  1. Hello. Our residence is located in Tucson AZ. This residence has heritage, charm, and 100 years of family history. Lillian Denies who was 2 weeks shy of 100, passed peacefully, leaving a beautiful piece of property to her family that she her husband started as a shack project in the very early 50's. This property has so much meaning to a family and community that loved Lillian so much! To be picked for a project of extreme home makeover on your show would mean so much to our family that currently residences there. Lillian's grandson and her 3 great grandchildren love the charm of this place, but can tell the personal touches of the place are deem unfit and not up to code of standard living. Afterall, the place was expanded, leaving the original front porch as the current living room and kitchen. Help us to bring this place pleasure to the community and continue Lillian's dream of raising family on this lot of land, purchased for pennies many years ago. Thank you

  2. my name is andy from south Africa we are a family of 16 and we live in a four roomed house and when it rains we have squater dishes and buckets around the house coz its licking everywhere,, we all unemployed and we never finished school due to financial struggle, we lost our parents and we depend on social grant, please kindly help us we saw on TV how u help people,, please I don't know if you can help people from other countries but people do thank you

  3. Yesterday, on April 5, 2016 I got a devastating phone call that my mother’s home had burned down. She and her boyfriend (Ray) practically lost everything. It’s evident that there won’t be much to salvage and many family memories will be lost forever as pictures can’t be replaced. I currently live in Georgia and all my family lives in West Virginia. The mobile home they lived in was not insured due to laws in WV preventing them to insure the home (the age of the mobile home). My mother is always there for all of us children no matter when and where she is needed. She and her boyfriend take my aunt (my mom’s sister) to the doctor, she has opened her home to my sisters and brothers on numerous occasions when they had nowhere to go. She feeds anyone who comes to her home without question and asks for nothing in return. Currently, they are going to be staying with friends and family until they can rebuild which will unfortunately take a long time since they live month to month on a fixed income. I am not asking for an extravagant home but just something they can call their own. My mom takes the time to take grandkids to school, take family members to the grocery store, and makes sure she has gatherings for every holiday for the family and friends. They also help his children as well assisting whenever they are called upon even if they don’t feel well or have the funds to assist. They have found a way to make it and help everyone else in their time of need. I would just like to see them get a well-deserved home because at this time they don’t have the money to rebuild. I know my mom doesn’t like to depend on anyone else and this time has to be very difficult for her as she and Ray will have to depend on family and friends for a while until the money can be collected to replace her home. I am not asking for them to be showcased on TV but if there is any assistance that can offered to them in the rebuilding of their home I would really appreciate it. My mom deserves a new home as the current home will have to be torn down after they salvage what they can which I am told will be very little. I have seen what you all can do for people and how you change lives. Please change my mom’s life by giving her a gift of a home she can call her own. Thank you again for what you do in changing people’s lives forever.

  4. Hi!

I live in a small town called Niangua, Missouri. Our school holds approximately 300 kids from pre-k 3 to high school. Our town has just a thousand or so. We have one gas station. We have tried and failed to have a tax levy increase for doing updates to make our school SAFE. There just isn't enough people with enough money. Our houses are old. Our school is old. Our kids walk through rain and snow to get to the cafeteria and other classes. The building hasn't been updated in years. Some classes hold almost 30 kids and we can't expand. PLEASE help us. Pick our school. Let our community help build it, let us make our little school better. It is the HEART of our little town.

  6. My roots run deep in this small town. My home is anything but run down. Im very lucky to have what I do. Very humbled, with a heart that's true. My kitchen/dining/living room, needs some attention, and should be soon. As, last year a leak surprised us all. Under the sink, was a waterfall. Insurance laughed in my ear. What my policy DOES cover, is still unclear. So here I am, commenting away, hoping to intrigue the right person today.

  7. Good evening,
Reading through all these stories makes my story seem not so bad. I am extremely humbled by this offering and grateful to be considered. So thank you.
My story and why I think my family deserves a home makeover!
20 years ago I married the love of my life on September 9, 1995. But nothing prepared me for a greater love of which is a child. My son was born on September 11, 1996. He had a healthy 3 years until he became ill. My husband working as a police officer and I had just graduated nursing school, were blown away when we were told to just "go home and treat him like any other child." The doctors had no idea how long he had to live. Distraught we took him home and I researched day and night. We lived in a 1970's ranch and at the time had a house being built, and our house was sold. After many tests, procedures, years passed, and insurance bills in the $10,000 + range we could not keep up with bills. I had to stop working for the benefit of my son. When he was three just before he was real sick I became pregnant with my second son. It was a busy time going to doctors, having a newborn, and not knowing if your child would live. Amongst all that we lost are house that was built to foreclosure due to our sons medical bills. We then had to move to a different school district because there were no houses for rent where we lived currently and this was devastating for my boys. My oldest was in 6 th grade and youngest in 3rd grade.
In 3rd grade that's when we found out my youngest son had Tourettes. He had so many tics. So I decided to start a Tourettes support group here locally for kids and their parents. Knowledge is a powerful thing. And knowing they are not alone is a great feeling.
The place we were renting at that time was great however the owner wanted to sell at the end of the contract terms. So again we were trying to find a place to live. Still bad credit, could not get a loan. So renting again at a heafty price. Same school district. The bullying at the school was horrible. And them denying my son the special education he needed was my last straw. So I decided to pack our stuff, move back to our first hometown, husband, kids, dogs and all and had no clue what I was going to do. A lady I worked with had a house that she said she would rent to us for 6 months. So we took her up on that offer. I was so grateful to be back in the kids original school district. And what a difference it made. My husband and I met with a credit advisor, paid all debts, brought credit up and were able to buy a beautiful house. A house we were so proud of. The kids were proud of. Then one day my husband a police officer comes home with terrible news that he was let go. Ok I said I'll pick up full time hours as a nurse. My husband had been off for 6 months, I was now working Full time and BOOM… Seizures caused by a car accident I had got into 3 weeks earlier. Unfortunately I had to resign my position as a RN. Now neither of us were working, went through both retirements, savings for a year and a half and realized we could not do this anymore. We had to sell our dream home. Our boys were DEVASTATED. And so were we. We moved into my husband's old house that had sat vancant for 5 years. The conditions of this house were unlivable. Smoke smell, nicotine stains, bathroom floor board rotting away, water leaking in basement, Windows kicked out, and leaking toilets. Just to name a few. We had all but 5,000 left which allowed us to get paint, carpet, flooring. But it's just hard to know that this is supposed to be my home that I am making memories with for my kids and husband in this condition. I have no doubt with some time, and help it would be a beautiful home that I could call home. I would finally feel as a mother and wife that I have helped out in some strange way. Being able to cook, having a shower that works well, and bringing a sense of security in my boys life.
Thank you for reading my long post. Again I know there are many worthy people and family's.

  8. Hello, I would like to nominate my brother Kevin. Five years ago our youngest sister passed away from terminal cancer. My brother Kevin looked after her for 3 years during her battle at the same time taking care of our 74 year old mother who was in stage 6 alzheimers. After my sister passed away, Kevin was left with the responsibility of taking over the horse boarding facility at our moms place. It was in need of a lot of work and years of back taxes. He did the best he could while also taking care of mom. Mom passed away a year ago and Kevin has worked hard to keep the boarding facility going and a roof over our head. The house is falling apart and all the money goes into keeping the ranch running. It has been such a challenge for him with $34,000 dollars in debt on the place and constant repairs. He keeps going because he knows that is what our mom and sister would have wanted. Kevin is the most kind hearted person you will ever meet. Always looking out for others before himself.

  10. Hi. I would like to nominate Phil Sollitt for your program, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition 2016. Like so many others, Phil (aka Dragon) and his wife have been through so much in life, but even more so these past couple of years. Phil has been battling cancer, going thru both chemo and radiation treatments, going into remission only to have the Big Bad C strike again with its vengeance. But, what makes Dragon so special to so many people, myself included, is his internal strength and never ending selfless gift of love for others. Even though Dragon is going thru such hard times in his own life, he continues to give to others, NEVER asking for anything in return. He set up and organized the annual Kids with Cancer Fundraiser Concert, Toy Drive and Poker Run (now in its 5th year), helping to raise money to help kids with cancer, along with producing an annual 4th of July fireworks demonstration, showing his continued devotion to the celebration of his country. He is a “Ride Captain” for an organization called Patriot Guard. The Patriot Guard Riders is an organization whose members attend the funerals of members of the U.S Military, firefighters, and police at the invitation of a decedent's family. Note that Dragon is also a war vet, having served in the military serving his country during Desert Storm. I’m sure there are many deserving families, and you will receive numerous stories, but in my mind and my heart, there is no one more deserving than this very special, loving, giving individual and his family. It would be a blessing to receive such a wonderful gift to such a deserving family.

  11. Hi,my name is Ashlee Crotts my fiancé's name is Matthew we have two beautiful boys. They're my step children but they are my whole world! We currently live in my great grandparents house that they built a very long time ago. We love our home but we don't hardly have room to expand our family. We hope to have another child. The kids have their own room but they have to share it. You see, we only have two bedrooms. And my 15 year old sister stays with us a lot due to our mother and father having disagreements**. We don't have the room for her and our children at the same time. And the kids room is so small that they share a full sized bed. We have considered turning the basement into a bedroom but there are leaks and the basement floods every time it rains. It has gotten very deep before and caused some water damage. And that concerns us also because our youngest son has asthma and allergies and we are concerned about mold. We have looked but haven't seen any but that doesn't mean that it isn't there. The kitchen floor under the sink is falling through(which contributes to the flooding in the basement. Needless to say, the house needs to be completely renovated. We don't want to sell the house because it has sentimental value, and we can't afford to buy another home or renovate our home. I know our case isn't as big as others and it may sound like we're complaining but our house isn't exactly safe for our children. We just want to provide a safe home for our children but this is the best we can do right now. I know you guys help so many people and make dreams come true so help those in need before us. As our youngest says, "pass it forward". Bless all of you.

Right now she's going to school online to become a paralegal asst. We would love your help and We love your show.

  15. I've watched the show for years and it is so heart warming. I am actually here to nominate my mother in-law. She is a remarkable woman who has worked very hard to get where she is today. A few years back though she had to have two knee surgeries and back surgery so she had to take a very early retirement and is now doing everything she can to stay afloat. She bought a single wide trailer in Panama City, FL which has turned out to be a disaster. The roof is leaking pretty bad and causing the walls to buckle in places. the ceiling is falling in in her living room. I want to nominate her because of her big heart. She takes care of my two children for me while I work and its all we can do to keep the trailer intact and as safe as possible for her. Please help her if you can. Thank you so much.

  16. I wisht I nominate a man who to me is a Hero his name is Phil Solitt and I serve with him in the Washington State Patriot Guard Riders. I use a wheelchair and he helps met o get it in and out of my car, pushing it for me when I get tired, even when he'sn ot feelingh is best he puts others first, please help him with a home makeover to make his quality of life stress free witho it having to worry about his home for his family.

  17. I would like to nominate Phillip Stollit of Tacoma, WA. He is an Army veteran who served his time dutifully for his country. My friend has been battling cancer for years now and is fighting the good fight the best he can. He is a very good friend and is loyal to his friends and family. He also takes time to help lay his fallen Soldiers to rest with the Patriot Guard Riders. On top of his fight with cancer he is busy taking caring of his sick father in law. This man deserves something great in his life that would truly boost his morale.

  20. Hi everyone my name is Jacob and I'm commenting about my mother and step dad my mother is 42 this year my step dad the same but for the past 5 years I've watched my mothers health and mental state deteriorate after she found her infant grandson had been molested her and my step dad care for my sisters 2 children when they literally can't fend for themselves my step dad is terminally ill causing him to not be able to work but he's been denied financial assistance so he continues to do odd jobs working 13+ hours daily for little to nothing the house that they live in is 50+ years old and was built by my step dads grandfather the wiring is horrible most of the windows are busted or broken there's mice they can't get rid of and last year there was a fire in the bathroom causing my mom and step dad to use all of their extra money to repair it if my mother had not have been awake to smell smoke my parents as well as the house would have been gone they use wood heat the electrical through the entire house is horrible but their situation hasn't stopped them from building a small park for the neighborhood kids to play in or for my step dad to break his back to make sure everyone around him is cared for. Please help my family thank you extreme makeover.

  21. I would love to have this done for my mother who is the most inspirational, strongest woman I know. 4 years ago on the 26th March 2012 her son, my brother was killed in action in Afghanistan. The most destroying news any mother could hear. 2 months later her mother passed away with lung cancer, who again she was very close too. That year was the worst year anyone could imagine. It wasn't until 2015 things starts to seem. Little bit brighter with my mum and fiancé leaving their job and taking the big leap to start their own business at a butty shop. 2 short months into the business her fiancé of 13 years passed away in his sleep due to a blockage in his artery. I would love my mum to get that lift as her house has got a little on top of her due to trying to balance and keep a float her business and house all on her own. Due to being alone she took companionship in two pups which she adores so much but sadly they destroyed her house in the puppy stages. She sadly hasn't got the spare cash to work on doing her house up at the moment and she really hasn't got the spare time. Please please help my mother. Thank you so much for reading this. Lisa

  22. Hello my name is valerie burt. My husband is shane he is only person in house working but he is getting to where he is hardly able. I have 2 biological kids Dustin is 20 and Kayla is 17. We lost our home to fire years ago and purchased a mobile home which was fine for the 4 of us but 3 years ago I got my 2 nieces Ashlee is 15 Gracie is 11 and my 2 nephews Johnny is 9 and Jackson is 6. I just recently got custody of the 4. After getting them in April I found out in August I had cancer. I had to leave my job to raise the kids and fight the cancer. I have been cancer free over a year. But our 3 bedroom home is not working with 6 kids and my husband and I. I recently had to have a complete hysterectomy due to nerve damage from chemo. We would be happy with just a addition so the kids can have their own space. They have been thru so much. I just want them to have their space and a room to call their own. Thank you.

  23. I've watched your show a lot and it's come down to the point now that My home burnt down on March 25th and I have 6 small children. I was on the verge of getting my children. And someone dileberaltly burnt it down. Now I do not have any place to live for my children to come home or to even call home. I have no income coming in. I'm so scared.

  24. My husband and I, both in our late 50's are raising our grand daughter since birth and a girl, now 12 who we acquired when she was 5. December of 2015 we also received two little boys related to the now 12 year old girl. They had been in foster care for 15 months. One removed from his home at age 18 months, the younger at age 2 months. My grand daughter, now 5 and the older boy, age 4 each have learning disabilities and heart surgery issues, respectively. The oldest had been physically traumatized by her father and her mother's boyfriend for 3 of her then, 5 years of life so – all children need special care. Additionally, we are babysitting, overnight, every night till 3 the next day, 2 children whose parents rent from us. We feed and cloth them because their parents don't. We are not compensated for that. We have yet to see if they can pay rent. We have a lovely 12 room victorian that we are trying to sell. We have had not one bite on it. We have a leased home in a nearby town that we have been trying to fix up so we can move there. It is a ranch style home – very well constructed. It needs windows, bathrooms – which we have all the stuff for, and a kitchen – which we have all the stuff for – we are just paining the cupboards and counters (hopefully) and putting down flooring. We bought the appliances used.. and they all match. We would like some help getting this house put together so we can move into it. Our realtor told us we can't sell this one living in it. Our reasons for buying the smaller house – which we will do as soon as this one sells, is so we can afford to keep the 4 kids we have and to accept the other two if / when their mother decides to relinquish them. My husband can't work on this house roof – which is two stories high with a very steep grade. We can't deal with the stress of tenants anymore – we have two rental units on the back of our property (trailers). We have a brand new – $25,000 garage that literally has never had a car in it…. and we can't afford to live here without tenants. If we could sell this house and life in the smaller house – we could live mortgage FREE and be able to afford all of these kids. The worst part of the house in Bath, NY is a summer room or glassed in back porch we were going to turn into a room for the boys. The ceiling is falling down because apparently they replaced but failed to replace the rotted wood underneath. My husband isn't sure it is safe. We can't afford the kind of professional help we need to get this house liveable. It had been vacant for 5 years. We have been working on it since last October and made very little headway. Do you think it would be worth your time? This has to be a now decision. We can't wait till the end of 2016. We need to sell this house NOW and move into the other house or we are going to lose everything I fear. We would be willing to donate some money when our house sells to someone else whose home you are fixing… I mean like $1000 or $2000 – we won't have much left over after we pay off this house and pay off that house. We bought this house for $65K in 2002 and we bought that house for $70,000 in October… we didn't actually pay for it…we just agreed to buy it. We are leasing it and paying insurance while we fix it up. If we can give them 1/2 the money they will give us a deed… but I am hoping ours sells so we can buy it outright. We are living day to day right now… and have stopped working on the other house because we can't afford to breath.

Thank you for any consideration you are able to extend.

    Sincerely,

    Deborah A. Lo Vette Watkins

  26. Good day

My name is Tebogo and I stay in Soshanguve, Pretoria in South Africa.

My request is: Would you please assist us with materials or money to finish our home. We have two daughters and we tried to build them a home but due to some financial problems, we were unable to complete the house. The walls are standing but the is no roof, door and windows. We are currently sharing a house with my mom, uncle and grandfather. Our wish is to complete the house so that our daughter can have a place to call home. So we are requesting you to donate for us so that we can complete it. It is our dream to see our daughters staying in their own home.

Hope you will find the above in order.

    Thanking you in advance.

  30. Hello Extreme Home Makeover, My name is Jason Reid and I'm applying for my mother. She has just been diagnosed with cancer and my Grandma is working hard to hold down all of the bills for our small apartment. My sister and I have been sharing a small bedroom and my mom sleeps on our couch. I have to go to my other Grandma house to let my mom sleep in the room. I would really enjoy to lift the weight off of my grandmas shoulders because she has no money for retirement. I would also like to have a place for my sister and mom to be able to come home and wind down. My mom has also been very sick lately. Thank you guys! We love you!

  31. Dear Ty and Crew,
Just last year my Husband, daughter and I moved into a home in Missouri with 10 acres. We did all we could to make it happen so we could start our dream of having a hobby farm that would give us some great healthy lifestyle changes. (garden, goats for fresh milk, chickens for fresh eggs, and one day more animals). And we also had big plans for renovating our new home and future milk barn to accomodate our growing family and Farm. Shortly after moving things changed drastically for us. We found out we were having our second child that we had been trying for, for 2 years. Just 4 months after having her I was diagnosed with stage 3 Melanoma. Skin cancer became much scarier than I had originally thought it could ever be when I had the original mole removed in 2013. This turned our world upside down very quickly. Now just 7 months after being diagnosed stage 3 I've progressed to stage 4. In one week I had surgery to remove 2 brain tumors (that weren't even there 6 months earlier) and have a totally different life. I cant hold my baby until Im totally healed, and that was hard enough after the surgery to remove the stage 3 melanoma. I feel like I've lost her whole first year! She will also have to have scans to check for cancer, for the 1st 2 years of her life because I was pregnant with her when the Melanoma was spreading within my body. Our dreams have stopped. My husband is a paramedic and is doing all he can to work his job and our farm despite having to care for me and our 2 girls now 6 years old and almost 1 year old. We have been faced with a ton of stress and bills in what is supposed to be a time of healing and growing within our family. We are blessed with a loving family who has been here for us as well but feel as though all of our lifelines are worn thin. It would be a huge Blessing to have some of our hopes and dreams and some of this stress taken off of our family. Please consider us for the show! #Melanomaawareness #paleisthenewtan #Caitlinstrong

  32. Hello everyone i hope this comment will be read i am a mother of 3 boys and we moved into my husbands grandmothers house to help her pay for her upside down mortgage and it has honestly put us upside down as well we live pay check to pay check hardly making ends meet and the house is very old so old that the house smells rotten when we walk in everyday i need to put things to smell good to distinguish the smell for the kids and i believe its what is getting us sick which isnt good at all it smells like the sewer its horrible. The bathrooms have mold and the air conditioner is about 20 years old and smells as well. I dont want anything extravegant but something where it is more livable mostly for my kids and my husbands grandmother who worked so hard 40 years ago for this house to just go down this way. Please help us we would appreciate any little help.

  33. This would be an awesome opportunity for my family! My parents have both worked hard all their lives but sadly with my dads health issues and him getting laid off and my mom being the only one working they are having a tough time.. They bought some property out in the country years ago but when my dad fell ill the new house project never got done! I would love for them to finally have the home of their own that they deserve! I've reached out to habitat and other organizations but kept getting the same reply sorry we don't help in your area.. So if we could get a chance it would be a blessing!

  34. I would love to give my next door neighbor's a new house. They are retired and also have custody of their 3 teenage grandchildren. I don't know alot about them, but I do know that they deserve a new house. They have a problem with squirrels getting in there house, and they also have had a racoon in there basement. The roof is in bad need of repair, and the house needs painted. Not sure how the inside looks. Would love to help this family out!

  35. I can tell you all about it.. But after reading all the others why read another heart felt story when I can call you and you can just hear me out!!!!!!!!!

  36. Hi Ty I am in South Africa and has a friend with a heart of gold and so humble. Dont know how she still manage to smile. Will you ever consider doing South Africa?

  37. Hi my name is merriam,i live in south Africa in mpumalanga. Am 27 years old, i write to extreme home makeover because i feel that me and my family really need your help with my mother's house. we are the family of 8 member's and we have only 3 rooms house,i sleep with my mother in one room and my 3 kids, 2boys and 1 girl, my mother only get support grant, i pray everyday that god can help us to build a house but we can't afford it

  38. Dear extreme home make over.
My name is krystle I have 4 boys ages 1,3,and twins 13 in May. December 1 my fiance and I lost our apartment and have been struggling to keep our family together. The twins are not his but he treats them as they were his own. They r living with their dad, my fiance is living in his grandparents basement and I'm currently living at my dad's with our youngest two. My father is a hoarder and I basically stay in one room with the two kids and weekends it's all 4 kids and the older two sleep on the floor on a mat. I try to not be there during the day because it's hard to keep a one year old and a three year old secluded to one room because if i dont they will get hurt on something. A couple months ago his hot water heater broke and he has no funds to get another one because of his hoarding he buys junk instead, so I have to pack up the kids everyday and go to my grandmother's or mothers two towns away just to go shower. My fiance and I don't get to sleep together in the same place because there's no room for us all anywhere and it's been putting some damage on our relationship. All we want is a place for our little big family to all be able to live together and I know it will make our relationship strong again because we stress everyday about not having a home for us all anymore. I can't tell you how many waiting lists we are on and have been for months and some a year or more. I feel like when we get ahead something always kicks us back. Please choose our family and give us a place we can call home. It doesn't have to be anything huge or spectacular. It can be a trailer even. Just anything we can call home. Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story. We love your show and what you do for families. It's amazing to know there are still kind people in this world. We hope to hear from your show.

  42. Good afternoon I watched one of your programmes this afternoon as usual.

The appreciation and joy from little girls on the wheelchair reminded that I ask this question

Is it possible that you come to south Africa on a similar programme????

    In God we trust

    Regards

    Richard

  43. Hi Ty,
I am nominating a very deserving FAMILY! My Aunt Rachel and Uncle T. They have 3 boys. My oldest cousin Tommy is extra special!

Tommy was born with Asburgers, Autism, Terets, OCD, ADHD, and Anxiety!!

When Tommy was at his worst- so were my aunt and uncle. My aunt will tell you it some of her darkest days. Watching her son have these anger spells at school and spend weeks in mental institutions because they just couldn't get his medication right. After a few hard years that everyone in my family will never forget but especially Tommy- He found an amazing school that helped him succeed past anyone's expectations. He is 19 Years old now but still lives at home and will for a long time.
Tommy can not get his license to drive and the doctors have not clarified what type of care he would need to live on his own.
    Tommy – 19
    Sam – 16
    Matthew -11
They have an extremely small two bedroom house!! they have all three of their boys in twin size beds lined up less than a foot apart from each other in one room. There is what looks like black mold on the walls in the boys room and my aunt and uncles room. It has been sprayed and supposed safe for them to remain where they are.

My Aunt Rachel is an AMAZING mother. Her occupation is a Labor and Delivery Nurse at a near by hospital.
My Uncle T, who is also my God father works as a graphic designer trying to make ends meet. He is one of the most respected men ive ever witnessed in my whole entire life. I have yet to meet someone that compares to his positive attitude and integrity.

TOMMY HAS CREATED HIS OWN WEBPAGE
talking about his experience with autism and how he wants to help other kids know that they are NOT ALONE!!!!!

  44. Hello Extreme Makeover Crew!

My name is Alexis and my grandparents are in desperate need of a new home. My grandpa retired in July 2015. A few weeks later on August 13,2015, he went into the e.r. for chest pains. The next day he was being rushed to surgery for a triple bypass. Since his bypass his health has continued to decline. He now is suffering from kidney failure and has to be put on dialysis. My grandmother is his main caregiver but can't handle the work on her own. A few weeks after his bypass she was fired from her job. I live with them and our house is falling apart. The back half of my house it being held up with Jack's. 3 of our floor joists have broken. Our bathroom is being held by jacks. Our toilet is surrounded by rotted and molded floor. It is going to fall through the floor. My grandparents room has a huge gapping home in the floor from the broken floor joists which causes severe moisture. Their bedroom wall and the guest bedroom wads is covered in black mold. With my grandpa having to be put on dialysis in the house he needs a sterile environment for it. We do not have it. I am the only working and with me alone we cannot afford to fix anything. It just keeps getting worse. I'm praying you guys can help us out. We are in desperate need.

  45. Hey Everyone.
I am writing to you in hopes that somebody can help my parents and younger brother. I know this is a long shot but they desperately need something done to there home. In July 2015 they made their last payment on their Mobile Home. They now own it. But it is falling apart. Despite every attempt to potty train one of their dogs, she would not be potty trained. Turns out the reason why she couldn't be potty trained is because she was going through kidney failure. Anyways, she would urinate all over the carpet. This had gone on for about 5 years. The carpet is destroyed. It smells so bad of urine. Unfortunately I think the damage just isn't to the carpet. I guarantee that the urine has cause some kind of damage to the floor board itself. Its as if the floor underneath is rotting. In the bathroom, the ceiling is molding/rotting and literally caving in. The nozzle that you turn to turn on the shower fell off so they are no longer about to turn the water on and off. Thee drain fell through and my father did what he could to fix it, but if you step near or on the drain when taking a shower it caves it. Its just a matter of time before someone puts their foot through it again. This is just a few of the many things that is wrong with their newly paid off house. My mother has muscular dystrophy and copd and despite her attempts to keep this house together, it is falling apart fast than she can fix it. She can barely walk outside to the mailbox without getting out of breath. My father has multiple sclerosis. In January of 2016 he found out that now has the progessive form of MS. He was out of his medications for over 6 months for his MS due to the inability pay for the doctor visits and then pay to get to Seattle to get his medications refilled. I used my financial aid money in January to get him his test and medication done. My parents are constantly getting sick and I firmly believe that it is from there house. There house is no longer safe to live in and it hasn't been for a while. With the medication that my father takes, it inhibits his immune system and even a cold could be life or death for him. They are living off of disability but with the cost of their medical expenses and monthly bills they can't make ends meet. I have seen my parents struggle both physically and financially for as long as I can remember. I have gotten married and moved out now, and the only thing I want for them is to live in a house that is safe. I help them as much as I can but I have a family of my own to take care of.
I pray that somebody can do something for them. If I could help them I would.

  46. Dear makeover team ,I know there's so many people in the world who need you guys so desperately. You guys do wonders and bring tears of joy to my eyes . I've been watching your show since I was a little kid I'm in my twenty's now. My boyfriend and I bought our first home last year and it needs a lot of work . I work at a retirement home for the elderly with dementia and Alzheimer's. I work almost 70 hours a week and it still doesn't pay all the bills. I love my job and it's the most rewarding feeling in the world when you help someone in need . I would be so grateful to have our dream home so we could start a family of our own. Like I said I know so many people are in need. And I wish we could help everyone. If we got this opportunity I would make sure I would be able to give back to someone else . I live to help others and I believe you guys do too. So thank you if you even read this. I would be so grateful. Alissa Thellin from hibbing MN

  47. Dear Extreme Makeover team.

I would like to nominate some very wonderful caring people here in Alberta Canada.

11 Years ago they opened up their home to animals of all kind who did NOT have a chance at very good future.

They brought in cats, dogs, rabbits, pot bellied pigs, the list goes on forever.

They have been dealt a pretty crappy hand at life these last few years. Every dime this family has ever had has gone into rehabilitation and re-homing over 4000 animals but the home and barn is in a state of disrepair and is falling apart.
The walls are patched with styrofoam & flooring material, the windows are barely hanging in, the floors are ready to fall into basements, this list could go on for a while.

They have had family and friends over to help with some stuff but it is such a large list it is going to take us the next 20 years just to get caught up

During the past years well still managing to take care of the animals they have dealt with broken bones, minimal heat, and even Cancer, and therapies 5 days a week.

When the normal person would have thrown in the towel they still pushed forward because the animals needed them.

Now they can sure use the help of Extreme Makeover and the community to help get the home back into livable conditions.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and hopefully you are able to assist.

  48. I'm writing on behave of my grandmother. She just turned 69 years old on March 11th. She has a home that's about 100 years old. This house is where my whole family grew up. In the past dacade or so since my grandmother and grandfather got a divorce and he moved out the house started kind of falling about. The only thing that works in the bathroom is the toilet, the kitchen is horrible. My grandmother lives off her social security check each month and doesn't have the funds to fix the house. I'm trying to help but I live pay check to pay check myself. I want to live with my grandmother so if she happens to have an accident or something someone is there with her but the house is in bad shape. I want my grandmother to have a livable, decent home that she doesn't have to worry too much about. I want to save my childhood home! Please help us! 54. Dear Makeover Team,
Hello. My name is Jennifer. My family lives in Ohio. Honestly, I don't know where to start. My husband, Jim, is the sole provider for me, my two children, and our two dogs. Because of his previous employment, we moved across the country, staying in hotels for most of my children's lives. After his hernia surgery we have decided to settle down so our children can finish school and one day in the future have a home to come visit us in. We live in a three bedroom trailer but it's condition gets worse as the time passes. We bring water from the pump inside because all the pipes have gone bad under the house. That also means we bathe out of a bucket in the bathtub. The sewer is not up to code and isn't hooked up properly. Only two rooms are livable because the third is not insulated and has mold growing in the walls. We have tried to keep up with all of these problems but with my husband working, he can barely manage the bills. We are to the point where any and all help would be more than appreciated. Thank you for your time and I hope I hear from you and your life changing team.

  55. I need help, I need a prayer, I need a restart in life! I have served in the military for over 20 years and recently retired. I joined the Navy right out of high school and it is a hard transition after knowing nothing but that. I have been through two jobs and the one that I have now makes it hard to do anything with the family. My Wife and I have having issues as well. It feels like I am nothing but a pay check and an outsider to my family. I wanted to get us into our first home when I got out, I wanted to be able to settle into our family and move forward. it has proven to be hard, and at times impassable. My retirement check pays for the bills and food, but not a whole lot else. I don't see us being able to get a house to make a home any time soon with out help. If it wasn't for her Mother and Father letting us have an older trailer to live in I am not sure we could afford an apartment. The home that we live in I am thankful to have, but the house isnt secure the best from the weather. some of the floors are rotting and I dont have the monies to fix them. I am able to patch up spots from time to time, but I want something better and more comfortable so that the Wife and I can move on and God willing become one again. I want so much for my family, I want them to be happy more than anything. I feel that with the stress from the house gone, we can. I have given so much for this country and I have given so much for my family, I just ask for some help please. I never have asked for help before, I would lay down my life for the ones that I love, I just don't feel that I have been able to give them what they deserve. They have given up so much of me while I have been deployed and away, now it is hard to regain and be part of this family again.
Please help me, Please help me get my family back together, Please help us with a house so that we can make it a home.
    God bless you all!

  56. I'm writing on the behalf of my mom. Our dad passed away from a form of brain Cancer called Glioblastoma on New Years day. He was the best dad in the world. Before his passing, he started fixing certain things in the house even while he was sick. Because of his treatment and medical bills, it left us in financially struggle. My mom took full care of our dad and did it with happiness. My dad worked on many roofs, around town ans he would help anyone. He would even help young men by hiring thwm duribg the summer to put money in their pockets. You would have never known how sick hw was if he didnt tell you. Im stating at home with my mom and its a struggle with bills etc. She never show whwn shes down or hurting. Shes always smiling and talk about all the good times. I know my dad will be smiling down to see what a blessing came in our paths and know his work and potential was finished. Please help us. Thanks

  60. We are Roxanne and RJ we are 54 & 52 years of age. I have recently suffered a stroke and had to stop working, my husband works 40 hrs a week and is a volunteer fire fighter in our community.
We are trying to do renovations on our own as we are extremely tight on money. Last night April 2nd, 2016 we found black mold in our down stairs bathroom. Not knowing what it was we ripped the drywall off, that's how we noticed it. We proceeded then to seal off the area totally with plastic and heavy duty tape.
I then contacted our insurance company to find out they will not cover this. We are unable to leave the house as we have no where to go and can't afford it. We can barely make ends meet.
We have to stay in our home with our dogs and live in this environment. We sincerely don't know what to do, it feels like our lives are just crumbling around us.
Every time we feel like things might be looking up for us somethings happens.
We are both very ill to begin with, my husband and I are both on antidepressants, he is a cancer survivor, I have fibromyalgia, and feel that this is not going to help us. We have always been hard working people, and still are. Well health permitting that is.
We are always there to help people when they are in need, but feel that when the wheels are turned we have to fend for ourselves.
Please help us as we don't know what to do and really need the help. This year will be our 25th wedding anniversary and we can't even celebrate it, or do anything special for it.

    Sincerely
    A Very Deserving Couple
    PLEASE HELP ???

  62. Because of hard times in this economy, my husband has been trying to make ends meet providing for our large family and our home seems to be falling down around us. It takes all we have to just provide for them and with septic issues running under our home from broken drain pipes and mold in our home from our basement flooding going on for ten years now. Every year we plan to fix it but always never enough money. Our gutters have fallen off, roof has issues that have caused water damage to some walls. Kitchen cabinets have fallen off the wall due to leaks but we glue and nail them up but the tile is now gone until I can refinish the walls in kitchen. But we scrape up money to try and tar over leaks. He was able to put a make shift laundry room in our den area because our home was built in 1967 without one. I have always gone to laundry mats to wash clothes. I have a daughter age 20 with a 7 month old baby that is living back home to go to college and better her life. I also have a 15 year old son that is an academic high school student with hopes to go to college to work in sports medicine. I have two little girls, one is age 3 and the other 5. I haven't been able to work outside of home because my five year old has severe social anxiety from birth. She has gone to occupational therapy for it but because it doesn't handy cap her mental abilities they can't help her. She basically shuts down around public places or new environments and won't move or interact with her surroundings. She has fears of patterns, foods and certain insects. She has come along way with my help, to just eat solid foods. At age five she ate a regular sandwich for the first time. Just to see her chew food is always such a milestone. She has to have her food liquid. Campbells soup is the only way I have been able to feed her vegetables and fruits are out of the question. No one has ever been able to diagnose this situation so I stay home and home school her to help her daily. So my husband brings in the only income and I try to do what I can for our home and make things work. I've dreamed of having central heat and air conditioning but window units and space heaters are the only heat or air we have. Our most recent issue was septic lines needing replaced. Thankfully that nightmare is over after five years and were able to get new drain fields replaced. Our well went dry but a few years back we were blessed with city water. Now my back bathroom over my basement is literally falling in. The toilet sinks into the floor the tub isn't as stable as it used to be. To have it rebuilt would take more money than we could afford. Its our only working bathroom for showers and baths, but we make due. The front bathtub stopped working years ago. And needs replaced to be able use it. The break in all the old drain pipes smells terrible. My husband has gone into the crawl space to try and fix holes but after over forty years the entire drains need replaced. The backyard has some kind of sludge coming from under the home that stays wet in the backyard. I think it might be the cause of the back bathroom falling in. My kids play in the front only due to past septic issues and current sludge problems. My husband owned this old home when I met and married him, but I never asked for an extravagant home only a healthy mold free home.

  63. Hello, my name is Shelby im 21 and I'm a mother of two beautiful babies one is 2 my son and my daughter who is one and another who is gunna be here in August. I live in Woodlawn. Iillnois with my mother her boyfriend and my 17 year old sister my kids of course and my youngest child's father. My mother drives a bus in town SCT works none stop as well as trying to remodle her home, as of right now my kids sleep in the bedroom with her and her boyfriend and me and my boyfriend sleep in the living room floor, there are 3 bath rooms and 6 bed rooms in this house but only two of the bedrooms are liveable the others or shit off because they have mold growing in them or explosed power out lights or just to many holes. The one working bathroom out of the 3 is nearly done for itself the tub drains straight under our house and is sinking in two the floor there are so many water leaks that it looks like a constant swamp and my mother doesn't have the means or time to fix it. My mother in my eyes deserves a liveable home not something like this that's almost condemned she has raised me and my 3 sibling with hardly anything her entire life she's a strong and amazingly beautiful independent women with out her me and my family would be on the street. I've watched her struggle everyday just to keep this house together and it hurts me to see this amazing women who would give the shirt of her back to help anyone struggle so much and for so long just keep falling further behind she will fix one problem and 3 more happen, proof to that my boyfriend spent all day under our house labeling broken water lines so my mother had an idea of how bad it really was. Just to find out its all broken, in the same day she received a letter from the county saying her septic system is out of date and I feel threw the front porch. I lovey mother but I know she's at her breaking point if something isn't done aoon we won't have a place to live anymore we need help.please come help my family!!!

  64. I am in the process of buying a house, waiting on the bank to accept the offer. I call this house My Happy House, it just makes me feel good with all the windows. The third time i looked at the house I started to see a lot of problems, the day we signed the papers before the realtor could send the papers it was taken off the markert. My sister was the realtor, she called around and located the bank who had the house.

They let us bid on it, but the bid was to low, they sent what they wanted for it, we sent in another bid, now we are waiting.

I want this House to be MY HAPPY HOME, so far it is not starting out so good.

I don't want this house to turn out to be the house from hell, there are so many repairs that need to be done, have you ever wanted something so bad and then you are afraid that when you get it, it is not what you wanted, i am going to take this chance, hope it is for the good.

    Please help

  65. I am writing on behalf of my landlord, and Vermont artist, Hank Schwartz. He lovingly purchased a historical Vermont building in downtown Jamaica. His wife of 40 years has fallen gravely ill. They have no medical insurance,The building and grounds, which I and my two little girls aged 7 months, and two years occupy upstairs is in need of repair. Some aspects of the apartment are just not safe for small children. My landlord, because of his wife's illness and the extreme amount of debt and work that the building still needs has fallen into a deep depression. I have never known a more loving, vibrant, and unique person in my entire life. His artistry with his glass work is (in my opinion) untouched. I lie awake at night, worried to death this man who I have come to know as like my father (and a grandpa to my children) will loose his lifes work if something isnt done to help him. I am pleading with you and ABC to find it in your heart to please, please, please help Hank recover his goals for his building and our home. I have tried to help with home improvements, but its very difficult doing this, keeping Hanks spirits up, and taking care of two children, both under two years old. Hank has a wonderful history in our community, he is selfless and would do anything for anyone. Please, ABC, please help our family.

  69. I would like to nominate my family. We are a small family of three (my wife Morgan and 7 month daughter Lylah). We both work fulltime jobs and still struggle making ends meet at times. We bought a fixer upper but the fixing upping has been harder than we anticipated. Our house badly needs a makeover. It is our first house and we would love for it to be our only house. My wife and I just want the best for our daughter and we know this house has a ton of potential. It would mean the world to us if we were selected to be a part of the show. We are thankful for the opportunity to nominate ourselves and hope to hear from the show. Thanks!

  70. I'm writing on behalf of my nephew, Tyrone Chears
He is a vet having served in Iraq but today he's facing challenging times. In his quest to try and provide a home for himself and his children, he purchased a house that turned out to be completely inhabitable. He paid cash for this home that is at 60 years old last year and has not been able to live in it. There are so many problems that it won't pass a code inspection. He has exhausted all the money that he had and now he has gone into a depression. He works but most of he pay goes towards the extended stay hotel where he has been living. He's a good guy and very proud but sometimes we all need help. He's served his country and I would like to see something good happen for him.
I would deeply appreciate you guys considering him because he is in dire straits right now and your immediate actions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank You
    Sandra

  72. Hi my name is Madison Miller, I live in brimfield, Massachusetts. I was recently diagnosed with a rare childhood cancer as I am 14 years old. I've watched your show since I was little and always wanted to apply to get my house redone I am overly obsessed with home designing. I live with my little brother, older sister , mom and step dad. I wanted to do this more for my parents, since my mom isn't working and my step dad never has a break. I have just begone my treatment and still have a long 40 weeks ahead of chemo. So I have been spending all of my time in the house. We were thinking of putting in a indoor saltwater pool but our money is very tight now because we have to travel back and forth from Boston Childerns hospital. I've also just needed a break off of this cancer thing, I'm still in shock and I lost my grandfather to cancer 4 years ago this April. So I have set my mind to wanna go to college for something medical to help find a cure. well I hope you read this and consider us as an option. thank you so much 🙂

  73. Hey. I watched a few of these shows & I love what you guys do. Well my mother she lives in royston ga , she's a manager at Bojangles & she has my brothers four kids. Ages 10, 10, 7 , & 7. She's currently buying her home. But she has had problems with her sewer so the entire part underneath her house is basically flooded & her house is falling in slowly but surely. She has had so many problems since the kids popped into her life but she wouldn't have it any other way. She's 46 years old. Her mother died when she was 13 from cancer & her dad recently beat cancer. She doesn't go to the doctor, she can't afford it. She's pretty healthy as far as she knows. She just needs help with her home.
