I believe a great actor has excellent character analysation skills and a great actor can make themselves vulnerable and expose their soul when portraying a character. Being vulnerable in real life is hard but to do it in front of 20 people as someone else and create an energy that leaves the director physically shaking and your fellow actor scared is a good start. Young actors today do not go very far outside of themselves when choosing a character. They have little life experience so they play characters that embodie who they are as opposed to characters that they must embodie. I always choose characters who are the polar opposite of me so then I know I am pushing myself way outside the square and allowing myself to be someone I am not. Then I give the character facets make her three dimensional just like we all are. Young actors don't do that because you need life experience, or must be incredibly intelligent and they do not possess these qualities.
I wanna shine and need a chance. Left the UK market, because I know if you wanna make it for all of the right reasons, this is the place to be.
