I'm what you might call an otaku which is just fancy talk for an anime freak who loves to read manga watch anime and cos-play as some of my favorite characters. My room is covered from top to bottom in posters from my favorite animes and movies even the ceiling actually I'm nearly out of room I have over 200 books of manga as well as swords from certain series of anime in which i have watched 300 titles of if I haven't seen it I've heard of it. not only that but I'm a huge gamer from PC games such as runescape to wow to gw2 and so on as well as that I also play video games via Xbox and Wii and to this day I still have my game boy advance. my interests beyond that are medevil lifestyle and battle methods like fighting with swords and armor riding large war horses and also a love for the zombie apocalypse life. and yes I even love and have played yuh gi oh and Pokemon. I would be a great candidate for king of the nerds because not only am I smart, clever, witty and saucily sarcastic but I am also funny, quirky and moderately beautiful. Not only will I be a source of endless entertainment but also maybe a good showmance starter(the first for KotN unless that's changed with season 3 but it hasn't aired yet so who knows?). But wait there's more! In addition to being a shameless flirt to make my geeky brethren blush I can also be a hot button pushing instigator if someone wants to act a fool and try to play me before I win the crown. Along with these attributes I also have the availability to actually compete. I work for a VERY well known charity's homeless shelter and have amassed plenty of vacation time in order to do so plus I'm in my twenties so life experiences has not jaded me into a cynic just yet. My name is James Alessi, I am a 31 year old teacher of social studies (I am also a lawyer but don't hold that against me – although a fun nerd fact is that I listened the superman theme song the entire time I drove to take the bar exam). Students love my class because it is the comic book class. I have created a comic and normal book library for my students and they love it. I am a father of two girls. Both with middle names from comic book characters. The picture below has probably less than half of the graphic novels I own. I have been collecting since I was 9. I have a superman, captain America, Thor, and a blue triangle (from my favorite alien book) tattoo. I am very proud to call myself a nerd and teach my students it's great and amazing to be yourself no matter what your interests are. (That's why I hang my comics, Star Wars, transformers and all other nerdy stuff in my class. I show them I'm very happy to be me.) I don't want to go too much into myself because you said "brief bio" but I tell many people half the reason I love my wife (we got engaged at comic con its on you tube at nycc 2012 archie proposal) is because she has allowed me to hang my framed superman movie, empire strikes back, and captain America movie posters, along with my framed first appearance of Deadpool issue, my superman signed by Jerry Siegel issue and my one of a kind cover drawn by legend Jerry Ordway superman comic up on the walls and gave me more space than any woman should to put my toys and signed comics. I've cried when I saw trailers for man of steel and Star Wars 7 because I was just so happy they were coming out. My best friend owns my towns comic book store. My other best friend is a successful sci fi/comedy author. I started playing dungeons and dragons when I was around 8 and have been a gamer on console, computer and table top ever since. I have to say my favorite is RPGs but I shine brightest in fighting games. Probably because I have been playing mortal Kombat since I was 6. Now I a great and many different genres and can adapt to others quickly.
I would say on a scale from one to ten my nerdiness on comics is a high 7 at the least. I grew up with marvel and DC and always wanted to be a superhero. I don't have many comics or know most of the older stories but I have a good amount of knowledge to hold my own.
I have to say technology isn't my thing mainly because I am a huge fan of shields and swords. Ever since dungeon and dragons I always thought of living in those times. I have spent time with my friends for hours practicing with bows and throwing knives, mostly for the zombie apocalypse but hey, beats reloading a gun.
I love mythology. I have to say my favorite is Greek but Norse is a close second. I have always been fascinated with the gods and heroes, their adventures and creatures they meet and always pretended I was them. Nerdy right?

I'm a HUGE Star Wars fan. I have a tattoo of the Jedi Code on my arm from the Knights of the Old Republic video games on the old x-box, which are two of my favorite games of all time. My favorite Star Wars movie is Episode IV: A New Hope because I love the feeling of starting an adventure. If I could be anything, I would be a professional adventurer. 🙂 But since I don't think that career exists, I really want to work in a museum or become an actress. My other favorite video games are Mass Effect 1, the other two kinda sucked, Fallout 3, and Skyrim. I also love Tales of Symphonia, and tactics games on my awesome 3DS. I also have a PS3 and an Xbox, but…I hate the Xbox, I only play Dance Central on it. So, as you can tell, I'm a RPG gamer and a 3rd person shooter gamer (and tactics which I already said).
I'm also a huge Lord of the Rings fan. I have numerous LOTR licensed replica swords and staffs. I hate how Peter Jackson left out Tom Bombadil in The Fellowship, but added a whole female elf in the new hobbit movies. That being said…she is kinda hot…
I love playing table top games like Dungeons and Dragons, but not 4th ed., I hate 4th ed.. But I also love playing Dead Lands, Mutants and Masterminds, All Flesh Must Be Eaten, Star Wars: the Saga Edition, etc. This might be due to the fact that I love acting…or it might be that I just love hanging out with other fun people. I like playing nerdy card games like Munchkin, Fluxx, Anima, Cards Against Humanity, Marvel's Legendary (which is F'ing awesome). Oh, and I'm a Marvel girl too. Not really into DC comics, but I love Vertigo comics. Shadow Cat would kill everyone – you know…if she was a villian…I also really enjoy nerdy board games like Twilight Imperium, Ticket to Ride, Pandemic, Trivial Pursuit, Pictionary, Cranium, Arkham Horror, etc. I love pretty much everything sci-fye or fantasy. My favorite TV shows are Babylon 5 and Buffy (seriously, watch them – love them.)
However – even though I just explained my nerdiness in probably too much detail, I don't appear nerd-like (except if someone asks about my tattoo – then it's obvious). I'm a 5'5'' brunette, that's not socially awkward at all. I'm a great public speaker, I work out on a regular basis, I bathe twice a day, and if I have spending money I usually spend it on clothes rather than on comics or action figures. I'm confident (for the most part), I'm not easily offended, and I'm into sports like softball, soccer, American football and golf. I don't do well with people that offer "free hugs" at conventions and act like they're starving for attention, which (let's face it) are most nerds. Also, I'm completely right-brained – I'm horrible at sciency-stuff, and anything beyond basic algebra…
