Here is your chance to audition for the Broadway production of the Disney’s Newsies. The show is based on the real 1899 newsboy strike. The musical, adapted from the 1992 Disney movie of the same name starring Christian Bale, tells the story of a rebellious newsboy Jack Kelly. He dreams of life as an artist away from the big city. After publishing giant Joseph Pulitzer raises newspaper prices at the newsboys’ expense, Kelly and his fellow newsies take action. With the help of a female reporter the city soon recognizes the power of “the little man.”
The production is looking for ECC/Dancers in New York, NY. Auditions will be held on Monday, April 4th. This is an equity chorus call. The production is a tiered tour; tier c and the pay is $1,335 minimum per week. Auditions will be held at Pearl Studios NYC 519 8th Avenue, 12th Floor, New York, NY 10018. No late comers will be admitted.
This is an Actors’ Equity required Chorus Call. All Equity members will be seen first. Non-Equity dancers will be seen after all Equity dancers. This is for Equity male and Equity female dancer. The audition times will be 10am for Equity female dancers and 12pm for Equity male dancers. Dancers should be between the ages of 16 and 22 years old. Please come ready to dance for all of the above auditions with sneakers, tap shoes and comfortable clothing. You should bring a picture and resume stapled together.
The show is currently running on tour and casting directors are seeking possible future replacements. The casting call is for Male Ensemble Dancers, Males, to play 16-22. All ethnicities. Strong, technically trained dancers with a knack for physicality. Think Michael Kidd. Should also tap and sing very well. Possible principal understudy assignments.
