yet is willing to share what little she has with those less fortunate. A couple of years ago her daughter came home and told her of a young man that could not finish school because he did not have a place to live. What did she do? Opened up her home to this young man, and encouraged him to finish school. I watched this young woman, every day for a week; bring food to feed the hungry volunteers that came to help in her father’s ministry. After losing her mother, she drove an hour and a half faithfully to care for her sick father, while attending college and being a single mother of four girls. My sister has a biological brother that is in a wheelchair that she drives an hour and ½ to help do his laundry and clean his house ever opportunity that she gets. I could go on and on about this young woman, but now I will tell you of her need. She lives in a house where the roof is leaking, and mold has formed in the ceilings. She has three beautiful girls inside and out still living at home, and I am concerned for their health. I find it a shame that such good people should have to live like this. These girls are good girls and are very smart honor students. My sister’s oldest daughter graduated with honors last year, and I know it is impart because my sister homeschooled her children and gave them all she had to give. Yet, they live in a rundown homestead that has holes in the floor and in the roof. The home looks cute because my sister and her daughter’s try and patch the holes in the floors with rugs, but there is not much that can be done with the leaking roof as my sister works hard just to make ends meet. She has a job taking care of the mentally challenged to pay for necessities. She cares for me as I cannot cook or clean very well, and she takes care of her three daughters still living at home. My sister helps anyone who asks for her help, and yet cries at night when she thinks no one can see because she is concerned for her daughter’s health, in her current living situation. When she was asked why she tries to help other’s even though she lacks, she simply replied, “I guess it’s because I’m selfish. It makes me feel better when I can make someone else feel better.”
I am entering this story hoping to appeal to your hearts to consider my sister for a candidate for your help. My sister loves to help others so if you help her, your help through her will continue on to bless others as well.
    Thank-you for your consideration, sincerely,
    Jon Stokes

  32. Hi my name is Christine. I live with my dad and my little brother and sister. I know this is a long shot considering there are so many people in need. People who really deserve a new home.. But I really feel my family does as well. We've been trough a lot in the past couple years since my mom left us and we lost our home. We moved into an old one bedroom trailer on my dad's property. It has mold, holes in the ceiling and no front door.. But we managed to call it home. But things started getting harder since my dad was in a car accident and just recently had to go trough spinal surgery last month. He was already getting less hours because of the pain he had to endure but now all he gets are disability checks. We're not looking for anything fancy at all! Just something safe and reliable to make it trough some Texas weather. I'm still not sure how all of this works but I do know if anyone can help us we would be extremely grateful to you. My dad is too nice to ever ask anyone for help but he's always been there for us and helped us.. So now even if this is a shot in the dark .. I really want to find someway to help him. Thank you for taking the time to read this, I hope you can visit or consider my family.

  33. Hello I'm Hailley Blush. I'm 20 years old and from Brooklyn NY and I take care of my father full time. One year ago my mother passed away suddenly and tragically. My father had a stroke and I had to drop out of high school to take on full responsibility for him. Recently I lost my food stamps so now we're low on food. I'm trying to get a job but that's kinda hard when most jobs want someone who have a high school diploma or Ged. I can't even go back because I have no one to take care of my father. Right now my house that lived in all my life is falling apart. Falling ceiling. Falling bathroom floor. Broken pipes no hot water. Im trying to stay as strong as possible for my father because he needs me the most right now. In a few hours he will be undergoing a big surgery for his legs in Beth Israel hospital at 8 am this morning. Once he recovers I will need to reteach him how to walk. I'm taking on alot for my age. I want to go to school and became a doctor and save lives. I wish I could of saved my mother but right now I have to put my Dreams on hold for my dad.

  34. My name is Ayesha. I’m 13. I live with my dad, mom, sister and my grandmother. 3/4 of them have asthma, 4/5 if you count me. I don't want a new house, but I need one. My dad hooks up to his dialysis machine every night and we have dialysis boxes piling up in the hallway, we’ve even got boxes lined up against the walls of my grandmother's room. My brother moved out recently, and when I moved into his room I still didn’t have enough space. It’s getting worse day by day too. Every day I help my dad hook up to his machine. And I also did just now. After that, I got him water and his computer from down stairs. While I was downstairs I started to think, 'what will happen when I go to college, or I move out? What if he can’t do it himself? Who’s going to help him, what’s going to happen?’ I started crying just thinking about it. My homework is started to get in the way too. I started on my homework right after I got to school. Its 8:49 in the night and I still have a project, math homework, and a science worksheet due tomorrow that isn’t done yet. And it’s not just my dad I’m worried about. It’s my grandmother too. Almost everyone in my family has asthma, but my grandmother’s is in severe condition. About two weeks ago my grandma carried a sewing machine from our house to my sister’s car, because they needed to go to Kmart and return it. A few minutes after they left they came back and my sister was screaming. My grandmother was having an asthma attack in the backseat of my sister’s car, just because of the little walk with the sewing machine. We need help but we don’t have the money. We’ve had a hole in our downstairs bathroom ceiling for about a year and a half now. We had to cut it open from a leaking pipe in the upstairs bathroom, and after the pipe was fixed we just haven’t enough money to fix it. With my brothers college loan needing to be paid, to my dad’s constant empty wallet, to my brothers speech trophies in my closet with no room left in the house, I just can’t take it anymore. I’m a Christian, but I can’t believe he would do this to me. I don’t believe I him anymore, and you’re the only hope I have left. My speech and debate class have a saying. “One voice can change a room. And if it can change a room then it can change a city. And if one voice can change a city then it can change a state. And if one voice can change a state then it can change a nation. Your voice can change a nation. (Jefferson Middle School’s Speech and Debate Team Motto)” well, I may not be able to change a nation but I may be able to change my family. Please help us. I’m begging. There’s nothing else I can say but that right now. So please help us or my family is going to go insane.

  35. To whom it may concern,

My name is Jonna. I'm 19 years old and I'm writing for my family –my sister, brother-in-law, fiance, and 16 month old nephew. No, I don't have a sob story. I'm an average hard working individual. We (my family and I) fall into that class of "we make too much for financial aid, but barely enough to make ends meet". Thank God that we do though.
I've basically lived in the boondocks of Boonville, IN for my entire life. I live in a 20+ year old single wide trailer. And it has definitely had it's fair share of wear and tear. To be honest, it was very nice when my parents were still married. My mom was a stay-at-home mom while my dad worked. But of course, that was over 10 years ago. When my parents divorced the house went downhill. My mom was trying to pay bills with $140.00 paychecks (I still have no idea how she did it). Therefore my brilliant sister quit highschool just to help pay bills at 17. My childhood has always been rough and it has shown me to appreciate everything and never take anything for granted. Somehow though we made it this far, the house slowly deteriorating and us always being too broke to fix anything. And Reed, my precious nephew-the glue that holds us together, is the only one to see the good in it all. It's home to him, he loves it. And that makes me cry. I never once lived in a real house. And because of it I'm known as white trash or trailer trash just because of my home. Friends have disowned me. As well as exes- but who really wants to be with someone like that. Reed doesn't need to be labeled as I was. All I'm asking for is help. Just please help us. I've considered all my options and keep coming back to square one. I know this will most likely not work, there's other people who need it more than I do. But I believe in God, and where there's a will there's a way. This is my last effort to make more than half of my family's troubles disappear.
I appreciate your time and have a blessed day.
    Thanks, Jonna

  36. I'm not sure if my parents will qualify or not but here goes. My parents own a very small auto sales lot we sell nothing but pick-up trucks. Business is not that good for us, but we keep going. My parents are very proud people and don't ask for help from anyone. My parents owned there own home and it was a beautiful home for 36 years and sold it to moon properties in hopes of building a new home on the property they now live on but that never happened because the money they got for the other house has supported the business. They currently live in a very small house that was on the property where they are now. My dad is a super super man and my mom is an awesomely proud lady. my dads motto is leave people laughing regardless if it's with him or at him because that may be the only smile that person gets that day. My parents are always doing and giving to others regardless of how broke they are. There was this homeless family that camped out behind our business several years ago. My dad created work for the one man that would work so that they could eat. There is a motel next to our lot and my dad rented these people a room for Christmas and several other times during the winter so they could be warm. In 1991 my dad suffered a heart attack that caused him to have a 7 tube bypass then 2 years later he was diagnosed with bladder cancer and has peed in a bag for 20 years. In February my dad had an emergency surgery to implant a pacemaker, when they put in the pacemaker all of his plumbing quit. They had to go into his back and drill a hole into each kidney and insert a hose so he could urinate. They sent him to Atlanta to Emery university where they admitted him for 2 weeks because he would not have made it home. They had to put in a potacath and concocted vitamins and stuff to build his system up to endure surgery. they had to do reconstructive surgery on him which took 8 hours his stomach is put together with pig skin. My parents work 7 days a week no matter what. 2 years ago before he got the pacemaker they bought a house that had to be moved it took them 2 years to get this house moved it is 40 foot by 80 foot. My mom is 72 years old and my dad turns 72 in February. Today they tried to sit the house on it's foundation and had problems because the movers and the people he had lay the roof down did not put the roof back up correctly and it is causing my dad to get upset to the piont where I am scared for his health. My mom's furniture and pictures of the family all of her craft stuff(she loves to make quilt and plays with polymer clay making jewelry) has been packed in a uhaul truck for atleast 9-10 years. I'm not sure my folks will leave for seven days But I sure am begging for help for them they give and give and give and have never asked for anything in return they deserve something good to happen to them so they can actually enjoy the last years of their life. PLEASE can you help.

  37. I would like to ask something for myself. I know it sounds selfish but the people I help I can guarantee won't. I help a lot of my co-workers with auto repairs, no charge. I do this because I know a lot of people don't have the extra money to go to a repair shop. The thing is, I do this outside because I don't have a garage to work in. I can't afford to build one because of my debt. I can't get rid of my debt because a lot of my extra money goes toward my two girls and their medical needs. My oldest has severe endometriosis. She has been through two laproscopic surgeries and still gets severe pain do now we go to Boston hoping for new results. My younger daughter has severe anxiety and doesn't go to school a lot of times so we have her seeing medical specialists hoping to relieve her of this. The bottom line is I can't afford to build a garage to do the work that helps others out and I'm 48 years old. The weather, child outdoors and child tools is taking a toll on me. Any chance I would qualify to have a garage built?

  38. Hi. My name is Sierra, Im 15. I have a brother 14 and a 5 month old sister. I am writing for my parents. I want to do something special for them, they really deserves it. It all started almost 2 years ago. My mom and dad both worked, my mom got pregnant so my dad told her to stay home that he will work and all, she was 8 months pregnant and lost my baby brother, it was so hard on all of us, knowing mom was heart broken she tried not to show it around us. I would hear her cry at night. She didn't want to take any medicine to help her cope, she said that she still has us and she don't want to sleep her days away. After we buried my brother my dad ended up losing his job, and mom couldn't work. They tried so hard not to let us know that we were losing every thing, but I figured it out after she lost her car. Well she ended up pregnant again, and there was so much stress every one running there mouths, we were scared she would lose this baby too. But God made sure we had a healthy baby sister. She is almost 6 months old. My dad has been trying his best to find work but no luck, he is trying to do his best, but moms afraid we our going to lose our home. They bought it almost 4 years ago, but with every thing our family has been through it took a toll. My parents are the most loving most helpful and caring people I know, I really don't want our family going through any more problems. My mom says just think positive and pray that all things will work out. I hope so. They deserve a make over. Our house is latterly falling apart. Oh and we found out she is pregnant again. She said God is not done with her yet.

  43. I am writing on behalf of a 76 year old who's home is in horrible condition. This woman has helped so many people bringing them into her home food shelter helping them back on their feet and its time someone helps her. I am currently living in the residence and I dont think me my 5 year old son and two year old daughter will survive this winter. There are no windows just plastic rigged extension cords between walls because of faulty electrical wiring. There is a gaping hole in the dining room floor from the upstairs bathroom pipes leaking. My only other option at this point is to live out of my car and bounce from friend to friend to keep warm… We really need help please.

  45. My wife and I bought a manufactured home about 15 yrs ago. We were young and dumb and didn't realize how much work a manufactured home would need in the future. We now have two young daughters and a house that's falling apart. Unfortunately, I recently suffered a spinal cord injury and can't keep up with the house. The injury is also currently preventing me from working so money is real tight. I would love to see the looks on the faces of our children if we get a makeover.

  46. Our story is a love story! We have endured many hardships that left us just about able to make mortgage payments. Renovations would be impossible to afford. My husband was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 38. He was hospitalized many times, leaving me to care for and be sole income source for our two children who were 2 and 5 at the time. After chemo and many near death experiences, we were denied ss benefits. We went into dept to pay for expenses. I just about had a nervous breakdown and downward spiraled into alcohol addiction because of post traumatic stress disorder after he'd been cleared of Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. My children suffered greatly as a result of this. I was nearly killed in an accident after colliding into a propane tank. I rehabbed, got it back together and now about 10 years later, my husband lost his job after 28 yrs of service.
Coincidentally, he too fell into depression turning to alcohol abuse and also rehabbed. Our love has kept us together, in good times and bad, sickness and health. i can go into some serious detail and tell you stories that bring us all to tears. All together we are recovering. But we need a makeover!

  47. Hi my name is Michelle Todaro I live in a small town in New York, Long Island – Deer Park. My family and I have been struggling for the past few years. I went to college at Pace University majoring in Biology. When I came home from school because I can no longer afford it since it was such an exensive school- my father's business went down. My father was in the construction business doing brick work with driveways, sidewalks, etc. My mother cleans houses for a living and doesnt speak too much english. My mom has been struggling ever since because it's impossible for my dad to get a job. She is nonstop all day long going from one house to another to work just to try and get bills paid. I had to stop going to school to work day and long nights to help my family through this struggle. I am only 23 years old and I cry everyday and night hoping a wishing some kind of miricle can come help me and my family. I lived in a beautiful home in the same town and we had to move into a really small house old house that can really use some help. It would be such a blessing for a home renovation and it would change our lives. This would just take one more stress off my parents shoulders and mine as well so I can finally go back to school and finish my career. Please conisder my family and I, it would absolutely mean the world to us. Thank you !

  54. Hi, I'm Raymond proctor, I live in Clinton Maryland, with my wife and 6 beautiful kids. This past year has been a constant battle, 1st with the birth of our then conjoined twins Tyler and Tyson. Who spent almost half their 1st year of existence in the hospital. One fighting to pull thru, while the other had no choice but to tag along. While the twins were in the hospital, after leaving from seeing theM on our way home we (my other 4 kids, & wife) we were rear ended by a reckless driver that left me with a herniated lower disc in my back and my wife with a concussion which later we discover that she has the early stages of MS, fortunately the kids were okay. since the accident it has been real tough challenge for me and my wife to constantly keep up with the kids we struggle day in and day out to make sure they have the things thEy need to be ahead in life, after me and their mother have passed on. unfortunately we just have had no time to put in any work to our house. with a program like Extreme Home makeovers I really believe that our house will become more structured a lot more comfortable and just overall satisfied. there is a mini story to our insanity if you would like to look into it you can just Google Tyler and Tyson proctor, hope to hear back.

  55. I am writing to nominate my best friend Michele Hucks.
Michele is such an awesome women of God! She serves as a mother of 6 and a friend and sister to so many people. Michele recently opened her home to the community for fellowship. We hold a bible study every thursday that is growing every week. Her home is small and can barely house her kids let alone the people who want to hear the Word of God. With all this going on in addition to the many women she ministers to she is dealing with her own trial gracefully….this is a piece of her story
Saniyah Analise Hucks was born on February 13, 2012. During my pregnancy I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. My daughter was born with a high level of bilirubin (jaundice). It was at its all-time high of 25.9. I was told by one of the nursing that this was the highest level they have seen in over 15 years. I couldn’t understand why my 1 day old baby would randomly scream and cry as if someone was hurting her. The doctors ran a blood test and found that her bilirubin was very high and there were electric shots going to her brain which is what caused her screaming and crying. They said that my blood cells read her blood cells as a virus and began to attack them. My baby was rushed to another hospital where she underwent a blood transfusion and a platelet transfusion. Normally a child with this level of bilirubin would suffer with mental development, blindness, hearing loss, and even autism. She stayed in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) or about 2 weeks or so before she was released. I didn’t know exactly how all of this tied together and even though the doctors explained it I was never really listening. All I could think about was seeing my baby whole. I’m glad to say that my now 2 ½ year old is whole. She has no complications with her hearing, seeing, walking or developmental issues. She maybe the smartest 2 ½ year old you could ever meet.
Arianna Rose Hucks was born on June 7, 2014. I did not have gestational diabetes with this pregnancy and she too was full term. She was born with the following birth defects; sacral dimple on her back and Coloboma on both her eyes. She too had a high level of bilirubin but thank God they found it early and started her on her treatment before it got to serious. Arianna failed her hearing test at the hospital it was a red flag for the doctor to check on her a little closely. They ran a few blood test and found that my daughter has Microcephaly with Pontine and Cerebellar Hypoplasia (M.I.C.P.C.H) due to a deletion of one of her two CASK gene. She has a genetic abnormality and early brain malformation. She is being seen every 2 weeks for 45 minutes by early intervention for the next 3 years. She finally past her third hearing test and is being seen every 4 months for the next year for her vision. She is not blind but at this time all she can see is light.
Through the hardships of the birth of her two precious little girls she still managed to change the lives of many people including me. Michele is always putting her needs aside for others and its because of her welcoming arms we are able to gather. It would be a great blessing for her to have a home that is spacious and equipped for her family and her growing home ministry. Please consider Michele Hucks!

  57. I am writing about a family in my home town who was hit hard with tragedy this year. Their mother passed away this past summer from an aggressive form of colon cancer. Because of religious beliefs, they were unable to get her the proper treatment in fast enough time. Now a few months without their mom, this family of 7 came across more sorrow. On November 10th, their 2 and a half story home that was built in 1824 was burnt to the ground due to a faulty flu in their wood stove. All of these kids were homeschooled by their mother and she had done everything possible for those kids. Now not only have they lost her, but they lost their home, their possesions and even all of their schoolwork and lessons. It has been heart break for this family, and I really hope you would consider them for a home make over. They currently live in a hotel and are in need of absolutely everything. Please consider this family, they need it and deserve it after what theyve been through.

  59. Hi my name is Patricia Moore, and my family has struggled for ever..when I was 4 years old we moved to Dallas Tx from Houston and we struggled a lot..we were living in Motels and out of cars and it was not healthy. My mom was trying her hardest to bring money in and she couldn't do it by herself. She never had any good paying jobs to support me and my 2 sisters. She would have a lot of mental break downs because she knew that our living situation was unhealthy for both her and her kids. That's when she decided to make a BIG decision…she split us up. In 2012 we moved back to Houston, and me and my little sister moved in with my Grandma, while her and my big sister stayed with friends, family members etc. Well, December 2013 my little sister who is only 16 was kicked out of my Grandmothers house and she had to go and stay with my mom. My mom barely has enough money to support her self let alone 3 people. I'm the only one of my family who is staying with my Grandmother and it's hell. I never know if I'm going to get kicked out or what I'm doing wrong. She just snaps some days and it's horrible. My mom and my two sisters are now living in an Hotel room again. They all have a job at a resturant that pays little to any money. My mom use to go out of her way to get money, from cleaning peoples houses on her own trying to start her own business, then going back into the resturant business. My little sister is 16 years old and she's suppose to be a sophmore in High School, she doesn't attend any school because she's working with my mom and my oldest sister to support our family. My mom is the STRONGEST person I know! She has never given up on me nor my sisters. It kills me that I cannot be with them because of their living conditions. I just want my family to have a home that we can call our own. I've become desperate to get help for my mom and it seems as if no one ever has it. I want my mom to be happy and I want to see her have a REAL smile on her face. So please…if you can do ANYTHING. It would make me the happiest girl on Earth. My mom has lost both my Grandma and my Grandpa, and my dad is in Prison for 87 years. She has sisters but they've turned their back on her. All my mom has is us..and we can't help her. And that kills me and my sisters. So please, please help us.

  60. I'm writing to you not for your charity but for your help. My mother and her fiance lost their house a few years back from a house fire, Only a little portion of the house was saved.my mother fiance is retired military, he served for the army for 20 years and my mother is partially disabled. She can still get around and everything its just her back is all messed up. behind their house they have a small camper that they stay in all the way up until their water freezes than they have to go stay with my grandmother. I hate seeing my mother not have a home. If I had the money I would so help her but unfortunately I don't. My mom helps anyone out if she can and her and I don't always get along but if in need something she finds away to help. Its time for someone to help her out. I tried starting a gofund me page but it didn't succeed. Please home makeover help my mother and her fiance.

  61. I am hoping you can help my oldest sister. She works very hard helping other as an EMT she never would ask for help so I am asking for her. She does everything to keep her kids and family taken care of but she works so much that its hard for her to keep everything going. Her 8 year old boy has scared lungs witch makes it hard for him to breath he stopped breathing at school yesterday and he wasn't responding. We are so scared that it will happen again and we may not get him back I know his hard breathing has a lot to do with there house there staying in it has black mold and roaches in almost every room. The house is falling apart and her two youngest stay sick all the time because of it. So I am asking for them please help them if you can. 62. Hi I am Weniesse Trichardt am 20 years of age and I have being praying to God to send me and my family help for a home! My two brothers and I with our parents has been living in my grandparents back yard since I could remember. We have never lived in a real home before. The wendy we live in has been divided in to four rooms. A small kitchen, even smaller lounge if you can call it that and two bedrooms, one which I share with my two brothers. We have no bathroom..we bath in a small basin in our room..none of us has our own privacy when we bath cause anyone just walks in and see how u bath..My parents work so hard two give us what we need..but they don't have enough to buy us a proper home..I know you have to have your own home in order to have a make over. Sadly we don't. My youngest brother is hipper active and my parents struggles a lot with him. But thanks to God my mother has patients with him. I pray that you will find it in your heart to choose my family..We really do need a fresh start..God bless your team. And the work he sends you to do in the World!

  63. Hello, I am writing on behalf of myself and Rhonda Todd do to the condition that my house is falling apart and is need many repairs that my husband and myself can afford, over the past to years the company I work for closedown, I had a tumor removed, we gotten behind in everything, it's depressing to know that you need things done but have no way to do them.

  64. My name is Beth Kennedy. I am requesting a new home for my grandmother and mother. They have no idea i am doing this but if anyone deserves it, it is these two beautiful, Godly, independent, strong, loveable women. You see, about 9 years ago my grandpa suddenly passed away from a massive heart attack at the age of 59. This shook my mom and my grandmas lives pretty hard. Since that year it seems like things have continued to spiral downhill. My grandmas mother became ill so my grandma end up losing her job to spend some time in texas caring for my elderly great grandmother which only ended up taking a toll on her health and emotional stability. My mother went through a divorce as her emotions began to spiral out of control and the more she needed to be there for my grandma, she just decided to move in with my grandma to make things easier on the both of them. You see, my mom had empty nest, all 4 of her kids, including myself, had grown and gone, on top of losing my grandpa and now her husband, she was lost for a little while. My mom and I decided to uproot my great grandmother from the home she had always known to bring her here to McAlester OK to my grandmas home so that we could help care for my great grandma and nurse my grandma back to health and happiness. During this time my great grandmother became total care meaning she could no longer lift herself from chair to bed to bathroom etc. she was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and placed on hospice. this became my grandmas full time job, caring for my great grandmother 24-7. my mother worked a full time job but still managed to get off work and help whenever she could as well as periodic help from myself and other family members when we could give both of them a break. My great grandmother passed away in 2011. Again shattering my grandma and moms lives. Last December when it seemed things may have been getting a little easier, my mom had since remarried and moved out of my grandmas home, my mother end up getting foster/kinship of my 6month old nephew. You see when parents get into legal trouble and cant seem to get their lives together, the state steps in and removes the child from the home. This shook my mothers world put of focus again. But being the mother she is, being the person she is, she jumped through hoops to make this work! End up going through another divorce because of the time and stress having a new baby had on a new marriage, she end up movingback in wih my grandma, allowing my grandma the help she needed because she had injured her back during the years of caring for my great grandmother and has recently had back surgery and providing some help with my moms new 6 month old grandson she is raising. Again, after about a year and things finally starting to settle and become routine and stable again, my brother and his wife have another baby who yet again is taken away and put into my mothers care because they still havent gotten on the right path. Now my mom and grandma live in my grandmas old home which she has owned for as long as i can remember, which is only 3 bedrooms and one bath raising 2 babies without any complaints, a newborn babygirl and a now 1 1/2 year old little boy. They are cramped for space and tight on money but you would never know it because hey are not the kind of womeb who ask for help or expect a handout. They give their everything to God knowing thisbis in his hands. They have faith and i couldnt love either of these women more! Just thought maybe i could help make their lives a little easier during these next 18 years raising their grandkids. Thank you for taking he time to hear my story. God Bless all you do.

  65. Good Afternoon,

My name is Shavona and I recently nominated my grandparents to receive a free roof. They were selected as finalist and have won. I am now looking for donations to help their home improvement. If there is anything you can do to help. My grandparents are so special to our family! They have been in their home since 1958. They have been married for 61 years and have raised all of us and our parents in this home. My grandfather started to repair their home but health and strength got in the way and it has been a struggle trying to put money aside and also take care of the household utilities. All holidays, birthdays, celebrations and memories are shared here in this home. This is where my heart, our hearts are. Please help.

If there is anything you can do to help it will be greatly appreciated. You can either contact me directly OR EMAIL

  66. I am writing on behalf of my daughter who has a heart as big as gold. She has raised many children from birth for various reasons. She birthed none of the children. The first child was a crack baby she brought home from the hospital 22 years ago. The second is 13 and is having to be home schooled. The third was 2 when she got him and is now 10. His parents were homeless and asked her to take him. The parents have little or no contact with these children nor does she receive any support from them. She is also raising foster children she's had six of them. She loves children and goes to bat for them to ensure they get proper schooling or whatever they need to help them succeed in life. She's a great and loving mother. She and her husband love children. Their home is in bad need of repair which they do not have the funds for. They could also use more room. There is always at least 8,9 or more children being raised or kept in that home at any given time one of which is autistic. They're such good people that I would love it if you could surprise them and do an extreme makeover on their 4 bedroom home as I cannot afford to do that for them.

  67. My name is Hannah White, in April of 2012 my mother had her first stroke. She has had a total of four strokes,in the past 3 years. Which has left her brain 75% covered in strokes.Which has resulted in her whole left side being paralyzed, and has effected her vision in an awful way there are days when she can not see anything. It has made a huge effect on her thinking. We are all very blessed that she is even still alive and hopefully on the right track with finding out with what could be causing them. With that being said, we are under filled with doctor bills, I am currently a freshmen in college which makes it even more expensive. With all the doctors bills and me starting college. We have not had the money to accompany the handy cap facilities that is needed for her. For the home we are living in now is not handy caped at all. If you have any suggestions or help we would appreciate it more than words would describe. May God bless you all in everything you do!!!

  70. Hi, my name is roselea and i'm 24 years of age.
I can see there is alot of people in great need. But i'm writting to you about my dad he is 55 years of age, he has lived in this house for 22 years and it's legit falling down he lives there alone no running water or pluming. His health hasn't been bad lately, and my only fear is that this house could give at anytime. With his bad health it makes it hard for him to work, he makes a 500$ a month and there is no way any one could live on this amount. I grew up in single parent home with just my dad, and growing up with a parent in the army and only seeing him so much and always staying at babysitters. After 25 or more years in the army. My dad is my rock, my everything. There is nothing in this world I would love more for him then to have a place he can live in and have no worries. So please i'm asking from the bottom of my heart with everything I have if you could just give my dad a house he can call home. I would be forever thankful. Thanks so much.

  71. This July our family welcomed our miracle baby into our arms. Her name is Naomi and she was born with multiple rare health conditions, the most significant being that she has only half of her heart. She has been our tiny fighter overcoming open heart surgery at just five days old and major bowl surgery at twenty three days old. She lacks the ability to fight off many common types of bacteria and has at least two more open heart surgies ahead. I'm writing to ask for help with our home for a couple reasons. One, our current home is a mere 876 square feet. Its originally a two bedroom, one bath home of which we've tried to adapt to our family of five…..its just not working. With all of the health complications that our daughter had, its impossible for me to work thereby giving our family only one income. And with the time off taken by my husband for the many hospital visits and procedures for our daughter, our one income is often less then normal. The second reason for my writing is because our life is so central to caring for our infant daughter, we lack any time to be able to attempt improving our current little home. We are a family of five living in a very small home and sharing the entire space all the time. Because of this, there's never any space that's quiet or clean and the home feels stressful and without solace. I'm sure you get thousands of people asking for the chance to receive the gift of a new home but if I could sum up in four words why I have reached out to you, its because my family needs this. Please consider us for the opportunity of having a home where we can focas on our time together, enjoying each member and cherishing our perhaps limited time with our daughter.

  72. I love this show and love how much it has helped those in need. My family is in desperate need of help with our home for more reasons than I can count. I'll be applying for sure and crossing my fingers, toes, and praying away that maybe, just maybe, we have a chance. Either way, I'm looking forward to the new season.

  73. Hello. I have a very close friend who was left his grandmothers house after her death. He has lived with her basically all his life. He has always been so secretive about his home until recently. It's in shambles and he doesn't know how to bring it back to life. The roof is leaking, there is mildew everywhere.. He did small changes while his grandmother was sick to accomidate her which are terrible. He has a son and daughter and they cannot come over to hang out with their dad because of the state of this house. He is a hardworking man and he gives so willingly to help others and I just thought the least I could do is try and help him get a home makeover. I know this isn't your typical sob story and I won't try and make-up one. He is a good guy in need of a new start and a new home.

  74. Wow, this is a hard letter to write. There are so many people out there that need you wonderful people.
I’m a young 70 year old, will be 71 in February 2015 and would like to retire in the near future but can't see that happening. I was married for 23 years and now divorced 25years. I have two adult sons. One of which, Tim, is home for 5 years now, after 7 years in the US Cavalry. Needless to say he went in healthy patriotic attitude and ready to serve his country; to make a difference, but like so many young men, came home a totally different person. His disabilities are not visible but he has his own collection of problems to deal with. He wants to be whole again and has many hopes and dreams that seem to keep eluding him.
The seven years he was in Iraq and Afghanistan, he sent home money to help with my house payments.
He wanted me, his mother, to live in a good neighborhood, to be closer to work and in a safer environment. I moved into Humble Texas in 2006. Tim still remembers the days we lived in a house falling down around us, with baby possums and other critters falling out of the attic.
We tried fixing up a house in the country for six years before I moved into our present home, the one I’m in now. Between Allison in 2001, hurricane Rita in 2006, Ike in 2008 and the thief’s that lived in the area, it was like spitting in the ocean. The one to one-and-ahalf hour drives into the city for work, just got to be too much. There was never enough money or help.
Between the home owners association and all the other repairs we need on our current home, there is no way we can handle it all. I had our home refinanced hoping to save enough money to paint the upper story of our home and get the home owners association off our back, but what they do not know is that we need to replace a lot of rotten wood before we can paint. Cosmetics seem to be all that concerns them at the moment.
The living conditions are a larger concern for us. We have low water pressure, rusty pipes and two bathrooms in need of repair. Our kitchen is a mess, we need a new stove. Our hot water heater needs to be replaced. The carpet need to go. We are going to need a new roof any time now. There are soft spot under the singles too.
There are other things we could do that would make life easier but we can live with them. If you should consider our home, we would be most grateful but if someone else is the lucky winner, we will be joyful for them as well.
    Thank you for considering us,
    Elaine Reed
