American Ballet Theatre is casting supernumeraries (extras) for their production of The Sleeping Beauty at the Detroit Opera House. American Ballet Theatre will be returning to the Detroit area with a brand-new production of Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s monumental work. Presented in collaboration with the University Musical Society and performed with the Michigan Opera Theatre Orchestra, this classic ballet with more than 80 performers tells the enchanting tale of the beautiful princess cursed to sleep for 100 years by an evil sorceress, until awakened by the kiss of a handsome prince.
Synopsis Of The Show:
This classic story ballet premiered 125 years ago at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg. The story is one of the most familiar and enchanting of all fairy tales: the beautiful princess Aurora is cursed by the evil sorceress Carabosse to sleep for 100 years, until she is awakened by the kiss of a handsome prince. It’s ballet on the grandest possible scale, with superstar dancers, opulent sets and costumes, and Tchaikovsky’s ravishing score performed live by the Michigan Opera Theatre Orchestra.
Casting Description:
Seeking Adult & Teen Actors:
Men: 5’7” to 6’; Ages 16 to Mature; Slim to medium build
Women: 5’5” to 5’10”; Ages 16 to Mature; Various build
Rehearsals recommence 3/25. Extras will be needed for daytime and evening rehearsals from 3/25
to 3/31.
There will be no rehearsals Easter Sunday.
*Dance and / or Acting experience is a plus, but not necessary.
Audition Information:
