  1. My wife and I recently purchased a home in a great school district for our 4 year old daughter's future. We are planning to grow our family here. My wife is really conscious of every aspect of what goes into a home. We only use no, or low VOC products and try to maintain the most healthy environment for our family. The home that we purchased sits on a corner lot and has great characteristics, but really doesn't seem to fit the neighborhood. The homes surrounding our property are really nice and have been taken care of properly. After taking possession of the home we have started to make renovations and with each step we take forward, we have taken a few back. My wife has battled with anxiety since the birth of our daughter, and if the home we purchased was able to be remodeled in a way that would give her piece of mind, I feel like she could refocus and be the mother that she is destined to be. She is a great person, and I can't stand to see her worry about things that can be changed, but are super costly, and will take years for me to achieve. Since our negotiations with the previous home owner began, we have had a radon mitigation system installed, a new vapor barrier installed in the crawl space. The access to the crawl is in our basement with a ridiculous opening that doesn't seal. There is a load bearing pole in the middle of the living area. The master bathroom has rotten Windows around the jacuzzi tub that is in the corner. There is a 3rd full bathroom that is located right outside our master bedroom door that has no purpose. I can only assume the original plan for the home had a bedroom where a sitting room is now with a big opening going to the foyer. We have a hundred different ideas with no direction or peace in sight. I feel like with hard work, we can both make the proper corrections to the long list of issues we have with the home. I worry that the burden on my wife from what may be underlying on each step that we take is far more detrimental to her than what I'm capable of doing to satisfy her mother worries with each task. I can't even get her to move into the home until most of them are addressed. She works mainly from our home.. Work in progress. Please help me help our family.

  2. Dear Makeover Team,

My name is Anthony Calderon, after reading all these post’s I would have to say that I am a blessed man / father. I own a 1950’s home in the small town La Mirada Ca. It’s a fairly nice home but it is right out of the Brady Bunch set. I bought the house in 2006 and have tried to fix the house project by project but my income didn’t allow me to even do that. I went through a divorce in 2014 (20 years) married. She left me and the kids. The house still looks the same as it did when she left and so I know that the colors, the walls, the smell it all reminds us of what we use to have (A complete family) If I were to be privileged to receive your help, it would be a day, week, month, year to remember for both my kids and myself. But if not, all these other post’s / families will get to experience the joy which still makes me happy. You guys continue to rock and hope you have many more seasons to come!

    Always,
    Anthony Calderon

  5. My name is Hailey & I am writing on my mothers behalf . My mom has always been a hard working woman , great sister , daughter & mother . she is a big helping hand and helps anyone anyway she can , she would give the shirt off of her back to someone if they needed .Feb 6 , 2015 my grandfather died of cancer and our lives changed for forever . We were for forced to leave our family home due to my grandfather's wife now having ownership of the couse , it has been a complete struggle since then . living from check to check and barely making ends meat . With her having to take me back and forth to the hospital for ulcers from depression she hadn't had time for herself . November 2015 , I moved into my own home and everything was going okay until my mother lost her job and also lost her car & started struggling again and i was back in the hospital for stress and recently i was on the way home & a car ran a stop sign and ran out infront of me & caused me to have a broken wrist , broken breast bone and very bad back pains which cause my mom to have to stay with me everyday and help me with everything & try her best to struggle and help me with my medical bills , back and forth to ER and doctor's appointments also struggle with lawyers and the insurance company .And i just think its time for her to get her blessing because she deserves it !!!

  6. I am writing on behalf of my church home, Light House Ministry (in Birmingham,Al) and for the pastor, my father, Scotty Scaife. Our church house is literally that, a house. We are renovating a home within the collegeville area which belonged to one of our church member's father. We love our church. Despite there being only about eight of us, every time we enter through the doors, we are guaranteed to come out happier and brighter than how we came. The building however, could use some resurrection. There are leaks in the roof, causing stains and falling debris from the ceiling. There are numerous amounts of openings and cracks on the outside of the building, which allows rodents to creep inside. Even some of the floor boards are giving away. Despite all of these issues, we still praise the lord because we realized that if we honor him first, then everything else will fall into place.

  7. Hi my name is gary, and I'm writing to you about my wife and I. We live in a small town in the country called Byhalia, Mississippi about 10 minutes South of Collierville, Tennessee.
I've lost my job due to being diagnosed with stage 3 congestive heart failure due to blood pressure readings 160/105 – 200/ 115. I'm taking 15 different blood pressure medications and water pills.
I've been doing my best to renovate my home for my wife.
I love her so much I wanted to give her a gift she wouldn't ever forget.
My home was built from an old barn, so it needed, much needed repairs. And being sick has made it extremely hard to finish timely. I've been working on our home since last October and I've got sooo much more to go.
Finding surprises that were not expected within the structure of the old barn part of my home has made my job extremely difficult to finish. I have 2 pallets of roofing to put on my roof and I stay so badly out of breath its getting harder to complete.
Anyways, if you think you could help me with another makeover on my home, you would be so greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

  8. I am writing concerning my Brother in law. I saw brother in law although he & my sister are divorced we all still consider him family. (He & my sister still are friends also)
He's more like a brother to me. He's been in the family for 42 years.
John is 65 (I think), he has been recently diagnosed with kidney issues which is calling for lots of Dr appointments. He is on a fixed income. He goes days without a decent meal at times. We find this out AFTER the fact. His house has termites & is falling apart.
We had a tornado come through several years ago on Mother's Day & it done lots of damage to his property. He hasn't been able to get past the damage & fix it back up due to his low income.
He is VERY private about his personal living. He does t have his kids, grandkids, friends or anyone over to visit due to the fact the house isn't livable. HE HAS BEEN SLEEPING IN HIS TRUCK. This breaks my heart to know this. I can help with the little things as far as furniture & such but just can't afford to build for him. My family offered for him to stay with us at different times but he isn't the type to accept this of offer. He doesn't like to accept monetary gifts from anyone. We have to pretty much buy groceries & give to him.
I own a small restaurant so if he comes in, I cook for him and tell my employees NOT to ring it up in the register.
I am asking for help with helping him to get into a Small home that is livable. If just 1 bedroom, bath kitchen & living area. I pray that you or someone can find it to help get John a place to live soon….
THANK YOU in advance for your time.

  10. I would like to nominate my great-grandmother.My grandmother opens her home to any and everyone in the neighborhood. She is currently taking care of her great great grand-children in her home. It gets very hard on. The home is infested with roaches and other insects, but that doesn't stop the family from crowding her home. I know they are families who go through things far worse, but I know my grandmother, and our family will be forever grateful to the Extreme Makeover crew if they pick my grandmother

  11. Hi. My name is Jessica. I just moved in to the Four Seasons Mobile Home Park in Fresno California about one year ago. I left my hometown born and raised in a affluent upper class family. I moved to Fresno to move with my mother. She obviously is lower class society. Along my path of travels,I came to meet the most loving caring close working as one family anyone could ever have. They never give up no matter what the circumstances, living conditions and financial situations. They stick together. Mom sister and son, each have they re own mobile homes. They live with they're children, in which everyday is a struggle to keep these such close bonds together. Some days. Water is off and cockroaches are infested. Yet four kids and a loving husband and wife struggle to survive with they're five children. All happy as long as they are together. The brother a single father, who spent the last two years fighting for his twelve year old daughter and fourteen year old son, worries everyday that they could be taken due to conditions in which he has no control over considering the financial and emotional struggle him and his whole family go thru. It's not easy asking for help. His struggle is real everyday. And if I had a billion dollars I would hand it to this family because the power of love is worth more than the power of money. And being from a conservative state. These people have taught me so much about life love and family. If you really want to reach out and help these people whom are willing to follow thru on this makeover. This family is very well worth it. Thank you for the consideration. And I will pray and hope for help to this well blessed so fortunate family. I am sincerely grateful this show even exists. Because this is the time to help. Please……. Jessica Baril

  12. Hello my name is Emily Murtland. I am 21 years old and a mother of 4 children and another on the way. Two are my biological and two are beloved step-children. Shannon and Nika are my biological and Laurie and Nova are my others! Laurie is 10, Nova is 8,Shannon is 2,Nika is 9 months old. Laurie and Shannon are both infatuated with the J.K Rowling series " Harry Potter" Nova is the only one of the girls that does not live with us. She comes occasionally to visit us and to spend time with her dad sisters and myself.
My fiance Matthew has always been one of those people to help others' in need. This lead to him, over the years aiding friends and loved ones. Giving them guidance and a good influence on them. Two of which currently reside with us. Chris and Troy, are are both in much better positions, financially and the amount of confidence in themselves, than they were when they first arrived. Chris has aspirations to become a music producer/artist. He is quite good! Troy has always dreamt of being an auto mechanic. He is discouraged because he believes that it is a dying field in the industry. Other than that he is an outdoorsy person, he likes to hunt, and do many other activities that are in an outside environment. Chris and Troy are both 22 years old. So the point is that Matthew has been a very good influence on them, even like a father figure.
We are a single income family aside from Chris and Troy who both also have jobs working in the construction feild. They of course help with things around the house, however they have goals and aspirations they aim to acheive. So financially we survive just as many other people do. The difference between many other families and ours is that if you choose to pick us, it will not only mean the world to us,but it will help us be able to have the chance to better ourselves as well as the other lives we touch. I myself am unable to work. I have had a unpredictable case of seizures since my 2 year old, Shannon was born. So as I said, we survive.
We live in a home that had additions to it when we moved in. It originally was an old trailer, so the add-ons made to it, only added to the amount of heat and electricity that it takes to keep light and heat going. The electric bill comes in on average about $400 a month. On top of that we have mortgage payments, car insurance for multiple vehicles, and of course food, living supplies and baby needs. It is a 3 bedroom 1 bathroom home. So with everyone here,it is a tight fit. As with that, organisation is always an issue. Not enough cabinet, cupboard or storage space makes things clutter and unorganized.
So all in all, I believe we are a great candidate for a home makeover. With 4 adults and 4 almost 5 children in a 3 bedroom home, we could definitely use a turn of good luck for once. The loving family we have, and two young aspiring men whom we hold very close to our hearts, this is us reaching out. Sure we could surive , but can you help us live for a change.

    Sincerely,
    The Ackroyd family

  13. My name is Sabrina Garcia I am a single mother of one beautiful autistic baby boy, he is 10 years old who unfourtunently lost his father last year to stage 5 cancer we have never had a home of our own until my sister helped us out and sighed over her house to me unfourtunently me and my son have to share are room because my sons room is falling apart. I am struggling with the houses repairing because there is black mold and bad leaks and its making my son and my sister and the rest of the family sick. I love my son I want the best for him I want to be able to put photos of his dad on walls and not worry about them falling off the wall because the walls are falling apart because of mold. I am scared for my family I want a safe environment so when its my time to go my son can have a nice house he can call his own with his god mother and god father.

  14. I am writing on behalf of my daughter and son in law and grandchildren. The home they live in was built in 1947 and hasn't been updated since the 70's. My daughter is blind so she isn't able to help with any kind of updating such as painting. The house has multiple places where there is black mold that is visible and the walls are covered with lead paint which has already caused my two year old granddaughter to have elevated blood lead levels.
They live from paycheck to paycheck and have little left over for remodeling and renovation. I am very concerned about the health of my grandchildren living in this house. Please help them.

  18. Dear Team
I would like to explain more what going on at our home. For the last 55 years my mother has been working on our home to repair it and making it more comfortable for our children. She has done a lot of breaking down and expanding the house. The problem is our house is beginning to shift to the left side and its causing the whole house to crack. The cracks is so severe it goes from inside to the outside. We don’t have a lot of space in the house so the living room are not really a living room, in there we have my mother desk where she does her sewing and paint and craft work.
In our community safety are important. I would really want to get us some new fence, ours have been standing for 23 years, so you can just imagine how that looks.
We recently took in a baby boy and all his stuff is everywhere in the home, because he don’t have a space of his own. I would like for him to have a room of his own. The Lord gave him to us and we want to do the best we can for him. Although he have a lot of love we want to do so much more for him.
Throughout the years I have tried saving some money for the repairs and everything that need to be done, but that don’t work we always have to use it for something more important.
We try our best to make a living by selling old clothes and also gathering bottles, paper etc. for recycling.
There are a lot more of this that need to be done, that I would mention if we get pick to be helped by you guys. That’s up to the Lord who need your help. We can just pray and ask, He has always provided for us and we really belief He keep on doing that.
Thank you for all the help and love you give to so many people out there. I really wish that there were people like you here in South Africa.

    Regards
    Lerika

  23. Dear makeover team, MY name is Amanda I am 24 years old and live in West Chester,PA.I have a 4 year old daughter and we live at home with my mom. I want to ask for this makeover for my mom ,we live in a small two bedroom town house which is falling apart, literally. The walls are separating from the ceilings, almost all of our plumbing is leaking which is causing mold on our ceilings downstairs. I try and keep up with fixing it but it's just becoming a more impossible feat every day. I am a single mom who works full time,my mom is also a single mom who works fulltime. She also has polysystic kidney disease and authritis in her knees, but somehow she still finds the energy to help me take care of my daughter. My mother has taken care if me by herself my entire life, and even though we have little money and are falling behind in bills especially hospital bills from when i had a gas grill blow up in my face and cause 2nd degree burns all iver ny face a year ago,but we manage.my mom is the greatest person I know, and I want to be able to renovate the house for her but I barely have the money to pay for groceries let alone renovate a house. I have always wanted to something nice for her but could never afford it, so I am asking to please help me give her this one thing when all she has ever done is give her everything to everyone.

  24. I am writing in for Jammie Jones and our kids we are adopting. Jammie is 24 woman that I meet 4 years ago. She works hard, takes care of 5 kids, and is trying to finish her college degree. Every since I met her we have been through every challenge life can throw. We are adopting 3 kids and fostering 2 of her cousins. For someone so young she has had a very full plate and has rose to all coming. I want to show her how much it means for all that she does so to be able to give her and the kids a place to call home would be a dream come true. So if you would like to hear more of our story and make some dreams come true please! Thank you

  25. I am sending in a special request for my mother. I know there are alot of deserving people, and you have a daunting task of choosing the most deserving person. I truly believe my mother is an angel sent from above. She has not only raised her 4 children as a single mother, but adopted her sister's three children and raised them by herself. Her generosity doesn't stop there, she has also raised over 5 other children not related to her, just because they needed a home, and a family. My mother works for the school and continues to change lives and inspire children everyday. She is the most selfless, caring, and passionate person I have ever met. My mother is not one for asking for help. However, I don't know where else to turn. She works so hard for what little she has. Her home which she has raised and helped so many children, is in desperate need of repairs. The home is very old, and has rot, water coming up from the floors, leaking windows, broken doors, and the list continues. On her income, it's not possible for her to keep up with the wear and immediate repairs that need to be done. My mom is a strong person. However, this morning is one of the first times I seen her cry, and feels like there is no hope in saving her home. I've never seen or have heard her ever loose hope. I've seen her turn children around that no one wanted, and they graduated high school, went to college, and now have families of their own. I feel it's her turn for the first time in her life, to recieve something very special. It would be truly a blessing for her to have a functional, beautiful home where she can continue to do her amazing acts of kindness.

  26. Hi I am writing on behalf of my very good friend/neighbor Debbie. She is truly an angel. She helps people and some she doesn't even know with all kinds of things from helping with admissions to rehab for troubled friends, giving input and getting involved for school functions, fighting against bullying and so much more! She is an excellent mother who's whole world is her 3 kids. She is very family oriented and would do anything for those she loves and for strangers as well. Her life is dedicated to taking care of everyone she loves and not herself. She has been through so much and fights everyday to do what is right even if it takes all of her energy which is what usually happens. She very strongly believes that you need to stand for what is right no matter what the cost. Morals, education, working hard and helping others is her goal and has raised 3 wonderful children because of her relentless spirit of doing right and doing well. She is taking care of her mom who is living with her and just had surgery, her husband is a recovering addict for over a year now and they work hard everyday to win that battle of mending what was damaged between them and their family. Mark is a great guy who works hard 70 hours a week and served in the army 101st airborne division. They are both so patriotic and respect our country and what it stands for. She even got a program going at our school to have gifted students sing the national anthem daily because a recording wasn't appropriate to her. She helps anyone who calls and wears herself out and fails to take care of herself. She has been told she possibly has lung cancer and wont go get taken care of because she has too many people to help and cant focus on herself. She has a fighting spirit and is so selfless, loving and educated.I could write so much more but I think you get the idea. She deserves something great to happen to her family so she can focus on herself for a change. Please TY give their family this gift.

  27. Hi I'm doing this for my mom and step dad. My mom is blind and my step father has prostate cancer and his only wish before he leaves this world is to get his house back like it was. He has helped everyone in his family, my mom family, and a lot of neighbors. Hee has been taking care of my mom for a long time she is the love of his life but now that the cancer has come in to their lives he can't do as much as he would like. It is hard for his grandchildren to come and stay because of the condition the house is in. He needs his spirit up lifted. Please Tye can you help my step dad and make his wish come true. Thank you and GOD bless.

  28. I am writing on behalf of my Grandma who raised 7kids and 24 grandkids. Selfless, loving and supporting without a quater raised us all the be successful Indivuduals . Not only has she suffered a life threatening aneurism ,stroke and last year blood clots that could take her life . A year later she is still holding on strong and getting better day by day!! The Dr. Told us we didn't have long with her and almost a year later she is doing better than ever . Unfortunately with finances and medical bills we as a family can't make these special days for her wonderful way as they should be . Living conditions are horrible we don't have the right equipment to bathe her or even give her a nice place to lay her head . With the cost of round the care treatment she stays in her home that's is rat, mold and bug infested . We have cleaned it to the best of our ability but it's still not good enough the house is old and it needs work . With everyone working the responsibility has landed on my mothers baby sister who is 40 years old she had given up everything to take care of my grandmother she has now moved my grandmother into her 1 bedroom home with little space and no ramp to get her in and out of the house . She works a full time job and has taken on the responsibility with little to NO help. If only her home could be renovated to where we would have the equipment and the resources to take care of my grandmother without having to put her into a home we could make these days amazing for her which is what she deserves . Please help and God Bless .

  33. I want to nominate The May Family from Orsnge NJ. This family has lived in this city over 5 generations. As. A child I went to school with several of the members. A very well know family in town tragically had a house fire and tragically lost 3 family members Sunday March 14th 2016 two were small children aged 2 and 8 years old and there uncle a 55 year old who was trapped on the 3rd floor of the home. As a small city all its members have lived in this home throughout there lives. This family is extremely close to the community and the grandmother has been active in helping others and taking in the less fortunate. This family not only has this loss but there are 3 in critical condition from trying to save family members including th mother of the 2 boys lost. Please help this family rebuild and try to heal from this tragedy
    Sincerely
    Shameca Denise Boykin

  34. Hey TY and ABC,
We The "Olde Towne Group" of Alcoholics Anonymous are about to be kicked out of our location after 31 years of providing free help to all those wanting to change their lives from the alcohol addiction. AA has changed many lives including mine, and we need help now. The city of Burleson (Texas) is knocking down the strip mall to make a bigger Parking lot for the City government- they own the property, so I guess they can do what they want. We need help in locating a building to maybe rebuild into something awesome so that maybe we can continue carrying the message for the next 30 to 100 years. we are self supporting , so we can pay for it and maybe in time own the place rather than rent as we have been the last 31 years- and now homeless sort to speak. the city is taking bids now, once they accept one, they begin tearing down in sept or October.
can you help us? we need to keep carrying the message.

  35. Dear Makeover Team- My name is Ashley Miller. I am 21 and a full time student at Cabrini College in Radnor, Pennsylvania. I am writing this for my father Andrew Miller. My father is 49 years old and about 10 years ago he was diagnosed with a medical condition called Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD). This is a nerve dysfunction that occurs throughout the entire body and causes excruciating pain. On a daily basis he will experience burning pain in his feet and hands. Also, swelling and stiffness to the hands and feet, which makes it very difficult to do the things he used to do like walk. To get around better my father has to use a cane or sometimes even a wheel chair if he has to walk for a long period of time. Since his condition my father has had to medically retire from work and most days is lying in bed because he is in so much pain. Unfortunately, there is no cure for this disease. Since my father has been on medical leave for such a long time now it has been hard for him to pay the bills. In addition to myself my father also has 3 other children. There is my 18-year-old sister Taylor, my 12-year-old sister Carly, and my 9-year-old sister Drew. My sister Taylor is a sophomore at Kutztown University in Pennsylvania. My Father and my stepmom Shonda live in Hammonton New Jersey with my sister Carly and Brother Drew. Recently my grandmother moved into the house with them because she was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Cancer. The doctor encouraged her to move in with my father because since she is so sick she really cannot live by herself anymore. Also, my stepmom recently got a really bad eye infection. She was diagnosed with what was called Pseudomonas and corneal ulcers that almost caused her to lose her eye. She doesn’t completely have her vision back but she still has her eye, which we are all thankful for. She is now not able to work but is still trying to do what she can to help support my father, grandmother, brother Drew and sister Carly. If all of that wasn’t enough since my father has been medically retired and my stepmom has a bad eye they haven’t had money to pay the mortgage. So soon they will be losing there house and are not sure what they are going to do. I know through all of these bad things we would all love to see something good happen for a change. If you could please help my family it would mean the world to me. Thank you for your time!

    Ashley Miller

  38. I am applying for the house I live in with my mom , my 5 siblings , and uncle. Our house has no floors and we have a 3 months old baby and my mom is working but doesn't make enough to pay bills and fix everything. She did have help at one time with my step dad martin plummer before he was murdered .. In this house this is the reason we have no floors . me and all my siblings except the baby share a room and before my step dad was murderd wich such was 2 years ago he was building a room onto the house and it never got finished . my mom is going through court at this time and she's stressing out and she has to deal with seeing pictures that she had already seen in person . she came in the house while he was laying on the dining room floor after he was shot and had to give CPR to him by herself I mostly want to do this to take stress of her shoulders if you guys choose my application, it will be a blessing to my whole family .my mom just wants us to be able to move on and its hard to do that when she is mainly stressing over getting floors and cabinets and new couches and everything so we can get back to some originality in our house. My mom has tried to get help from other companies but they all refused it all saying that the price is too much for them to fix it .. And at this point my mom is going through a lot and all this is just adding on so if you guys could fix this we would be so blessed to have your guyses help with this .

  39. Hi. My name is Megan. I am 17. I want to nominate my mom. She has survived so much in her life. She is a former police officer. My mom had cervical cancer and stage 4 endometriosis, while raising me and my younger brother and sister. She was a stay at home mom and my father worked and was gone alot. He was also abusive. My mom had several surgeries and survived. She decided to leave my father and became a cop. She has always taken care of us. In fact she always took care of everyone. She has taken in several kids who had no home and helped them. She taught me to be kind to others and to help anyone that is in need. I love my mom. She has been the one consistent in our lives. Her dad was her rock, he raised her and was an army vetren. He became ill from Vietnam. He was disabled from a stroke, and my mom took care of him while going through a nasty divorce and being in the police academy full time and still took care of us. I don't know how she did it. I was so proud of her when she graduated. My papa got better and the divorce was over and my mom met my step dad. Life was great. Then papa had another stroke, I suffer from PTSD and started self harming and mom tried to keep everything together. She got me help and always encouraged me to want to live. Papa owned our house and had things arranged for mom to get it if he died. Well he passed away on Valentine's day in 2014. My mom was devastated but even more so when she found out her aunt had canceled everything for the house and the life insurance policies. She filed a suit with the state that is still pending for elderly abuse. But the bank took the house. Mom tried to do everything, she went to court and did all paperwork the bank asked for. She quit being a cop because all of this took up so much time. She got a job as a cashier at a truck stop for $8 an hr. The bank denied her and took our home. My dad makes good money but he pays $1200.00 a month in child support for my step brothers. My mom only gets $400.00 a month from my father. She could've got more but she just wanted us. My mom works 90 hours in 2 weeks sometimes and struggles to buy food and pay rent. She never gives up though! I am a straight A student and want to become a doctor in neroscience.I worry about college but mom says she will find a way to afford it. I almost gave up on my life several times, but my mom never would let me. If she can survive everything she has I know I can make it through anything, especially with her in my corner! I want my mom to have her home again, to not worry about where my siblings will live. I don't want her to have to work so hard and keep losing everything. She always gives so much of herself to others and never asks for anything in return. I want her to see her hard work has paid off. Please help my mom finally have her home, so she can continue to help others and have a place all her family can gather together. Help me keep our family traditions of holidays alive. I want to be able to take my kids to my mom's and have grandma's house always be a place for us all to call HOME!

  40. Dear Extreme Homemakeover,
I am writing with the hope you can help a wonderful family in need.
My friends, who are more like family.
The husband/dad, is such a very hard worker, working long hours, even weekends to try to meet his familys needs. But never misses an opportunity to minister with his church family on Saturdays in another town, 45 minutes away, taking his children, to give his wife some alone time. Hes my husbands best friend.
The wife/mother is an inspiration. When I first met her, she was working full time, had just had a baby girl, and asked me to babysit for them. Around 2 years later, the mom suddenly had seizures. After much testing she was diagnosed with brain cancer. She went through surgery & radiation, and was placed on several medications. She is cancer free today. We praise God for His faithfulness. She remains on several medications. She worked about a year after these events, cancer free, but continuing to have severe seizures.
She was told she would never have any more children. During this time, she had a little boy. A miracle! I continued to watch her daughter, and her newborn son until the baby was 6 months old. But because of her continued seizures, she had to stop working outside the home.
Currently, finances are strained, I know.
They are expecting their 3rd child in a few months, the mom continues to take medications, which limit her in a lot of ways.
The daughter is 5 yrs old, the son is 2 yrs old soon. The family live in a single wide mobile home, with very little space inside or out for the children to play.
I would so love for innovative ideas to be brought in to help them utilize their indoor space better to meet their needs, and ESPECIALLY to create a secure, enclosed area right outside for the children to run and play, where the mom can feel safe letting them outdoors.
The mom is home, in the house, with the children, in the house, the majority of the time.
They are the nicest people you would ever want to meet. And would do anything to help a friend or stranger.
I hope you can help them, they are truly deserving.

  43. I'm writing on behalf of an AMAZING organization I work for, HANDY (Helping Abused Neglected Disadvantaged Youth) a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. HANDY's mission is to embrace, educate and empower vulnerable youth to become engaged, productive adults.

Our building is BURSTING with activity and we are also BURSTING at the seams.

In May 2008, HANDY acquired its new home, known as the “Wells Center" from a generous donation from The Wells Foundation. A 5,100 sq ft building, located just one block west of Federal Highway in Fort Lauderdale, FL, on a 20,250 sq ft of land, and remains conveniently located in the downtown area and accessible through public transportation.

HANDY annually serves more than 1,300 at-risk youth ages 9-25 who participate in comprehensive programs that focus on education, youth development, and economic self-sufficiency with a full time staff of 35. HANDY has significantly grown over the years and outgrown our home and in need of major renovations and expansion.

Since 1985, HANDY has served 50,000 children who have been raised in foster care, but mostly in relative and non-relative care. We are, in fact, the only program in Florida that specializes in dependent young who do not qualify for foster care benefits.

HANDY is, quite literally, the “go-to” organization in this community, filling in gaps in services as they emerge, to provide a seamless continuum of care. As the only agency who serves relative and non-relative care youth, the community and youth depend on HANDY to provide quality, cutting edge solutions to complex issues without the restrictions that other agencies are bound by.

We have figured out the secret sauce, now we just need an AMAZING building to build champions and change the lives of the AMAZING youth we serve.

    HANDY by the numbers…
    • 97% remained in school and were promoted to the next grade.
    • 95% graduate high school and 100% of our high school graduates matriculate to college or technical school.
    • 99% do not become pregnant or cause pregnancies.
    • 98% have stable housing.
    • 97% do not obtain law violations.

Please choose us, visit our website at handyinc.org and join our family! It'll change your lives as much as it will ours!

  47. Dear Makeover Team–I am writing this for someone else. I know there are others in dire need of help with their homes and hope they get that help.

This is being written for my daughters' homeschool
co-op volleyball coaches. They have volunteered to coach for many years. Throughout this time, they have been able to find places for the practices/games in old gyms with no heat and several church gyms. Their dream is to one day have a gym of their very own that the sports teams can use. No more struggling to find places. Last year, there was a water issue in the main church they used for practice. That church's gym floor was warped from the water. Our coaches knew how much a new gym floor would cost and the church said that we could have the old flooring if we took it up. What a blessing!
Our coaches tried at first, just their family, to take up the flooring. That was a MAJOR job. It turned out that several players and their families came to help. It took a while but we were able to get every board up.
Our coaches bought a building in hopes of eventually being able to fix it for a gym(since we had a floor now). They had been working on the building when they had the time.
But…this winter changed that. This area received around 14-16 inches of snow and with the weight of all that snow the building collapsed. My heart broke for them. It seems like they give and give of their time,
money, and strength and then this had to happen to them. This is my little way of trying to see their dream come true. They are a precious family and I wish they could see how much they are appreciated. Thank you for reading this and for all you all do for others!
    Thank you,
    Regina

  48. My name is Karen, I'm a 45 year old single mother with 2 children, 19 and 14. In September of 2015 we lost our home of 15 year due to flooding and financial reasons. My children and I made the decision to buy a trailer and move to their grandparents to help out with my brother who has cystic fibrosis, my sister who has Down syndrome and my elderly parents. We started building a cabin for my brother at my parents, but unfortunately everything came to a stop when my 14 year old son became ill and on December 30th 2015 was diagnosed with Pre-B ALL lekemia. He has been under going treatment since. Now our biggest stress is that the trailer is not sutable for my son to live in and my parents house is not big enough for my children and I to move into. My parents house is in need of a lot of renovations and work and it's not even big enough for the ones that live there now. All I want is to take my son home take care of him and remain my family's caregiver. Please help I'm heartbroken with all that's going on.

  49. Hello.
I am submitting on behalf of my mom, dad, and sister. On March 11th 2016 at 3:00 am their garage and house caught on fire. My mom and sister were in the house and my dad was working, (he is a police officer). My mom woke up to the smell of smoke and opened her bedroom door and all she saw was black heavy smoke she then quickly went to my sister's room and woke her up. She then ran to the living room got the phone left the house and dialled 911. She then realized our beloved pets were still in the house her and my sister ran back into the house in attempt to save our three house dogs two cats chinchilla and snake. They were only able to save one cat chinchilla and the snake. They lost their three dogs and one cat. In the meantime my dad who was working nights got called by dispatch over the radio that his house was on fire. He then rushed lights and sirens to the house and found my sister standing out front and my mother still in the house he ran to the front door and called for my mom with no answer. But then after a few minutes she came up the stairs and out the door. To make matters worse the insurance company has denied the claim. they are saying the insurance was cancelled but never notified my mom or our mortgage company so we are fighting it but it could be years before we get a pay out. Just when they thought things could not get any worse they got a call Saturday (the 12th) that the house was on fire yet again and that the OPP were asking for them. It has now turned into a crime scene and it is looking as though the fires have been set, They lost everything there isn't anything left of the house, they left all of their belongings as well as their pets, my father has been a police officer for over 30 years, over half that time a K9 handler. My dad retired January 1st of this year but took a 6 month contract ending in July. My mom is retired as a paramedic/firefighter on March the 1st after working there for over 20 years. This opportunity would be beyond amazing for them. They never deserved this to happen to them they need a house they have a farm they have horses. Right now they are driving 20 minutes each way to just be able to feed and water all of their horses. The fire caused the water supply to be cut off. They are currently pailing water from down the road from another barn, They really need this as they can not afford to build another house.
    Yours Truly,
    Brittany.

  50. I'm writing this on behalf of my younger sister Kate, her husband and her child Dexter. My sister beautiful boy, Dexter was born on July 13,2012 perfectly healthy. On September 13th 2013, Dexter was already walking when he tripped and fell hitting his chin. That fall caused a spinal stroke and he became paralyzed from the neck down. Our nightmare did not end there. After a few days in the ICU, he had a seizure that stopped his heart. Dexter went into a cardiac arrest and suffered anoxic brain injury. He was in a coma for a day and during that time doctors were not optimistic. They told us that even if Dexter will wake up he might be in a vegetative state. He will never breath on his own, never talk, walk or even know who we are. The doctors decided then to put Dexter on an ventilator, to help him breath. When eventually he woke up every one was in shock that he woke up so soon. At that moment our lives changed and Dexter’s fight to recover had began.

During the first year of his recovery, Dexter spend 6 months in a rehabilitation hospital where he begun his therapy. After just 3 months, he started to breath on his own and we were able to remove the trach. He started to have sensation in his feet and hands and started to move them slowly. Finally it was time for him to come home.

Everyday is a challenge for Dexter as well as it is for my sister and her husband but as his parents they do everything in their power to give him the best possible outcome he can have and for that I'm asking for your help. Dexter is continuing to make progress and with the right therapies and equipment, he’s reaching impossible goals. The therapies that Dexter requires are aquatic therapy, horse, dolphin and therasuit and unfortunately those therapies are not covered by their insurance. Without the right therapies and equipment, Dexter does not have a good chance in recovery, also they need a better house with the therapy room for Dexter. Lately Dexter has seizures and they are very dangerous and the doctors don't know why, everyday is they don't know what can happen to Dexter. My sister and her husband are doing their own therapy with Dexter everyday but this is not enough and they don't have a room and equipment's to help Dexter gets better. She calls everywhere for help and she doesn't gets it. I watch this show and I love it and I cry every time because I see what people go thro like my sister and you come like an Angels to help them.My parents sold their dream house to help my sister to by her a one level house but the house is still to small and the bathroom is very small and there is hard for them to wash him, he is getting bigger and my sister move him around the house in the wheel chair and there is no room, also the stairs to get out side are the problem too because they have to carry the wheel chair and him and this is dangerous because he gets bigger and my sister is a tiny person and she can fell down with him. My sister quit her job she owned her beauty salon to take care of her son. My parents help her a lot but they are not young too. I'm asking to help my nephew and my sister, maybe to get a therapy room and bathroom for Dexter at least. Dexter needs a safe home to live to get better. Please help Dexter to get better in better house. Thank you so much for everything.

  51. Hi Extreme makeover team!

My name is Eric but my friends and musician buddys call me Eman Groove.
I'm mid 50's and about to get a second chance at homeownership. I'm a divorced father with two beautiful girls who are young 20 something's with a lot going on for themselves. Their future is bright.
I work everyday as a transit operator for one of the largest and fastest growing counties in Atlanta. I've been with this profession 15yrs. I'm great at the job and dealing with the public can be very challenging at times.
I recently closed on a townhouse that has never been upgraded with any of the modern styles or conveniences you see today. I think the Extreme makeover team would find this to be a "showstopper" challenge that would really uplift me and the community. I'm reaching out to the executive producers to comeby and evaluate this property. It would be a great project to feature and highlight the crews genius ideas and creativity.
I would live to come home to a great home with a place to rehease my music then kick my shoes off to rest after a long day at the job.
Thanks for your time and consideration.
I hope to hear from you soon.

    Truly,

    Eric Gibson

  53. My best friend Jennifer is one of the most giving and loving person I've ever met. A single mother who gives everything to her child, friends and family before ever thinking or doing for herself. She is very active in the community and spreads happiness everywhere she goes. Over the last year she had become a single mother, had her car broken into and her purse stolen along with every bit of her identity. Then she was let go of her long standing job of 5 years and just recently found a new position, so things were beginning to look up for my friend Jenn. This weekend 1 week after beginning her new job it began to rain here in Louisiana. It's started north and west of us where devastating flood began. The rain moved into southeast Louisiana where my friends Jenn resides in a small rural community. The water began to rise into her back yard ditch. This isn't the first time her area has had flooding but she knew it was time to get out of dodge. With her 3 year old in tow she dressed them quickly and left her home in the early dark morning hours with the water rising all around her. Roads were quickly being inundated and washed out. Yesterday she was able to return to her home where she found it still standing in water. As she entered her home it was devastating. Her whole life was floating above knee height, her child's toys floating around in his playroom, books and dvds. This family is a disney family and there is a particularly disturbing image from her son Ashton's bedroom where Monkey mouse is floating face up in the corner. Most of her clothes and shoes have been ruined, her sons baby book, many of her momentos. She was also devastated during hurricane Katrina in 2005 so this whole situation has brought some all too familiar feelings. My friends Jenn deserves this for no other reason than that she would give anything up for her son, friends and family, the community in general and now she needs our help.

  54. Hi. My name is Jennifer, and I'm wanting to tell you about my sister in law and her husband. Kristi and Bo have some of the biggest hearts I've ever seen. They are always putting others ahead of themselves. Tragically they lost their perfect Ryder at 3 months. He passed away in his sleep. Kristi got pregnant with a beautiful daughter. However, the placenta ripped, causing Savannah to pass away too. We almost lost Kristi. This family has gone through too much. I could go on forever about the amazing things about this couple. They deserve a new bedroom. I would appreciate your help. Thanks. Jennifer

  57. Hi, I would like to tell you a little bit about my sister and her family and why I believe that they really need a miracle such as this not only because of their poor living conditions but also because of the tragedy that they experience recently and is effecting them everyday.
They live in a small town where everyone knows everyone, they have 7 children and live in a house that is not a save environment for children because it has poor uneven floors, huge whole in some rooms where the drywall has come off and you can see into the wall, very poor foundation and worst of all bad wiring throughout the house which recently cost them the life of their 15 year old son Peter. Peter was a very energetic young man who was like the family's source of fun and laughter, Peter loved animals, they had a chicken coop in the back yard and Peter went to check on the chickens on a daily basis especially at night to make sure that they were warm and had everything they needed for the night. This wasn't a requirement for him to do as a choir but he did religiously because of his love for the animals. One day as he went to check on the chickens he opened the door to the chicken coop kneeled down on the wet ground and crawled in to ensure that their food and water supply was sufficient his shoulder made contact with the heat lamp and was electricuted. This was due to the bad wiring coming from the garage, they lost their son because of the condition of the house, this family is devestated and broken now, they are trying to improve the condition of their house but with the fathers health condition he does not have a job currently and with minimal income it is almost impossible for them to improve the condition of their home so that it is a safe environment for the family. Although I'm sure that a lot of family's need this, without your help I know that this will remain a risk to the whole family. Please consider helping this family. This would truly be a miracle and an answer to many many prayers. Thanks for reading my story and if there is anything I can do to help it I would be happy to assist in anyway. If you would like more information please contact me anytime.

  58. Hello,
My name is Matt Ludwick and I'm a disabled veteran, but this isn't for me. It is ingrained in my blood to help others and to serve. This makeover is for my older brother. His name is Nate Ludwick. He and my grandfather built this house in 2003. His house burned up about a month ago. It is destroyed, not 100%, but it's not in good enough condition to rebuild. It is very structurally unsound.
He was at work when he received the call that his home was being destroyed. He closed his shop, rushed home, and tried to fight the fire with a garden hose. He actually beat the fire department there. He sprayed it, he threw dirt on it, but he had to watch his home burn.
The sad thing about this is about a month before his house caught fire, he received a call from his grandparents. They informed him that his dad just died. He had no health issue, nothing at all wrong with him. Nate was having a very difficult time dealing with the death of his father but he kept his nose to the grindstone. He kept working, and tried to act like he was ok. He had a lot of people fooled but not me, I'm his brother. His shop kept him busy enough he didn't have time to think about it.
Now that his house is destroyed, he still tries to put on a strong face, but everyone can see right through it. The death of his father and his home being destroyed has taking a horrible toll on him. To top it off, Nate's wife left him after the house burnt down. I understand that she needs a place for her kids, but hasn't he been through enough already. Nate spent so much time and energy focusing on trying to salvage what he can from his house that he has closed his shop. He now lives in a tiny storage shed. He stayed in there through the coldest month of the year. He is in such a horrible depression after all of this.
It absolutely kills me to see him like this. The fact that I'm unable to rebuild the house for him makes me feel like a horrible person. I feel like I am watching him loose his whole livelihood. I really believe that if I could get a house rebuilt for him, it would get him out of this dense fog that he's in. You are the only thing I can think of that may be able to save him. Please, is there anything that you can do? It would mean the world to me.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart,
    Matt Ludwick

  61. Hello I am asking for extreme home makeover to help my mom and dad out they live in Delaware due to the fact that my dad lost his job of 30 some yrs now they live in a old trailer that's not in the greatest conditions. 62. Hi,
My aunt and uncle have lived in the same house for about thirty years. When they bought it, it was a nice home to raise their family in, which they did. Three boys and two girls and a bunch of grandkids later, their house is not in the best shape. The rooms are small, the roof is cracked, there's not much storage, the floor is not level… Etc.
They are wonderful, loving people. My aunt is a children's counselor, and my uncle was forced to retire.
He has very severe type-1 diabetes. what most people don't know is that it can effect everything. So he cannot work, so they live on one income with extensive medical bills. Including surgery bills, and even amputation for part of his foot.
    They are wonderful wonderful people!
    Thank you,
    Jayci

  63. My husband and I have only been married a year but have known eachother since we were teens. We dated in highschool and ended up getting pregnant before my freshman year was even half over. We decided to break things off before our daughter was born, but always kept eachother in our own thoughts. After a few years apart and a few years of growing up, we started to spend more time together and the old flame between us sparked back up. After a few years of living together with my parents and our school aged daughter we were surprised with a generous inheritance of an old farm house and 13 acres of run-down land in Central Illinois. The property is quite old with a cellar and septic system said to be be civil-war era design and the land, while becoming more spacious and diverse as the years pass, was used for monocropping and treated poorly for many years. After making the house as livable as possible over the summerof 2013 we moved in and started life out on the farm that we now dearly love. House renovations never end and we are far from being finished or even up to code in some instances, but we have a very modest budget and are always busy with the next project while homeschooling our pre-teen and toddler son.
For our land we plan to farm organic food, medicinal herbs and flowers, raise chickens ducks, goats, sheep, pigs and task on shelter dogs. Restoring prairie land for native plants and pollinators that our beautiful state so desperately needs would be a dream come true for us. We have applied for grants but state budget has little left over for conservation but with a little help we could share hope for the future with our community and nature. Thank you for your consideration.

  66. Hi. My name is Maranda. I'm not applying for myself, but for my well deserved Grandma named Judy Broussard. She is the most miraculous woman I know and if anyone should get the chance to have a home made just for her, she's that person. Her heart is aching right now and honestly, her house is just causing more and more hassle to her already hectic life.

My Grandma has been the caregiver to not one, but multiple people in our family. First, my Great-Great Grandmother, who suffered with dementia in the remaining time we had her in our lives. Constantly worried, day and night, about her well being is as my grandma did. She was faced with the duty of moving my Great-Great grandmother into her home due to her parents being elderly and unable to care for my Great Great grandmother. She did so until the day my Great-Great grandmother passed at the age of 94 under the care of hospice and herself.
Then, once again, she was faced with the choice of leaving her rented home and moving into (what is now her home) my Great grandparents house to care for them as well. My Great grandfather fell Ill due to heart issues and my Great grandmother soon fell Ill as well with dementia. She delt with the daily tasks of caring for them as well as my grandfather, Maxie broussard. She was always on the go, non stop, cooking, cleaning, feeding, bathing, just the general care of 3 people as well as herself, which she honestly didn't take time for she was so selfless. My Great grandfather fell ill with congestive heart failure later in the years while she was caring for him. He too was on hospice and later passed away due to his condition.
As if that wasn't enough, her mother(my great grandmother) soon fell ill with dementia and that soon turned to Alzheimer's. She then had to care for my great grandmother around the clock being she wasn't in her right mind and would fall a lot getting up in the middle of the night roaming around, not really knowing who was who, what was happening, or where she was. My grandma soon was faced with my grandpa falling ill and decided that it was time to focus on her husband's care and handed the job of caring for my Great grandma over to her sister and an amazing care facility with specialists in her disease. The family decided to give my grandma the house being she had cared for so many of our loved ones and didn't own a home of her own.
A couple years passed and we found out in July 2015 that the reason my grandfather had fallen so sick was due to a terminal cancer found in fluid surrounding his lungs due to his time served in Vietnam and being exposed to the toxin called "Agent Orange". We were given a time span of 6-8 months, but only got to enjoy the short time of 6 months due to his body being so sick. He recently passed at the age of 69 on February 13, 2016. His birthday later came on March 3. We miss him dearly and are now faced with the problems of finances and bills being he was the sole income with VA benefits. With this being said, she is now faced with no income, a very old home, and her well-being.
When my grandpa was diagnosed in 2015, we not only had to face the fact that he would soon be gone due to cancer, but the fact that my grandmother was diagnosed as well with Colon cancer, which she had unknowingly had for up to 10 years because of neglecting herself while trying to care for so many people. She sadly is declining treatments, but is still thriving as her life goes on. Honestly, its as if she was never diagnosed.
The reason I believe she could use a home makeover is because we have had to handle so many problems since the passing of my Grandpa. From electrical wiring being decades old, to damage of the structure over the years, to plumbing, to more and more problems popping up as we go. We could really use the help. We worry about her constantly, day after day, night after night. We all just want her to enjoy her life being she never has in the past. She is the strongest, most caring, selfless woman I have ever met and she deserves to finally just worry about her.

Please take her into consideration. All I want is for her to be happy. Enjoy every bit of her time here without all the hassles that are piling up day after day. Just to see her finally at peace and care free would mean more than words to me, as well as my family. God bless and have a nice day. Thank you for your time.

  68. My mother is 92yrs old and young at heart. She's in good health and the only complaint is her lower back. My mother has lived in her home since the early 1950's. My.parents have had HARDSHIPS with their home. Before my Dads death, mother decided to expand the house to move my sister and her kids in and help her with her 3 boys, since she works swing shifts and her husband passed away. House never got finished. She hired a man that was working on a house down the street. His workers finished half of the house and never came back. Wintertime and my dad sick. My parents didn't have the money to sue. After my dads death, my mom has spend and took out loans to finish her home. The workers that have come over to work on her home over the years took advantage of a old woman. Her house does not look at all remodeled, holes in kitchen and hallway stairs leading upstairs have no railing, both bathrooms need work, needs new floors through out, has no heat or air conditioning, stucco falling off on corner of the house and a back yard that could look awesome if we had money. My mother deserves a Extreme makeover. She has helped family. Friends and strangers throughout her life. Always giving of herself and giving items too mothers off the street that may need a little help. She learned oil painting a few years after moving to Montebello. She has been a member of the Southland art association since the 1950's. She has given art lessons with min. pay. She has always said that her home is the families safe house, in case of hardship, her children and grandchildren can live their till they get back on their feet. Now my sister and brother live and help her plus 3 grandsons are working and living with her also. My brother died two years ago from the West Nile Virus. My mother sleep and never left the hospital for months. Since his death she has not not picked up a brush to paint a picture. This makeover could help her move forward and enjoy her house and a beautiful backyard so she can paint again and teach her students Art that has been a big part of her life and keeping her young at heart, mind and body.

  69. I am writing this for my parents. I would love to give them a home for all that they have done for me. My dad is a U.S. Army veteran and has gone through some scary patches; he had to have both knees replaced which he almost thought that he would lose them because of the surgery, but thankfully has come a full 360 and both are fully healed and he has even lost weight. My mom has also gone through some rough patches as well; she found out that she had breast cancer some time ago and had to have a mastectomy and have both breasts removed. She also just recently had surgery on one of her knees(not as bad as my dad's thankfully) and will be having the other one done soon as well. Both have gotten me through tough times and know how much I care about them. When I was active duty in the military I loved getting their calls every weekend and still to this day get them on the weekend(I may not have much to say, but I love hearing how they are doing and what is going on where they live). There is more to as to why I want to give them the dream home they deserve, but I feel like it would take all the page, so i'll leave it as is. I would love for my own family to have a home, but my parents are far more deserving then me because they raised me and mean so much to me.

  73. Good morning, I'm not applying for myself but for someone in our community who gives so much to get neighbors, family, & friends. Mrs. Patricia Jones is and exemplifies what Angels sent by God means. From 5am til late she's plating taxi, feeding people, raising nieces, nephews, and her own family since the passing of her mother. Taking care if everyone financially, spiritually & at times feel so unappreciated. She never looks down on anyone & if they're hungry, she make sure whoever it is, they're going to eat. Whatever she has, she gives with an open heart. She's so beautiful to others & always have encouraging words to make ones life better. She doesn't live in the best house on the block but with what she can do she's trying to fix her home with the little means she had. It would be a blessing to see her get the home of her dream to pass down to her children & grandkids. I know there's a lot of deserving people out there but this woman really deserves a reward for all the sacrifices she makes & her selfless acts of kindness that she gives everyday. Her health isn't the best but she still wakes up serving & showing love to all who know her. Please if you could consider helping her it would be highly appreciated & I know she'd be a bigger blessing to those around her. Thank you. D. Harris

  75. Dear ABC,
A story like mine is not one that you could make up. I guess that I should begin at the beginning. In July 2006, I gave birth to my son Damien, and then in November our family was hit with what we considered to be a tragedy at the time. So needless to say her and her family which included her mother, and two sisters moved in with me and my boyfriend and son. We put all these people into a two bedroom one bath house, with no kitchen. I cooked on a two burner hot plate and griddle. We later moved into a 3 bedroom 2 bath mobile home, and I found out I was pregnant with my second child in 2008. In January 2009, I gave birth to my daughter, Briyanna. It was this year that we were able to separate from my sister-in-law and her children. They were able to get their own place to live. In the process my children’s father and I found a place to buy in another county and on a whim we started sinking money into this house. New carpet, new linoleum, and new paint all around. It was looking like home. But barely a year there and the heater caught fire in the furnace. The ceiling fell in and a huge hole in the brand new floor. On top of that the man we were buying the house from had a huge lean on the home and it went into foreclosure. We didn’t have that kind of money to stay or attempt to fix. So we just left it. It’s been one house after another trying to find the house that would be our forever home. In 2014, our daughter was diagnosed with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), my son was diagnosed with Asperger’s Autism in 2015. On top of that the Kids daddy had to go through two surgeries to repair his colon and rectum and remove an extremely large growth, that had grown from inside his colon out. When the growths were sent to pathology it was determined that it was pre-cancerous. All on top of his sister returning to live with us, this time with two daughters, two grandsons, and one on-the-way. I also had his brother and his family living with us at the time. It was 14 people. Three separate families under one roof! I have cooked for all 14 people, and cleaned up behind 14 people. Now everyone has been able to leave again and have a permanent home. Our home has fallen into disrepair. We are fighting black and green mold, leaky roof, no heat in the winter, no air in the summer, floors are falling in, and bathrooms are falling apart. We are also fighting BEDBUGS! And Roaches! All of this on me and my children’s father Anthony. I don’t know that people can get more but I am sure that people do get dealt worse hands. Because this past June 2015 we had a tornado come through our area and took out my neighbor’s home I was silently thanking God because I wouldn’t have been able to come back from that. My roof was damaged and now I am worried it will not last the rest of the year. Jobs are scarce in my area, and I go to school full time looking for a bachelor’s degree in allied health management. I am looking forward to being finished my education and have more reliable income. But for the time being Here is hoping!!!!!!!!!
