After losing my job as engineering technician with Jacobs in 2010 due to the effects of the recession, I have been trying to fit into another form of employment. This has lead me to find a route into recycling for the environment, spending time as a conservation ranger, possibly leading to another form of environmental science with another leading firm? Who knows? Therefore I have tons of spare time to waste and go to the cinema with freebie tickets often to escape the punishing ritual of being out in the cold winter weather of Edinburgh.
To date have not seen a better overall movie since the original star trek movie of 2009, well maybe small films like The King's Speech, however the point I'm trying to make is I thought the JJ Abrams revamp not only encouraged people back to the cinema, but created a vibrant and infusing atmosphere for a couple of hours and a maybe wanting a few school kids to head into the area of science.
For me to become an engineer, my inspiration was definitely Monty Scott, even now after years since first watching the tv show, I want to work in space; Star Trek and Gene planted the seed that grew into a tree of indspiration.
However I could not be further from my goal having never been on holiday for some time, forgotten what the sun feels like living in Scotland, due to the cold I have feeling more blue than a smurf, and working part-time, these are some of the reasons for applying for a walk-on part in the sequel.
I appreciate that I may need to register first with your team, and would have to support myself once there but I think it's worth doing, especially also to get back at my friend who relishes in the fact that at any given time we meet, he brings out pictures of his latest 'diamond, gold or material possession' to make me feel low… some friend huh?
Anyway as I sit nursing what possible is a bout of Man-flu I appreciate you reading this and potentially giving me the opportunity to live another day with my head held high.
