That’s right! Just when you thought the show was over, producers decided, the show must go on! Models will have another chance to compete to see who will be America’s Next Top Model! While it was previously announced that the show would be coming to an end, it looks like VH1 disagreed. The network picked up the show for Cycle 23! The show first hit the small screen in May of 2003 and won America over. For the last 13 years we have watched hopefuls vie to win the title by participating in photo shoots and fashion related challenges and then critiqued by the judges. Contestants hope to grow every week and impress the judges so they don’t get sent home.
This past October, Tyra took to her Twitter account and announced that Cycle 22 would be the end of the show by saying “Thinking #ANTM22 should be our last cycle. I truly believe it’s time. May your pics be forever fierce.” After rumors swirled that the show may in fact return to a different platform, it was recently announced that VH1 had picked up the show and that casting directors were now accepting submissions. If you missed your chance to audition a few months ago or didn’t make it on, you have another chance!
VH1 and Michelle Mock Casting opened submissions for the next season. There hasn’t been too much released about the show yet and the open call dates haven’t yet been determined, however, casting directors are now accepting emailed submissions. What still seems unclear is who the judges will be. Tyra released a press released that said, she would still be involved in the show, but behind the scenes stating, ““After creating an incredible, global brand, I am beyond excited to have the show reborn. I will continue as Executive Producer, but must turn my attention to new business endeavors, so I want to find a new host.” VH1 announced on their website that the premiere date, host and panel of judges would be announced at a later date. I never thought of myself as photogenic and never thought my walk was up to par. I was always the one behind the camera taking photos for other people because I never wanted to be in them.
