Step aside Glee, and do your crooning somewhere else. Netflix has announced it’s next amazing production and it’s combination of dance, song, art and drama is guaranteed to have everyone talking. Baz Luhrmann (The Great Gatsby) has signed on to bring the gritty period musical drama The Get Down to life and a nationwide search for talent is underway. An all new breakthrough series from a breakthrough broadcasting platform is coming and so is the chance for aspiring performers of all ages to audition for it.

This is where Luhrmann will take his audience, to the diverse and vibrant area of the South Bronx, where the story will focus on a group of teenagers tied in to the groundbreaking art world of the city, at the beginnings of rap, hip-hop and punk music. Baz will turn his keen eye and refined ear for music to this rich location and even richer time period for a coming of age tale unlike any entertainment has seen before. Luhrmann will be making this his next directorial effort and will be behind the camera for several episodes while he serves as producer alongside the Emmy nominated Shawn Ryan, who has been lauded for his past creations The Unit and The Shield.
