  1. Dear ABC Home Makeover,
I would like Jennifer my mom to have a home.In 2007 she lost her my due to cancer and heart failure. The same year she lost her job and we both got into a bad car accident. For while she didn't have a job and making it was very hard. She is the type of person that would help anyone. Her faith in Jesus Christ keeps her hoping for better. My mom was recently diagnosed with high blood pressure she works a job that is very hard and has 3 grand children.Their ages our 4 months,2 years old and a 5 year old.Jennifer always gives back to people even though she is struggling. My mom goes without buying new shoes or clothes for herself. It would be such a blessing if you would pick her she is a very good person.Thank you for reading this.God Bless. Love the Mccants and Mejia family.

  3. ABC Home Makeover, Home Edition

I love your show and I cant stop to cry with every end, you and the job you are doing is more than amazing for a lot of people in another way maybe they never could do it.

I am dominican and I came to USA a month ago after almost 6 years apart from my husband, who is living with my sister in law since 1999 we met each other online, we fell in love and during 6 months talking on the phone, sending pictures each other and writing emails on december 26th 2005 he flew to dominican republic to get to know me and my oldest son and we knew from that moment on we had to be together so next day we got married and 2 days later our youngest son was growing inside of me. Today 6 years later Im nominating my sister in law as a possible candidate to your show, cause she own this house but needs help with a lot of things, many people live in here including my husband, me and our kids; she didn't know who I was, we didnt talk too much on the phone during those years, but she only knew that I was family and that me and my kids need help to come over, so even when she has a lot of bills, cause my parents in-law are now living in here too, because my father in-law is getting blind for glaucoma and my mother had an stroke a few time ago and never went back to be the same, act like a person with alzheimer syndrome or something like that, sometimes she cant even rememember who is who, or get to the bathroom quick and everything just messed up right there for her cause she needs to go upstairs and cannot do it fast, my husband, me and our boys live in a room extra that my sister in law create for us in the garage and she all day is working from 8 or 9am to 11pm or 1am I never see her take a break she pay for everything mortgage medical treatment for my parents n law, our migration process, flight tickets, food for the house, food for my oldest son school…and never, ever ask for anything in return she never got married and is like a big mama for all of us but everything she could have about money is just to pay bills and help others, the backyard needs to be repair, kitchen area too, maybe get a way that my parents could have more space and facilties to move with no problem and she maybe and special place to relax when she get home and let her pretend that everything around is ok , that everything will be just fine even tho' when she wakes up in the morning the reality could be different, but at least the relax from that special place and the rest she could find on it gives her back the energy she needs to keep going, one more yard, one more day.

Thank you for taking a moment to consider these lines.

    Thank you beforehand!!

    Sara Leonard

  4. Dear ABC Home Makeover,

I love your show and enjoy watching the heart warming stories of how much you give and bring to the well deserving families. I want to know how to to nominate my sister Jessica. She is the best and most deserving person I know. Her and her husband have currently bought a house in Graham, Wa and they have four kids and my mom and myself living there. Her husband works non stop for terminix and they provide a roof for any who needs it or a hot meal or clothing if needed. My mom is loosing her house so they offered up a room for her and briught all her belongings into their home. Their youngest son is on four and he has spent countless days in the past in hospitals due to hi allergues, and his asthma. The kids are so amazing and would gladly give up christmas and birthday presents because mom and dad need to pay bills.. If you could please come to Washington and help them I would be so happy they deserve it, my mom deserves it after 25yrs of marriage to my father and one brief accident that took his life she needs to know how much she is loved and cherish after all the crap she has taken from my other siblings and from my fathers siblings. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hoe to hear from you soon.. God bless and have a great night.

    Sincerely

    Faith Hernandez

  7. Hello Crew. My name is Timmy Bowers and I am in Bozeman,Montana. I am writing for my family's sake,I am mainly concerned with there health. We purchased a house about 7 years ago and went through all the inspections and closed on the house only to find out 3 days later that the house had a extensive mold problem in large portion of the house, for example the whole attic space. The real estate broker never disclosed the mold problem. We ended up finding out about the problem from a relative of the previous owners who had basically packed up and moved out and let the bank foreclose on the house. When we purchased the home my wife was pregnant with our second son, if we would have known about the problem we would not have put ourselves in this situation. I am a painter in the construction industry and have my own business and have felt the effects of a weak economy and cannot fix this problem. The estimate 5 years ago was $56,000 and I have already went into debt trying to fix what I can little by little while working and helping to raise a family. The thought of my children suffering because of some one else's deceitfulness make's me feel sorrow for those responsible parties and no one ever took responsibility for their wrongdoings or offered to help out. All we wanted was the truth and the problem fixed so my family and I can have peace of mind while we are in our own home. My youngest son had to have adnoid surgery as an infant and my older son had surgery as well.We would love to be able to fix this problem on own but the scale of the project is out of our reach financially. There is alot more to this story but I have taken the time to read many other desperate pleas and know your decisions must be hard. Thanks for the inspiring show. The Bowers-Shoemaker Family.

  12. Hi, My name is Dalila Rodriguez, we are a family of 5.In 2008 while we were pregnant with out third child, we received the terrible diagnosis of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy for our two eldest children, now 11 and 8. Since then, my oldest is in a power chair unable to walk, stand and legs becoming crippled and weakness ravaging his body. My middle son is stronger but this is a progressive, degenerative, fatal muscle disease. Luckily my youngest is not affected, but my nephew is. Since then, we have already lost one home to a short sale and now struggling to keep the one we are in. My husband is a firefighter for the City of Miami, he also works as a medic for FPL part-time and we are running a small business of vedning machine products. Even this way we are still heavily struggling. He also goes to school. I have been a stay at home mom since the diagnosis and now that my youngest will be going to school, I am enrolled to start an occupational therapy program and see if that can get me a good job so I can help out my husband. All that and juggling 3 children and special needs and lots of therapy. We have been involved with the local MDA and done fundraising when we have been able to. Our home is a 4 bedroom/2 bath. One of the bathrooms is empty because we have not been able to remodel and the other one is far from being handicap accessible. Our son enters the house throuh the back yard because we have to ramp in the front. But, even with all that, our children are happy and loved immensly. Please consider us for the extreme home makeover and thank you for this wonderful proram that has help so many people.

  13. My aunt has four children. She is a single mom who works at a military base as a teachers aid for 20 years now. She lives in a two bedroom home that caught on fire a few years back. She struggles to buy food and cloths for them. Has no money to fix her home, which is falling apart. Her ex husband does not pay child support. Her oldest son is 15 and he is mentally retarded. I do don't know a person who would appreciate and needs this as bad as she does.
    Thank you

  14. Hi ABC
I am a british viewer and would like to nominate my gran for an extreme makeover as she has done so much for me and the rest of our family, she lost her son my uncle when he was only 17 years old while out for a run with my grandad his dad he slipped down a small slope and broke his neck diying instantly my grandad carried his body back to our house over 6 miles away and when i turned 16 i ran away from home due to family problems and she found me after a week of looking then took me in even though they were short of money they put me through college and university and i helped out where i could. My grandad bought 6acres of land when he was 21 and married my gran opening a local flower nursey growing all his own flowers and shrubs etc to sell on the site and did untill 2009 when he was diagnosed with cancer and after 6 months of treatment was given the all clear but a month later he went to the doctors due to headachs and was sent back to hospital for tests where it was discovered he had an in operable brain tumor and was given two months to live, but he was always a fighter and carried on for 9 months before it finally took his life leaving my gran and aunty and her two children with the nursery and my gran facing all the bills and mortage. The nursery is now overgrown and in a shambles with two properties on the site which are in ruins and hardly livable my gran and aunty refuse to sell due to my grandads hard work. I would love it if you could come over and set up the nursery again for it to be sold to someone who will carry on my grandads dream and build two new houses for my gran and aunty to live in close to my grandads dream and hard work he was the greatest man i have ever known and loved by so many. Thankyou

  15. Dear extreme makeover, Me and my family of seven children recently purchased a 2bedroom/gargage ranch. This house sits on a large acers and has been sitting for 3 to 4 years. Thus far, the gargage has been converted into 4 rooms, allowing space for my family to sleep. However, it is an old ranch house with weak flooring, old cloth electicial wiring, mold from pior leaks, leaky roof and still no room for my family. I have NO more money to do the necessary repairs needed. I have three boys of my own, my sister who pasted away two girls, grandson and adopted 13yr old. I really need to continue keeping them safe and is asking for help. This would not only help my family it will enhance the support of the community into making us to become one big happy community.

  16. I am writing this on behalf of my cousin that so desparately needs a second chance in life. She lost her husband to a heart attack that killed him instantly. She didn't even get to tell him good bye and how much she loved him.Needless to say she has had a sruggle ever since her loss of her husband. There are many days she has felt like there was nothing to live for until her only child had a grandson. Her grandson brought some life back into her but her health started failing. She was laid off from her job of a long number of years and due to her health has been unable to work since. She keeps her grandson to help her daughter out while she works and tries to go to school to make something of herself. She can't afford the medicines she needs so greatly to help improve her quality of life. Her trailer is about to fall to pieces and doesn't have the money to fix it. I could go on and on with her life's events that have held her back from being able to regain control back of her life but I'm running out of comment line. She needs and deserves an extreme home makeover just as many people do in this world. Please consider her for this home makeover.

  17. Hi ABC, I would like to see that my grandmother is looked into getting a home makeover. I am 19 years old and I was basically raised by my grandmother due to the fact of my mother working to raise to households. My grandmother has been care of two of her grandchildren because their mother and father passed away when they were young. She is unable to work and has just recently been diagnosed with Dementia. She is not capable of being alone so my oldest cousin cannot move out and she has three children. The house is very small and falling apart but no one is financially able to fix it up because of health issues with the kids and grandmother. She is known around the neighborhood for catering and cooking but is slowly having to stop doing the things she loves. I pray there is some way that she can be helped by you all. Thanks so much in advance for your time.

  18. Hello, my name is Angie Reardon. My husband I have been married for almost 4 years and we have two beautiful children. We are hard working adults and have been through many tough times, but have made it through. We starred on the Dr. Phil Get Real Retreat a few years ago dealing with addiction, but have since became a success story as we started over and my husband got his self together and got back up on top. We sold our newer home we had to get over the debt we had incurred and now live in a smaller house and a lot smaller space. We would like to remodel our home to have more space for our girls and more closet space, but money is limited at this time due to the tough economy. We just need a little help to achieve our goals and become closer knit without the hassle of disorganization due to lack of space. I could go into more detail regarding my husband's addiction, but that is in the past and now we all live happy lives. It was rough though. My husband and I both work very hard. Are very involved in teh community and with our girls..any advice or help you can give to cut corners to help us incur more space without a big price is appreciated. i love your show and would love for your crew to come in and help us out with space issues. Our home is built in the 1970's and is a 3 small bedroom, tiny closets, one bathroom, kitchen, living room for a square footage of 960 with a older cinderblock garage. Shelving and remodeling priced would be around $90,000…we just dont have the money to get this done as we are still revolving from the tragic events prior. Thank you for your consideration. I hope you can help even as a remodel. Our kitchen is tore up right now as we just dont have the skills or the money now to incur the replacement of how the kitchen should be.
Thanks again and God bless you.

    Angie Reardon

i would just like "this ole house" to do a show on how to recover a older smaller home
into a efficient organized one with the space we currently have, but we really would like to add a upstairs for the children.

  19. My name is Julia Boatright. I suffer from from pain everyday due to Lupas/ITP. I have two children although one has graduated high school and moved out. My 14 year old daughter, who has the biggest and sweetest heart ever is still at home and in middle school about to pass on to high school. My husband is a wonderful man but, unable to work due to a car accedent he was in a few years ago. We struggle everyday because I am on disability and only get 700$ every month for us to live on (our rent is 500$ each month, and utilities at least 180$ each month) I need help despritly. We also have no way of transpertation. I just want my daughter's life to be normal, but I don't get enough money to do that. I've always believed in miracles, and you guys always make them happen for alot of people and i hope I get to be one of those people. Thank you.

  20. Hi, I am 18 years old and I am writing to ask for a home for my grandparents. They adopted my sister and I after we were taking away from our parents because of substance abuse. We were in foster care off and on for four years and my grandparents got us when we were 5 and 6. They also adopted my cousin when my aunt could not take care of him because she was only 14 when she got pregnant. They gave everything they could to give us a loving and stable home environment to live in. My Grandmother Judith Ostby and Grandfather Joesph Ostby used to be able to keep our house up to date but since my grandmother has fallen ill with diabetes, diverticulitis, diverticulosis, sclerosis of the liver, two herniated disks in her spine, and hardening of the stomach arteries we cant afford to renovate our home. Its hard to pay the doctor bills and everything. Both my sister and I are working as much as we can while still being in high school to help lessen the financial burden. They deserve this home renovation more than anyone in this world. They have given the world for us, now its time we give back.

  21. Hello my name is Sherie Cavins! I am a senior this year. Through out the last part of my day I go up to the elementary school and cadet teach for a 4th grade class. We are currently about to put on a think pink basketball game for cancer patients. There is a little boy that is in the third grade that goes by the name of Memphis Riker. This summer he was playing in his baseball game and fell. He had been complaining about his knee, and he finally got it test done. They soon diagnosed Memphis with Osteosarcoma, which is a bone cancer. He started his treatments, and not long after the cancer spread to his lungs. Memphis is still fighting this battle. His parents had to quit their jobs in order to be with Memphis for his treatments. They travel two hours for treatment, and occasionally get to bring him home. They are fighting many problems in their life, but most of all the battle with Memphis. I believe this family is in great need of your support Ty. God Bless you!
    Sherie Cavins

  22. Hello my name is Connie Clark. I am writing for my mom and dad, they have owned their home for 37 years. They have always worked until about 10 years ago. My dad had to take an early retirement do to medical reasons. He is on oxygen and is in and out of the hospital with a blood disorder. My mom had to retire due to medical also, she has had both hips replaced, a shoulder operation, she also has high blood pressure. They stuggle everyday with they finances and can not do the upkeep on the house.
The kitchen floor needs to be repaired, they have heat only in the living room and their bedroom. There is mold in the bathroom and the paint is peeling all the time. They have window air conditioners but they only cool the kitchen and their bedroom, so when it is hot outside it is out inside also.
My parents have always helped my sister, brother and I out when we needed it, even if they couldn't afford it. It is now our turn to do something for them.
My dad likes to build things but he has to walk to the back of the yard and go in a trailer to do this. Which has no heat or air in it.
can you please help my parents and give them a new place to call home.
    Thank you very much
    Connie Clark

  23. Hi my name is Jonathan,Idk how to start here with this im 39 years old I live with my mom .Sense I was 7 it has been very on my mom she and my dad divorced ,Mom had me and my sister and she was a house wife and had to find a job.It hasnt been easy cause the day that divorce came my dad wanted his money back and mom had to pay it and shes been paying that ever sense I have done my best to do what I can we dont have alot of and times have been rough. This house was built by my uncle in 1967 and its falling apart. It has very bad termite damage and it cant be fixed theres so much damage.I know my story may not be like most but thers alot of bad memories in this home things I cant forget. All I ever wanted was to give my mom a home and it hurts very much and it weighs on my mind alot.I cry most days and pray but the memories are still there. My mom did all she could at the time of the divorce she still owes 60 sum thousand on a broken home.I hate being here cause of the many things has happen. My dad came and got me 1 weekend he was drunk he pushed my mom to the floor and she fell in a book case it wasnt big just a plastic book case held 20 books it ment alot to me as a kid,I shake that memory from my mind and all the other memories. Im not begging any1 here.I just wish there was some hope before she leaves this world.I pray hard to God about all this. Thank you for your time Jonathan.

  24. Im not sure how this whole thing works or even know if someone will see it. Im 15 years old and im reaching out for help. Recently my family has moved and we've had to adjust to new changes. My mom and dad split up and my mom now is engaged. In our single-wide trailer there is a total of 7 people, including my infant twin brothers. We have no space in our mobile home and barely have enough money to live off of. Its a miracle that we are alive on peanut butter and ramen noodles. Most of our money goes towards buying water because we cant drink from the tap. My mom can't get a job because she is in poor health. She has torn muscles multiple times in her back and slipped a disk. So you can see how that would affect getting a job. Also, i have a ten year old sister, and an eighteen year old brother. My sister sleeps either on the living room couch or on an air mattress in the living room floor. My brothers room is barely bigger than the bathroom (which constantly needs maintenance) our toilet stays backed up and our bathtub pipes once burst, leaking water into my closet and destroying all of my things…When we moved, the movers took our tie downs so our house constantly shakes and i live in fear of it falling down. The space we have is limited and we dont even own a trash can. Please help us. Also, my mom's bathtub has flooded her room a total of three times that i can remember and the inner wall is a victim of mildew. The babies have to sleep in my mom's room with that mildew and possible mold. One of the babies has asthma (so we think). The twins were premature and we need a safe home for them. I dont know what we're going to do when they get older. They'll have no bedroom to play in and our yard is a disaster. We have oil pumps all over the property and none of them are protected by any sort of fence. Please, for the safety of my family…help us! We need a bigger, safer house. One that wont give my disabled mother and injured step dad a hard time while raising 5 kids.
another thing. Me and my mom were in a car wreck a year ago and I'm in constant pain. I suffered from multiple internal bruises. On impact I smashed my face against the front driver's seatbelt guide. I chipped a tooth which can not be repaired and permanately damaged the vertebrae in my neck. I would love to have a comfortable bed to come home to rather than a small mattress laying on my floor.
My brother is doing all he can to help us. He is in training to be an EMT and is also trying to get certification as a pastor. He wants to be the one to marry off my mom and step dad. Right now, because of moving…Im very worried about my education and social life. I am currently being homeschooled for fear of going to the local school which ive heard so many things about. We live in Hosston Louisiana. I had to leave in the middle of my sophomore school year and didnt even have the opportunity to take mid term tests. If im going to continue my studies at home Id like a nice quiet place to get away from the noise. Between the oil pumps outside, my step dads radio shows (which he does all from the living room), and babies constantly screaming, i can never concentrate. Please, please help us
darn. just one more thing. Our trailer house is weak. It was originally meant to be someone's lake house, so it wasnt built too tough. we have holes everywhere throughout both hallways and have used pictures to cover up the ones in the living room. mice and roaches love to find their way inside and ive actually woken up to a mouse running across my legs. our house is a living nightmare…all of our smoke detectors are broken or need new covers and our fireplace leaks in the rain. our carpet has no cusion whatsoever and there are dangerous cracks and particles on the floors that are unfit for raising babies.
somehow i failed to mention that our water heater is messed up. we constantly have to reset it and most nights we cant even shower because the water is so cold. when it isnt cold, its too hot to touch. ive popped blood vessels from the heat before and its unsafe for bathing the babies. also, our microwave doesnt turn and our oven elements keep going out. they have been replaced time after time. our washer doesnt work properly and ive done my best to help out. i used the money that i got from our car wreck to buy a new dryer for the house. but things just arent working.all of us have asthma and we dont even have a working air conditioner. just a little unit in the front window. its hard to get to sleep at night because i cant breathe and its too hot and uncomfortable.

    1. by the way. everyone living in the home is My step dad, my mom, my eighteen year old brother, my ten year old sister, me (who is fifteen) not only do we depend on my step dad to take care of us, but he still helps out his son (who is also eighteen) and is our neighbor. we are all constantly stressed and give all of the help we can…but i dont know how much longer i can try to squeeze things through small hallways with my bad back. we need space! if anything i just want a bigger trailer home. we really need this. God, please let this work.

  25. My name is Tonya Osier and I am disabled along with my husband JR, who is now disabled too after a brain aneurysm last year and suffered many strokes and a huge frontal cortex brain bleed. Despite what little we have, we have taken in my 7 year old great neice to live with us. Lilly, my great neice, hasn't had a stable life until she came to live with us. When her mother asked if Lilly could stay, I couldn't say no because I know what I am not able to give her in a broken and damage home, I can give her in love, devotion, stability, and support. I spend my days taking care of my husband JR who can not drive and be left alone, and taking care of Lilly. I take her to school and pick her up, and try my best to help her with homework since she is behind in school. We have a home that is more than 60 years old with a cracked foundation, a bad roof with some parts of our ceiling caved in, a lot of water damage due to the city sewer overflowing into our property a few years ago, and now, mold. We are unable to make these repairs ourself due to our condition. We have looked over the costs and can not afford the major repairs to the foundation, the roof, the wiring, the water damage, etc. I also spend as much time with my grand daughther Alexus as much as possible. It would be so nice to have a home that is free from repairs so that I can take care of JR the right way. I would be so greatful to have a home free of mold and damage to take care of Lilly, and give her something she has never had. I would be so appreciative to have a home that my grand daughter Alexus, who I am very close to can come and stay with me and have memories of us together when I am no longer here.

  26. Hello my name is Violet and Im a 22 yr old mother of 4. I was lucky enough to have 3 parents growing up. Although not my biological parets, my 2 uncles and great grandma raised me. She was my mom and she has passed away along with one of my uncles. I have 1 more left and he adopted me while I was in school. Well the house we are living in is no where near living conditions. It was built in the early 40's by my Great Grandfather. Its a 2 bed/2ba house. My husband and I along with our 4 kids sleep in one and My uncle/Dad sleep in the bedroom with the restroom.Foundation is off suprised its still standing. No central heat or air. dangerous wiring. No insulation so winters and summers are horrible. Water overflows in the restroom when i do Laundry or dishes. The list goes on. Please help my family!

  27. Hi i am Tiffany Bredesen. I am 17 years old from a small town called Racine minnesota. I am from a large family of 11 kids and life hasn't been the easiest the last couple years. In 2011 both of my parents were in the hospital. Mom with kidney stones and dad had stents put in his heart. This was a hard time for us beacuse my dad had lost his cleaning buisness a couple years before this and that same year my mom lost her job as a manager. We were super low on money and then the barn burnt down and our house has fallen apart. Its over 100 years old and we cant afford to do much with it but plug in heaters to the plug ins that work and hope we will stay warm. PLEASE help my family!! They could really use something.

  28. hi< my name is Asia Grubbs, I am from a small town in Mississippi. I am writing hoping that you would help my grandfather, he is 85 years old and his home has alot of damages due to tornados. The roof leaks and in the winters it is very cold inside the home due to the old foundation. All my life he has been a very strong man, and took the responcibility of raising my brother and I from a very early age. I have tried grants and homeowners loans, but i havent had any luck. He is the chairman of the deacon board at our church, where he is a very active member, even at his age. He is the type of man that helps every person that he can, although they sometimes tend to hurt him, he never turns anyone away. I would really like to help him, but I don't have any money, just like him. The house needs new wiring, a new roof, and some of the windows are even still brokem, because of the contractors. Different ones came along and claimed they were going to fix the problems, and took off with the money. He cried, I cant stand to see my grandfather cry, and it made me very sad. His home isnt livable, but he refuses to leave. Please help us, so just in case he does get sick, his home can be fit enough for us to take care of him. Please help us.

    1. another thing.

      1. sorry for the multiple posts. I have one more comment.

      2. darn. just one more thing. Our trailer house is weak. It was originally meant to be someone's lake house, so it wasnt built too tough. we have holes everywhere throughout both hallways and have used pictures to cover up the ones in the living room. our house is a living nightmare

      3. somehow i failed to mention that our water heater is messed up. we constantly have to reset it and most nights we cant even shower because the water is so cold. when it is hot, its too hot to touch. ive popped blood vessels from the heat before and its unsafe for bathing the babies. also, our microwave doesnt turn and our oven elements keep going out. they have been replaced time after time. our washer doesnt work properly and ive done my best to help out. i used the money that i got from our car wreck to buy a new dryer for the house. but things just arent working.

  31. HI, my name is megan and im writing you for my mom. My mom is the greatest, she would do anything for anyone, always sacrifice for me and my autistic little brother Andy, and she ALWAYS put herself last. Even when she had nothing left to give, she would always make sure that me and andy were always taken care of. Well on october 3rd my mom, my hero had a major stroke that affected her right side of her body, and her speech. Unfortunately, my andys birthday was 2 days later. My mom is our rock, our hero…To see that she has no money, and that she is in jeopardy of loosing the one thing that means the most to her. A place to live. Her house is going to need a lot of work…she is working on learning how to walk again, learning how to move her right arm, and learning how to talk again. This whole experience is just a nightmare, and i hate seeing my hero having so much determination to get better for me and Andy, when in reality she might not even have a place to call her home when she gets better. Please help my mom with her house, please. I dont know what else to do. Thank you for even considering my mom.

  32. I am Desperate I have a bizarre disease called BOOP. You only get it once I have had it 3 times. They just put me in a 10 day medically induced coma to keep me alive. We are desperate Please contact us you are are only HOPE !!!!!!!!!!!

  33. Hello my name is Sharil Wilderness I am writing because I would be so thrilled to see you & your team come and remodel my grandmother's home. She & my grandfather helped raise me & my sister. She help me to become the young lady I am.She taught as a preschool teacher for the Head Start program for a very long time. When I was growning up she would take me to church & also give a ride to others that needed a ride. She served as an usher in the church for many years. She was also a great cook she use to cook really big meals. She has done so much for so many people that I just can't tell it all.The past few years she has dealt with diabetes, that led to her having her right leg amputated on Feb.2010,she made it through surgery & received physical therapy. Then the challenge came of her gowing home, because she lived alone but did have children in the area that could help her, that also had families to care for.And was going home in a wheel chair. My Aunt Betty(her oldest daughter) that lived in Columbus,Ohio gave up her job & moved back to the small town of Howardville,Missouri, which is a small town in New Madird County to help take care of my grandmother. My grandmother's house is about 34 years old it has had some remodeling done on it several times, which was done by my Uncle Donnell when he was living,he use to do an assume job.The past few years the floors in the house had started sinking, but she didn't want to leave because the house had so many memories.A short time after my aunt & her son moved there to help take care of grandma one night they heard a loud sound and woke up to the floor in the sitting room that had seperated from the foundation and they could see the ground from inside the house they blocked off the room and continued to stay there eventually the house started shifting from the foundation. The insurance that she has carried on the house since she lived there didn't cover any of the repairs. They had to move my grandmother out of the house. My aunt found a 2 bedroom apartment for them to live in.That was a downsize for my grandmother because she moved from a 3 bedroom,2 bathroom house. She had to put most of her belongings in storage because there is no room in the apartment. And of course the apartment is not wheelchair accessible,my Uncle Jed did find a piece of wood to use as a ramp for her to come out of the house. She has a power chair but don't have enough room to use it inside the house.Through all this she doesn't complain. She will be 76 next month. She enjoys going to church but don't want to be a burden on others transporting her to church, but my Uncle Jed & his family or my Aunt Betty transport her to church in their vehicles. She really misses being able to cook and sit outside of her house. She is very well known by everyone in the community where her house is and it would be a blessing to see her return to her home. The house is still standing, barely anyway. She would love to see her home rebuilt and it would be a honor for me to see this happen for her after all she has done for me & so many others. It would be an honor to see you guys do this for her and I would make sure I be in town if this dream of mine would come true.Keep up the good work you guys do.

    Thanks
    Sharil Wilderness,grandma's favorite girl

In my grandmother's room theres a crack going down the wall and we're scared that when a big storm hits the crack in the wall will grow bigger. Downstairs we had a flood and my pop and i had to shovel the water into plastic boxes and dump it into the washing machine and then run it so it would run out. The basement looks really bad we dont even have a ceiling down there. My room is small and its barely big enough for all of my stuff i have. Neither is my grandmother's. My pop sleeps in the living room with his air breathing tank so he can breath at night. Thanks. Please please please please pick my family and i to have a extreme home makeover! Please.

  35. Dear Extreme Home Makeover,

Your program is more than just a show on primetime television. Your show is a picture of one life-changing event. I'm writing in hopes that you'll find favor in a family I'm particularly fond of and change their lives as well.

I just received a phone call from my mother. On Saturday I visited her and my father and returned home with a carload of her belongings. All of their possesions are currently kept in a storage unit. In order to avoid another daunting monthly charge, her goal is to empty the storage unit by the end of this month. Today she was calling to ask if I could take her teapots. I carelessly proclaimed that I just didn't have room for much more in my apartment and that I wasn't sure I could take them. Silence ensued and after a moment I called out to my mom and in tears she replied, "I just don't want to get rid of all my things…I want a my own space again. I love my things. I want to hang my family photos. Its so hard to give my special keepsakes away and decide what I can and can't keep!" She emotionally stated that we would talk later. The first thing that came to my mind was your program.

My father is a self-employed tile contractor of over 30 years. At the age of 63, he was diagnosed with osteoporosis and is no longer able to work as he used to. My younger years are characterized by memories of a man who worked literally from the wee hours of the morning until hours after the sun went down at night, winter, spring, summer and fall. His work ethic and attention to detail was unmatched. However, every dime he made went to paying bills and putting food on the table for his family of six (mom, dad and four kids). Often I would visit him at work or actually go to work with him and my heart would sink as he tiled extravagant houses and mansions of doctors, lawyers and other wealthy proffessionals or retired professionals. To me, it was always so ironic that many of these individuals couldn't see the man that I saw in my dad. He has many times been taken advantage of for the reduction of a dollar. He's had to wait for payment while these individuals were on vacation and we struggled to eat until they could return. Don't get me wrong, I don't judge a man who can turn a dollar into a million. In fact I admire someone who can. What I can't admire is prolonging payment to an individual who works hard to take care of his family.

My parents have never turned anyone away. My siblings would agree that we've likely not had one Christmas without sharing it with someone who literally wouldn't have a family to celebrate had it not been for the generosity of my parents taking them in. When I say a Christmas without sharing it with others, I mean those individuals had meals, clothes and heat that they wouldn't have had. Mom had never turned anyone away from a meal and dad has never denied anyone his last dollar. I've witnessed many accounts of each them giving sacrificially of themselves to see a smile on the face of friends and strangers alike. Material possessions aren't necessarily of their concern and never have been, but when nearing the end of ones life it's difficult to look back and realize there's nothing to show for the hard work and sacrifices made. To give everything remaining away just to maintain a roof over your head is hardly icing on the cake. I can imagine it must feel like another shovel of dirt on one's coffin. I couldn't take the tears of my mother when she retreated from our conversation today. She feels as if she has nothing but her children left.

As generous as my parents have always been, it has been a challenge to watch them struggle and be unable to help them as they have helped so many others. There have been times that I have been agree that their kindness and generosity wasn't returned until recently when my mother's childhood friend and cousin caught the grasp of the severity of their struggle. She took them in and asked them to stay with her indefinitely. My parents gratefully accepted her invitation, but the reality is that this house is not theirs to display important and memorable pieces or to have family visit at will or to baby sit the grand babies, etc. Everything is subject to the approval of another. At the ages of 52 and 63, that is a hard situation to swallow. Can you join me in helping to make my parent's dream come true? They literally have nothing and have worked so hard to make sure that everyone around them had everything they could provide. There are many more details. I'd be glad to share them all.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post and for considering my parents as contestants for the 2012 Extreme Home Makeover.

Many blessings to you, your family and all the families whose lives have been touched and changed by your generosity.

  36. I am Lakeisha, I would like for my grandmother to get a home makeover. She is 86 years old and never had any repairs done to her home since it was build back in the 7o's. My grandfather passed away four years ago, and was place on hospice. Therefore, the home was not equipped enough to set up hospital equipment to make him comfortable. The home did not have enough room space or space to put medical equipment to transport him from place to place. I would like my grandmother to no have to through this if she ever needs some type of medical equipment in the home. My grandmother has one handicapped child lives with her. He is handicapped, he suffers from a stroke and is paralyzed on right side. My uncle also has a hard time getting around in his room as well. The most difficult time he experience is using the bathroom area. It is not handicapped equipped and he has difficulty getting in and out of tub. Also, the home bathrooms running water does not flow proplery, the streams runs very slowing, and she sometims have to use a pan to take baths. It would be amazing if my grandmother and paralyzed uncle could win a homemake over.

  38. hello my name is Diane Pagel, I am 56 years old. I lived in Croswell Michigan. I am writing to you so hopefully you can help with home improvments. There are 11 people living in my home. I have 7 grandchildren who live with me. Their ages are remi-2, kylee-3, shane-6, madison & olivia-8, megan-13, and sabrina-16. I have custody of kylee, megan, shane, and sabrina.
Their mother is in prison for at least 30 years for murder and their father passed 3 years ago. Of all these grandchildren olivia is my only blood related but in my eyes they are all my grandchildren. Remi the 2 year old is deaf. and olivia has a gentic diease called NF2. Her mother who is my ex-daughter-in-law who also lives with me and has the same diease. Sarah and Richard who is the mother and father of madison and remi also live here. Sarah has type one brital diabetes. Neither one of them can find work. They help watch the children so i can work full time. My husband passed 2 years ago due to heart failure. While he was alive he enjoyed the children and made a good home for us. He tried to do as much as he could to get our home fixed up for everyone. The house is old and the plumbing is starting to rust and crack. We've had serverl small floods. No molding on windows and door frames. Our house looks big but for this size of family the living area is not big enough. There's no heat in the back bedrooms. Our electric and gas bill are high because of poor insulation. The basement is unfinished and thats also used as bedrooms. Thank you so much for reading this, we would appreciate your help.

  39. hey, my name is Michaela Boger I am 15 years old. My mom has undergone 4 surgeries on her foot and will need more. There is a high risk that they may have to amputate her foot. She cannot get around the housee because of the small hallways and stairs. My mom is my hero, she's taught me to fight for what i want and deserve. She lost the love of her life, and I think all of this she has gone through has made her stronger. she has proved to me that no matter who you are and what you go through you can make it through. She had a stroke in 2007 andd has fought to go back to work (shes a pre-k teacher) she loves kids so much. she is the best mother I could ask for I'd do anything for her, I feel like this is the only thing i can do.

My dad had a stroke in 2009, it affected his speech, but he still brightens my day.♥

Our house is falling apart. the garage door will not open and is rotting off and cold air comes through and brings cold air up into the bedrooms. We have mold downstairs. The hallways are too small to fit a wheelchair for my mom, so its a struggle for her to get to the bathroom.
This is just a few of our problems, please contact me, I want to help my mommy.

Thanks, hopee to hear from you.
    Michaela Boger♥

  41. Hi, my name is Alison kinnee, and I'm fifteen years old.
I watch yalls show every day it comes on. I see the way you bless these families and I have always hoped that one day you will he able to bless us in the same way.
My family and I live in a small town called Rio Vista, Texas. There is six of us in the house, which is a two bedroom. Mom and my step dad sleep in the master bedroom, and Michael sleeps in the other bedroom. Me, max, and gracie rotate between sleeping on the living room floor and the couches, which happen to be breaking down. I know these families that you help are usually these exrodinanry people, but my mom deserves this. She is the most amazing person I know. We were taken away from her by cps about seven years ago, because she made a mistake one day of doing meth. She did EVERYTHING she could to get us back, and once my dad beat me and my brother Michael, she was able to have us move back in since she had been clean for years. We have been living in this house for about five years. We try to add on all the time, but we just don't have the money. Everytime we want to add on some, something cones up, like this time our heater is broken. Some day I would like to wake up and my little brother and sister be sleeping in a BED. I honestly don't care if I don't get a bedroom, I just want them to have one. No eight and nine year old shoukd have to sleep on the floor. Mom tries, she really does, but she just can't do it. Mom is going through online college, to try and help get more money from income, but all its doing is throwing away what little money we have. I'm not here to share a sob story, I just want mom to be happy again.
    Please, please help us.
    Love,
    Alison kinnee.

  49. Hello, my name is Sarah and I'm writing because I would be incredibly grateful if you could help my mother. In short, my mother had me young and has made incredible sacrifices for my brother and I. My mother regretfully and unknowingly (at first) married an abusive and controlling man. I don't appreciate or condone that he hurt my mother, but have forgiven him and still care deeply for him. I recall when I was about 13yrs old encouraging my mother to get a divorce. She warned me that it would be difficult and that we (brother and I) would not have a lot of the same privileges. I told her that I loved her enough to endure the loss of all those privileges because life is short and I explained that I didn't want for her one day to look back on her life sitting on a nice porch full of regret. Now some 15 plus years later I'm happy to say that my mother did follow through and get a divorce within that year, but has struggled financially ever since. Now as an adult woman I dream about being in a position where I could build a home, a safe sanctuary for my mother where I could join her on that porch and say see I told you everything was going to be all right.

  50. Hi, we are the Oakley family. We live in a small town in California. We have four incredible, beautiful children, Melanie (25) James (23) Mike (18) and Matt (16). Melanie is married. Our other children live at home. This is where we need help. You see, James is severely-autistic with self-injurious behaviors. He requires 24 hour protective supervision. James is not aggressive. He doesn't hurt others. James can't help what he does. About 10-25% of people with severe autism suffer from self-injurious behaviors. James is extremely handsome. He doesn't talk. Has never said a word, though it's possible he still could. My wife is James' greatest advocate. She has fought for years for James when almost everyone else gave up on him. When James was destined to end up in a state institution she fought for full-time in-home nursing care so we wouldn't have to place James in a state institution, where he would've surely died. His care is too complex. My wife is the expert in his type of autism. The amount of work that goes into medically and behaviorally managing him is almost surreal. Nursing care in our home for James has been a mixed blessing. Once we got it, we lost most of the downstairs of our home (James's bedroom has to be downstairs). We've taken to running into kitchen (which is in need of repairs), making something to eat, bolting upstairs and hiding in our rooms for privacy and peace. Our home is not built for 24 hour nursing care. It's A LOT of wear and tear on a home. It's not that we don't love James and appreciate the nursing care. I'd like to spend time with my wife and other children without nurses running all over with our autistic son being right where you'd normally talk, read mail, eat dinner, prepare food or even get a glass of water. My wife is growing weary. She is torn between always being in middle of action, when she should be enjoying her home now and relaxing. She's spent over 20 years fighting for James (he was diagnosed with severe autism at age 2). We so need a separate area, on other side of home, where nurses could have their own kitchen and bath area (James loves taking baths and splashes everywhere). There must be a way we could all enjoy our home. The front door also opens to the kitchen. This is where James and nurses come in and out all day on weekends. James is obsessed with walking outside and coming back in home for a drink of water. It's hard to relax downstairs when this goes on. The walls our thin, so even upstairs we hear all the noise. Our solar water heater is about to slide off the roof. (I'm working on it). We live on 2 acres so it's possible to make changes. A walking path for James and nurses would be great. I have no clue where to begin or even how we could. I'm a Fire Captain. I save people from burning buildings and rescue people from crumbled cars, yet I can't fix this situation. It pains me to see my wife and children not be able to enjoy our home. My wife used to love to write. She's a great writer. She rarely writes anymore. I think she's just given up on anything changing in the home setting. She's looked at putting mobile home on property but it's unrealistic. James' has too many medical and behavioral needs. She is afraid of not having James nursing care area attatched to house on property in case of behavioral emergency. As for other kids, Mike loves to draw. Matt loves to build things and wants to become a police officer. James brothers have seen things most kids will never see. To witness your brother slamming his fists into head is tough, but they are tough kids. I want my wife and home back without having to have my autistic son live outside the home. My wife has always had a dream to help educate others how to better care for severely-autistic adults with self-abusive behaviors. For the home we have, she has done an incredible job setting up our son's nursing care. Nurses could stay in a hotel for a few days with James if the house were remodeled. He loves pools and to see new places. He also loves tennis courts (obsesively walks around net). He's got 24 hr. care. And it might be fun for nurses. We have great nurses by the way. It takes a special nurse to work with this type of autism. God bless you all for how many people you've helped. If it's meant to be, we'll be one of them. Thanks for listening to our story. Mark Oakley.

  51. hi…my story starts with my father..he was diagnosed with parkinsons disease several years ago..as the years have ticked by, i have seen him reduced to a different man, i saw him try to do everything without asking for help..the pride taking over..thinking he can still things ..to being a man that can only sit in a chair and hardly walk….he lives with my mom in a small farmhouse,,bathroom in basement..old plumbing..so to use the facilities, he must go down into the basement..my mom cares for his needs..she has her room in the attic..but must go down to help him and then down again to the bathroom…i would love to have them have laundry and bath on the main floor..its hard on my mother and almost impossible for my father..i'm looking for any help on getting this accomplished. thanks for listening and thanks for your time and consideration

  52. Hi, my names is Destiney Guerrero. I am 17 yrs, and i have a 4month old daughter. i live in a house that my mom pays rent for. She doesn't own, and she never has. She had me at 15, she is a mother of 5 and has a boyfriend who has no job at the moment for the past few months. He is a father of four, but only two come to stay. My 15 yr old sister is pregnant, she is due in April. That will make 11 people who live in our four bedroom house. I and my family would be very grateful if we were chosen for this. Me and my baby share a room, my two sisters share an upstairs room, its very frightening to know my sister gets up at night and walks down th stairs with the possibilty of falling. My two brothers and my moms boyfriends two sons share the biggest room which was a garage and is now there room with th washer and dryer in there right when you walk in, my mom and her boyfriend have the other room. We have one bathroom, no shower just a small tub, and a total of two closets. My boyfriend and I may marry by june, he may move in too to be closer to the baby. Making that twelve people in our house. My mom tries her best to get her family what they need. And all I ask is for you to give our family a chance for a better way of living. Please help my family, I know we may not be the family that needs help the most, and I hope every other family out there gets the help they need. We have a home, food, clothing, thank god for that, we are very grateful for that but it would really mean so much to me, and I know very well that my mother, siblings, and the rest of the family would appreciated if we had that chance to live in a better way. Thank you and god bless

  53. My Pastor and wife had made their home a spot for ministry meetings, teen movie nights, praise and worship music rehearsals, and members who have had knowhere to turn and showed up in the middle of the night. They've also fed and held more guests than the living room/dinig room can comfortably hold. They're kitchen is large enough for only two people (at best) to move around comfortably. The basement and laundry room needs HELP!!! I honestly think they just don't have the time and honestly lack the discipline. My pastor and wife shuttle the youth around in their family van and make 1hour trips on any given weekened to pick up the out-of-town members. They've labored! Labored! labored! and I believe it is God's Will that You all Bless Them. Their hearts are clean but there home is cluttered and very small for all that they do and the people they've welcomed into their house. Please help them. AMEN!

  54. I really need your help. I am a caregiver for the disabled and I have a lady named Jessica Dobos that is very sick living in a small shack on her property that only has a foundation for a house. She is very sick with diabetes and high blood pressure and other illnesses. She has been living with no real home since the city had to tear it down for the last five years. I would love to send you a video of her situation. She immigrated here from Romania( is now a citizen). she speaks five languages very smart and beautiful soul. I am hoping that you will take the time to email me and give me the chance to tell you and show you her story. She really needs your show. It would be such a miracle. When I told her that I have a computer and will contact you with the hope you might help she started crying. She has no family here and is completely alone. She spent years working in the medical profession taking care of babies. A series of events caused her to become disabled and now is living in unamerican conditions. After being of service to the community for so many years it is such a tragedy the she would be all alone and living the way she is with no one to help her. I seriously believe that you and america will be touched with her story. Please give me that chance to video tape her situation and story. I look forward to receiving a reply from you. Laura Tohom

  55. I'm hoping you can help my dear friend Dennis Lynch. His houseboat, which was his home, his pride and joy, and his main source of income just sank (due to a freak accident) along with everything he owned! The houseboat was filled with stained glass piees (which Dennis designed and repaired), his tools, clothing, etc.. The boat sank in 90 seconds – everyone onboard (including his dog) barely escaped with their lives! Dennis is an amazing, multi-talented personality – a former star dancer (Joffrey Ballet) Broadway, The White House, and dance teacher (ballroom, tango), handyman/builder (he renovated a 1761 log cabin in the Adirondacks), and a Vietnam war hero with an amazing spirit – and a boatload of charm!

  56. Hi my name is Jacob Walsh, and this isn't for me it's for my mother. Her name is Michelle Sheahan, age 41, her husband's name is Robby, age 31, Robby's daughter's name is Desi, age 13, and they care for her great nephew colten, age 2. Colten suffered a traumatic injury when he was a toddler that has scarred him for life. My mother and Robby dropped everything they had and were doing to help him. They took him in and care for him as if he was their son. He can't talk and most likely never will. He doesn't know how to crawl or walk, and doesn't know how to use his arms or hands. Colten sees multiple therapist all the time. My mom and Robby both work full time jobs and my mom is also going to school to be a medical office administrator so the time they would have to themselves or to go out with friends they are home with colten. Colten requires alot of equipment that's helping try and walk like gait trainers. But he doesnt have the space to really use them in. My mom and her family need some help and I'd really appreciate it if you guys chose them. Thank you.

  60. – hey, my names lexy chambers and im currently 14 years old. I live with my mom, brother, and my grandmother. My brother is diagnosed with Cerebel palsey. He can't walk nor talk. It's very hard to see my brother struggle when he gets home from school bc his wheelchair can barley fit through the doors. His bedroom is very small & the burses that work for us to help us with him have a very hard time trying to give him baths & get him ready ect. Theres only 3 bedrooms in the hole house which means i have to sleep with my mom. That's very embarrasing for me especially when my friends come over and we have to sleep on the floor. Our house is in very bad condition & i pray every night that nothing bad happens to it bc if there was something to happen our house would be destroyed! my mom has seizers, and my grandmother is 69 & handicapped also. i try my best to do everything around the house to help them out but it just doesn't seem to work. we don't have a lot of money, and we dont have a car to go places. I don't have a dad bc he passed away 6/18/10. I just hope we get this free home makeover. That would make my dream come true for my family! i dont really know what to say here, but PLEASE HELP MY FAMILY!

  62. Hi, my name is Tina. My husband and I have been married or almost 12 years ( right out of high school). We have two beautiful girls one is 7 and the other is 4. When we first got married me and my parents rented a duplex, so when we got married we just bought it. It really makes things easier having my parents live near us. Our plan is one day to get a new house with a guest house for my parents. As of right now we still are unable to move, my husband and my dad work at the same place, and their hours got cut which is the primary source of income. This duplex we live in is in ok shape, but needs one thing a EXTRA bedroom it's only two bedrooms and one bath and our girls have to share a room. We had always thought of maybe building up so our girls could have their own room (ones in to Dora and the other Justin Berber ) so their rooms should defiantly show their own personalities. When we discovered how much that would cost we decided it was way to much to afford. I would so much appreciate it if you could help with our bedroom issue.
