  1. Hi my name is Chasity Robertson and my moms house is in unlivable conditions and she has been removed from her home. My mother can not walk due to MS/nuropathy and I am currently taking care of her, I am a single mom of 4 and we are jumping around with rental houses. My moms house is paid off and she wants to return home where she feels safe and secure. Her husband (my dad) passed away 13 years ago and she been living alone and she can no longer live alone. I myself with my kids would love to return back to the house that I was raised in and finish raising my children but I am not sure how to come up with the money for renovations. The house is just sitting there and I am struggling trying to care for everyone and pay rent on a house that is not even mine. I need to take care of my mother for the rest of her life and I also want that security that we will always have a home. It is a four bedroom 3 bathroom house with potential. Please help me to get this house back in order so that we Myself, my mother and kids can go home. Clayton County Senior Services of Georgia was the one who did a emergency removal on all of us back in April of 2014, my mom had to sneak back into the house and live with no AC no Heat no stove, falling down walls and holes in the floor while I was getting back up on my feet which lead my kids and I to have to go into a program. We are all reunited again living in a rental home for $950 a month which is a struggle when I'm only making $9.18 an hour working at The Salvation Army homeless shelter. Thank you for your consideration in helping us, I hope soon that we can all go back home.

    Blessings

  2. I got a divorce after being married for 34 years lived on my own for the first time while I live on my own I was diagnosed with breast cancer of which I recovered from and now I am cured. I bought a mobile home with the 20,000 my ex husband paid me for my interest of our home. My home is quite old and everything is falling apart and I can't keep up with the things that need to be fixed. I have no choice but to live here

  3. Hello Extreme makeover crew!

Im nomiting my family for this amazing opportunity. Here is why.. In 2011 my oldest son who is now 8, he was 3 at the time of his accident. Jumped of the couch and caused him to suffer a traumatic brain injury and an internal epidural hematoma. As a result he lost all his motor skills and is completly dependable on my husband and Myself. We moved in to our home that just a few months before our son's accident. It's almost been 5 years. In that time Adryan has grown and its getting hatder and harder to manuever him and his equipment. For one our bathrooms are so small we literaly can't have 2 people in there at once to help bathe him. His wheelchair isn't able to be inside because of the small area. He has outgrown this home. Please help us make our home bigger so that my son can enjoy dinners, bathe time and also be able to enjoy time around the house with his younger siblings who are 6 & 1 1/2. In appropriate equipment. My son has come a long ways. He underwent many brain and other surgeries. He pulled through when many didn't think he would. He truly is a miracle. Now please bless us with another miracle.

  4. My name is Tim. As I was getting ready to submit my request to be selected, I have read many of the submissions, so I will understand if I am not selected, as there is so many in need. I live in Calhoun, Ga. I served in the Army for 11 years and was medically Retired after three tours to Iraq. I raise my two kids on my own and my son is autistic. I finally found a home that I am in an owner finance deal. I am not big on construction and other aspects of home improvement. I took over the payments on a as is deal. I am not anger or anything at the owner, but the AC unit is completely shot, along with all the action ductwork, plumbing is really bad, floors are needing replaced due to water damage and probably due to a fire under the house damaging wood. I have commuted my life to helping others with their issues, but don't have the money to make the repairs desperately needed in my home. With summer heat rising each day all that I can think about is my kids. If you are able to help, I would greatly be appreciative. Like I said, so many are in need on here and hopefully yall are able to help those in need.

  5. I would be blessed beyond compare to have the opportunity for a home makeover… my husband and i have worked so hard for everything we have and along the way for some reason things keep getting worse and that bucket just keeps getting kicked our from under us… we both work two jobs and are now in a trailer house that is very run down and as a woman i do not pride myself in my home and it just makes me want to be in the dark and not look at it .. i used to take so much pride in my home and i am trying to be positive for my girls and i find it so hard to do…. all i want is for it to get fixed up and to be happy again. my husband battled cancer and during that time we had very little income and had to live off our savings until it was gone and of course bills stacked up and got us farther behind so there is no money to fix up….i keep praying for just a small blessing for our home to be in better condition….

  6. Hi. My family would like a chance to audition.
My husband's family moved to Bonanza years ago. The house they bought was from the '50s or before.
The master bathroom is starting to mold.
There are seven people living in the three bedroom house. Two live in a trailer that has no bathroom or kitchen.
The parents, their oldest son and his pregnant wife, their youngest son, and their youngest daughter and her fiance.
The septic line is being overused.

Also, only two people are working, the oldest son and youngest daughter. The dad gets SSI, the only money going into the house. The oldest son just got a job, hasn't started yet. The youngest daughter only pays her bills from before, nothing for the house.

    Please help us.

  7. Hello. I'm just looking to give my family a piece of stability. As a wife and mother of 2 with a mental illness I feel like they are being cheated. I spend a great deal of time battling Bi-Polar Disorder. Hospital stays, medications, or moods often leave me unable to function normally. I do manage to hold down a full time job at the Post Office and my husband is a Teacher.

  8. Wow you are the most wonderful people! I have just watched your Xmas edition, helping the LA free clinic and all the others it is just amazing. Bless you all. I lived in Minnesota in 2003 till 2005 and I never knew what wonderful work you do. When I came back to South Africa I had to leave my car and my whole life behind – all my children's and family photos and household goods. BUT I am home with my family now and yes it's hard to have lost all my "things" but thankfully I was here when my mom passed away in February 2016 and had taken care of her for the last 3 years of her life. It's hard not having a vehicle in SA as we don't have a public transport system but watching your program has given me hope to carry on in the very lonely city where I am now and maybe I'll be able to manage a car before the end of the year in order to get to my daughter who is struggling to manage on her own with a husband who has terminal cancer, and 3 young sons. Thank you once again for your great program. Gayle Ryan

  9. Hi my name is Elizabeth I live in a small village in S.A I live my both my parents and a little sister we live in a shuck of two rooms it is a kitchen and also a room at night a bathroom and a study room please we need your help

  10. Hello my name is Clarice. I'm not sure if anyone will read this or not but I want to tell you guys about my parents. They have dedicated their lives to helping any and everyone. They have a genuine love for people and always go the extra mile. In my life time I have witnessed them house more than 30 people, some even months at a time. They also provide food, clothing, and housing to people in need on a daily basis on top of working 10+ hours on their regular jobs. And in doing so much for everyone else they have neglected their own home which is in need of more work then we as a family can really afford to do. My parents are getting older and and have quite a few serious health conditions. A new home would not only keep them safe but allow them to continue the work in our local community that means so much to them. I pray that this reaches the right person because we need some help. Thank you and may God bless you all!!!!!!

  11. Me and my 3 child share one bed together in a room and my mom just died two years ago can't pay bills and I'm trying to help keep the house keep up but its really hard that is why I need your help

  12. Hello. I'm nominating my son and his wife, Justin and Onlie McGee. They desperately need help. They were a family of four and now a family of 8. Their story began 3 1/2 years ago. They took in Onlie's brothers children after him and his wife weren't able to care for them. Maegan, Brook and Weston. Weston was 10 days. Before they could be approved for adopting they had to add a bedroom and enlarge kitchen and bathroom. There's only one bathroom. They also had to buy a new car. This past March there was another Baby born and due to same situation the baby was taken from parents. They called Justin and Onlie.. Welcome baby McKenzie. Now they are a family of 8. I hope you will consider them. They live in Omaha Texas.

  14. After reading so many reasons why people need help it seems my is somewhat of minor need. This is our story
My husband and I own and operate Timmons Family Vineyards. We previously were cotton farmers for nearly 40 years. We are from generations of farm families. Now at 69 years old we are struggling with old farm debt and trying to keep our vineyard growing and producing enough to capital to pay our debts… My husband and I are very hard workers but his health if failing.. This last year he underwent a triple bypass.. Three months later he endured stints to rework the surgery….three months later he was fitted with a pacemaker. Shortly after that procedure he had galblatter surgery! We do most of the vineyard work ourselves but need to be able to bring in more money to provide our personal living. We have a barn that could be repurposed into a bed and breakfast apartment… Our county has been designated the Grape Capital of Texas.. We are within 40 miles of a major city and believe it would be am success. The barn is sound…. It is just more than we are able to do ourselves…..Thank you so much for your work….I could write much more to explain why I think we would be a good choice, but hopefully this is enough to tell our story.

  15. I'm asking for your help in building my son and daughter in law a home. Currently they are living in a tiny one bedroom apartment with no air conditioning for the hot Minnesota summers. My son who is transgender so I will refer to him as she is a tinkerer. She loves to build things, work with her hands and code. She needs a bigger work space but they cannot afford to rent a garage or a bigger apartment for her to work. The problem is, is that she is unable to have a job due to medical conditions including add, ocd, depression, anxiety, aortic stenosis, PTSD, autism and borderline personality disorder. She is currently in the process of applying for SSI but has yet to get it and has no money to coming in. She needs a bigger workspace because her depression gets worse when she can't build things. At the moment she needs nearly round the clock care because she unable to care for herself properly due to her depression. She is also prone to flash backs from her deployment and needs a calming environment to be in incase of one of these flashbacks. My daughter in law who is also transgender so I will refer to him as he, suffers from many of the same illnesses. He also doesn't make enough money to fully support my son/daughter Hannah's needs. They need a bigger place to live so that they can move forward with their plans of making a family. They also need a bigger place that has a more therapeutic environment. My daughter/son needs a bigger working space so she can move forward with getting a lathe and milling machine to start her own business of renting out machinery to other tinkerers. If you could help them out by building them a small starter home that would be amazing. They have no idea the I am doing this for them so it would be a complete surprise. If you could help them I would be truly greatful.

  23. Hi,
My name is Karissa Oberman and I am 19 years old and I have stage 5 endometriosis and Fibromyalgia. Endometriosis is a disease that starts in your uterus and eats away at tissues and makes cysts and tumors. I was diagnosed about 2 years ago. We had no idea what was going on I was in extreme pain 24/7 and was in and out of hospitals. The doctors thought that it was my appendix so they deicide to do surgery and remove it. What they found was the endometriosis had broken through my uterus and had started eating away at my appendix. The doctors removed my appendix but because I was 17 at the time they didn't think the endo could actually be the problem because endo is only in women 20+ right? So they never told us about the endo found and sent us to a GI doctor. The pain soon came back and it was horrible we didn't know what was going on? Well thank God, our GI doctor told us to go to a OBGYN and see if endo was the problem. Our OBGYN did surgery and he found tons of endometriosis. Afterwards he told us about the previous report about finding endo on my appendix, and asked us if we were ever told about this? He was shock when we told him no. And we found out that endo can grow in girls as early as 12yrs old! I couldn't believe it! I wanted to tell ever doctor on my pediatric hall and tell girls every where so they didn't have to go through the same thing that I did. Later on my endo came back and I had my right ovary and fallopian tube removed because three tumors were on it. And now my endo is back again and I am a waiting another surgery. My endo comes back every 4-5 months and it is extremely painfull. Most days I just lay in bed curled up in a ball crying with an ice pack on my stomach. It is a horrible disease and yet not many people know about it! And where I live in Greenville, SC there is no help group to assist these women in horrible pain and I'm not sure how I can get something like this started or who to talk to about this. That's part one 🙂 helping women in Greenville, SC with Endo and spreading the word about this disease! Part two 🙂 I live right now with my parent in a 2 bedroom and 1 bathroom house. And there are 5 of us, 3 girls and my parents. And the house itself is falling apart with my many medical bills and with my Dad's low income and my Mom trys to work extra jobs cleaning houses even though she has rheumatoid arthritis there is still no way we can afford a bigger house or even do an add on. My parents try to make repairs but their is a limited amount that they can do. Right now I feel like a burden on my family and I would love it if you all could makeover our house and take that burden off my parents because they deaseve so much better than this!( ps. I did not tell them about this because I want to surprise them if you all so graciously deside to choose us)

  24. I'm writing for my son and his wife who have 10 children, ages 13 to 5 weeks. The house they are living in is owned by them but is not an adequate size for a family of 12.

Their plan is to "some day" add on, and they are by no means unhappy. Yet, to have adequate space would be such a gift.

I might also add they have Henry, who is special needs, 5 1/2 years old and facing his second surgery for his left hip. Total reconstruction is necessary.

Situated in the middle of rural, central IL, my son works at a farm implement business, and is busy with multiple gardens to feed his large family. My daughter-in-law homeschools, and well, you can imagine the busy, busy days in their little home.Their house has only 3 bedrooms with 4 girls in two of them. The two boys are in the parents bedroom for now.

Thank you for your consideration, thank you for the good work you do.

    Sincerely,Grandma Marge

  25. My name is Rumbidzayi R. Munamati, I am a lady aged 40. I live in a country called Zimbabwe which is situated in the southern part of Africa. I lost all members of my family due to illness. My mom suffered an asthma attack in May 2010 and she died, my dad just collapsed due to high blood pressure and diabetes in September 2012 and he died, my eldest brother died from HIV related illnesses in August 2010 and he died, my other elder brother had pancreatic cancer in 2009 and he died and my elder sister had tubercolosis in .November 2003 and she died. I am all alone now, I was the last born in the family. I suffer from a rare condition called Ataxia which is a neurological sign consisting of lack of voluntary ciordination of muscle movements. It is a non-specific clinical manifestation implying dysfunction of the parts of the nervous system that coordinate movement. This condition has rendered so many challenges for me in terms of movement from one place to another as I find it difficult to use public transport. Currently I am working on contract basis as a Data Entry Operator, I solely use a computer at work because I can use it with so much ease. I stay in a four roomed company house made of wood but I managed to secure a stand measuring 200m2 where I anticipate building myself a house. The problem is that I am finding it difficult to build the house because of the meagre salary that I earn hence I am kindly asking you, Extreme Makeover team to intervene, if possible, in my predicament and help me realise my dream of building a house. I always watch your programmes on TV and I am deeply touched by the great work that you are doing of helping out the underprivileged members of society. It is my sincere hope and wish that you consider my application. I enjoy making my own clothes and making door mats, wall hangers and bathroom sets.

  26. Hello extreme home make overs. I have read through some of the posts and my heart breaks. There are so many people in need. I would like to nominate my parents who live in a small town in the north Georgia mountains. My father served his country in the army in Vietnam. And as we all know when he returned he was shamed(not praised) for his service.he let my mother and they were married 50 years ago. They had 5 children (all girls ) and they felt it was important for my mother to stay home and raise us. So needless to say my dad worked numerous, back breaking jobs. Sometimes he would come home, sleep for an hour and be gone for another 8 hour shift. As kids we never knew the struggle. We had everything we needed and never realized the sacrafice. My mother always wanted to go to nursing school but she also put that on hold and took on the responsibility of raising her kids. And neither ever complained. As we got older and were all in school, mom went to work, not pursuing her dream, to help with the finances. We then moved from the north to the south to be with my grandparents. Mom began working as a custodian(and was the very best at what she did). She worked hard manual labor (as did my dad) . 15 years ago my dad was diagnosed with prostrate cancer. Mom and dad had always been inseparable and this took a till emotionally on them both. See they raised us in church and always taught us to work hard for what we got and never lose faith. So through the whole ordeal they both stood strong and never lost their smiles. Dad had his prostrate removed and after a year of check ups he was cancer free! Both parents continued to work hard. They bought an older house on 6 acres( that was financed for 20 years). During that time they gave 2
Of my sisters am acre a peice so they would have a place to start their own families. They never charged my sisters for the land they said is made them happy just to have them close. My dad's years of hard work began taking it's toll on him physically so at 65 years old, against his will, my mom made him retire. Yet she continued to work. When she was little she had a form of polyo and had to learn to walk again. As she got older and being on her feet walking miles a day thru a huge school on concrete floors, she would come home with her feet and ankles so swelled she could barly make it into the house. But she never complained. I heard her talking to my dad one night telling him her ankles hurt so bad that day that she went into the bathroom stall at work and just sat down and cried. But she continued working every single day. We tried to get her to retired but she said she had to keep going at least until the house was paid off. Raising 5
Kids they were not able to have money saved for themselves.when the house was finally paid off and mom had given 20 years to the school system she retired. At that point the house that she had worked so hard to pay off was falling apart. The roof leaked, the floors were falling in and the house developed mold. But my parents(never being materialistic) were
Proud of what they had. Last year my dad had a sore throat and mom took him to the dr. He again was diagnosed with cancer. Throat cancer and it was in his lymph nodes. At this point my dad was 69.
My parents talked about it and giving up was never an option. So hand in hand they began another battle. My dad began radiation and chemo 5 days a week for 9 weeks. In week 7 dad started having cheat pains and my mother rushed him to the hospital. He had suffered a heart attack( possibly from all the treatment.) he was put in the hospital and received 3 stints. This put his cancer treatments on hold. After he was released he had to go through 5 weeks of cardiac rehab which also took a toll on him physically. But he nor
Mom ever lost faith and kept pushing on. This past week he went for his 6 month pet scan and thank God once again he is cancer free. We have no history of cancer so drs believe dad's issues may be caused from his service time in Vietnam. And mom has developed respiratory problems from the years of breathing in harmful chemicals at the school. My dad has gotten to where he is exhausted all the time and has to nap several times a day, which is so not like him. And mom has bronchitis numerous times a year. We believe the mold and their living conditions have contributed. But mom and dad are very prideful and never complain. My wish for them is that now , after years of working hard and always doing for others, that the house they worked so hard to pay for doesn't make them physically sick any
    Longer. I know they are
Older and may not be looked at as someone who will benefit from this for very many years, but if you could provide this gift to them, we may have them for many years to come. And if anyone deserved it my mom and dad do! Thanks for any consideration!

Three years ago I had moved into my grandparents, who are no longer with us,home on their farm to pay rent to help pay of their estate that was currently behind and at the time up for sherif sale. I made the choice because I did not want to see what my grandparents worked so hard for just disappear. I work three jobs and am putting myself through school. It is a real struggle. The house needs major major major repairs. It is outdated and needs major TLC I try to keep up with as much as I can but paying the amount I do to live there and struggling with work and school I fall behind so much. A few times I thought of moving just to lessen the burden on myself because it stresses me out to the point I ended up in the hospital sick with shingles but I just can't walk away from their home. I'm never one to cry out for help ever I've worked since the age of 13 and take pride in being mature At such a young age but I feel I will never be able to save to fix their home. I will never get ahead. I'm not even asking for a lavish huge home. I would just love to keep it simple like my grandparents did.

  32. Mother of 3, which 2 are disabled takes on 3 additional foster children.
Hello…my name is Rhonda. Your show came in mind today as I was walking through my cousin's house with her so that she could show me what she has accomplished so far on her home renovations that she is doing by herself. We laughed together at the fact that she took a hammer to some old wooden shelves and at how being able to demolish them with a hammer was probably a good stress reliever.
She hides her dress well, but I know she has plenty on her shoulder's that she has to keep tucked away in order to keep up with her day to day. She has 3 biological son's. All under the age of 10 and recently took in 3 of her uncle's small boy's.In the last 5 year's she has learned that her middle son is Autistic and her youngest son was born with a rare heart condtion that has led to traveling to Seattle from our home in St. Ignatius Montana for 3 different major heart surgeries. With this specific heart condition there is still a long road ahead. She has been so strong for her boy's through all of this and is my super hero for coping with all this as a young mother herself with no help. Her mother was my first cousin and passed away about 13 year's ago and her father lives far away and has never been apart of her life. When her mom passed away she had 4 younger siblings and all of them were just kind of spread out amongst family and friends to be taken care of. This broke her heart that they were separated so the day she turned 18 she started the process to get custody of her younger siblings and did all the requirements needed and they were living with her within a few months. This is why she is my Hero! She gave up her younger years to become a parent to her younger siblings. Now they are all grown up and she has her own 3 boys she decided to by a house this last year. It's definitely a fixer up'er as far as the rooms downstairs but the upstairs was good for her and her boy's so fixing the downstairs to make it livable was something she could work on at her own pace. That was the case up until a couple months ago.
Her mother's brother had his children removed by our Tribal Children's Protection Services. We live on the Flathead Indian Reservation and are member's of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai tribes and there is a pretty high percentage of families living within the poverty guidelines as there is not a lot of work available.
So, with her taking 3 of her uncle's boys who are in age of 10 year's old and younger she now needs to create adequate living space for them. She has the downstairs of her house that would give them rooms to sleep in but right now it's just a empty rooms with concrete floors and walls with cracks, holes and leaks. She is trying to do the work to make the downstairs liveable for the boys but has no experience, limited resources and most of all….limited time and energy. I hope this is a situation you all would consider helping with as I can't think of someone more deserving of getting a break in life for something like this help to be available for her. Like I said….She is my HERO. She gave up her youth to raise her younger siblings, is currently staying strong for her 2 disabled boys and opened her home to keep 3 brother's together and with family that aren't her own children. Please consider her for you help. Thank you so much for your time!

  37. Hi I live in Florida City Fl. I was diagnosed with lupus in 2009. It's been really hard for me. I try not to let this nasty diease get the best of me but it has taken so much from me. My home is old and it really needs to be restored inside and out. I have a crawl space in part of the house everytime we have heavy rain it floods the inside of the house. Theres a chance that mold can really be in the home. The plumbing the electrical work the roof, and everyroom in the house needs to be made over this house is really a piece of eork needed to be done. But its my home in i love it but I cant afford to do anything to it on my fixed government income. I would really appreciate if uou all could consider my home as one of your makeover jobs.

  38. Hello…. My name is Eunice',I'm from Memphis ,Tn. I was writing to extreme makeovers for my mom whom recently retired and almost a year ago just gotten married but had been on hard times. I picked up my children from her house yesterday and she was walking me around the house showing me everything she needed help with. I try to help my mom because she has been such a big help to me raising my young four children whom are 12,10,8 and 6. If it was not for her I would not be where I am today. When my husband walked off and left I couldn't afford the rent where we stayed so my mom open her doors and allowed my children and i to live with her for as long as I needed no charge. That allowed me to get on my feet gaining a career. Her roof is in horrible shape. Water currently comes inside the house whenever it rains and also birds, squirrels in other rodents. The back part of the house is rotting away from untreated wood that was used years ago when she pay the contractor to do work on the house. That addition that was added to the house was done wrong it currently rains inside of that area of the house aswell. In that area of the house it's not liveable, its falling apart she currently use it as a storage. My mom worked for Memphis City schools for over 30 years . Last year ago the school system merge the city with the county causing her to lose all her benefits and having few options but to retire. This hurted mom my mom dearly but they were not going to credited her for the years she had worked. It was as if she was starting over on a new job. Due to low income and help her children, she fell behind on the upkeep of the house and at times just didn't have it to spend. My mother have raised 6 children and helping with all of her 22 grandchildren .My mom have been living in her house for 25 years and I would hate for her to lose everything now she worked so hard to get. The kitchen was in terrible shape and her neighbor stepped in to try to help with the running water and to do a little remodeling in the kitchen. All help is appreciated but the house is so so behind in the upkeep . I worry that an electrical fire might start due to the rain that comes and the breaker shortage and my children are there while I'm at work. I woke up out of my sleep just to Google ….. and i thought about your show and how you have helped so many families in need and if it was any possible way that you can help my mother in her time of need. My stepdad has been such a big help since he has came in our lives. He is a proud formal firefighter, but due to an knee injury he has a difficult time going up and down the steps. So a lot of days they sleep downstairs and not able to sleep in their room. It's been almost a year since my mom my stepdad gotten married but was unable to afford a honeymoon due to spend what little they had for their wedding. They both stayed celibate until they wedded always trying to live right in God's eye. They are such wonderful people and believe in the power of prayer. They both have been having health issues and have been back and forth in and out the hospital . I don't want my mom or dad to give up on life. Please if you find in your heart to look in my heart and help me help them. Thank you in advance Eunice'

  39. Hi, my name is Nicole and my family and I live in Covington, Tn. About 4 weeks ago our home burned to the ground. So, we have all been living in a hotel the last 4 weeks. We had 11-12 people living and staying at the house, which included 2 babies, a 1yo and a 6 mo old. We also had 8 fur babies, which included 5 dogs, a cat, a bunny, and a chinchilla. Fortunately we were able to get all of the people out of the house safely, but unfortunately we were only able to save 4 dogs, which we have with us in the hotel.
The house belonged to my sister. My husband, 2 of our teenage daughters and I moved in with my sis and her family the first week of Dec. due to financial problems. My husband lost a good paying outback in February 2015 and we have been struggling ever since.
Also, my sister runs a ministry out of her home called, God's Grace for the Single Parent, and she serves all of Tipton Co, Tn.
We lost absolutely everything we've ever owned, including my dad's ashes. This has been a horrible tragedy for my sister and I and our families. Our home was almost 5000SF. And we had my sis, bro n law, my niece, my husband, my 2 daughters, my pregnant niece and her fiance, my sis n law, and 2 babies we were babysitting. Luckily that night my sis n law was out of town, and my husband was at work. This has been the hardest thing I've ever had to face because my sis and I are used to helping others, not the other way around.

  40. Hi I'm writing to ask for help for my Grandmother and Grandfather. They've been the rock in our whole family always providing us kids and grandkids a place to stay through troubling times. Sometimes as many as 10 of us can be cooped up in her 3 bedroom 2 story duplex. Awhile back my Aunt got sick with cancer and died, whiled my grandfather grew sick and had to quit his home business. Sometime after my aunt pased they went to refinance the house and through my grandfathers illnesses somehow my grandmother is only paying thousands in interest rates and zero to the principal. Time as passed and now she's had to move her and my grandfather downstairs to the living roon. He spends most of his time in bed and hasn't been able to take a shower in I don't know how long now. My uncle is the only one who has been the maintenance man. driver and caretaker for both of them. He was sick with cancer also and I'm not positive that it is gone. He is refusing treatment after undergoing one already and refusing a false bladder. In the meantime my mother who also had been very ill and also passed away this April making it my Granparents 3rd child that has passed on. They had lost a son just as a baby long ago. I am in my own struggle often finding myself staying at my grandmothers but now I cannot even do that. The house has gotten bedbugs and with my grandmother having pulling money from here and there to make ends meet cannot take care of the issue. She cannot afford to refinance and everyone there who comes and goes is suffering from these bites. I beg of you to please consider our family. We could sure use something good to happen to us and I would love to be able to give my grandma something before I lose her next. Thank You very much for hearing my story. Please consider us for your show.

  41. I think my family and I deserve this home make over because we have 5 people living in a 2 bedroom,1 bathroom trailer that was built in 1964. The 5 people include myself, my girlfriend(the mother of child),her two kids and our new born baby. But thats just the beginning we were told the whole pregnancy that everything was fine, until 3 weeks before her due date we got sent out to magees womens hospitals for a emergency ultrasound, where they informed us that the baby had 2 strokes in the womb which caused bleeding on the brain and 3 of the 4 ventricles to fill with liquid (hydrocephalus). which caused a substantial about of brain damage. we were told that he would not live after birth because he would not be able to breathe on his own so we had two choices either life support so everyone could see him or comfort care with us before we lost him. The very next day she got called back for a emergency c-section. when he was born a miracle happened and he came out crying and breathing on his own. He spent over a month in the hospital where he went through brain surgery for them to place a shunt in for the hydrocephalus to drain the liquid outta his brain because his back brain lobe is blocked and is unable to drain by hisself. But during the surgery his heart stopped and they had to perform CPR on him 3 times. Just when we thought things couldnt get any worse his heart rate went up to 293 they found out the very next day that he had a extra wire in his heart which caused the high heart rate, and they cant do anything about it until he is atleast 8 years old. i do work a fulltime job but the kind of work i am in their is work some months and then others their is no work. i am 21 years old and i just want my family to be able to live comfortable in a house and not be cramped in a 2 bedroom trailer.

  42. Hi, my name is Jeannette Torres. I am a single mother. I have 1 daughter "Cherina", and grandbaby, "Jeremiah", and a adopted son, "Elijah". My grandson, "Jeremiah" has breathing problems in the winter and has to get treatments. My house is old and collects mold very easily. Buying my house I thought was my greatest achievement, but then things started to go very wrong. The roof started leaking, the ceiling caved in, when we tore up the damaged carpet, the cement came up with it. I serve my community as a Detention Service Officer. I work at the Adult Pretrial Facility in Visalia, California. I also try my best to help people, I have taken in 5 people in the past trying to help them get on their feet. I have giving 400.00 dollars towards someone medical cost, 600.00 towards someones funeral cost, and took money out of my retirement to pay my brothers rent for 4 months while he was under medical care and could not work. I was going to fill out an application a few years back, but I was told that you are no longer excepting applications. I looked up the website and the application says, "2009". So I am a little confused, do you still help people?

  43. Hello from a small town in Delaware.
In 2004, I married my first husband Scott. We bought a 1050 sq ft, 2 be, 1 ba ranch type home on half an acre. The home was built in 1954 and needed complete updating. Scott started various renovations. We lived here with our 2 cats until he passed away suddenly 2 days after my birthday in October 2011. We had no children.
Five short months later I met Craig in March 2012. Craig's wife had passed after an illness in December 2011. Craig has 4 children; 3 sons and a handicapped daughter. Due to her disability, she will always live with us. She's 27. The children range in age from 25-30. Craig and CC (his daughter), moved into my home. Quarters were tight. Craig proposed to me on my birthday 2013. We were married less than a month later on 11/12/13.
Due to my mother's declining health (she has extremely bad rheumatoid arthritis), she moved in with us on September 11, 2015. Space became even tighter. CC moved into what was the dining room and mom moved into CC's room.
We had a non-professional partially remodel the only bathroom this past December, 2015. Mom has extreme difficulty lifting and bending her knees to get into a regular tub, so we had a shower stall installed in the tubs place. We also had a higher toilet installed to assist her as well. The home is definitely not handicapped accessible by any means. She only leaves the house for doctor appointments because she says the stone front walk is difficult to walk on safely. We had a temporary ramp made from the front door to the driveway.
To sum it up, we really would appreciate a space that would accommodate both mom and CC's needs.
    Thank you for your consideration.

  45. I am entering this contests as a middle child seeking to be a winner for me and my family we are a family of 8 currently living in a 3 bedroom home and feel really cramped and there is clutter everywhere. As my parents get older we as a family are struggling to live comfortably. I want my family to live in a nice comfortable home and to live in this home wanting to be here and enjoy each others company. We don't sit or eat dinner as a family should not sit and communicate as a family would in a living room. I just want this family to pull together as one to socialize again and maybe even throw a couple of huge family gatherings. I feel this home is just to small for us and needs to be expanded but we are struggling with costs.

  46. I Don't know where to even start. I have a wonderful husband that works hard to care for us. Well my husband is in he's 60 and I am 39. Well 2 years a go we got a little oh my. we had a baby boy. My husband hurts all the time. I want to be able to make things better for him. He works 2 jobs . He has trouble with his hip, back, ect. All I can say is he is one that is always helping others I would love to be able to do this for him. From the bottom of my heart I ask please. But if you choose some one else that's ok to because there is so many that need help. We have trouble keep above water {bill} It would be nice to have a nice relaxing home to come to. He is a wonderful man that has worked hard his hole life I would love to have some thing nice happien to him. God bless you. Be safe out there.

  48. Hi my name is Kaitlyn and I live in Seagraves, Tx! My parents are nothing but hard workers and would deserve a home makeover. My parents have always had to put things on hold for our family to take care of others. When I was 15, which I am now 17, my parents had to take in 4 boys at one time. It took a big toll on our family not knowing if we would make it, but of course, my parents would do anything for anyone else. Things didn't get easier from there. Since Novemeber, 2015, my parents have been helping my grandmother pay Dr. bills for her chemo treatments and any other thing that she needs paid. My grandparents are looking to move in sometime to switch over to the Lubbock doctors for the remainder of tests that need to be done on my granny. We would love to have a nice place they can call home and feel very welcomed and homie for them to live in. It is going to be a huge devistation for my grandparents to leave where they call home because my grandfather has preached at that same church for 20+ years. As you see, my parents have had to put a lot of things on hold to take care of other people. Giving money out, and taking in other kids have really took the time and money away to have a home that they can call their dream home. My parents would be very deserving and would appreciate it greatly.

    Thanks,
    Kaitlyn

  49. My name is Don Romer and I will be 62 this month my health is not very well and have just gone through a delicut surgery. My mother in law and father in law both had cancer and wanted to stay in my home. They came up from Florida and moved in after about 5 years or so my mother in law passed away.About 2 years later my father in law passed away in my home. Most people would say I am crazy but when you least expect it somewhere in the house you will see them like they are still here.Upon the death of my in-laws I went through a chapter 13 and then a divorce. My house is coming apart and I no longer make the money I used to make because of company politics. At my age it to 9 months to find a job and at this time I am fighting to keep my home. Please give this some consideration.

  50. I would like to nominate my best friend in the world for an Extreme Makeover. She lives with her two daughters. She lost her only son four years ago after contracting a bacterial infection. She is trying to get her disability approved for SSI, which is taking forever. She struggles to pay her bills and buy food for her and her daughters. They sometimes only eat once a day to make their food stretch. They had a flood about 5 or 6 years ago that just made things worse with their home. Now the foundation is sinking into the ground, including the addition that is connected. The land has been hers since 1999 and was gifted to her by her mother and father. She had at one point a trailer given to her but did not have the means to get it to her place to replace what she had. She is a very loving person who does for everyone else as much as she can when she can without thought of herself. She loves making people happy. Her oldest daughter Samantha is taking care of her younger sister Theresa and mom Mary the best she can, by making jewelry and selling it online. She also does most of the cleaning as Mary is in alot of pain an can barely do any of the light house work.

    Mary, age 46
    Samantha, age 22
    Theresa aka Tessi, age 14

  51. I am writing in for my mother, who is 59. She has worked so hard for so many years at her licensed childcare in her home. Back in 1998 she lost her husband and son (my step dad and my brothter) to a drunk driver. My brother was 8 years old at the time. She was in the crash to but survived. Even though she has gone through a difficult time she always thinks of others and trys to think of ways to help others including my grandmother (her mom) who has been in bad health at times. She is always there for her doing her laundry or getting her groceries means its against the doctors orders for her to drive. My mom just recently sold her car to help pay for her bills but that doesn't stop my mom from going up town to get my grandma groceries and then walking them to my grandma's house. She works 60 hours a week yet it barely covers her bills. She use to have the back part of her house to run the childcare but she can not afford to heat all of it so has her childcare in the front place of her house where she has her own living space. I would love for her to have a place in the house that she could call her own apart from her childcare space. I would LOVE for you to help. She has a hard life but I know that this would bring so much joy to her life to see others do something for her.

  52. Hello, my name is Taylor Dickerson. I'm here because my grandmother house is a complete mess. She is 74 years old and her house is just old and raggedy. She is very disable and can't get around anymore. She had a wheel chair but her chair died on her. My grandmother is just in really bad shape. Her feets are always swollen, arms are weak. She is always stressing because we don't have the money to get her house fixed up where she can actually get around! I just feel like breaking down crying because I know my grandmother likes to get around and she can't do that. She tries to get around but she can't because she is very weak, and that breaks my heart seeing my grandmother cry because she can't do things anymore. Please help my grandmother out!
    Thanks for reading

Hi my name is Lakeisha, I am 38 years old, my husband is now 65 years old whom is my best friend we live in a small town called Madison Ga, you were here a few years ago for the building of a new home. My husband is a retired veteran of serving 20 years in the Air Force of the United States! I don't have a job at the time, I were hurt on my job and the day after I went back to work I was let go!!! We have an 4 year old son and he is very important to us; my husband and myself is both disabled; he has suffered from a cattle feeder that weighed over ten thousand tons falling on him causing both legs to be crushed along with suffered seven heart attacks back to back. Then we suffered the loss of our twin that we never had the chance to meet in 2008 after dealing with the hurts that all this had caused us; THE GOOD LORD BLESSED US WITH A HEATHY BABY THAT MEANS THE WORLD TO US!! Seeing about my husband that were bed riden and after under going three major surgeries trying too reconstruct his legs and feet; then the hardware failure landed another surgery and heart attack… Just when we thought that we had had everything to happen I myself suffered an stroke in which I lost my speech for a couples months, and I myself have tried for my disability but have not been blessed as of now. I'm suffering from fibromyalgia, an extremely bad back to I have to use a wheelchair on certain days because I can't walk normally nor can I stand. I'm on many many different medications totaling to 35 pills a day and a shot that I have to take. My reason for trying for this home makeover is because of the living standards and conditions of our home. We have tried to make home improvement and were ripped off by someone that we trusted to be the best of the best, the bad storms that we have had have caused several bad leaks in my home including in my bathroom in the light fixtures and this were what we thought the carter fixed. We have to place pans and buckets to catch the rain and we are both disabled and have a four year old son that is living inside of the house with us. I'm afraid that we will have him taken from us due to the conditions of the house. GOD KNOWS THAT I LOVE MY SON DEARLY, but we are poor with little income with no saving because of trying to pay doctors bills and medication. This is so hurtful to me because we have tried to receive many different helps but have been turned down every single time! Due to my condition and the way my back hurts so bad I can't even get into the bathroom door with my wheelchair or walking so I have to just take a hospital pan bath many days! I haven't been able too get into a bathtub in two years because I can't get out of the tub and my husband can't lift me because of his bad heart!!! I AM ASKING FOR THE HELP OF YOU GUYS TO GET MY HOME IMPROVEMENT FOR OUR HEALTH AND SAFETY!!! There's desperate help needed…. Especially the kitchen and bathroom along with wider doorways so I can get my wheelchair and walker through… Thanks so much for the first time I try to get the best help at heart. God bless your foundation!!!

  57. Hi my name is Jenifer Byrne and my husband Kevin Byrne. We have been trying to get a new home put on our land and we keep running into the word, no, you can't put that there or your credits not good anough and our land isn't worth anough. We have two beautiful children one boy his name is Jordan and he's five years old and one girl Alayna she's two years old. They have been sick for the past year due to the black mold growing through out our home. We've been trying to get a new home but finances are not good and we can't get approved for any kind of loan. Every time it rains I have to clean the mold that grows from it so there for I get sick all the time and calling out of work. I work as a cell phone salesmen and my husband has been going to school to be an expat tech. He can't find a full time position and the job he's got never schedules him. Based on his hourly pay the government won't help us with benefits and my job is keeping me just under full time so I can't get benefits. We are trying to get a loan to fix the place up but no one will approve us and even if they did it's going to take a big one to fix this. We don't need a fancy home just one that won't make my babies sick. My son wants to be an athlete when he grows up and I just hope he will physically be able to live is dream one day .

  58. My name is Emelia. I would like to nominate my very good friend Shari and her family for a home makeover. She is such a deserving person. She is always so thoughtful of everyone else and always going the extra mile for others but has struggled for years herself. She currently lives in a two bedroom trailer with her fiancé his son, her son, and her twin daughters. The girls have no bedroom at all and sleep on the hard living room floor. They are eleven years old. They have tried to save money to move or add to their house but Shari also just had oral surgery to remove all her teeth because of intense pain and decay. She now has false teeth. This was a huge setback for all of them financially. Six people living in a two bedroom trailer just doesn't seem right to me or fair for such an amazing friend of mine. Please consider!

  59. Hey! My name is Abby Palmer and I want to nominate my Mom and family to be on your show. My Mom went back to school in her early 40s as a single Mom to become a nurse. She did amazing! She got such good grades that she wore a medal at her graduation. She also worked while she was in school to support us. My father lives in Tennessee and was not able to help us. We all pitched in and struggled while she was in school in hopes that soon she would be a nurse and we could live a financially stable life on our own… the 4 of us. I am the oldest and have helped raise my 2 younger brothers Wesley and Sammy. A month after Mom graduated from nursing school she got badly hurt at her other job. Today she had her 4th hip injection and she has already had over a dozen injections in her back and 2 rhizotomys. Its been a nightmare for us. She is always in pain and is not able to sit, stand or walk without pain. So even though she passed her boards and got her RN license it doesnt matter. After much worry, we finally have some good news. We are getting an acre of land down the street from my Grandmother and Great Aunt in Moncks Corner, SC. My Mom is reading non stop about what we can do to build a house on the land. It would be an absolute dream come true if yall would consider helping my family have a place to live. We have had to move 3 times in a year all while my Mom is disabled. Prior to that we lived in the same place for 5 years. I have chronic anxiety and GI issues and my brotber has asthma. I love my family with all my heart but we have struggled so much sense my Mom got hurt in January 2015. We need a miracle. My Mom is the most hard working, determined, loyal, caring, and loving person i know. She used to go on mission trips to help the sick, poor and needy of the world. She wanted to become a nurse and go on medical missions trips to continue to help others with her new skills she learned as an RN. Unfortunately none of this may ever happen due to her injuries. I love your show and have watched it sense I was very young. I will be 18 in a couple weeks. We would be honored and humbled if you could help us in any way that you can. Thank you for reading this and i hope to hear from yall.
    Sincerely,
    Abby Palmer

  60. Hi i have an earnest plea for a family that lives close to me. The women's husband left her and her 3 small children 6 years ago.The women and her children live in a 70's single wide.Very bad shape. Someone recently had her contact humanity for life. She and the children were so excited that they were going to be in a new home.Well after a few months they replied to her that she was too poor to receive help from them. Really ??? They told her this about 3 weeks before school was out , so she decided to wait and tell them later on. Her reply to me in a text was – "well i guess i will have to put a larger tarp over the end of the roof ! Listen this lady works helping take care of the elderly and cleaning houses to support her family. She does get some help with utility bills and gas for taking children back and forth to school. And yes we and others help out with what we can. She has no extra money. You can be sure of this it would not have to be any huge home. My friend would be happy with something like a plain double wide home. MY Prayer is that this letter has been read and your hearts will be softened and understand what a great Blessing this would be for them- help from you. I am happy i took a few minutes to tell you a little bit of this family's need. Becky

  61. Hi My Name is Denea & I truly can't even think of where to start , I am 20 years old & have been living with my grandparents since I was just a six month old baby . Growing up all I experienced was seeing my grandfather work & my grandmother stay at home & take care of the kids , & I couldn't have asked for a better childhood growing up as I grew older my grandparents taught me to value the things I had & to always be grateful & that's all I go by .my grandmother eventually got sick & was hospitalized constantly after a while that's all I saw was the inside of hospitals for a very long time , & In 2007 on April 5 , one day before my 11 birthday She passed away , I had been waiting all day for her to call because I wanted to spend my birthday with her , but instead I received the most devastating most life Changing call I've ever gotten . I didn't know what to do , say or anything I felt like someone had taken heart out of my body & just stitched me up to feel nothing . After my Nana passed things got really tough at one point it was just me , my grandfather & my little cousin who is now 17 years old & is going to be attending college soon after she graduates Things were bad but we still managed to get by . But after a while bills got backed up at first it was the electric bill on & off , then it would be the water bill on & off , but I didn't let it bring me down because things always seemed to fall back into place , but then hurricane sandy came & we suffered terrible damages to our home , I remember it like it was yesterday I was asleep in my room & I heard this loud thump & felt this heavy pressure on my back , when I finally came to completely wake up , it was my own room ceiling laying right on top of me . The roof was damaged & it seemed like after that the house begin to slowly fall apart , but my papa didn't let that bring us down either he started spending money on things like fixing the side walk & certain things around the house but money still wasn't enough he eventually retired & used that money for the bills but it just seemed like nothing was enough . For a while he was sick but didn't want us to know but we eventually found out that his kidneys weren't doing good so now he's on dialysis, & so was my grandmother so now it's like everything is repeating all over again & I honestly can't take it anymore , what pushed me to write my story today is that , I woke up this morning to use the bathroom to come to find out that I couldn't flush the toilet nor wash my hands , not even take a shower , & I feel so lost & alone because it's just us now , everyone has given up on my papa & has just left us here to nothing . One thing I can say about him is that he makes sure that the mortgage gets paid every month he promised my grandmother that he would do that & he has kept his word , but I can't take sitting here with no lights or no water , some days not even groceries, I've applied to so many jobs that sometimes I find myself redoing applications . I know that if we could get some help from the best team out there *You Guys lol* our lives would be so much better , I just want this so that my grandfather can finally rest & just relax , and let us kids take care of him now & also for my grandmother to finally be at peace . Thank you for taking the time out to read my story & I hope to hear from you guys soon I love everything you guys do for people you're the best #TeamExtremeHomeMakerOver .

There are 6 People living here all together and 3 of them are renting rooms. Me and my girlfriend are staying in a room and 2 college girls in another room and 1 guy in the last room. My grandfather is dieing in the hospital and my grand mother might stay so we can look after her, she is sick and has cancer. My father sleeps in his office behind the bathroom. He is disabled and can't do much because of his hips. The house needs a lot of work and he can't afford to have it fixed. He plans to sell or even stay if he afford it in the future. We can't even afford food and have a tempted to sell anything so we can to get by. If my father loses this house then we will have no were to go. We need help. Some way, some how. We can't let our family fall apart. My father has been so desprite to keep this family together that when he met someone at an online date site and she said she would help out and move in but needed money to fly over seas to get here, ended up sending $800+ to her and she scammed him. He wasn't only upset that he was scammed but heart broken as well. I came to live with my father to look after him and make sure he was doing ok and our only hope is you. I've been through a lot and don't want my family slowly ripping apart.

  65. My mom has all sorts of medical problems . She's been a diabetic for as long as I can remember . She's survived open heart surgery , neck surgery and a few strokes and raising four kids . My mom became paralyzed at the beginning of 2015. She woke up one morning after a fall she had a previous day and she hasn't walked since . The doctors had prolonged her neck surgery and while my mom was waiting to have neck surgery she fell in the hallway , she got up and she was fine . The next day after waking her up from a nap I noticed she was unable to move . I thought that maybe she had had a heart attack . But that wasn't the case . My mom never walked again after that . My mom is confined to one little room in the house which is located downstairs . She is unable to go anywhere else in the house because it isn't wheelchair accessible. We had the downstairs remodeled before she came home from the hospital we spent over 10,000 in labor and renovations and nothing turned out right . The doors are not wide enough for her to get around , she cannot fit into the shower or the bathroom safety or comfortably so we must bathe her in the bed . My mom hasn't been in an actual shower since coming home from the hospital that's a little over a year ago . We are stretched on money because my stepfather is the only person currently working since my mom requires 24 hour care I stay home and take care of her . Since my moms accident she hasn't been the same . We don't have the type of equipment needed for her to possibly get better or at least stronger . Their is only so much we can do from home and from limited funds we are unable to get her into physical therapy . My mom is so unhappy where she is and she always talks about how she wishes she could go upstairs again or sit in the chair next to her dog like she use to do . We've lived in this house over 14 years so you can imagine the where an tear on the house . I just want to see my smile again . She raised four children on her own and she's always given her all for her children and I just want to be able to give something back to her . She deserves her freedom back.

  68. I'd like to nominate my sister and brother in-law. They were high school sweethearts and have remained strong loving partners for over 28 years. They have given so much if themselves to their hometown community and friends for many years. Both are teachers and donate hours of time and support to the children they educate. My sister is a 3rd grade teacher and my brother in-law is a coach and a co-athletic director of the high school they went to. They are caring and giving teachers and pillars in their community. It is nothing to see them volunteering at a sporting event, school program or running a city wide fundraiser for after school programs. A few years ago they purchased my brother in-laws parents home and had plans to update and remodel. However their son my nephew was diagnosed with T1D at age 11 and that changed everything. Their home is over 50 years old and has never been updated. I would love to see friends and family come together to give back to these beautiful giving people.

  69. Hi my name is Nicole. I have been through a lot in my life and so have my parents and sibilings. My parents currently rent a house because only my dad is working due to my mom having some health issues. I just moved back in with my mom and dad in texas because of some issues that happened with my real dad in Minnesota. I would love for my parents to have a new home that they don't have to worry about fixing up when something breaks or goes wrong because right know there are several issues going on with the house. it would be a absolute dream if I could give my parents a new house so they don't have to worry anymore becuasae they have worried so much and they don't need to. So please help me out and help build a new home for my parents and my sibilngs

  70. Hi, My name is Louise Van der Bank. My husband and I have bought a home in Gig Harbor Washington . We followed our married daughter and her husband and kids, made a hastily decision and now regret it. We missed our daughter and grand kids too much, just came on a vacation to see them, then put in an offer on a home. We wold our home in CA and for more than a year my husband did not work. Now slowly picking up clientele but it is a slow progress. We bought a home out of the proceeds of the sale of our CA home. Unfurtunaly this home is very run down. It could be a nice place, but we just do not have any funds left to remodel the kitchen or bathrooms or give the home some paint, redo the deck and woodwork. Our appliances are dying one after the other. First the dishwasher, now the range. The fridge is next, microwave bad too. I have four kids 17 and under, the boys bunkbed broke in the middle of the night, causing the bigger boy to fall on the smaller one, injuring him, trip to ER. We did a lot of good in her years, I did foster care for more than 34 years. Now I am sick, I have a surgery coming up June 20. My life could be so much easier, if my home is better equipped, and my kids would love a nice home, they deserve it. Please pick my home!
