  1. When i was around 5 we were forced out of our home. So we had to stay with my grandpa (dads parents) we lived there not even a year until we had to leave there. So we went to live with my mom's parent's. We lived there quite sometime. But it was getting to hard for my grandmother. So we had to find somewhere else to live. But at the time my dad was the only one that was working. We were living off of like around $300 every two weeks. How are we going to find somewhere to live? Well my moms aunt had an OLD house and she let us have it only if we paid the over due taxes. There was a time where my dad had to ask his boss for i think it was $500 bc if we didnt pay that we were going to lose the house. Well we have been paying the taxes, which made us have to put fixxing the house on pause. Well after 2 years There was a real bad strom it was heavy rain and even softball size hail. Well the house itself is old so now the house has real damages. The roof is about to cave in,the plumbing stinks, no hot water so in the winter we have to boil water on the stove and use a cup to pour on our head if we want to take a hot shower. Every time it rains it leaks a lot, it might as well as be raining inside. Haha. There is no way this house is going to hold up any longer. Well about 3 years ago my father had lost his job and it was in the winter we had to barrow a generator to keep the house warm. We even had to put plastic wrap to section off the house bc it was so cold, we all slept in the living room. There were 6 people in the household at the time. But since my dad had been laid off the only other alternatives was for my mom to get a job. She started to work at mcdonalds, which doesnt pay ever well. But as the years went on we kept having to wait on our house to be fixed. I get sad because all the other houses that live by us are getting fixed and ours is the one that looks like noone has lived in it in decades. In the morning the bus passes our house and my heart drops to my stomach and im hoping that the other kids are not looking at my house..

When he became took sick and feble I quit my job and stay home and took care of him till he died. I learned so much and knew this was my life calling after taking care of him. I wanted to help any senior I could. I wanted to give them a real home to live in and take care of them till the "Angels close their eyes". That is when I created Guardian angel and I've been doing this for 8 yrs. It's heart breaking I can't give them a better place to live in. I really need walk in showers for them. I need a deck they can walk straight out on with a walker or wheel chair. So many things need improvements. My bedroom is cram full with my office & bedroom all in one. They need a nice ramp on the front of the house. I give them a real loving home, but it would be nice to have things that would make it easier for them! My first 5 yrs. I took all hospice patients! It's was a real life changing experience for me. I don't need anything for myself! I am so blessed to be able to help all the wonderful seniors I have. It has made my life feel so rewarded and complete. I know I was put on this earth to do this!! So if I was picked for this help, it would really be helping so many others!!! I would so appreciate you helping us here! I just can't afford to do it all. Thank you kindly for listening to my story.

  6. I am buried in my own home. I have given up all my personal space to include my grandchildren into my household whom I have been raising for the past 3 years exclusively by myself. I have also re-arranged the overcrowded space to include my son who recent went through an extreme emotional breakdown. During these processes,my husband was undergoing testing and treatment and surgeries for a health issue that has been hard to treat and we have lost income due to my becoming disabled. I no longer have the income to cover my expenses and have exhausted all lines of credit after we went through a successful chapter 7 during the height of our losing income. Our grand children came into our home around this time and because of the gaps of income due to my husbands hospitalizations we had no choice but to gain lines of credit just to keep food on the table and to keep the children clothed and maintain the living expenses in our home. We do not receive any support from the parents in a regular basis. There was a time when we did receive some, but that was for only for a few months. During these issues we also had to replace the central cooling unit in our home, replace a transmission in a vehicle that we purchased with our income tax return because it went out weeks after purchase. Our cars are old, we replaced a 2001 car with a 2001 car. We do not purchase anything for ourselves, only needs and bills. I have not clothes to wear and the kids are growing so fast and have needs as well. Our home is falling apart. The carpets are worn and the doors are leaking. The roof is slowly dying and there is something that needs fixing all the time but we lack the funds and definately the know how. My husband does not know how to fix anything and therefore anything we have fixed by hand, needs fixing over and over. We are dealing with such a small area for raising children and we are in the time or our lives when we should be reaping the rewards of all our hard work but are now run dry of our retirement and savings because we were given the task of taking on a family while we were dealing with the re arrangement of our changing lives. I do not know what to do anymore. I am living out of totes in my closet so that the others may have their own space. I have to dig just to find clothes I am lost in my own home. I need help so bad that I feel like I either find a way to fix my issues or I just give up.

  8. I would like to nominate my "bonus" grandfather. He's recently living in a trailer where the floors are completely falling in. He's lived on the property for 20+ years. He's been on disability for several years so his income hasn't been much. My grandmother started getting really sick so instead of working on the house he spent his time taking care of her and his granddaughter he adoted at a young ago. We lost her a month ago and his disability check went down so now he still can't afford to fix the floors or the trailer at all. Please help us before we have no where to even walk!

  9. My name is Gina, I'm a recently widowed mom of a special needs child. We've inherited a home owned by my late husband's grandma, the home was built around 1928-1930. It and the property it sits on have been neglected for several years. Everything in this house needs fixed or replaced. I can't afford to fix it all, or freelance the home, as we are trying to live on less than six hundred a month while I actively search for a steady job. We have put in a lot of work on the house and property already, trying to get things cleaned up, and while it's better than it was, honestly it could be on hoarders or something. There's so much that needs done, and I'm severely limited on what I can do because of my own health issues.
    Thank you.

  10. I feel embarrassed to even ask. So many amazing people needing help. Here is my story in a nut shell. My name is Jennifer.. I am referred to as Ethan. I have been homeless before and was able to get back on my feet. Until I became sick. I developed a severe case of Graves Disease. I am now on disability. I am married to a remarkable man who has accepted me for who I am . We have a one year old girl and an amazing eight year old girl who has nonverbal autism. We were forced to live in a motel for a year. Struggling to find a home. We can't have our oldest daughter live with us because the trailer we are paying on (barely able to pay on) isn't up to code. It's breaking our hearts that we aren't together as a family. The trailer is in bad condition but has potential. We just don't have the funds. With bills and medical care. If you can help.. I would be forever in your debt. I know so many deserve this. Bless you all for what you do!

  11. Hello, my name is Sara. I'm 40 years old and have tried for years to have my own home. We currently rent a house for 8 years now and have the option to buy it but we have struggled with medical bills and student loans, which was made even harder when my daughter 7 weeks early and spending a year out of work. On top of that I've always taken in others that had no place to go until they could get back on their feet again. My kids' ages are spread out and need their own rooms but can't afford a bigger house either. When looking into the house we currently live in the electrical is very old, the walls and ceilings are cracked, bad ventilation, and mold from top to bottom in the 1 bathroom that everyone shares, and there's a foul smell coming from the pipes in the basement. I've always wanted to give back to family for helping me out and members of the community as there are many here who need it, but alas I'm heartbroken when I can't…..I can't even help myself with a family of 5 working 2 plus jobs and my husband works too yet we just can't seem to get anywhere but deeper in debt. I've watched the show since it first started and have always wished I could be yelling to "MOVE THAT BUS!" Please, anything would help. I'd love to be able to continue taking in others or at least have a healthy home worth living in within our budget. Thank you and God bless.

  12. Hello, my name is Christina Bonner and I am having the worst luck , my home is falling apart and I am disabled and I have 2 mentally disabled young adults. I brought this home for the kids when there parents died in 2004 thinking this would be ok. I have no family to help . I could really use your help. I feel lost and with no hope. my income is my disability check and if it gets any lower it would be hard to find. I have worked since I was 16 years old and worked my way through college. my life went south when I had my accident in 2004 and then my brother and my sister-in-law died in 2004 and no one wanted the children at that time because of there disability. 13. Hi my name is Thalia Leon. I'm a 16 year old girl who's currently living with my single mother, legally blind grandmother and 2 siblings. My mom is a low income single parent of 4 (oldest moved away) whom works 2 jobs and lives off welfare to support us. She was just recently told from the doctors that there is a lump on her chest and that she has a very high risk of cancer. My grandma who has glacoma needs help with almost everything. It is a struggle helping her around the house and up and down steps on a daily basis. Our steps to the downstairs are horrible. Very steep and even missing some steps. She needs to be in a more accessible house and we do not have the money to give that to her. My little brother who is now 5 has 3 tumors 1 on the side of his face and 2 on his back. Because of that it effects him dearly. He cannot function nor grow as a normal 5 year old. He has trouble with his walking, running, jumping etc. he's been doing physical therapy. He's also adhd active and throws horrible temper tantrums. He needs a home that fits him. Our house is pretty old. My dad had bought it for us over 20+ years ago as a fixer upper. While my dad was fixing it up he got deported to Mexico and left us with a unfinished house. The downstairs is all dirt hardly any flooring. The walls are caving and cracking. There's mold on the flooring in the bathroom. The roof leaks. And not to mention we live right next to a river that happens to flood quite often so we always have to have a sandbag wall surrounding our home. We really need this I beg you help us out here please contact me

  18. Hello. I guess my nomination would be for my husband. Over the years he has worked so hard since the age of 17. We have raised 7 children, 4 of our own and 3 after our sister passed away. They are all grown now with babies of their own. In that same few years my husband also lost his only brother and his father. He is the most giving, loving and hard working man I know. I adore him. Not only for his hard work but his heart and love towards strangers and really everyone. Over the years we have had many many people stay in our home as they sought to be free from addiction and a lifestyle of homelessness and lonliness. My husband has never said 'no' to anyone who needed a bed or food. Today as I write this, he is outside trying to maintain the property and home we have rented for over 8 years now from his sister in law. Recently she offered to let us buy in the next 2 years. The home is old, but beautiful because we live with gratitude. My heart aches for all the work he has to do, and if we choose to buy, the roof, termites and mold will linger. There are unfinished bathrooms with no shower in one, and the other is molded from the inside of the wall. Its a hard decision, but also a lot of work involved to make it a place of rest for his retiring years. My heart for my husband of 27 years aches to not be able to give him what he is deserving of. Peace, rest and not have to worry about termites, mold or a huge piece of property to maintain in his older years. This home would be a beautiful makeover but not only that, it would be a life long gift to my husband so that his hands and feet would be able to enjoy his grandchildren instead of consistently working on the home trying to fix things that really can not be fixed but need replaced. Thank you for your consideration of honoring him. He is truly a beautiful man with a golden heart for all he meets. My husband and my best friend is honored by many. Anyone who knows him would say the same. All of his hard work has payed off through our 14 grandbabies and one on the way. A beautiful legacy in the making….Blessings <3

  21. Hi, my name is Savannah and I'm asking help for my parents. My mom has been working for a software company for almost 30 years now and is now at a point of having to find a new job. My father has owned his own landscaping company for 5+ years and did really well for about 3 or so years and got laid off of a property that paid most of his salary and he's never been able to make that up since. I was in early high school then and we had to cut back on a lot of spending at that point. They've always made sure me and my brother had everything we needed and wanted no matter what, even if that meant more struggle financially for them. At 19, I had my son right out of high school and my parents took my (now) husband and I in and is allowing us to live with them until we can get on our feet and buy our own place. My parents bought their house in '91 and have never moved, but since then, especially recently, the house is starting to fall apart. We need a new AC, the siding on the house is aging and wearing down, the carpet is falling apart and they can't seem to finally afford hardwood because of other expenses. My parents have bi-annual garage sales to hopefully raise enough money for at least something on their to-do list, but it never does much. My father has had his (approx.) 15th surgery and the most recent one was a full hip replacement February of 2015 (2 weeks after my son was born). He's never gotten to perfect after the surgery and everyone can tell it is really effecting his work as a landscaper. My husband and I try to help at least twice a week doing lawns with him or for him that way it's easier on him physically, but sometimes my school and his job get in the way of that. My parents never fail to always watch my son when we need them to and always help out if we can't buy something for him or ourselves due to lack of money. They have done so much for my family and theirs and knowing that multiple things are falling apart and the house needs to be revamped and they can't afford it hurts my heart because I couldn't offer money even if I tried. I just want to do something for them that would not only lift their spirit's, but help them out financially in more ways than I could possibly imagine.

  23. Dear Extreme Home make over, I am righting you today to ask for help. Our family has been through so much. My husband works so hard for us. We have four children and our 21/2 year old son has been diagnosed with Autism. I have had to quite my job to stay home and take care of him. Our home is simply not safe for him I take him to therapy's four times a week. He is so sweet and loving this would be so amazing if you can help us. I have also been so sick this year and almost died for going septic. I develope kidney stones on a monthly basis. I would be so greatful to know that my family is taken care of if something does happen to me. I love my family so very much and work so hard for them every single day. I know this would help my husband's stress go down so much he works as hard as he can and picks up any over time he can. We live pay check to check just to pay the bills we don't have enough money left over to pay for fix ups on our home. We want so badly to make our home safe for our son Ryker he deserves this so much and it hurts that we can't provide him with the safety that he need.
I am begging you from the bottom of my heart to please pick our family for your home make over.

  24. Me and my family of 4 live in a 2 bedroom appartment. Approximately 800 square feet. We have started building a home as we can afford it. While in the process just last week our beautiful home was infested with bats. It's located on a beautiful salmon River in Labrador. Where our great grandparents both lived. We really love this place and would like to get some help. The bats infested the ceiling and I had to smoke them out. Now we have the smell of smoke and bat feises. I had to tear down a lot of the inside. We just feel that we are going backwards thanks to these bats and want to give up. We love spending time up there fishing for Char sea trout and salmon during the summer months and now that our 3 years spent on this place has been heading backwards we are read to give up. We need your help ABC to make things right.

  25. We are a family of 5. A 15,12 and 2 year old along with my husband and I. My husband has had cancer 4 times and was recently diagnosed with epilepsy. He was laid off from his job of 14 years because of his illness. So I was left to try and make ends meet with just my salary. The roof is falling in on one part of our home and we have a tarp on top of the house to keep the rain from coming inside. Our house is over 100 years old so it could use a tremendous makeover. We would be so thankful for the help. Thank you!

  26. Gerald J. Ryan Outreach Center
    1434 Straight Park
    Wyandanch, New York, 11798

    To whom it may concern,

THIS IS A PERFECT PROJECT FOR EXTREME MAKEOVER!!!! WHAT IS BETTER THAN TO HELP A POOR COMMUNITY OUTREACH CENTER!!!

With great pleasure and dedication, I nominate the Gerald J. Ryan Outreach Center in Wyandanch (501c3) to be selected for an Extreme Makeover. When I began volunteering in 2005, the center was located in a garage and attached trailer. An arsonist burned the center down. The center moved into two trailers with two dumpsters. In 2013, the center moved into a prefab building. The story continues…

Now at the helm of this community outreach center is Ms. Noelle Campbell. She is the Executive Director. Her center staff "provides food, clothing and support services to families and children in need on Long Island." The Wyandanch community is low income and comprised of a population primarily of African-Americans, Hispanics and Haitians. The Center has a "long-standing after-school program and a summer camp program for children in grades K thru 8." The Center "transforms lives of people to break the cycle of poverty so that lives of despair become lives of hope.” The center alone assists over 500 family units of 1,000 individuals monthly with numbers continually rising in our most difficult economic times.

Through Ms. Campbell’s incredible direction, with over 35 volunteers and 5 staff members, she and this fierce group of people reach to the highest of heights for these unfortunate human beings to make their lives so much better. They push the envelope in many phenomenally tireless ways in searching for ways to find solutions. With constant government cutbacks, a continually limiting budget, through compassion and hard work, they makes magic happen. Ms. Campbell found a connection with businessperson who creates ways for items to be displayed in stores. When those items are no longer needed, they are sent to Noelle to distribute to clients. As a volunteer, I often see her on the telephone trying to find the additional money and resources to solve yet another problem. There isn’t an idea for more resources that is not overlooked for the clients. But it ‘s not only their drive to provide to meet their needs, at the annual Thanksgiving, Christmas gift/toy basket and Spring/Easter events, the staff is always greeting people with their smiles, warm hugs and genuine concern.

Imagine what they could do with more space..
    An organizational expert…
2nd floor on their building…A NEW BUILDING!!
Imagine how many more people they could help!

Thank you so much for considering selecting the Gerald J. Ryan Outreach Center for assistance. I tried mailing to your address several photos and a DVD showing the great need for your assistance but it was returned to me. I certainly can forward additional information upon your request. I so look forward to hearing from you !!!!

    Sincerely yours,
    Dinah Raful

  28. My name is Jessica Sears. I live with my 71 year old grandmother, in.which I might add, is the kindest woman In have ever known. She was an OB nurse for 30 years. Delivering babies was her passion. About 12 Yeats ago, she had a major stroke that led her to quit her career because she could no longer walk or talk. She was in the hospital for 9 months and was on the verge of death. She has made a semi-full recovery but can't get around very well and has short term memory loss. For the past 5 years I have taken care of her seeing as she cannot cook for herself and I fear she will have an accident and fall and not be able to get up when I am not around (aka at work.) I work at a gas station making minimum wage and still manage to barely get by with bills. We do not receive food stamps, we are not on welfare. I am working 50 hours just to make ends meet for me and her. Last July 2015, we encountered a horrendous bed bug infestation that led us to throwing out all of our furniture, including couches, chairs, even beds and ripping up our carpets. To get rid of the problem, we hired a "pest control worker" who will not be named, and poisoned our whole house. Again, this was back in July of 2015 and our house is saturated in the smell of poison. It is killing my grandmother. She is slowing being poisoned by this stuff that was supposed to rid our house of bed bugs. Along with that, we are constantly getting water leaks from our bathtub, kitchen faucets, our toilet and our outside faucets. I know the inside of our walls must have some sort of black mold because we are constantly feeling ill. My grandmother worked her whole life and now has to sit in a house that is slowing killing her. Please help her. She deserves something to be proud of with how hard she has worked all of these years but no longer can't. God bless. – Jessica

  29. There is this family I know, I have been trying to get them to apply for your show. This Young man has been through alot, more than most people care to look at. He lost his brothers and sisters at a young age when they all were stripped away from their parents. Im not sure how long he was in foster care but I do know he was abused severly and tossed out like garbage by most homes. He got to see some of his siblings in the last couple years, he said it was the first time in twenty yrs they had been together. Well all grown up now he has a family of his own, married into three children, and has one of his own and one on the way. He lost most of the use of his hands a couple yrs ago. He had to give up his job and have surgery. Im not sure what he is going to do about his mortgage but I see his struggle to feed and clothe those babbies every month, I see him cry and stress and find success every time. But these days he seems lost, his father in law and mother in law tried to hurt his children, and he found out the hard way that his father in law was arrested for the same things his bio dad was. With the loss of more family and the pain of dealing with a pedifile trying to hurt his children is just killing this guy. He has always been the first to help people move or to stop and fix a tire, I personaly have sat next to a soaking wet hitchiker because he couldnt let him walk in the rain. This man has never let me or anyone down without giving it all his heart and soul before hand, and has always done his best to bring a smile to your face. His home needs repair, he was doing it actively before the carpol tunnell syndrome. But now his oncome doesnt even cover the bills none the less paying for fix its all over his home. This guys kids love thier him, and he loves them dearly. But he needs our help, he needs a miracle. Please make this man feel like all of it really does pay off. He keeps saying all I need is retraing and then I can get a job. But how in the world can he juggle that and go to school? He might be hard headed, but he would fall apart in tears and try and give the gift to someone else. Make him take it!!! He needs a home that will last, he needs time to heal.

  31. I want to tell you about my uncle that owns a home that he allows family to stay in when they need somewhere to stay, well another one of my uncles stayed there for years and died of lung cancer last year. Recently I was allowed to move in there after the apartments I lived in decided to evacuate everyone because the are tearing down the property and rebuilding. I was thankful that my uncle allowed me to stay however, the home has a lot of damage. There is severe smoke damage due to the fact that the home heats by oil. I have asthma and I have developed a bad cough since staying here. I think my uncle who stayed here before my have passed away from constantly inhaling the smoke. The roof leaks and the floor is rotted in a lot of places. My dad lives here with me and he recently battled with prostate cancer so I can't depend on him to help me fix the place up, and my uncle who actually owns the home is very sick as well, he is currently going to dialysis three times a week. I really would love for you to help me get this house updated because I think its so great that my uncle has this home that he allows us to stay in, but I don't want what happened to my uncle that passed away happened to me, my 3 children, my father, or anyone else that will need to stay in the future. Please help.

  33. Hi, I would like to say I love this show it helps so many people. I have someone I believe is a amazing and inspiring person and great mother. First off I will start by saying she gives so much to her kids even though grown struggle with health problems. She manages to work more than full time as a nurse at a facility for special needs kids, for the last 12 years and works along with her husband of more than 30 years at the facility. She is like a mother to all of her co-workers, always the strong one and takes on so much I never know how she finds time for herself. Having 2 children with epilepsy is always been her first full time job she has always managed to do both. Just 3 weeks ago all of a sudden her husband passed away. Now she is the kind of person whom is apt to help everyone else and not want anyone to help her, but the fact that her 26 yr old daughter that has epilepsy and is pregnant rents her home and is now left to pick up the pieces. Her home is nice I just believe with a grand baby coming she is going to need more space.

  40. Hi! My name is Neil and I'm from the UK and absolutely love this show, It's a real shame our Television broadcasting companies don't have anything like this here over the water. I am a qualified Kitchen and Bathroom fitter with my own business, wife and 6 Children, Recently I have put my own business on hold to dedicate my time and energy to helping out and a project close to my heart. UK Armed Forces Veterans. We are I the process of a big build, we are looking to renovate an old Barn into a facility aimed to help Veterans from all Forces going through hardship be it PTSD post traumatic stress disorder to anxiety, We are building a Motor repair and restoration garage enabling veterans to gain skills, ease daily pressures and help make like that bit more comfortable. We also have plans to develop inside the already Donated barn complex an information Technology Centre for Re-education giving personnel that have served and left with no viable qualifications a chance for a new start in life, along with a Café/restaurant and a Motorbike restoration garage. As mentioned we have secured a large derelict barn donated to us by a local born Businessman, and that's about it. We are in desperate need for volunteers and donations of all kinds please check out the website for more information http://veteransgarage.co.uk/.
Never would it happen on this show but we would love for this to become a reality and seeing the show just thought I would throw our needs out there to see if we can get any help.

  41. Hi There, My name is Trishana I'm from Durban South Africa, I'm not sure if this is possible but I wish if you guys can visit us in south Africa and make our hopes and dreams come true , I have been praying for a miracle to happen in our lives since I was 5years of age
I will not say that our lives are an extreme mess but as you know the say when one thing falls everything comes crumbling, I feel so sad for my mum because all she wishes for is for a change in the home we live in and for my dad to understand the way she feels he borrows money without us knowing and has debt that he cant pay for and just never listens we are scared that the rate he goes we will end up with no home , everything that falls apart at home is my mum or my fault, my parents are both retired now, I am now the bread winner , I'm grateful for the job I have but there is very little I can do, no one will know what you go through unless you walk in those shoes. There is so much the we need to do in our home but we just cant see anything happen as our ends never meet ever and it depresses me , I applied for a car but was declined because I do not work for a company . I looked at our sealing this morning and I'm afraid that it may collapse due to the geyser leaking .
My humble request is for your help , I'm not praying for a mansion just a simple change so I can take away my mums stress and see a permanent smile on her face . I watch your series on TV and always pray that you guys can visit us too, you are so amazing in the things you do and the way you help people. I will really appreciate.

  46. I'm not sure where to begin… I guess the worst of it began two and a half years ago when my mom died… we live in the countryside about 18 miles out of Berryville Arkansas. My mom was a preschool teacher to the core, she loved kids and dedicated her life to them. She was amazing and her death destroyed us in a lot of ways my dad an acholic who'd been sober something like 20 years began drinking again.. every night… he began smoking again about a year ago… anyway my parents own about a 5 acre stretch of land mostly old broken down trailer houses on the property. They finally had a tiny no bedroom house built around 5 years ago. But as my personal life gets often messed up my sons and I end up on dad's couch or in one of the trailers fairly often. Honestly dad needs the company but not all in one room.. I guess I should explain my personal issues that land me back at dad's.. well I got married in 2010 and he wouldn't allow me to work so when he'd lose his job (it happened a lot) back to mom and dad's we'd go gave birth to both my sons while living on my parents property. Anyway in 2014 my dear sweet mother was 49 and 1 week old when she suddenly died. It was 3am the dogs were going nuts and a strange light woke us up.. then someone was pounding on the door. It was a young paramedic who was looking for "an old woman who fell out of bed and isn't breathing" he told my husband. My husband informed him that my parents (his in-laws) lived behind us but they were not old I yelled from the bedroom that an older woman lived on either of the drives beside us. The paramedic said he'd check my parents around 20 minutes later the EMTs were still outside so I went to the window to see what was going on they were milling around outside so I called to one of them I believe the same one that Knocked on our door. I asked him if they had found the woman and was informed that indeed they had but that they were too late. So I asked him (still not connecting the dots) who it was and was told it was the house behind me. My heart hit the floor my face turned white and I stammered what do you mean that's my mom! I turned to find my husband right behind me, I handed him our 6month old son and called over my shoulder watch the boys as I ran to grab my shoes and my phone that was ringing as dad called to tell me what happened then I ran to him thinking it could not be true it had to be some kind of mistake. But it wasn't she was gone. I thought I couldn't possibly feel a pain greater than that… I was wrong.. so very wrong… mom passed in January, in October I found out I was pregnant again but I fell in November and started bleeding the hospital said it was fine but 2weeks later I was still having problems so I went back it was December 3 when I found out I was having a miscarriage. I have long struggled with depression but never have i wanted to die more. I pressed on for my boys only. My marriage which has never been great was steadily getting worse.. at the end of July I found 7 belt marks on my 4 year old so I left my husband. I spent the next year going from one domestic violence shelter to the next until I got my apartment but I didn't want my kids in school in that town it was a pretty rough neighborhood. So here we are back at dad's but poor dad is a bit cramped up here..

  47. Well there's not really much left of this home. My grandmother has been living in this house for over 32 years. With only one bedroom and a fixed income she is managing things with God on her side. Her son's who lives with her don't have proper rooms to stay in and she always dreamed of having a few extra rooms for her sons and grandchildren who sleeps wherever spot is available on the floor. One of her sons is on oxygen and is cramped in the small area in the house while her other son sleeps on the couch. With a heart of gold and a heart after God she is deserving of such a blessing like this. Her kindness gentleness and humbleness will speak of the great grandmother she is. She always said before she died she want her house remodeled with a bigger kitchen and more rooms. That's one of her dying wishes. I pray my grandmother would be the one in this season of blessings. Thank you.

  49. My mom is an amazing woman who does nothing but contribute to the lives of her loved ones. Even though she's been battling Type 1 Diabetes since she was 10 years old, she's never let her health get in the way of helping others. She frequently gives her tons to family members by cleaning their houses, setting up their holiday decorations, even putting in floors and painting several rooms for people who can't do it themselves. She always was active with the PTA and all of our activities growing up, and would do anything for her 4 kids and grandson even if it's extremely inconvenient for her. I'm asking Extreme Home Makeover to help my mom finish our home that she has been working on for years. The walls have holes in them from our dogs tearing them apart, and numerous parts of our kitchen no longer function due to wiring. She has done nothing but help others who can't help her for her whole life and she deserves to have people give her an amazing gift in return.

  50. Hi,
I am Yulia and I am mother of Autistic child. I want to share my story with you.

Sorry for my newcomer's English and mistakes.
My story is going to be about my experience that l have been living with for 10 years. Don't worry, it will be almost happy end.
So, happily married, good job, nice apartment…. what else does the woman need?
My elder son was born in 2006 in Israel.
Everything seems to be normal in the beginning. Sitting, standing, going, smiling…. almost one year old. Something is wrong, he doesn't respond to his name, doesn't point at objects, doesn't say
any word, walks around the room over and over again, cannot sit down and play….
    – "No, everything is OK” said the family doctor, – "Don't worry, all children are different and develop in their own way. "
I try to stay calm but get more and more concerned with my child’ behaviour and development. I pay attention that he started to be afraid of noises, avoids any connections with other kids and plays a very strange game like rolling the wheels, putting the cars in line, opening and closing the doors and still no words. – "Maybe it's just a stress” said the doctor, "Don't worry!”
2009. Itay is almost 3 years old, we are on the waiting list for assessment to Kids Development Hospital.
The date of assessment came. My husband and I are waiting. Itay is running around the room. I still hope that everything is OK, like doctor said.
    But…
    – "I am sorry" said another doctor.
    " Itay has communication problems"
    " What does it mean?
" It means that you need to be strong, you have Autistic child!!!
"What? But the family doctor said he is OK"!?
Shock, crying… what did I do wrong in this life? What shall I do with this? At that moment I was already pregnant with my second boy. What is going to be with him? Is he going to be healthy?

A lot of questions and no answers.
I don't know how to explain this feeling.

Understanding that you are getting something for all your life. That day I understood that the most important thing in a life is health of our children. You can change everything… job, house, country, even husband but not your child.
After the storm calms down you try to build a new routine. The love wined anger.
I started to search for answers because I didn't believe that there is nothing to do with Autism.

The first link I find is a successful story about an autistic child who was treated with a special diet program – gluten and dairy free. It sounds very difficult to me. Itay doesn't eat anything, only pizza and schnitzel.
Here I would like to mention that Israel is like heaven for Autistic children and their parents.
The government pays subsidy doesn't matter what your income is, all specialized daycares for free. In a daycare there are no more than 8 kids, two teachers and three assistants. All staff have special education and they are very kind and love the kids. Each day each child has a different treatment one by one: speech therapy, occupational therapy, animals therapy and more. Like I told everything is for free. We use all this privilege but it is not enough. We add diet program, massage, animals therapy, nutrition therapies….

After my second baby was born I was forced to quit my job. I was making food for Itay all by myself including bread and almond milk to make sure the food is gluten free. Thanks Google for everything:)
After 2 months we started to see small results. Itay started to sleep all night long, started to eat better, started to be happier. He said his first words and a little bit after first sentences. I will never forget this day when I picked up Itay from the daycare and I wanted to clean his shoes from sand like we used to do every day but all of a sudden I heard:
"Mama, we didn't go outside today because it was too hot" he meant that there was no sand in his shoes. My first tears of happiness!!! Day after day he got better.

We spent all our savings for this but it was worth it.

In 2013 we moved from Israel to Canada and the reason was ongoing wars. Every half a year we were hearing alarms and were hiding in a bomb shelter. It did bad to Itay and to all our family.
So, now we live in Canada in Newmarket and I love this country and this city. We are trying to build a new life here.
At present Itay is going to regular school and even has friends. We continue doing what was started in Israel. We go to speech therapy, yoga, swimming, gymnastic. Itay is sill Autistic but very high functioning. I try to prepare him to this life, I want him to be independent and happy.

We bought our house two years ago. We love it but it is not like a dream house. It old, carpets, creaking floors, minimum furnishers.
I want to say a big thank you to my wonderful supporting husband, to all those people who were supporting us all the way and thank you for reading my story and maybe you can help us build our dream house.

  51. My name is Rosaria. My parents bought a fixer upper when I was a little girl. I moved to they city and started a family. My husband and I have one son and would like to have one more child. My husband has Multiple Sclerosis since 2009. We have always raised money for MS Climb to the Top for the past four years. This year was the first year we didn't climb to the top of Rockefeller Center. We just had our first baby and we moved to Westchester because my mom was diagnose with stage three Ovarian Cancer. My mother is fighting Cancer and currently doing well. I went on maternity leave and didn't return back to work. I am helping my mother with all her hospital and doctors appointment. My family moved back into my father's house that needed a lot of fixing. I felt like everything was falling a part and we just don't have enough room for everything and all the babies things. The basement is had Multiple small leaks. My 71 year old father paid to get someone to fix it but it's still not fixed correctly. The only bathroom has a leak as well. I am afraid that the leak with cause more damage to the foundation. When I looked at the basement, you can see the wood is getting damage from the leak. I can't count how many times we have had leaks in the basement. The foundation of this house wasn't done correctly. We don't even use the basement anymore. My father works 24/7 to buy this house when I was a little girl. He just turned 71 and still working and loves helping others. It very sad that he says, he hates this house and he has spent so much money trying to fix it. The house doesn't have great storage space, the kitchen needs a little work, and if the half bathroom in the basement could finally be done. If you can please help my family so my father could finally say, he loves the house. I would be so grateful! My husband had Multiple Sclerosis you never know when you're going to have another attack, so I would like the house to be comfortable for him as well. He recently just had another attack that affected his arms and made his legs weak. I would like to make a ramp to the house as well, just in case we ever need it in the future. Please help my family. Have a blessed day. Take care. Xoxo

  52. Hi my name is Cheyenne Wright I was hoping that you and you're team could build a new house for my family. We love watching you're show we live in Odessa TX

  53. I am here today t0 ask for help with my family's house. I am 15 and I have two siblings one is 10 and the other is 1. Then there is my mom and dad. My dad does power and my mom lost her job when she got pregnat with my brother. adding On to of losing her job i got dignosed with a blood cloting disorder that my mom has so i have many doctors apointments we have to pay for. Plus me my sister and my mom Have asthma so thats even more doctora payments. Then around the time we got our house i broke my arm and had to have emergency surgery, so basiclly we pay so many doctors bills that we dont have any money really left over for anything. My great grandmother signed her house over to my parents a few years ago it was terribly messes up. The power was put in wrong, the floors were falling in, the roof was leaking, and it was badly infested with bugs and creatures, so my dad gutted the whole place. Well he gutted it before he had to switch jobs and start working in viginia any where from 4-7 days a week. With him working in virginia we have to pay for a hotel for him and all his food for ther plus he doesn't really get to fix the house , so now our family of 5 has began to stay in a one room camper or staying with family which is kinda difficult with a one year old brother. Anytime my dad is home he worls from sun up to sun down on the house and has been for three years now and it is getting harder and harder since I am in high school it cost a little more because I am in marching band and involved in my comunity. With me doing all that I am having to get a job in september when my birthday gets here so I can help pay for things around here because with us not having anything in the house there is no power so we are having to spend right at $400 every month on gas for the generator my grandparents ts gave us so we could have power in the camper. Speaking of the generator it is a few years old so it is beginning to not work so well once it stops we don't have any power. Basically all I am asking is for help for my family because with all this going on it is beginning to tear our family apart my mom has threatened to leave my dad so many times because they always fight over money and trying to figure out how to fix our house. Basically all I am asking for is for help for my family because it gets harder and harder each day we r in this camper. Please and thank you

  54. My name is Christine. My mother lost one of her 9 children to suicide in 2012. Shortly after she had her 9th and major stroke. She lives in Gloversville NY and is living in a 3 story non handicap accessible house. As a matter of fact, because she is pretty much unable to walk, the house is falling apart. Her house was built in 1910 or something like that… but it is not wheel chair friendly. My mom may not even be able to afford it for much longer due to all her medical bills. Seriously I am begging for some kind of help. Thank you

  55. I'm a single mom who bought a fixer-upper a worked like a dog to fix it so it was a place we were proud to call home. We had rented here after my marriage broke up and then bought it 2 years later mostly because it was huge to move with 4 kids. My youngest is severely disabled and change is very hard on her. I worked very hard and after 4 years and a better job we were able to add wheelchair ramp, widen doors, enlarge first floor bath all to make her care easier & Windows siding & insulation save save on heating expense. We were so proud of our progress. July 16, 2015 we were woke by fire at 2am. I was burnt but we all got out. I assured the kids our insurance would take care of us. Thirteen months later it's a huge mess. Between mortgage company and insurance and contractor…. We are still months from completion and at a standstill. I hired a public adjustor to help as I work 60+ hours a week to provide for my family…& the only help with my disabled daughter is while I'm at work. The public adjustor claimed to be the perfect answer so I could continue to work and be free to care for her as they would ensure all aspects of claim went smoothly. Instead they have created a mess which has me living in a one bedroom travel trailer with 3 kids! The youngest 14 AND disabled. The stress is taking its toll on all of us. We aren't able to quality sleep and we just want our home back. The public ADJUSTORS have taken advantage of us terribly and I have no money to fight them…. Please help. Two of my children have been hospitalized for depression…. It's just been too much. I'm afraid of loosing nursing because of our living arrangements and then I won't be able to work!!!

  56. Hi my name is Cheyenne Wright .
I was hoping that you and you're team. Could make a house for my mom and dad my parents would love to have a log home and a nice big kitchen for my mom.

  57. Hi there! My mother and father in law are in desperate need of renovation on their home. Its a 69 year old bungalow with 2 bedrooms and a den. Its a very small house and cannot accommodate my mother in law and her health problems. She requires a walker and is also on oxygen as she suffers from numerous health problems, such as: cancer (multiple myeloma), COPD, and diabetes, to name a few. They have very little money, and what they do have is being wasted out their old windows. They pay A LOT for their utilities because the windows, and everything else in the home, i.e insulation, is severely outdated. The kitchen is very small, as well as the bathroom, so using her walker is more of a chore for her when it should be providing her relief. They built an addition to the back of the house years ago, but unfortunately, due to my mothers health problems, they ran out of funds to complete it. It too, is not properly insulted. The roof on it leaks fiercly when it rains or snows, which has caused the floor to rot out. Given the height of the front steps, my mother in law has no choice but to venture out the back door with her walker to get outside, which causes concern because of how dangerous the floor is. It would mean so much to my husband and I if their house could be updated! Thank you so much for your consideration.

  60. Hi Extreme Home Makeover! I don't even know where to begin. We live in Va&have for over 35years. Both my husband&I have overcome a lot. I am a mom to three young, caring children. My husband&I have worked really hard our whole lives. Our home is a dangerous place for us,our pets&any one who gets to visit us here. We tried to put it on the market but pulled it off after a few offers because I would never be able to live with myself if we passed this situation on to another family or someone died because of the mess we are in. I just won't bow out&let it happen. We applied for multiple routes to remodel but can't do anything because of zones or restrictions in out county. I'm so frustrated&praying. I have no idea who else to ask or what else to do. I come from a proud military family…I have tried to step,it up my whole life to not be anyone else's burden or problem..I just want my children to be safe…I'm tired of burrying pets we love.I work in various areas of charity&outreach but I grow more down&depressed weekly it's so hard to maintain a smile on my face&song in my heart when we are just out of options..I want to encourage others not bring them down. That's difficult to do when I'm so stressed&concerned with our basic safety on a minute to minute basis. IF you guys could help us, I would try so hard to pay it forward to lots of other people in our area. Our family can't even sit at a table&eat a meal together.(We love each other&don't have to eat together to know that..but a mom can hope!)
Be blessed to all reading&continue to help others out there Home Makeover! Your purpose is so refreshing&inspiring.

  61. I think everyone commenting has many reasons why they should be chosen. I'm going to take a long shot and give you mine.

My family has been homeless three times due to financial problems. But we always survived. This is our new house, currently in Las Vegas, NV, however, it isn't our home yet. The place has many issues and looks like it lacks love and care. We hope to make it better, we just lack the money to do so.

But, please, consider the fact that we really want this place to be amazing. Having moved as many times as one can count, I want to stay. Also, I want to give something great to my parents and a home makeover would be perfect!

  62. OK, where to start? I am 29 years old and I have four children; nine, six, two, and one. I am a single mother and we're struggling right now. Our house is literally falling apart. There is mold in just about every room because this house was built over a well that was busted and we have a sub pump that we have plugged in at all times so it doesn't do anymore damage than it already has. We floors about giving in from where when it rains the well overflows under our house and has flooded the floors. Our ceiling looks like it's about to give as well. I don't ever ask for a hand out and don't like to ask. This is killing me to write about this but I don't know what to do for the sake of my children. I worry about our house just caving in on my children and it's very heartbreaking that there isn't anything I can do because I can't simply afford to move, let alone renovate our home. I've always loved your show and I know most of your shows involve families that have been through illnesses, lost jobs, health conditions, and etc… Our family has been through some very very hard and heartbreaking times as well that I can't really discuss for the world to know on my child's behalf. I pray that our family somehow reaches out to you and hope that in your hearts we'll be touched, please please extreme makeover hear our crying out for your help. Please!!

  65. I am writing this for my stepdaughter. A, her husband, B, daughter, C, and son, C are in desperate need of help with renovating their house. B has already started some work, but no end is in sight any time soon, because he works full-time and can't afford to hire anyone to do the work. A gave birth to baby C in December of 2014. He was born with a heart defect and, as well, had several organ issues after he was born. After almost losing him a few times and having him labeled "failure to thrive", A recently was permitted to bring him home, because he has stabilized and she is excellent at taking care of him and using all of his equipment – he is still on dialysis, has a trach., ostomy bag, and needs a ventilator and feeding tube. She is also approved to have a home nurse, but they all keep quitting on her, and I fear it's because of the house. Baby C's room, living room and kitchen are the only completely finished rooms and contains a lot of special equipment baby C needs. The upstairs is completely unfinished and A, B, and C are sleeping on a sofa bed in the living room on the first floor. The only bathroom they use is half-finished and on the first floor. B and A both attended nearby Iowa State University and are both PhD candidates. They can't move closer to family because all of Baby C's doctors are near where they are. So they bought the best house they could afford there. It needs work though! Please help make their home a place they can all thrive!

  66. Hello my name is Rachel and I am recently married to the love of my life. Together we have four kids and we are renting a three bedroom house. One of our children has a developmental disability and we put a lot of hard work into helping him and working with him daily. My husband works out of town during the week so it is just me with four kids. We would love our own home with more room for our growing family.

  69. Help!!!
My husband is a saint! He's an active duty marine and we bought a little 2 bedroom log cabin for us. Six months after we bought the home my mother had become very sick and instead of putting her in a nursing home we moved her in with us along with my disabled sister.

Because my mother can't climb stairs we gave her our master bedroom which she shares with my sister and hubby and I are crammed into the 2nd bedroom upstairs that has no AC ventilation.

One real problem we have is no garage and I donwooodworking for a business. Moms stuff has taken over my shop as storage and I do all my work on the wraparound porch or in the dining room.

Hubby is about to come home from deployment and I'd love to surprise him with a makeover and us getting our master back without having to send mom and sis anywhere.

Thank you and blessings on your show!

  71. My brother, James, and his family are in dire need of help. Although myself and other family members have tried to help, we are running out of options and have nowhere else to turn.
My brother is a hard working man, devoted husband, and a wonderful father of four great boys. He works every day of the week to support his family and even works side jobs to help put food on the table.
His wife, Lisa, was diagnosed several years ago with Lupus. Although she has had this affliction for many years, she dreamed of being a school teacher. After finishing her degree a few years ago, she accomplished her dream and started working as a first grade teacher in her school district.
Shortly after starting her career as an educator, her Lupus came out of remission, and become unbearable. After several painful months, she was forced to quit her teaching job and is unable to work now.
Although the boys pitch in and help with chores around the house and the older boys help with the younger boys, my brother and sister-in-law cannot keep up with the day to day maintenance of their home. With my brother working so much, and my sister-in-law unable to get out of bed most days, Im afraid the house is going fall down around them. In addition, the medical bills are adding up and I'm afraid they might even lose their home.
My brother is a Desert Storm Veteran and a wonderful person. He has always been strong, but I just want to do this for him to ease his burden just a little. Your help with his situation would be greatly appreciated by me and his family. Thank you for your time.
