I’m not sure what it is about Minnesota that makes you not want to go back. It could be the acres of useless farm land. It could be the droll and nasally colloquialisms like “EH!, and DONTCHYAKNOW! That the elderly have no qualms for screaming at you in a grocery store. Heck it might just be the mystery hot dish you know is waiting for you when you get back because your geriatric great aunt Ethel makes you constantly eat out of guilt because at some point along the way she fancied herself the best cook in the village and you just don’t have the heart to tell her that not everything goes well with mayonnaise.
Regardless of your reasoning, Minnesotans don’t do a few things well. Leaving, being one of them. And im not simply talking about the Minnesotan goodbye where one may find themselves saying goodbye and then take the next 10 minutes trying to get to the door still having a conversation. Its more that they don’t think there’s anywhere better than home where the rest of your family is, and most likely, has been for the past 200 years. They hope that you never leave, and you settle down with a nice girl of Scandinavian or Irish decent that probably is related to you at some point in those 200.
Yet, when one DOES leave, and actually see the world a bit, they cannot but feel that invisible chord be cut. They begin to see just how long they’ve been living in a time warp. The world is a bit different outside of Minnesota. Buildings are bigger. Towns are the size of cities. You find that girls can look very different than plump Scandinavians and Vegetarians are a normal occurrence as opposed to a sub sect of the Amish.
I have no doubt that going back would be scary. Just the thought alone of what one would do with their “Soda” boggles the mind. I think this is the long way of saying, “I understand the plot.”
Hi, my name is Josh, and I love to sing: compulsively so. It’s a gift that seems to make no apologies yet at times, comes to the detriment of manly outings like camping: video games, crocheting, and boxing. My friends have often asked me why I have so much zeal for a good song, but really I can’t explain it. To be honest, I’m not sure why exactly I think its prudent to jump out of the toilet singing an operatic version of Chamillionair‘s “Riding Durty” in the first place, but its become apparent that I really can’t live my life without doing so.
Its this same urge I have which most likely causes me to embarrass my girlfriend in shops. When Michael Jackson comes over the speaker system I become compelled to dance. I say I’m sorry obviously, but we both know full well that my apology means very little, cause more or less, we know I have no intention of stopping. But I suppose, sometimes you just can’t stop the beat, and I’ve made it quite apparent that I have no intention of doing so.
Don’t get me wrong, I’ve tried to put this energy into more constructive uses like some theatre, comic books and science, but this only furthered to turn me into a nerd who now who can throw down a mean rap on planet Krypton’s socio-economic struggles before it inevitably exploded. And let me tell you, it you attempt this, coagulant market is hard to rhyme with anything comic related UNLESS you’re a solar powered Clark Kent!
Anyway, aside from singing and dancing and an unhealthy knowledge of dungeons and dragons, I probably should state I have a decent amount of acting experience, from either spending a year in New Zealand working on t.v. and a bit of theatre. I find it fun, and I get a personal joy from entertaining.

I also know that im not the only one that gets really nervous in front of a crowd, BTR does sometimes but they manage to sing a silly song before they go on stage. I first would like to thank you for this wonderful opportunity for me to be a part of Nickelodeon with such an amazing group of casts and shows. Just the idea of working with a staff that has conquered all the odds since 1977 in a rating competition with Disney and succeed to the level that it is today, is just the team that I want to be a part of. Not to mention, what means the most to me is family values. I have learned at an early age in life, no matter what you have in life, it means nothing without your family or health. Growing up with that as my "mind set" that taught me to love and accept everyone, including my friends and school peers. I feel that I will make for a great "team member" with the cast and crew of Nickelodeon.
Of course, I could write you like 20,000 other kids who will write you about this being their dream. That would only make me just as normal as them. But please know, aside from that, I am not like them, I am truly a dedicated young lady who would not only think of this opportunity as a "dream come true", or a lot of fun, but a quest in my life to accomplish with the best of the best in family home entertainment. Other reasons of course that I would love the opportunity to be on Nickelodeon, is because Nickelodeon means growth potential to me.
If I were to be given the opportunity for an audition, I promise you that when I would appear in front of you, you would see a somewhat nervous 15 year old girl, who will surprise you, "wow" you, I am not experienced as many who have taken acting lessons and who have learned how to appear in front of an audience, but like, it is something that I cannot explain, when I am in front of a camera, (video or still) it is like an "inner me" comes out and says, lets have fun with this and entertain.
