The Get Down is a new Netflix series that is set to premiere this year. The series is described as “a mythic saga of how New York at the brink of bankruptcy gave birth to hip-hop, punk and disco”. It takes in Bronx tenements, the SoHo art scene, CBGB, Studio 54 and the then newly built World Trade Center. The series stars Justice Smith,Herizen Guardiola, Shameik Moore, Skylan Brooks and T.J. Brown Jr.

Grant Wilfley Casting is looking for men and women to portray the following roles. This is for paid work as extras on the Netflix series that is produced by Baz Luhrmann. They are looking for big, muscular African American men and young (over 18 but play younger) African American and and Latino men and women. They need African American or Latino Bronx residents for scenes set in 1970s New York City for various shoot dates.
In general the casting team is looking for men with longer or shaggy hair and women with natural-looking hair (no shaved heads, extensions, braids, edging, etc.). If you would like to be on the set of the show, you must be okay working around smoke. This is for Filming Fall/Winter scenes through April 2016 in New York City. I'm Charlie, 20years old, French girl who live in London now. Why I should be part of this serie..? Maybe because I'm really motivated, even if I'm still young, I left my country and I'm studying Drama, Voice, Movement, Dance, Actor Combat, and also my English and my accent. I would like to be part of it, because I want to work, I want challenges, I want to start again after Paris.
It is perhaps not very original, but I feel it could be a perfect project for me…

I have the look you want in all areas. I know little to nothing about the era of this time, but i can assure that i can help this series be the best it can be. Even though this series is based on the 70's, the 80's helped me through the hard times in my life. So I've learned a lot and i can become any image you need for the series. I can also pop lock, which is a style of dancing. Wanting to act wasn't something that just came about. I was born to act on film! making up my own plays in front of my family for their entertainment was my passion and still is. Don't think anyone else that wants to be apart of this series wants it more then i do.
