  2. hi there,
My name is Tenzi, iam 30 yrs and last October I married my true love and the love of my life. His name is Craig Hall , we had been best friends for 10 yrs , and on April 27th 2014 he asked me to marry him . He is the most caring and loving man ever. Over the 3 yes together I have overcome a lot of heart break . we started dating and instantly my mother turned her back on me as I could no longer pay her bills and I moved out and moved in with my husband , boyfriend at the time . My family has now disowned me and never came to our wedding including my mother, my dad was there and proud.I have been on anti depressants for 2.5 years now due to what my family continues to do and that is tear my husband apart. But it has made us closer. He is my rock , so supportive and hardworking . we are renting a two bedroom basement suite right now , we would like to buy a home someday but for now we will make any house a home , all I'm asking is to help personalize our space. We are rustic western look people, some ideas would be great even if we don't make it on the show. We will forever be in debited to you , Yours Truly, Tenzi Hall

  3. Hello, my name is Hailey and I'm sixteen years old. About a year and a half ago, my mother passed away from a liver disease called Non-Alcoholic Steto Hepatitis. She was sick my entire life and most of her own, but I didn't realize it until I was older, because she always hid her pain with a smile. About two years before her death, doctors performed a run-of-the-mill biopsy. Unfortunately, they neglected to notice that they had caused a bleed until my father saw that her stomach had extended three feet with blood. The doctors performed an emergency surgery with a 50/50 survival rate. After the surgery, my mom was in a medically induced coma for three weeks, and then moved into a nursing home for a few more weeks. She recovered with a large scar running the length of her stomach. She seemed to be feeling well under the circumstances. However, she began to have seizures. Each time she collapsed, I was the only one home with her, so I called 911 and talked her through things. Then, eleven months before she passed, I was in an accident and was trapped under a car. Thankfully, several men lifted the car, allowing me to crawl out. The doctor said I would've died if we had waited for the ambulance. I truly believe God was with me, because I escaped with only a few scars on my legs, a scar on my hip that needed seven stitches, and a broken collar bone. My mom was there, screaming, and I was trying to calm her down from under the car because I was afraid she'd have another seizure. I completely healed, and things were better for a while. The first week of my freshman year, my mom took a turn for the worse. She slept on a bed downstairs and hospice visited her everyday. My dad had to bathe her and help her go to the bathroom. I've never seen a couple love each other so much, and they would do ANYTHING for each other. They were married for twenty years. My dad is a police officer, the greatest man I've ever known, and my hero. It's so unfair that he lost his mother at sixteen, and lost his wife at 43. I try my very best at school in the hopes of earning a scholarship. I've kept my GPA at nearly 4.2 during both my years in high school. My dad wants me to go to college and be successful, as do I. I hope one day I can help him as much as he's helped me. Thank you for your time and God bless.

  4. I'm writing this for my mother inlaw because she would never do this for herself; in fact, she would never ask for anything for herself. Let me tell you a little story. My husband and I along with my two boys were sitting in church one day listening to the preacher give an example from her own life on how God provides in times of need. She went on to talk about how when her boys were little they were sitting in church, and they passed around the collection plate as they always do she let the collection plate pass right by her with out offering anything. You see, her husband was laid off and all they had for groceries and such was $20, and that had to last a family of 5 two weeks. She had left that $20 in her purse out in the car. my mother inlaw sat thre the rest of the sermon. She tried to ignore the urge to got get that $20 bill from her purse. She sat pleading with GOD in her head " this is all I have to feed my boys", " what will I do to provide for my family", "all I have is this $20" ………I can only imagine how that felt as a mother to worrie about your children going hungry, but this amazing women of faith marched out to her car and grabbed that $20 dollar bill from her purse and dropped it in the offering plate. That day in church the offering was being collected for a family in dire straights. She didn't know what she was going to do for money for the next two weeks, but she knew God would provide. A few days later she got a check in the mail for $60. I was sitting there listening to her tell her story, and I found my self questioning my self. How would I have handled that same situation. Then I looked over at my husband a watched the tears streaming down his face. I got my answer. I would do the same thing. I am truly amazed by my mother in laws faith, and admire the way she gives and gives unconditionally. Her name is Vera. She is a pastor for 4 churches. Her husband " my husbands father" passed away in 2005 of a massive heart attack leaving Vera a widow. She makes due with what she has and never asks for anything. We drove to WV to visit her this Easter and we were heartbroken when we saw her house. The floor joist are giving out. In the bathroom you have to be carful where you step because the floor sinks. It a matter of time before the toilet falls right threw the floor. In the living room the floor joist is so bad that the floor is raised almost a foot higher than the rest of the floor. The kitchen cabinets are falling off the wall. Her room is always freezing due to being poorly insulated. The list just goes on and on. We need your help. Better yet she needs your help. Her house is falling down around her, she has a brain aneurism that could take her life if she does not distress, and she is spreading her self thin trying to help everyone around her. I would love to be able to look over at my husband one day and see tears of happiness streaming down his face from seeing his mom live in a home she deserves.

  7. Dear ABC..
Am a young girl of 16 who has experienced a lot of hardships in my life..we are a family of 16 we all live in the same crowded house filled with stuff. My parents passed away when i was 5 years old.Nobody in the house works permanently my aunts have failed looking for jobs everything they try just falls apart. My uncle is disabled he can't walk proparly sometimes he would fall and we'll have to catch him..nobody has ever gone to college or university it just hurts so much looking at other kids at school being provided with everything they need while i have nothing..i wish to provide for my younger siblings but i just can't.as i am a teenager.when it rains water gets into the house.I DON'T ASK FOR MUCH BUT JUST A House repair please ABC please.WERE IN SOUTH AFRICA AND I JUST HOPE THAT WON'T BE A PROBLEM PLEASE TY WE REALLY NEED YOUR HELP..GOD BLESS YOU.

  8. My brother is living in a house that is literally falling down around his ears. It is located on our family's property. A few months ago, a tree limb fell on the house during a storm. He was living in one room which was still in fair shape. The well is not working any more so he has no water and his pickup is broke down so he has no transportation. He has no place else to go and has to rely on his children to bring him water and groceries. He lives off a small social security retirement check and can't afford to do any thing about the house.

  9. I am writing for my mom and step-dad. They are the most giving people I have ever met. My step-dad works a lot of hours at the local school just to make sure everything is properly maintained and runs smoothly. He even works nights and weekends whenever it is needed. My mom volunteers her time during the week and on the weekends to keep the school's horse program up and running. She even lets the school use her horses since funding doesn't allow the purchase of their own. Their house is in desperate need of remodel but they do not have the money. Their stalls could use some work too. They do more for others than themselves so I am trying to do something for them. Thank you.

  10. I am looking for an intervention from faith. I am 35, married with 3 kids and one grandchild at home. I was disabled 5 years ago with bipolar, fibromyalgia and PTSD. My husband was injured this year and has not been able to work. My two sons lost their biological father in 2014 to a rare heart condition and we are struggling with getting along. Faith has kept us going. We found a home to rent for two years with a lease to buy to start after the two years. It was pricey but knowing after the two years we could lease it and start to own it was the step we needed to do to have something of our own. After the two years was over the landlord decided the only way he would lease to buy anymore was if we would pay him more than double what the house was worth tripling the rent and we could not afford that. We were taken advantage of because I was disabled and there was nothing I could do about it. Our family is not wealthy and we struggle to get by. Raising kids on disability is hard enough then being taken out of work and not having the means of providing for them is tougher. I have a 19 year old, 15 year old, 13 and 2 year old at home. putting groceries on the table is a number one concern. I get my strength and support from the Lord. I am asking for a little help. I know there are others who have it worse than I do. If there's a way and it is His will someone will help us. If not I ask just for your prayers. God bless you for the work you have done. Lives have forever been changed and that is something to be grateful for.

  11. 13. I am a single working mother. I cannot get ahead. I own a 962 sq. ft home and my electric bill in the winter runs 500 plus. 🙁 i am currently in preforcloseure until I get my house payment caught up because of this.
I need to weatherize my home. I have the same windows that were put in this house in 1972. The house needs some serious electrical work. I have an extension cord running from my washer into a bedroom in order to do laundry.
We had an earth shimmer which cracked my 1 car garage floor, which in turn shifted my wall in my bedroom that joins the garage.

My dream is to have a nice two car garage and more space in the house. It would be nice to provide nice bedroom furniture for my daughter. It would be nice for me to have a work shop. I love to make stuff, when I have time, I take care of my 87 year old grandmother two nights a week. That leaves little time for me and my daughter to hang out. i would love to rid of the creases in between my eyes from all the stress I carry worrying about how I am going to pay all of my bills. Please help. I don't need crazy over the top. Just a nice break in life. I feel like a cat chasing its tail and getting no where but working hard to try!

  14. My husband and I need your help so very badly, we are in our 60s and both disabled we lived in a camper 3 years to build our home on his family's farm it took every penny we had, I had to have back surgery and both my knees need to be replaced, my husband had his left knee replaced, hes had a heart attack and 3 strokes we got our home built, his father took it away because the land was in his name so we lost it all. while moving I done circles around to semi trucks God had me in his hands, after we got here a car blew up in my husbands face he had to be life flighted to Georgia burn center he breathed all the smoke in and the medics almost lost him twice on the way then we were homeless and just plain lost. We found out that two days after we were police escorted out of our home and the officer telling us he knew it was wrong of his father to do this his own brother moved in the house we built with our savings and we were thrown out in the streets, there lots more to the story its like a nightmare that doesn't stop, our car froze and the motor had to be replaced. I can't do much at all my husband does a lot of my house work for me my back surgery has just never really got better, I can't lift anything of over 10 pounds. I now have neuropathy both feet and hands.since September 2013 till now my precious husband and I have been homeless twice and both came came close to loosing each other we are here by the Grace of God we didn't know what we were going to do and trying to get help is like trying to move a mountain. I pray you consider my application Lord knows we need your help. So I will say Thank you in advance and hope to meet you soon.

  17. My mom doesn't know I'm doing this, but I just feel so bad for everything we are going through. My dad passed away from diabetes and he was completely blind and now one of his sisters has diabetes and has one year to live and it's just heart breaking and we'll my mom has to maintain us all by herself, but she only has 1 job and she doesn't get paid well to maintain 4 children. We moved here about a year ago and our house before was 20 million times worse, I never wanna go back. It's pretty bad now, our house is invested with dog hairs, and we don't have enough room for all of us. There's 3 small rooms. I share a room with my sister and my little brothers share another one. We don't have enough space. I'm scared that one day, this house will come apart on a tornado or something. I want us to be safe. I want my mom to be safe, I lost my daddy, I don't wanna lose her. That's my life… ):

  18. My family has been working on a new house for well over 13 years. My mom and dad are the two most hard working and deserving people. They would give the shirts off their backs for anyone.
Knowing this they put aside and put aside their dream home because of finances life and putting others ahead of themselves.
So please please consider my family please and thank you.

  19. Here's how the story goes…just before Christmas I was waiting for my flight at the airport and I decided to sit at the bar and have a beer. Sitting next to me was a man with several alcoholic beverages, and a pile of pills. I asked him if he was afraid of flying. Over the next hour, I learned that the man next to me, Sal, was dying of stage 4 pancreatic cancer. His wish was to build his wife a 'tiny house' before he died. She's a school teacher. He's a writer. They had used up all their money on his medical expenses. His brother started a fundraiser for him, and now, 4 months later, friends and family have donated almost enough for the materials to build the tiny house – about 20k. It's taking time to scrape the funds together, but there's not much time left. Sal just wants to get the project done and ready for his wife (and dog) before he goes. How great it would be if he could see the project completed and die knowing that his wife would be comfortable in the loving, little house he built for her. The end.

  20. Hello ABC,
My name is Stephon Thomas and I'm 21 and I love my family. My mother has two of her boys in college and still has the youngest son living with her. I wish my mom would take care of herself more but she doesn't. I would like to say I live in a great house but in reality I don't. On the positive side, I can say that she owns that house. There are so many things wrong with the house. Honestly, you can check it out and see how awful it is. I feel like if my mom had an extreme house makeover she would be more content with having more friends and having a life because I'm scared that when she dies she won't have many friends of her own to cherish her life. I frankly I don't even invite my friends to the house because I'm embarrassed to show people the house. Please help our family lose our insecurities about our house.

His wife left him with a 800.00 dollar light bill he doesn't know how he is going to pay… I would love if there was a way he would get help and I'd love for it to be tgrouvh y'all but if not I still have Faith that God will work out a plan for this gentlemen who was left with nothing… Thank You so much…

  22. Hello my name is shadenna i am 27 years of and i have a 4 year old little girl named nataley. We live with my mother kim and she has been my rock since i was little she works her butt off everyday to support my my 13 year old brother and sister whom are twins. Her home is not a completely broken but the walls and the water problems are horrible. She is always helping others day after day but seems to not have any luck getting any help back. She loves god and always seems to be praying for things to get better.. sometimes i hear her crying at night outside her bedroom door because she is in need of things to be fixed.. the owner of the house wont allow her to fix anything because she still owes 15000 dollars to own it.. me personally do not believe this house is worth it. Its poorly insulated the twins including myself my mother and my little girl are constantly sick because there are only a total of three heat vents and everytime it rains the storage shelter where the gas furnace is gets flooded and keeps the furnace from staying lit. Im sorry i just didnt know whom else to turn to for help because no one else in this town knows what to do. Thank you for this opportunity to share our story with you. God bless you all

  29. I would like to nominate a co-worker for a home makeover. She and her family have been living in a travel trailer for over 2 years, due to unexpected living conditions in a newly purchased older home. They have been unsuccessfully trying to save money to repair the structural, electrical, and plumbing damages. This family of 5, including 3 children, would greatly benefit from external help in order to move from these contained living conditions into their home. This family suffers from many health issues preventing them from having available funds to fix the house. The mom works as a nurse, the dad is currently unemployed with minimal job opportunities. Even through their diificulties they are continuously volunteering in their church and helping families in their community. Please consider this loving family for an extreme home makeover.

  32. Hello, we'll let me start by saying I love your show and I need a full box of tissues every time I watch it. I am a 43 yr old single mom of four sons, I'm a only child of deceased parents so my kids are my world. I am a cancer survivor I was told I was pregnant with my fourth child the day I went in to start radiation to fight the cancer after surgery and was told that my options was to terminate the pregnancy and begin radiation therapy or I would have to wait until the baby was born. Well I told my doctor that there was NO option I was not going to kill a life to save my own, what's ment to be will be, the next day the child father told me he decided he did not want to be in a relationship and when I was 7 months pregnant my dad passed away. No not a good nine months at all and I was so alone. Well today that same baby is now a very busy 5 yr old and the cancer is gone. While I was sick and going through a lot my son Aaron stood by me he tried so hard to be there for me. And then after I had the baby he I listed in the Army and sent me most of his money to help me with rent, food and utilities until I was released to go back to work, without him I don't know what I would have done. 37. I just want to say first of all, I love this show. It does my heart good to see the smiles on the faces of the families who receive the make overs. Now my plea. I am writing this as plea for help for my daughter's family. They are in desperate need of help with their home. They are living in a two bedroom single mobile home. It is literally unlivable. There is mold on the walls from the roof leaking, the floors are falling in and one bathroom is not usable. My daughter and her husband have three daughters. My daughter's husband is disabled from a heart attack that destroyed most of his heart. He has an L-VAD that keeps his heart pumping until he can get a heart transplant. Their daughter's have chronic pancreatitis. They have had many many hospitalizations for this disease. The oldest daughter has been referred for a pancreatectomy and Ilet cell transplant. My daughter is the caretaker for all of them. She works as a waitress when she can. She is unable to work frequently due to all the illness of the family. She never complains. She does however wish for a home. One that is safe to live in and big enough for her family. She especially worries about the hazards of living in this home. They have just not been able to afford a better home. I hope and pray you will see fit to choose them for a make over. This family has been through a lot. They deserve to have a better home to live in. Please HELP!

  38. To whom it may concern,
My husband, Garrett and I have been married for eighteen years. We have three wonderful kids. Garrett is a US Navy veteran. He served for four years right out of high school. He has always worked hard to support our family so that most of the time I was able to stay home with the kids. He has been a scout leader, and master. Scouts is a big deal in our home. Our eldest is close to getting his Eagle award. Family and home is the most important thing in the world to my husband. We were finally getting to a confortable place financially when we closed on our fixer upper home last July. It took us four years renting it before we were able to finally buy. Then in October we were devastated wnen Garrett was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, which is causing Cardiac AL Amyloidosis, which is causing heart failure. There is no cure for any of these illnesses. He is just 39. It is unknown how much time we will have with him. Every day is special now. And we say I love you as much as we can. We are destroyed financially. Our home is need of many repairs. Our most recent problem is ground water seeping into the lower level of the home in the last week with all the spring rain we have had. We do not have the funds to fix it and I don't know what I will do about it. I ask this for my husband. For his peace of mind, in the time that he has left. Things are difficult, and he is always apologizing for getting sick. Can you believe that? He tells me he is sorry for being a burden. I stay home to take care of him and some days are really difficult, but I always tell him he is not a burden. I cherish the time we are lucky to have. I feel sorry that there is not more I can do for him. I feel sorry that our kids are going to lose their wonderful dad. Thank you for your consideration.

  41. Hello I really don't no where to begin. My mother passed away on Oct 25th 2014 in which she took care of my older brother. I had to fight the state to get guardianship. They said I could t work and take care of him. I had a serious nervous breakdown. Still under drs. Care. But in Jan. My mother in law died as well Inwhich she had no burial Insurance. So there went all our savings. My husband is disabled as well. So my landlord evicted us. No compassion. So I took my last check and bought some land in Beebe At. Which had a house on it. In liveable but we had no choice. We wrapped the house in plastic and had a very small wood stove. No electricity for two months or water. May God be the glory we survived thru the snow and Ice. We really need your help please. I pray in Jesus name

  42. Hi my name is Liz. I live in Lewiston, Maine. I don't know if you are going to read this and I'm not always good at asking for help but I am taking up as much courage and grace of nature to ask you to consider my family and I. There is my mother Barbara, Me, my two children, Oceana and Jose, and my two nephews, Alex and Matthew. Ages between 6&10. We are currently living in my deceased grandparents house that is falling to ruins. My son Jose and my nephew Alex are mentally unstable and have diagnosis and have gone through so many workers and still do not listen. My mom is talking about quitting her job as a head start daycare assistant teacher because they recently got kicked out of daycare. On top of it all, the house is falling apart. If my mom loses her job idk how she will afford her mortgage that my uncle helped cosign. My mom loves kids dearly and have taken on custody of my two children and my two nephews. I try to help as much as possible but I am on disability for my mental health. I don't know what else you want to hear or how loud I should plead for you to hear me, but thank you for your time and consideration.

  43. i need help for my friend she has a little girl thats disable and she is a good mom and she douse her best she can and she has no one to help her i do a lot for her if i can but she needs a home for her and her kids she has a little boy and i am asking for help for her so if you can please help me help her thank you

  44. Helloi would just love to have this as an opportunity to bring great joy to my husband and my childrens lives. my husband and i have been married for close to 18 years, he has always worked hard to keep a roof over our heads and we have even took in and raised other peoples children along the way. though it was very hard because these other children had physical sickness issues as well as emotional and mental handicaps and disabilities, are family stayed together. we now live in home that is deteriorating with recurring black mold causing my children certain ailments in their bodies but we cannot afford to move. leaky parts of the roof when it rains, kitchen sink destroyed by the people who had disabilities and havent been able to repair a busted pipe line,so only able to use hot water. The bathroom sink is rotting wood and only ablt to use the hot water in that sink as well. The bathtub needs a bit of repair as well from the damage caused by the ones with disabilities as well. Walls are drywalled and very thin and easily damaged. there is not sufficient insulation, so many times our home is freezing and we use space heaters on and off when necessary. A state company did try to come and insulate the home by shooting and injecting through the siding however our home is now very unsightly due to the damage they caused with this process we have holes all over with caps over them. There is so much and i just want to be able to bring some spot of sunshine to my husband for all his hard work and sacrifices over the years and also to my children for the sacrifices they had to be put in the position of making when we took in other children for the majority of their lives they had to share time, attention and love and space by giving up their rooms among other things. please consider us for this great opportunity. Sincerely, Adriana

  47. Hello, my name is Viadellia and I am writing on behalf of my mother Jane of Shreveport, LA. I know you all will read several heart felt stories and would like to choose them all but I understand you can't. I am convinced your hearts will lead you all to the most needed candidate.
Back in 1979 our home was destroyed by a house fire. My mom found out about a year after reconstruction that the female company she used had done a dishonest job and hired a crooked inspector to sign off on their work. So after that discovery an inspection of our home was done and to my mother's astonishment that company had used the same material from the fire that was not chard to rebuild the home and sand it down and painted over it, our cabinets and the ceiling are now separating and falling in, they also had a faulty furnace installed in which they placed new coverings on it to appear to be a new unit and as a result of that the house almost burned down again. So she has been without heating and AC since 1981 or so. Over the years we had found chard pieces of wood in the back of cabinets that wasn't often used. After that discovery and she reached out to her homeowners insurance again and was advised it was nothing they could do because there was a mortgage on her home. So through the years there's been several thousands of dollars spent to several different people or companies only to find that she has been being taken advantage of and either the work was no completed or not done correctly. She's attempted to go through the city for rebuild and was approved only to get the news that due to misuse of funds of that grant program everyone that had been approved for a home maker is NOW denied. My mother has been trying to get her home repaired through the years at her own expense and is now on a fixed income and can no longer afford to do it. We as her children have attempted to help to get her home back in living condition but to no avail. Through the years her home has been dilapidating inside and out because of the negligence of the builders whom has disappeared. Because of the condition of her home the city has condemned her home twice but can't force her to move because she can't afford to move. The plumbing doesn't work so she has to bath from a pan and her toilet is a potty chair for seniors. The electrical wiring is faulty so she has to use the orange construction electrical cord throughout her home to plug things into which is a hazard because not all of wall sockets work. Also do to faulty work her main bathroom had to be torn up with the intentions to rebuild by another company only for that not to be completed. So she has no tub or toilet in full bath and in her half bath the ceiling has beginning to cave in to where you can see the roof. There are holes in the walls and ceiling of several rooms which has allowed bird, cats, and other animals in. Through the years of the roof and ceiling slowing being destroyed it has allowed rain in which the dampness and moisture has caused mold in her walls which is causing her to battle respiratory issues. My mom's home is so bad off that when I was living there and had a baby and the city condemned her home that second time, it caused the housing authority to move me to the top of the list for housing and was able to move in almost immediately. Due to the negligence of this company so much has and is falling apart with my mother's home. It's not safe nor a healthy living environment. When me and my family come in town she refuse to allow us to come up there or to come in because of how ran down everything is and she is embarrassed. From the street, the eaves of her home has separated pretty much all around her home. Several of her rooms she can't use because of possible animals, pest, or even snakes that may be living in them. With the electrical problems she can't turn the light on in several rooms either. Her AC unit was blown out about 25 years ago to thunderstorms so she has two window units. She has not been able to use her laundry room in years as well because of the hole in the wall for the backyard storage room to inside. I am now 44 years old and my siblings and I have tried to put together funds to have her home repaired a little at time but because of the condition of her home not one thing could be done at one time. My mom made 70 years of age this year and I can see the emotional and medical toll this has taken on her and to hear the disappointment in her voice when she has to go to one of her children's home when the weather get too bad be it hot or cold and when she has to go to someone else's home to bath or wash her clothes. But through it all she has until recent years had a good attitude with it all.
So please Extreme Homemaker Over please find it in your hearts to choose my mother’s home for rebuild. I would like to see her happy and healthy with a home where she is not embarrassed of, is safe, and we can go visit or stay when we come to town to visit.

  53. I am writing on behalf on my mother who has Early Onset Alzheimer’s. She is only 58. My Mom is the third generation to have Early Onset Alzheimer’s and as a family, we are trying to take what we learned while caring for my Grandfather before he passed away from the illness, and try and implement what we learned more proactively for my Mom. My Mom was a vital member of our community, worked for the same company for 15+ years, volunteered at our schools and in the community all her life, and even continued that tradition for a her grandson as well. Her giving efforts and loving nature is well known by anyone who knows her. For years, she gave to us all. Her love for others and the time, energy and commitment she gave to others was boundless and tireless. Mom can no longer work, but even today, she volunteers with the local chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association and frequently gives speeches and helps with events and fundraisers. She even traveled with the Alzheimer’s delegation to the state Capital this year to speak with legislators about necessary funding for Alzheimer’s research. We’d like to do what we can to give back to her now while she fights this horrible disease. Bottom line, Mom and Dad’s home currently isn’t set up for another family member (or live-in help/hospice care) to be able to care for her when the time comes. As a family, we’ve discussed the need for a “multi-generational” home that would support and allow both families to live together, work, etc. while still supporting the ill family member needing care. I’ve decided to sell my home and take the profits from it and give it to my parents to build an extension to their home that help will help her stay in her home with me and her grandson, or other family members as her needs change, so she can have someone with her and my Dad to help with the growing needs for her care. We know that changing “environments” has a negative effect on Alzheimer’s, so our goal is to prevent that decline now, so she can remain in the home for as long as possible. Clearly, an extension to support additional family members moving in to help take of her is the best answer. Unfortunately, even if I get top dollar when I sell my home, it’s likely not enough to fully fund the entire cost of the addition. I’ve mentioned this roadblock to others, and friends and neighbors have suggested a show such as ABC’s Extreme Home Makeover could be the answer to our prayer. Dealing with Early Onset Alzheimer’s is difficult beyond words. As a family we are attempting to deal with it with as much grace and strength as we can muster, but in this specific situation, we could truly use some help. Please help us help our Mom live in her own home so she can have the necessary live-in help from family members she will need in order to move through this horrible disease with the dignity and grace she deserves. Thank you.

  54. Hello, My name is Catherine and I am writing because of my grandmother. She is a very loving person, and will never say no when people ask for her help. She is a well known community member elder, and has a heart of gold. She is a Residential School survivor, and although she has been through so much, she still helps others. When her father was passing, she took care of him. Last year, my great-grandmother has passed (her mother) and has been her care-giver for decades. Now, she is moving out of her mother's home, into her home that I think is not safe for her. Last summer the basement flooded, and I was helping her throw out some of her things. She was sad to throw out some items that were sentimental. She's in a very sad part of her life as she is still grieving. Please help my grandmother, I want her to live a healthy life, because she so deserves it.
    Thank you,
    Catherine

  55. I'm Ashunti, 12 years old and im doig this because our house needs a makeover really bad. My room is very small and it can only hold 3 people at a time. Our livingroom is small we have couches, a huge lamp,a computer, tv almost everything. My kitchen is small and inside the kitchen is a washer and dryer. There isn't space to move around when cooking and you just kinda bump into everything. There are a couple of holes in the walls and the paint job is horrible. We have paint peeling off of walls. our bathroom flooring is hideous to be honest so is the kitchen flooring we don't have landscaping outside. My brother is 8 and growing fast he has so much in his room and around the house, it would be great if he had a playing area. My parents room is not biggest ever theres not really much closet space. We have one bathroom and theres 4 of us. My parents bought this house 12 years ago and in total its 42 years old. So its not updated. I would be all kinds and forever thankful if you chose my house to makeover.
    Sincerely, Ashunti McGhee

  59. Hello,
My name is Laura and I would love if you would visit my best friend Kim (23yrs old) and her family. Kim, her husband Jake, and her beautiful baby boy Caleb, live on a ranch in campo, CA. When Caleb was born 2 years ago with a rare disease called 2q37 chromosomal micro deletion. Since it is so rare their are many possibilities that could happen. Caleb already has 3 surgeries under his belt, many trips the the hospital, therapy, special school, and a hospital bill that keeps climbing, they barely make it by. Yet you would never know when you met this family because they are truly one of a kind. Life has thrown them many curve balls, but even with all the struggles they are the most positive people bringing so much joy to this world. They would never ask for anything and that is why I want to do this for them.
They recently moved to their families ranch to help pay rent, moving into a mobile home. Since the weather has extremities, it gets freezing in their home and then burning hot in the summer. There are leaks, cracks, no insulation, a baby room that shares with the kitchen, and the list goes on..
I wish words could explain how much this family means to me and how much I want to help, but don't have the funds to. So this why I am asking and praying you would be able to make this dream come true and be able to meet this amazing family.
Thank you so much for your time and consideration.
    -Laura

  61. Hello my name is Brittany and our family is a family of 7 me and my husband and two kids were forced to move out of our home recently after I had my son I got really sick. I had to undergo four surgeries , therefore I had to stop working I was a small business owner at cleaning houses and my husband installs carpet. His income wasn't enough to keep us going so we have moved in with my grandparents and aunt. My grandparents are 65 and 70 and still have to work to help keep our family going I'm very thankful to have them . The house we live in is a 3 bedroom home with 1 bathroom we all share. Me my husband and kids all have to share one romm which is very hard. We recently found out my grandmother has a lung disease and my grandfather has congested heart failure. My grandparents asked us to stay forever so they have someone to help take care of them but I dont know how we can make this work without the help you you guys we are in desperate need of your help . Exterme Home Makeover would be the answer to our prayers. We would all be able to live together as a family but also have our own space please consider my comment. Thank you Extreme Home Makeover!

  62. My sister Lisa recently lost her husband, Joey, last September in a accident at work. He fell off a ladder and was later pronounced brain dead at Standford Hospital. He left three amazing girls and his three nephews that he raised as his own, without a Father. Right now it's hard for everyone to stay living in the house they are in now, they can't afford it. My sister owns a small 2 bedroom house that my great grandmother left her when she died. It's not in good shape and needs a LOT of work. Lisa and Joey had plans to work on the house and move into their dream home. Unfortunately, they never had the chance to start. She has been so strong for her girls while it's been tough on her having to be the provider for her family. She would like to move into her house, so that she won't have to struggle financially but needs help with renovation. We would greatly appreciate any help, big or small. Thank you for all you do.

  64. Hi my name is Abigail and I'm applying for this application for extreme home makeover for my grandparents. My grandpa and grandma moved into my grandpa's parents old house. It's very oold.my grandpa in September had a heart attack and was released from the hospital in January and has short time memory loss and has little feeling in his hangs/arms. My grandpa had a knee surgery about 8 years ago and has had a problem with them since. On top of that 5 years ago my grandma was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. They where able to get rid of it but it is something wr worry about every day. They both suffer from diabetes and they live on a fixed income. They try to help everyone out because they hate to see family suffer but in reality they are the ones who need the help. In there bathroom thw floor is rotting out and the shower floor feels like it would give out if you where to jump. Out side my grandpa's gun room the walls are completely rotted. They have there 43 year old son living with them he is disabled and unable to work. Our family would very much appreciate it if you guys gave them this makeover.
Thank you for taking time out of your day to read this.

  67. My name is Skylar. I'm from Iowa. I'm going to cut right to the chase here. I know a guy who lives over on the Illinois side. Disabled but the sweetest big hearted man I've ever met. He has turned his home into a homeless shelter. Most, not all of the people have completely destroyed that place. I really don't know if getting into detail on here is best but his house most definitely could use a make over. Here's a few examples. He has no carpet. Its all concrete. He has leakes with the windows & doors. His house only gets warm through the floor. It's not safe for anybody. He has done so much for so many with little to no appreciation with what little he has. Please, help him.
    Thank you.

  69. Hello ABC, I would like to nominate my home for a makeover. We have been trying to remodel our home but my husband has just had his 5th heart attack and cannot work. He is on disability but it barely pays the bills. I have 3 sons, two of which have seizures and medical bills are eating us alive. We have also found black mold in our bedroom so we can no longer use it. My husband and I are now sleeping on the living room floor. The house is in really bad shape and we cannot fix anything else on our budget. I have been going back to school and have been student teaching so I have not gotten a check since January. I don't know when I will be able to get a job. I really want the house to be livable but it is going to take so long to catch up on bills that I don't know how long it would take us on our own to improve the house. Thank you for reading this and I hope you consider our family.

  71. My name is Mantsebo Florence Manama born in South Africa but raised up in Lesotho. We are a family of 10 people. On that ten my father died in 1992 when I was only eleven years followed by my brother in 2006 who was the only one working at that particular moment. I have studied sports Management and Business Administration degree and I can still not find a job. My brothers and sisters are not working and they have kids and my mother is staying in small house with out bathrooms, bedroom and worse it is divided by a curtain to have a kitchen and a bedroom. We are all surviving on R1300 of my father' pension fund awarded to my mum. I know this is out side your perimeter of job spec but if you believe and the show is watched by millions of viewers around the world then my faith is right, home makeover will one day come to my COUTRY (Lesotho) to change the living conditions of my Family and beloved ones for good cause I believe it made for every one. Ty and your Team have brought change in so many people's lives so can you bring change in Africa,Lesotho my life and my family.

  72. My husband and I purhased a small cabin on the river to live in to get out of the project apartments. Thinking we could fix it to be our home, it has no closets, storage in the kitchen, a toilet and shower only. We thought we could live in it and fix it up as we go but it has become a dead and not very possible project after 10 years I still have a bath tub that is not installed. My husband and I both work and a year ago we inherited a teen daughter to live with us and she doesn't have storage or closets. We need help! I just want to have a normal home.
