  2. I am writing for my mother who is now 64 years old and has recently had a real case of bad luck for her and her husband they are both very sick and after her husband had to give up his job after 20 years due to his back totally giving out their home has completely fallen apart and the walls literally can be seen thru in spots to where 1 bathroom cannot even be used and the other you can see the pipes inside the wall and the wooden floors have holes in them ..my mother has always been there and even took in my children when cps had stepped into our lives for almost 2 years she's such a great lady and they struggle just to pay their mortgage so any repairs just aren't possible . The home was the home my grandparents owned so she has never wanted to leave it but there are so many things that need to be fixed it even used to have a garage but due to it getting so bad it also had to be removed . I would love to say I could do the repairs but I also am disabled as I lost my leg in a motorcycle accident after being cut off by a drunk driver.i am praying that she could get a new start as the house has many health risks and with them both having copd and so many health issues they could both be so blessed if given a new start she has 3 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren she hasn't seen in years… please help

  3. Hello
My name is jennifer graves. I'm 34
And I would like to nominate my mother for a home makeover. She a single woman thathas custody her 4 grandkids
iit's very hard for her she we all live in a 2 bed room house that my mom bought just for her but in a tragic accident my sister in law was struck by a car and killed 3 years ago and that's when things really got hard for all of us in the home we have my mother and my daughter her daughter and my 3 nieces and my son and myself we are really cramped up and the house is falling down around us we desperately need help please give us a blessing that will make all of us smile again.

  4. My parents have lived in the same 750 sq ft house since i was a yr old(33 yrs) Over the years, the house has literally started falling apart. My mom won't even have people over because she is so ashamed
Of the house in its current state. My parents always made sure we had a roof over
Our heads and put my education and my sister's education ahead of their own needs. They're not getting any younger, and need a stable house, one they're not ashamed of and can have people over and not have to worry about things constantly breaking. My parents met in the military. Six years, my dad found out he had kidney cancer and had to have a kidney removed. Luckily he had insurance, but no life insurance and as a result, he constantly worries about my mom and her well-being if something should happen to him. They would do anything for anyone. My dad always worries about my mom being left to live in that house in its current state if something were to happen to him. I would be so appreciative if my parents house could get a makeover. Thank you for what
    You do!

  5. Hello, my name is Faith Wilkinson I'm 18 and I would like to nominate the Watkins family for a home renovation. I moved in with my aunt and uncle almost four months ago. The family consists of Amanda (mother), Carl (father), Jon (2nd grade), Jayden (kindergarten), Hannah (baby to be), and me (faith). Amanda and Carl have been trying to buy the house from our church for several years, and they were doing what little renovations they could. In December amanda and Carl found out after years of trying, they were pregnant with their first biological child. They were so excited, they found out they were having a girl so they picked the name Hannah. Carl was still trying to fix things up. But three weeks ago we were struck with immense tragedy. Carl died at work, we still don't know the exact reason all we know is that it was heart related. But now we are all still trying to grasp what actually happened, trying to get our lives somewhat back to normal, and preparing for the arrival of baby Hannah. But without Carl this is making things very difficult. He handled all of the bills and taxes and payments and he also carried half of the house income. So we are now struggling with grocerys, bills, and the house was put up for auction. The house is not fit for the two children already here let alone a baby. All of the floors have holes in them and need to be replaced, the roof needs to be redone, the seals on the windows and some of the windows are broken, the porch has fallen through, and I think there is also a plumbing/water problem. And without Carl we don't have someone to fix it or theoney to fix anything. Please consider the Watkins family for a renovation, we are grieving and living In a home not fit for children with no way to fix it. We need your help, we Pray to God everyday for answers or a blessing or something to help us through it.
    Sincerely,
    Faith Wilkinson

  6. We live in a 1920's house that's in need for repairs. It's out dated and needs work .we have two sons ,Ethan and Evan and both are under 5. We have neighbors who have placed surveillance cameras into our yard and we don't have the money to build a nice wood fence and put arbivotas in to have privacy. We have huge tarps that we put up in our back yard and it looks so bad but does the trick for now. Our upstairs is just an attic but could be remade into a couple of bedrooms for the boys. Our windows are single pane, with 80's style aluminum storm windows on top of the old school ones. Thank you for considering us, I work two jobs and the hubby goes to school full time to get by. This house is very cute on the outside but needs help on the inside.

  7. Aanii (hello) my name is Jordon, I would like to nominate my aunt Andrea. She recently had a house built for her and it has caused her nothing, but trouble. Things are breaking, leaking, and sagging. This house has only been built a year ago.
She is a kind woman who takes care of her younger sister
who is 40 years old and is extremely handicapped. The house they currently live in does not meet their needs as promised by the tender.
Andrea is basically a stay at home parent and lives on a very low income. She cant afford to fix the short cuts the carpenters took on her own. She really is a good hard working woman, who looks after her family before herself. Please consider her story.

  8. My husband left my children and myself about a year ago and my house needs a lot of work and I was hoping you would consider helping me

  9. I like your Show. I am replying on be half of my karate instructor. His name is kyle Forrest. He is amazing to me. We are currently renting a n old building with one bathroom no heat and the celling is nothing but installation. I Know that you don't do building that munch, but we need a nicer place that we can call it our own.So if you consider helping us that will be great.

  11. Hi: My name is Sheila Offe. I'd like to nominate my daughter Tori Chevalier and her husband Andre Chevalier for an extreme home makeover. Andre is in the military based at Fort Knox, KY. They bought a small home in Radcliff, KY. The home has a lot to be desired. Since buying the home the family has grown to four. Ella is 4 years old and a special needs child. She has Aspergers. Eli is two and a very active, healthy boy. Tori has a difficult time working because of Ella's needs. It's very hard to find a child care that can accommodate Ella's needs. Andre of course is young in the military so has a very limited income. Ella receives ABA therapy three times a week but thankfully that is covered by their insurance which is why Andre cannot leave the military to find a better paying job. He would lose the insurance. They feel stuck in their situation with no way out and it is beginning to stress their marriage. Please find it in your heart to help this family. Andre has deployed three years of their eight year marriage. Thank you for listening. Sheila Offe

  12. Hello, where to start? My name is Jodi and my fiancé is Allen. Between the two of us we have six children and one granddaughter. Alaina 24, Sam 18, Tyler 16, Austin 16, Andrew 14, Steven 11, and Granddaughter Allyson 1. We currently live two homes. and when we are married the plan is to live in one home.
I rent a three bedroom townhouse and have lived here for three years. Allen lives in a three bedroom manufactured home. My one son will be leaving soon for the Navy and the daughter and granddaughter live in their own homes. However that leaves six of us in a bit of a close encounter. We plan make it work. Allen and I met when I was 14 and he was 21. One time, chance encounter. After my husband passed away, Allen wrote on my FB keeping check on me. Talked me through many grief crying fits. He only remembered that I was on his brothers FB, not that he had ever met me. Our first time out together was a drive in movie. Despicable me 2. Allen was making sure that I was not alone for the first wedding anniversary after my husband's passing.
Allen has congestive heart failure. His battle with this will be a long haul, but the house, it is not what I can upkeep on and the boys will be growing up fast. Please help me make a home for our six children and able to fill it with grandchildren!
Mora, MN has many opportunities to improve for the community. Even where Allen works in a Mom and Pop hardware big machine rental place.
Please help. We want to be able to have the family home for the holidays!

  15. Hi.my name is Crystal.Im a 24year old with a 6 year old.I currently live in a mobile home with my son and husband behind my moms.I am a medical assistant that works two jobs and my husband also works two job. we live pay check to pay check like most individuals, and we do whatever we can provide for our son. Our home was given to us by my mother its not beautiful but it's livable and we are thankful. Its the cold weather and hot summers that get me down. no central, and no good insulation in our home.We have done our best to fix up but it's just not enough. we buy space heaters and window units for weather but its either still too hot or too cold. When it rains it pours,we do have small leak, and we work around them. we are trying to save for a new home or buy a used one but if it's not one thing its another you either need a decent amount of money or good credit and we have neither. We would love to be the ones who get a new home. We work hard and my son deserves this. As a young mother, all I want is the best for my son. I did have at a young age but i still graduated high school, went to college, and have a career now thats alot from the town I come from! Im proud of myself but i feel its not enough for out son. i just want somethig we can call home, thats ours!! Thanks for reading!!!

  16. They always said; Go big or go home. But what if…you don’t really have a home to go home too?

We “The Andersen’s” are siblings. Currently living on Long Island, New York, we’ve been close for our whole lives. Always depending on each other, we learned quite quickly how we’d have to prepare for the world as growing up with our single Mom, times were tuff. We didn’t grow up privileged and we didn’t argue for not getting what we wanted. We were generally happy with what we got because we knew how hard our Mom worked for us so, we appreciated everything she did, has done and is still doing for us four. When I was diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome a few years ago, both my Mom and my siblings had been nothing but supportive and helpful as I make do with this disorder. No matter what we came from or where we end up going, the five of us, will always be a close bunch.

While the four of us were growing up, we weren’t running up and down the stairs or playing outside our house. We were busy following the rules at someone else’s house. We lived with relatives (who always ended up telling us we had to leave after our stay was enough for them); we lived in a motel (Actually, my Mom had lived in one before, when she experienced a house fire when I was just 72 hours old)and a few rentals.

Although we thought we had finally found what would have been our forever "home", it was sadly discovered that the landlord decided not pay the mortage and now we end up paying the price of his choice.

For single Mom's who understand that supporting four children on a single salary is extremely difficult. Plus, when school came around and bills came in, it became even harder. Something you never want your children to have to see or go through has already happened to the four of us. Wherever “home” was, it was never home. It was just a substitute until we could have the real thing. I mean—if we ever got the real thing.

We had been making it through for a while but, nothing prepared us for the scare of a lifetime that had left us shaken.

In November 2013, our Mom suffered a near fatal heart attack, followed by her arteries collapsing in January 2014 now being unable to work. If any of those days would have gone differently and without wonderful care from her heart doctor, she would not be here with us today. And surely that has left us with the thought that, if she would have passed…what would we do?

She’s our rock, the one person we depend on to get through almost everything and even when were sure she has worries and fears, she never shows it. She puts a smile on her face and she helps us get through the days as they come.

(Fact: Not only providing for her 4 kids, our Mom has always opened our home to kids who didn't have a place to stay or a place to eat. Never wanting them to feel like they had nowhere safe to be, my Mom let them stay for as long as they liked and she treated them all like her own kids. She even allowed animals in her home until she could find them there forever homes. I must say, the woman is a true super-Mom!)

We try not to worry about what’s around the corner for us but, we have nothing but worry. It would be one amazing dream to be able to walk into a home and be worry free. Be fearless that you’re not going to get kicked out or be unwanted from your own home. It might be stupid or silly to most people but, a home is where you make memories. A home is where you want to watch your children grow up, see them happy and in the greater near-future, have your grandchildren grow up in the same places as your own children did. Something our Mom has never gotten to do for most of our lives.

I know so many people out in this world need for something. Whether its food, a car or even a house like us. I was told to make an effort and try to see where this takes me. We’re not expecting much but, even just enough for a down payment for a house, would be amazing.

We are not looking for a fancy million dollar home. We are just looking for a home where we can lock the door at night and know that we are finally home.

In the end, we will still be the same five people getting through this life, day by day. Our Mom is a true hero to us and she’ll always be that way. To be able to give her a house (and her super awesome kids too) and a stress free break (like her doctors would love for her to have) from having to worry so much about what’s next, would be…speechless for words!

  18. Hi, my name is Carissa, I am 16 years old and I would like to nominate my family. I live with my grandma who does her best to support our family, along with my grandpa who is 57 years old and has been terminally ill since he was 33 years old. The both do the best they can supporting me, my sister, brothers, cousin, and my cousins girlfriend. Our house is a 3 bedroom single wide trailer and is not very handicap accessible, so it is a very tiny space for eight people. We all live off my grandfather's income so we really don't have much money to work with.
All I'm asking is for you guys to help my family and give us a safer and better home to live in.
    Thanks, Carissa

  19. This is my soon to be sister n law Alissa she's 27 with 7 kids … I want it to be a surprise but she's someone who I think would be really appreciative to have some one come and help her out for once me and her brother my fiancé and their mother do the best we can to help her out but having kids and trying to refurbish a home she bought 2 yrs ago it's hard to try and do .. Her pipes keeping being stolen and when she finally got them replaced they busted and her kitchen dining room and washroom flooded real bad it's only a 3 bdrm and they hardly have anything inside the home windows are broke and the toilet doesn't work (we have to go to the bathroom with a trash bag in the toilet)she has had quite a few surgeries from a returning hernia that won't go away and I just really want them to have a home to call their own … I know it's a long shot but I hope you really look into my story 🙂

  20. Hello my name is April. I have read the stories below which there are more people worst than us. I would like to nominate my family for this opportunity. Back in 2014 I had water damage to my kitchen which it took about 4 months to get it back to the point we can use it again. Then another water damage up on my second floor bathroom. While all of this going on their was a lot of family and work issues that I was dealing with. It got to much for me and I loss my job. After two weeks I left my job, my mother had her second stroke which she became paralyzed on her left side. So I stop looking for a job and started to take care of her and my family. She was in rehab for 6 months and recovered very little of her mobility back. I figured that I was able to care for her when she got discharged but did not realize it was going to be hard. Before she was discharged I contacted family, friends and organization to help me to equipped the room that I had available for her. I was stunned when I kept hearing sorry or no I can not help. She stayed here a week and had to put her back in a nursing home because I was physical hurting. Please keep in mind I do love my mom but my whole family is obese. I have already lost two family member from obesity. Right now we are behind in our bills and mortgage. I am asking for a helping hand to get a makeover for my home. Please help us even if a little help. Thanks!!

  21. I really hope you can help me. My home is a family home that was built in 1946, my mother was born in this house and her mother passed in this house 3 days after my mother was born. This house has many memories for me. My mother, great Aunt, Great grandmother, my brother and myself have all lived in this house at one time. After the passing of my great grandmother when I was four years old, we still lived here until I got married in 1989. My mother and aunt got some remodeling done in 1991. In 1994 my mother suffered a severe stroke and I was having to come home to take care of her and my great Aunt until my Aunt passed away in 1996. So then my husband and my two boys moved home to take care of my Mom. In 2006 my Mom passed away leaving me the house. Now the house is in major need of a makeover. The roof leaks and we have to keep putting tarps on the roof, there are holes in three of the bedroom ceilings from the leaks in the roof. One bathroom doesn't work, the ceiling has fallen in. Some of the windows in the house need replacing. I have tried to get a loan to fix the house but I keep getting turned down. This house means the world to me and I want to leave it for my sons and my 8 grandkids, who come to stay with me in the summer time. Please help me, I have entered several contest and I never win. I Love this house and I wish and pray that I can get it remodeled for me and my family. And to keep this home in my family is my dream!! Thank you and God Bless!!

  23. I would like to nominate my stepmom Laura abke.our chimney is leaking and is ruining my brother bedroom and wrecked our bathroom. the roof is bad too we have wood floors and we would like them redone but the kitchen is old besides appliances but Friday freezes so it's time for a lot of things to be fixed. We can't afford to fix these because my dad just passed away in June with cancer so we are very tight on money

  24. Hey there! My name is Lauren. I know this story isn't as special as the other ones but I thought I would give it a shot! I am the oldest of three children. My father left my mother and my two brothers many years ago. My mom is not only my mom, she is my hero. She works overnights as a RN. She would be up over 24 hours to make sure we got to school, school supplies, lunch money, groceries, a roof over our heads and clothes on our backs. She recently got married a little over a year ago to a wonderful man! He was out of work for two years and what not but thank God he finally got one. So my mom was providing for her and five other people, because he has a son. She lives on 5 acres out in Groveland,Fl. She has, and still is, helping my boyfriend and I with our place. I can't thank her enough for what she has done. Like I said, she is my hero. I understand there is way more touching stories out there that will melt your heart and again, I just thought I would give this a try. Her trailer is falling apart, there is no a/c or heating so they have fans and one wall unit, the master shower's floor is falling in, the roof has cracks. This would be a major blessing to not only myself but also for my mother, She deserves a new house. She works so hard and having to come home to a mess everyday is extremely horrible. Please just keep my mother's story in your thoughts.
    Thank you so much,
    Lauren

  26. Dear Extreme Makeover,
I'm writing to you on behalf of my father. My father has had a trying several years it all started in 2007 we lost my Mom. I don't think my father has moved on and since then his luck has run short. In October of 2012 hurricane Sandy struck my Dad's home in Queens, New York. Nothing has been the same since. My Dad lost the bottom floor of his house and has since than been trying to rebuild. After Sandy hit my Father did not receive assistance from his insurance nor federal help for about a year. Here comes the devastating part when he finally received funds from his insurance company he hired what he thought was a legitimate contractor to re due what sandy had taken from him. The contractor had re done the outer shell of the house and somewhat of the inside of the house but left with the rest of his money. Till this day my father is fighting to get his money back from a company that has disappeared from the face of the earth. He has struggled with lawyers, mortgage company's and his insurance company to help. My Dad is really handy but he is older now and cannot do it by himself. Too top this all off due too extreme cold weather on the east coast my Dad's main water pipe burst and has flooded underneath his home and he does not have the means to fix it. I'm not one to ask for help but I don't know were else to turn can you please help us.

  27. Hello. I'm a bit lost for words because I've never asked anyone for anything. I've always been a strong independent mother of 2 and have succeeded in providing for my family with difficulty but independently. However, sometimes life happens and I find myself asking you for help. I've seen your show and you are amazing at making a positive impact in peoples lives. I always see renewed spirits and I love those miracles. I get long winded…. sorry about that. I was a single mom and I met my wonderful husband in 2012. We were married in 2013. I am 44 yrs old and he is 50 yrs old. We reside in West Virginia. 4 months after we wed I had to have open heart surgery. I have not yet been able to return to work due to many other health complications. I was a nurse and still am at heart. My husband is a coal miner and as you may know the coal mining industry is not quite like it was. In order for his mine to remain open they had to take a pay cut and pay more for our healthcare. We need our healthcare because I still need more surgeries. Between us we have 5 children. Our oldest 2 children do not live at home and we have 3 boys 2 of which my husband has 3-4 days a week. What I'm asking from you is mostly about husbands dad and sister. His dad is 87 and his sister close to 70. The house that they live in is falling down. The floors are on the ground around the corners and one room has fell in. They are such a wonderful loving family and I feel helpless in trying to help them. The house is very small and they have accumulated a lot over the years. Being a nurse I have seen a decline in my father-in-laws health and I feel that within a few years he will be in a wheel chair and that would be impossible in their house. My sister-in-law on the other hand is showing increasing signs of dementia. She's a diabetic and forgets her medications. My husband works 12 hour shifts 5 days a week and doesn't have time, finances, or the know how to build onto our double wide to make them an area where they can feel they still have their own independence but yet are with us to be monitored. I'm so afraid that if someone seen the inside of their house APS may get involved. So if there is any way you can help us provide a living arrangement for the boys and for my in-laws to where I can keep an eye on them I'd appreciate that so much. Thank you for all that you do!

  28. I would like to get more information about the show audition. I also would like to help my mom out with the current house she is renting. The landlord is not keeping up the house. Our family has leaved here for over 40 years. Need advice and help asap.

  29. As I sit here tonight in my kitchen writing this letter my heart is still torn to pieces. This woman that I'm so proud to call my inspiration/sister has lost everything in a house fire. As her husband, herself and 2 youngest children traveled to Dallas TX from Houston TX just to see their oldest daughter compete in a Wrestling State Tournament. To find out that their entire house had burned down to nothing. Only having the 2 pieces of clothing they took on the trip. I write this letter because she is the most self less person I have known. She has always done so much for others and I want to finally do something good for her and her family. They deserve this more now at this point then every. I truly hope someone is reading this and can please please please help this family of 5.

Thank You from the bottom of my heart.

  32. Hello! My name is Lynn Brumfield. I got a divorce about ten years ago and moved from Los Angeles back to my childhood neighborhood of Marietta, PA. After being back in Pennsylvania about five months, the only home my mother ever owned, which was the household I grew up in, came up for sale. Here's where the real story begins. My father passed away at the age of 36 leaving my mother with 6 children at home. My mother was fortunate to be in the right place at the right time and was able to buy this current home to raise the family after my dad's death. She worked hard to keep the 2500 square foot home up but almost lost it several times. My sisters and brothers as they got older were able to contribute to the bills and up keep.
We had so many good family times in this home! My mother did the best she could until she passed away from cancer at 56. I was just 22 and couldn't believe I was without parents.
My brother, who was left the Executor of the Estate didn't fulfill my mother's wishes when it came to the only home she ever owned. My mom always said, she knew the house was large and tough to keep up, but when she died she really hoped one of us would be able to keep it up and maintain it as a family homestead. If that couldn't happen, then it was to be sold and the profit split six ways. My brother sold the home out from under the five of us and took all the proceeds from the home! I was devastated and we as a family were heartbroken. My mother was probably rolling over in her grave.
While I was still married I would return to Marietta to see my sister who still lives there and I would always visit the house too. I would walk by it and even tell my family I would get it back one day.
Like I said, it came up for sale after being out of our family for more than fifteen years. The couple that lived here were getting a divorce and had to sell. They husband didn't want to sell to me, but fortunately the wife knew me from my childhood days and refused to sell the house to anyone but me. Thank you Lord, my mother's home would be mine again!! I was about to buy it back. Unfortunately, it has just become a money pit for me. At the time of the sale I didn't realize all the problems with the house nor did I care. I just knew I wanted the home regardless if what it looked like. As a matter a davt, I don't think I saw the major repairs needed even ehfn I did my wslj through. My heart was in it and not my head. I try very hard to renovate what I can because I know my mother wanted us to have a place to gather as a family. We lost both our parents very young and my mother's dying wish is that we remained close with each other. That's all I want this home to be. There are some foundation issues, so mold issues, some insulation issues and just some cosmetics issues.
I just want to make my mother proud. I know the story doesn't have a lot of flare and drama but as the story goes it really does.
I'd love to surprise my brothers and sisters with a space that holds all of us comfortably. I just don't want my mother's labor and hard work to go down in vain. I need your help! I would love you show you what a small African American woman started and the legacy she left behind. I don't ever want this house to leave our family ever again,! However, I know if I can't get it up to par, I probably will have to sell.

  34. Hello! My name is Michael Smith, and I am a current resident of Summit, Ms! My fiancee and I have known each other for 12 years total. Our first 11.5 years of knowing each other we were just friends, but we recently realized the right person has been right under our noses the entire time. After high school she began her undergrad career at Dillard university, and I began mine at the University of Southern Mississippi. After the recent passing of her Grandmother, she confessed her grandmother always thought we should be together, and I confessed that from the moment I laid eyes on her I was in love. Truly love at first sight. After our wedding we will officially be moving in together to the 4 bedroom house her grandmother left her in the will, and we will make it into our own. The house is beautiful, but it is unfinished. The original crew that was working on the house did a poor job in some areas, and did not finish the master bedroom, master bathe room, and most of the kitchen. This a beautiful home it just needs a little care, and I think the best wedding gift I could give would be to have our wedding in the front yard since she wants an outdoor wedding, and the property is gorgeous. Please accept this invitation to be a part of our special day, by making our dreams come true!

  36. Hi my name is Jason Snapp I would like to nominate my fiancé Wendy Work. She is such a wonderful strong willed women that takes on so much and helps so many and rarely takes time for herself. Our child has ben diagnosed with a rare chromosome disorder and heart and kidney problems and has recently started having seizures. with every thing going on with Dr visits home therapy and being a full time mother and a full time provider to all 3 of are chidren and one on the way. she does the impossible at times,I love her so much shes done so much for me and our family I wish so much to be able to give back to her. This would be the most amazing thing to ever happen to her. PLEASE PLEASE help her and our family. we are located in Mooresville Indiana. this opportunity would be a blessing. Thank you so much for your time.

  37. I Honestly don't want this for myself although I will benefit from it. I want this for my husband Andrew M. Tomkinson And my 4 Step children. I have only been married to him for 2 yrs. He has full custody of his 4 younger children ages: 13, 10, 7, and 5. He works for our little family and truly doesn't have time to do home repairs or even Maintenance. I do not work as I home teach the three older children. I try to maintain the yard, however we don't have the resources to keep it from looking like the creepy house on the block. I have watched him worry about having all the things his family needs. He gives selflessly and would give anyone the shirt off his back. The children have suffer serious trama from the previous mother and step siblings and have adjusted well to our marriage. the house it self is over a century old and is drafty and in need of repair and help. The basement leaks and it only has one bathroom. The boys have to share a room that is in adequate for a teenager and a 7 year old to share. The 10 year old girl sleeps in what we call the loft but there is no heat accept a wood burning stove that when the wind blows u can not build a fire in it. We have 3 outside buildings that are in disrepair. what we call the barn is where our makeshift chicken coop is. My husband and these 4 children have struggled hard and have been through so much. I would like to see them have some to true happiness and home they feel proud and happy to live in, not one that has memories of pain and abuse. I love them more then they could ever know. The lord blessed me with this wonderful family to take care of and I would do anything to show them that the world has a lot of good things for them.

Thank you and may the lord Bless You,
    Angela M. Tomkinson

  43. Hi,
my name is Ashley Hagan, and I would like to apply my grandmother in-law for extreme makeover home edition. This sweet lady will be 70 years old this July, and will still work any job she's able to take care of herself and her grandchildren. She has a home in Claxton, GA, which has more problems than I could mention here, and after losing her husband to cancer last year, she's just not able to keep up with the maintanence and repairs of the house. My husband does what he can to help her, but it's just not enough. the kitchen in this home has been in the beginning stages of remodeling for two years because the family was not financially capable of finishing the project once our grandfather was diagnosed with cancer. The air conditioner unit needs replacing and the floors and windows are all in terrible condition. There's a very bad pest problem that nothing seems to help, along with other issues that make the home hardly suitable for the 4 children living there. I can not think of anyone else who would deserve a home make over more than this lovely lady. In the ten years I've known her I've never heard her complain about one thing, and has always bent over backwards to help her loved ones, or even a complete stranger. It would be a blessing for her to be given this opprtunity.
    thanks!

  44. My partner and I live in a "modified" double wide. We currently have 8 people in our home because we are trying to help her sister and brother in law and their 4 months old daughter. Many of our electrical wires are exposed. Our hot water heater wiring has caught on fire three times. My partner has a six year old daughter that we raise together without any help from her father. We both work full time and only have one vehicle to transport myself, her, and her two sons to various jobs as well as the six year old. We both go to sleep at night worrying about the house catching on fire in the middle of the night. In addition to this our water line runs across a creek and my partner often has to wade across it to shut off the water to do any repairs as there are no shut off valves on anything in the house. Our water pipes are also exposed and often freeze up in the winter. The sinks in both bathrooms are broken and have no water running to them. We have no trash pick who at our house and have to haul our trash to other locations. This is difficult as well because of our small car. Also there is mold in at least two of our bedrooms. The front bathroom floor is falling in. I have 401 k but am not allowed to withdraw it unless I quit or get fired or basically have a natural disaster occur. We would just like to have a safe home for our children without so much to worry about..

  45. My house was built in 1949.I have there for 30 years.I raised two children in the house and now I raise my 11year old grandson by myself. He has several diseases in both eyes. Our house caught fire December 12,2014.Leaving us homeless. We're having to stay with my mother, because we can't go home.My grandsons name is Raelyn Codie Hill and he cries every night to go home. The home is not totaled ,but I had no insurance. Therefore I don't have money to fix it.I have a lot of health problems,so I only work as a part time waitress. My grandson watching your show regularly and asked me to write you.He said they might would help us MawMaw.Please help us get to go back home!!!Thank you so much,Tammy and Raelyn Hill

  46. Hello,
I would like to nominate my mother for a home make over. She is a strong Christian woman, yet with me and my siblings all grown up we worry about her living in the conditions she lives in. Not to mention even though her and my father are divorced she still raises, and financially supports, my fathers son whom is 7yrs of age. It concerns my siblings and I that her house is not safe anymore. She has fallen through the floors several times, and still has to use plug in heaters throughout the house, since it's an older home and she just can't afford to pay for renovations. Between friends and family we have all tried to do some diy projects, yet with the home being so old it's tough when we consistently run into more problems. We have tried to get my mom to move, yet since this house is the last house kept in our family it does have extreme sentimental value to her and other members of our family. I really do feel that she deserves this not only because, yes she is my mother, but she has been sacrificing doing things for herself since I can remember. She is the woman who does things behind the scenes and does not expect any recognition, because it truly makes her happy to do for others. But, now I feel like it's time for her to be blessed. She was diagnosed with cancer about two years ago, and it definitely has taken a tole on her, not to mention other health issues that she has.She is definitely a fighter, because even through a nasty divorce, and fighting cancer she has continued to work at a Christian Home School for kids with special needs and kids who the public school system was not able to assist properly. Along with that she still pushes to give my little brother a good life, yet we can see at times she gets exhausted and concerned about the dangers of the house. With her and my little brother living there it really concerns myself along with many of our friends and family, that one day the house may just collapsed due to structural issues or the state will just come and kick her out because it is unsafe to live in. I know it must be tough for you guys to chose ,but if I can just get an audition for my mother you guys will be able to see what I mean, about a woman who truly deserves this.

  47. Hi, my name is Monicia Wright. My husband injured his back on his job six years ago. Because of all the medicine and steroid injection he is know diabetic. He had a mild stoke and a heart attract scare. With no solution from the doctors other than pain medication he was out of work for 5 years. Last year his niece died and we took in her 14 year old triplets. We went from a family of 3 to 6. it's been hard but we love these kids.we really need more room for our family. We have three teen age boys in a small room together.my son is 13 and is 6 feet tall and one of the boys has special needs. With all of this my husband has took a turn for the worst. Two day after Christmas his back flared up so bad her couldn't walk for two month. They gave him more shots that did't work and now he is on insulin. We are waiting to see if he can get surgery an if they take our insurance. This has been very emotional for me taking care of three children that lost their mother and a sick husband ,house work and my job. Our house need some care.please pick us for the make over.

  48. Hi 🙂 my name is Renee Serna i don't know if my story is good enough to be picked for the show but i might as well give it a try 🙂 im a mother of three wonderful children and currently live in Minnesota my boyfriend, kids and i are moving to north Carolina in about a week to live with my mom and step dad.we are moving because my dad and mom were in a motorcycle accident about 2 months ago. Although my mom was not hurt badly my dad severed his spinal cord in half and now is paralyzed from the waist down. My parents do not have the money to have a full time caregiver help with my dads needs.so my family and I are moving to north Carolina to help my mom take care of my step dad. I myself work as a caregiver for the elderly so i have some experience with helping people who are bed ridden or wheelchair bound.
My mother's house is a two story home that is definitely not wheelchair accessible not mention having 6 people in a three bedroom home is going to be a very tight squeeze. My dad now has to sleep in the den. My mom has tried her best to make it a comfortable bedroom for my dad bit i know he would rather be able to sleep in his own room upstairs with my mom. Being paralyzed from the waist down has emotionally and physically been hard for my dad and mom. My mom talks about how my dad don't want to live like he is now and how he hates being a burden on my mom. So I'm hoping that having more family around and being able to help my mom with the care giving for my dad might take some of stress off of both of them. So what I'm asking i guess is if you could please help make my parents home more handicap accessible so my dad can be more independent and feel better about himself.
I thank you for taking the time to read this 🙂
    Renee

  52. Hello My name is Mike. I am 53 years old. I have been married to my beautiful wife Laura for almost six years. Both of us are disabled me for various injuries caused by my epileptic seizures which has resulted in over 15 surgeries including 3 hip replacements plus knee and shoulder replacements. My wife was injured over in Iraq working as a machinist in support of our troops she had all of her fingers caught in a lathe and had to have two of them totally reattached. Since she has been home it has been very difficult for us as she also had some brain tumors which almost took her from me. Before my injuries I was a union sheet metal worker her in Cleveland OH. I live in a house owned by my parents and was doing much of the remodeling myself. I have the wring duct work and gas lines all done. Then my seizures started. The walls are unfinished and I am not able to do many of the things needed to finish the house anymore. My parents are both in their late 70's and unable to afford to pay to have someone do it. My wife's health has suffered and we are still waiting for her settlement from AIG the company that handled the claims for the employer. Then back in May the only possession I had that meant anything to me or was worth anything, my 1984 Choo Choo custom El Camino was totaled in a freak accident in which I was lucky to come out of alive. This house has only been owned by our family since it has been been built going back to my great grandfather. My Mom grew up in this house and it would mean the world to her to see it fixed up before she goes to heaven where she will be with my older brother Jim, who passed away at age 37. He died in the church parking lot after Mass one Sunday of an aneurysm. I hope you might consider this request but I understand there are a lot of other people out there that might need it more than me. Thanks Michael J. Flanigan

  53. Dear Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. My name is Savannah Miller. I am 17 years old. I am the daughter of Max Miller and Lori Brinda. I have one older brother named Josh. We live in a three bedroom ranch house in a small neighborhood. My mom is a nurse and my father lost his job and was forced to retire. My parents do not make enough money a year to support the family as well as renovate our house. Several years ago, my brother became addicted to heroin and stole almost all of my parent's money that they had in the bank. Since then, all of our old appliances such as our oven, washer, and dryer have broken and we have not had to money handy to replace them. Our laundry room walls have holes in them to the outside because they are rotted. Our roof is ready to collapse. The ceiling in one of the bedrooms has holes in it. We do not have a sink in our bathroom or even a tub surround. Our kitchen is destroyed. We have old appliances that do not work or barely work, our cabinets are completely rotted out and are falling apart. Our entire house is rotted with mold. The floor in the living room is an old wood floor with a section of the floor filled with ply wood because of water damage. We need your help. We do not have the money to get this house into livable shape and never will unless you can help us! My parents are hard working people. They are so determined and keep a positive outlook on things even though their life is extremely hard. I'm going away to college and I want my parents to be able to live in a home where they do not have to stress about what they have to fix next. Please help my family be able to live comfortably because they are amazing people who deserve a lot better than they have.

  54. Hi ABC! 1 of our 6 daughters had a second Liver Transplant! She was 9 months old with her first and she is now 10 yrs old and had her second. We have a tremendous tear jerking story that will draw in the crowds. Part of our story reveals that we live in a house built in 1925 AND when I married my current husband we did not get a honeymoon bc I took my little daughter on a plane ride out of state for medical reasons. There are eight of us in this little house and each of us have our own angle on this amazing journey. Want to hear more of our story, we would LOVE to be a part of EMHE so contact us!

  56. Hi. My name is Alesha and I would like to nominate the local high school in my town. Its a small school with close community support. Though at some point the funding line gets drawn. I am a chef at a local restaurant and have been volunteering my time at the school with the culinary classes. This is the first year in a very long time that they've had a separate culinary class from the family consumer science class. If I had more money I would help the instructor update their kitchen. They don't have a great ventilation system and I'm afraid one day what might happen. Also I know the instructor is trying to get the empty lot next to the school setup as a garden for the kids. The Kidd don't understand fresh ingredients in the classroom or in their cafeteria because we can't get decent fresh produce. We are located in Malta, Montana. We are the last or one of the last stops for the food trucks that come through here once or twice a week. I would like to nominate this school for a makeover especially the culinary classroom, the lot next door for their garden. I'm sure there are other areas that need help too. Please consider us!

    Thanks
    Alesha Wise

  58. Hello, I'm writing on behalf of my Loving Aunt. I have this overwhelming need to pay it forward and the only person that comes to mind is her and her family. I none the least have been blessed with a life I couldn't even have inmagined. Very thankful for the small things in life. So here's there story My Aunt(Peggy) and 3 of her children have been diagnosed with a very rare diease called facial muscular dystrophy(not sure of the exact diagnosis. In my cousins earlier years they were "normal" happy kids, walking, running kids. Wouldn't have known any different if you were to see them with the other kids. In their early teens they started with there troubles, their bodies changing in ways they never thought would have happened. My aunt raised 4 kids on her own for the time my youngest cousin was just a new baby. She has one son 34 and 3 daughters, ones 31, 28& 22. My cousins and Aunt are very dependent on one another considering there disabilities. They had to fight really hard with the state to even prove that they had a disability. They live in a very depressed county in Ohio. They are very depent on their wheel chairs to move about through their own homes. It's not a easy takes for them to get up and walk across the room. Or even to walk at all. They have a 2 story home with one bathroom which Is on the first floor. And the bedrooms on the 2nd floors. So something as easy as going to the restroom is such a task for them to take on. My aunt purchased her house after she and my cousins got their settlements from the state for their disabilities. That was over 10years ago and the house wasn't in the greatest of shape when she/they bought it. It was something to help them get out of low income based homes. They live month to month checks and can't afford to fix the things that go wrong with their home. My cousins have children of their own that live in this house all together and it's only a 2 bedroom home. My oldest cousin lives in a very small room/back porch off the kitchen no fit for anyone to live in let alone be spending all of his time confined too. They are very desserving a a new home to better suite their needs. They are well respected in the community and there are helping hands there watching over them, they just need a little something extra special to help them through their hard days. What more then to start with their home, where the spend 99% of their time. I would greatly appreciate if you would consider there story. I would love more than anything to help them. A very proud Neice and Cousin!! Heather

  59. My name is Brenda I simply have no hardships just my husband keeps trying to make repairs and has not finished one…I have a small house trying to fit a family of 6, 2 kids and 2 grandchildren to raise,we have moved our room in the basement which is finished but his way.I see so much wronge that he has done and this house could look nice.I have a Daycare that I run through my house I have a playroom with no heat for the winter months,so the children have no play area during the cold months, which leaves very little play area when I have one.I have a bathroom in the basement that is half done and keeps flooding.everything in my house is half done or done wronge.PLEASE HELP!

  60. My name is molly and I am 16 years old. I would tell you my story from the main beginning but that would take to long so I will cut things short…

I live with my aunt and uncle, who has now adopted us, because our grandmother didn't want my brother and I. I have no idea where my mother and father is but my aunt and uncle are like my mom and dad. I am thankful I have them and i wouldn't know what to do if I didn't. They do everything for my brother an I but the reason I need your help is because they deserve something like this. The house is falling apart around them and they can't do anything about it. They have no money to fix it up and I can't get a job and neither can my brother, or we would have helped out. The only time we do get money to fix it is when the income comes in but we still don't have enough. Even if we did no one can fix anything the NEEDS to be fixed because my uncle has several bulging disks in his back and my moms back is bad and so is my paws(moms dad). The ceiling in my bedroom is leaking and the second living room is leaking too. I had some kind of mold in my room where it leaked. It is leaking around my light also. I can't use my closet at all so I had to put my things in totes. There are holes around the house that if you stepped in them you would fall all the way through. Under the sink is falling apart and we had to put a thick board under the fridge so it wouldn't fall through. The lights in the kitchen stopped working after sparks flew out of the switch. My uncle temporarily fixed it but I'm afraid it might catch fire. However, my aunt has had two types of cancer and is free from them both but is scared she has cancer again because she found lumps. She is loving, caring and the best mother I know and I just wanted to give her something she deserves. I want to ease her from all her worry's from the house to piled high bills to her mom and dad. I just want to give her one less thing to worry about. I know you probably are tired from reading everyone else's story's but if your reading this now I want to thank you for your time. I hope you can help me. They both desperately need this.

    Sincerely,
    Molly Dotson

  61. In 2002, my grandfather passed away leaving behind my grandmother and their four bedroom home he built by himself with his bare hands. After living there for a year after his death she was convinced by family to sell it and move into something smaller which she did. For her last years with us, she was heartbroken that she had made that decision. The home had originally been left to my parents when my grampa passed given they had lived there too for many years and had poured a lot into the house as well. Long story short, the woman who bought it did not take care of it at all. When she was forclosed someone else bought it and renovated it. The next buyer has since abandoned it and it is tearing us up, so afraid that my grandfather's home could be demolished down the near future given it isn't being taken care of. My parents, myself my husband and our two kids would love to buy it and share the property together like it was supposed to be, but the costs involved are just too extravagant. We are hoping we can be chosen so that my grandfather's hard work and beautiful home can come back to those who love it so very very much.

  62. Hi my name is cara and I have the most amazing sister ever! She has been there for me through everything even through all of her trials! It all started about 5 years ago when her 3rd little girl was born with a birth defect in her throat and for about 10 months that precious little girl was aspirating everything she ate and had to have a feeding tube and was constantly in the hospital. 2 years ago my sister was so excited to welcome her 4th little princess into their family well when she was about 5 months pregnant she found out that she had thyroid cancer but had to wait until she had the baby to fix it. She had the baby in November 2013 and two weeks latee had to have surgery to have half of her thyroid removed and has been put on medicine to try to balance out her levels. Well turns out a month after her surgery her little baby gets terribly sick and ends up in the E.R. At primary childrens hospital and they tell her that her baby was also born with a birth defect of a duplicated kidney system. Well now a year later and E.R. visits every month they are now getting ready to have surgery in three weeks. My sister has also just went to the doctor and has been told there are now lumps on the other side and is worried the cancer is back. If this is the case she will have to have surgery and radiation and won't be able to be around her family and take care of her little one. Through l all if this her husband has been her rock and has worked three jobs including being the county assesor and also been in charge of the towns recreational basketball season to try and support his family. They have been going through so much for so many years and have been trying to sell their house for over a year now and I would love for them to be able to be nominated they have worked so hard to still teach their children and to be the best parents ever! They are amazing!!

  63. Hi My name is Angie Severns and I am a two time cancer survivor and I have had a lot of surgeries on leg from breaking multiple times over the years. The moral of the story is I would like to do something special for my parents. Are house is twenty year old or so. My parents are hard working and my dad has health issues and a lack of energy. My parents have always been there for me and been my rock. Now I would like to see something nice done for them. They work hard and have sacrificed for me. As years go by more and more needs to be done to this house and with a lack of money, time and energy that is hard to do. So this would be a complete blessing and surprise to them and that is why they are deserving of this.

    Sincerely,
    Angie Severns

  65. Hi my name is Jenn and I am writing this regarding my (ex) inlaws. Strange request I am sure but one that is worth hearing. I was married to my ex husband for 10 yrs and together for 15 yrs, so needless to say I was with this family a long time. We have been divorced for 10 yrs now and I haven't kept close contact with my in laws from this side. I did have nieces and a nephew, which was very hard to let go of. My children have remained very close with their cousins and see them almost daily.
On Feb. 12, my niece Annalise ( 11 yrs ) went to see the Dr regarding a pain in her back and was immediately taken for emergency surgery to remove her entire left kidney. The kidney was completely taken over with a large cancerous mass ( size of an orange). The entire family has been instantly shocked and shaken with this horrific diagnosis.
Annalise Fischer is your above average athlete, daughter and friend . This unbeknowingly healthy little girl was headed for scholarships beyond imagination!!! She excelled in softball and basketball to name a few sports. This young lady at 11 yrs old stands a tall 5'10 and has a heart even bigger. Her home town of Simi Valley has already pulled together to help donate funds and prayers for her. Annalise comes from an extremely hardworking dad that is the foreman of a construction company which has been hit hard with the economy and left them extremely tight on funds before this illness betrayed their lives. She also lives with her mom and sister and brother. Their home is very small and not compliant with the needs this little girl will need to sustain a healthy life she will so badly need. The family started an addition to their home and family of 5 living in a 1000 sq ft home which was never completed due to money not being available. They have a wonderfully large 1/2- 3/4 acre lot. Their home is a 2 bedroom and they are desperately needing the room and cleanliness for this little girls health. I realize that this is probably not your average request and I know there are so many others just as deserving as she.I love and care for these kids with all I am. I myself, can do nothing for them but send off my prayers in hopes that some will be heard and others gracefully answered. All that I know is that at the end of the day my kids are sleeping peacefully in their beds, healthy and safe. I cannot bear to sit here and not try to at least do something for this family that I had once called my very own. These are good hard working people whose lives were devastatingly changed in the blink of an eye. If there could be anything to make it better I would want that in a second… and if it cannot be made better medically as an outcome… Maybe it can be made better while they have time with her. Time that is so precious and so minimal and crucial. A new home would give this family that time and ability to care for her as her Dr.'s see needed. I do not know if you do backgrounds on people or go and hear their story from a few others… If so I truly hope you take a second glance and listen to this one. I cannot convey with words the deserving people behind this request, especially one little girl. I want her to know she is worth everything. Her life and health and family and friends are willing to put it all out there for her and won't stop trying because we don't want her to stop either. I need this little girl to hold steadfast to the fight she has ahead of her and to not look back. I need your help,to build that home this family so desperately needs. I need your help to keep this family from breaking anymore than they already have. I need your help. Thank you with all I am. All my love Annalise, (Aunt) Jenn

  66. Hello my name is Tim Schott. I'm writing to you today because I don't know where else to turn. I'm a very proud person so this is difficult. This is my family's situation. My wife of 24 years was stricken with primary progressive multiple sclerosis 9 to 10 years ago which has gotten much worse. Then on September 25 our lives were changed maybe forever, our 22 year old daughter Haylie was hit by a 6 time drunk driver with no insurance. She is currently a quadriplegic. To make matters worse if that is possible, we currently live in a quad level home. We desperately need a single level home for my wife and daughter to lead a more handicap accessible life. I also have a 14 year old daughter Macie who is a tremendous help to me in taking care of them which as you can imagine, can be very overwhelming. Thank you for listening sincerely, Timothy Schott

  67. Hi, my name is Melissa I would like to nominate my parents. They were doing foster care helping provide a home for dear children that needed a good home and now they are taking care of my sister who had a severe head and brain injury. They just give of themselves to help others and have a home they've had for going on 30 years that needs a lot of updating/renovating. Thanks for your consideration for this opportunity to return a deed to them. God bless

  68. My name is Alana Womack. I am a newly divorced, disabled mother of two teenage girl. My oldest has learning disabilities and is often picked on because of it. There are six of us in total that live in the small 3/1 home in need of repairs. My mom, 60, is a diabetic. Because of her diabetes she has lost the sight in one eye. She suffered several strokes and is now unstable on her feet. My sister is also disabled. She has scar tissue on both her eyes that has caused her to retire. She has an 8 year old daughter that is very smart. I am there eyes. I take them to appointments and other things. I suffer from a buldging disk in my lower back and am battling depression, but throughout it all we are blessed to have one another. I love my family. We work well together. Having this life changing blessing placed before us is a dream come true. The security in knowing we have a home that fits us…our needs. God is so good, and I know he has something big instore for us.

  69. Hello! My story is a little unusual as I am applying for my mom. She is retired after 40 years as a computer programmer. My mom is my best friend, my strength, and an integral part of my life. I became a widow at age 27, when our baby girl was just six months old. My world was shattered, my soul broken. For the next few years, my family helped me through, supported, encouraged and were just plain there for me. Two years after my husband passed, I moved to NW Ohio to be closer to my family. My mom again helped me, both financially and emotionally. I went back to college, and three years ago, I earned my license as an EMT and joined the Lyons Royalton Fire Department. Along with being a volunteer, I was hired on as a full time EMT two years ago. My mom is now on the fire department auxiliary and lends a helping hand for all fund raisers and events. My mom's other passion is her dog Huck. He is a rescue, and she worked hard with him for a year to become a certified therapy dog. They now visit schools, nursing homes, and hospitals, which she absolutely loves. My mom recently was able to pay off her house after many years, and a bathroom, kitchen, and living room renovation were begun. Unfortunately, after everything was torn apart in their home, my dad fell ill to lymphoma and went through a full course of chemotherapy. Amazingly, despite being stage 4, he recovered. Recently, my dad traveled to PA to be with his sister after her husband passed away. While caring for her and her farm, he was badly burned while fixing a furnace. He received 3rd degree burns on his entire leg, and 2nd degree on his hands. My mom and I traveled to see him, but he is currently still in PA to recover and continue trying to care for his sister. In conclusion, I am writing because I want to do something wonderful for my family. I want to give back at least a little of what my mom and family have done for me over the past 7 years. My parents have little money left to finish any of the repairs needed to their home. My dream for them is just to have a home that is liveable and convenient for them. I would be beyond grateful to have help making this happen for them!

  70. Hello, my name is Christina everyone calls me Nicki. I am a mother of 3 and have a wonderful loving husband named Tyson. And that is why I am writing you today because he has done so much for our family and sacrificed everything.
I am going to tell you a little bit about our life,
in 2005 my mother adopted her grandson (my nephew) for he was in a bad situation, she also got very sick and so I took on the responsibility of raising him. in 2009 my mother got very sick and she passed away, I was to young to adopt my nephew, so we went and lived with my father and he adopted my Nephew. His name is Mason James, that is when I realized I had to get my educated somewhere because I wasn't able to finish high school because I took care of Mason all day. so I decided to go to job corps to get an education and that is where I met my Husband . Tyson graduated before I did and he decided to live at my house an help my father who was 72 raise my nephew. I graduated in 2011 and 2011 is when I got married, we had our first son in 2012 and it was not an easy pregnancy, for medical reason we had to travel out of town all the time, but well worth it. in 2012 my father found out he had cancer in his neck, it was the longest 2 1/2 years of my life, of standing by his side while he is fighting cancer. They got ride of the cancer in his neck to only find out it spread to his lungs, and then to his tongue and throat. It was the worst time to only know my father was fighting to live to only know it was certain he was going to die, my husband helped me take care of my father, while I was pregnant with our second child. we also were taking care of my husbands mother who is a paraplegic. while my husband got laid off from his construction job, I was still working as a CNA. our lives got very stressful and very sad for a long time. We demolition a lot of our house to make is handicapped accessible, and we only had enough money for a few things, and just enough to get by. one thing we couldn't get too was the bathroom so it is unfinished with no shower or much of anything. and our kitchen. my father passed away at the end of 2014, That is when I adopted my nephew and my dad gave the house to our family. my father built this house, and it is a gorgeous big house but he had a small budget so didn't spend much on the inside and my husband and I have been slowly trying to fix it up like buy a kitchen cabinet here or a sink faucet, or a refrigerator. it had been really tough with money because of my husband getting laid off and I haven't been able to work due to medical reason and now I'm on maternity leave, so we are at a very rough spot and my husband has been trying to put his heart into that house for me, because he knows how much it means to me, but to have so many things happen for so long his hope is very small and I can see that and it hurts to see my husband like this like he feels like he is failing his family, he just wants us to have nice things for once, we got this gorgeous house, an acre of land, but no money to fix it up and put an actual kitchen in it or bathroom. I would love for my family to win the makeover home edition for my husband and family to show them good things do happen to people who keep on smiling through hell and high water.

Ps. our house is on an acre in a half of land and a 3 bedroom 1 master bedroom 1 in a half bath we live right next to a gorgeous creek

Thank you for letting me share my story.

    The Burningham Family

  71. I am writing this in regards to my mother and father, a while back we were in tough times and went through bankruptcy and it was heart braking for them, as they had to explain it to us as two teenagers wondering why we had to take lunch or write checks over in order to get lunch, now we are 20 going on 21 and we do everything we can to help them out, i the son work 40 plus hours a week and try and help all that i can, just recently around November 29th my father was taken by ambulance to er due to 3 bulging disc in his back witch put him off work for 6 weeks, following that the Sunday before Christmas my mother had a heart attack and was also rushed to trauma center at hospital where they had to put a stint in to save her. i have helped to try and pay the bills but every month we are getting further behind and it kills me i cant help anymore then i do. tonight i have found out we are once again 5 months behind in the house payment, i would like to help them more in anyway possible i feel that this would be a dream come true, especially since there are many issues with our house as the Michigan basement wall is caving in 2 to 3 inches in the center and the fire place push the garage away from the house.

  72. I know a lady in Nederland,Texas whose body is scared by a tragic fire from a young age. She never allowed that from her love for helping others.l know I could never do what she has done despite what I consider a handicap, she doesn't. Recently she suffered a stroke and could no longer work at the hospital. And even despite that has been taking care of her sister's mother in law to make ends meet. I cut her yard for free now because there is no way I can take money I know she needs. Her little house is falling down around her and I want to.help but I'm a disabled vet myself and can only do so much. Please. Help. Larry. God bless

  75. Hi. I am a single mother of two. I bought a home in a small town after my divorce. It has great potential however, the upstairs is unfinished, and there are other repairs needed that I can't afford and are unable to do. This home could be beautiful with just a little work. I would love to see it completed before my daughter graduates high school as she would love to have the upstairs as her special space.
