  1. I have a friend that has been diagnosed with the advanced stages of Parkinson's Disease.
He has been divorced for many years and lives alone in a home, that is in my opinion, uninhabitable. He has several roof leaks that he is unable to repair, which have damaged the home. The house was built in the 1940s or 50s and is adequate for him in size, but he will not be able to stay in the home once he is wheelchair bound. He will not be able to access the hall, bath or bedrooms. Nor will he be able to use the shower, as it is a bathtub unit.

He was in the military, supported children that were not his own in his prior marriage and has to continue working despite his physical limitations (he is in his late 50s) because he is trying to save money to fix his home before his disease completely disables him.

He does not make much money and I am very concerned for his future.

He has always helped others in need and gives as much as he can to support his god son and his god son's mother as well as taking care of his own family members.

His ex-father in law lived in the home for the past 20+ years. (He made a promise to the ex-father and mother in law they could remain in the home for the rest of their lives and he lived up to his word, even though there times that he was homeless.

He is a saint that never asks for anything in return. I am praying we can make it possible for him to remain in his home for the rest of his life. This would be an incredible gift to give a man who has always been self reliant and giving to others.

    Respectfully,
    Dena K. Pepe

  2. I see a lot of heart felt stories people pouring their Hearts out on here but if you google home extreme make over. There is not anything on there. I did my story every year on here and never heard anything.I wonder if anyone is listening, other than people typing there stories. I work full time single MOm . 2 autistic children with know one else or family to help & my house is falling a part around me. I even wrote to senator. There are no housing grants for people that work. If you dont work there are agencies that help. Its frustrating scraping money together to survive & being scared of whats going to happened to you & loves ones. I pray for all the people that are typing there heart felt stories on here get some type of help.

  4. Hello. I know you get 1000 of home requests. This is not a request for me. This isa request for a dear friend of mine, Karl Hall. Karl just recently had one of the most horrific events happen to his family. He lost his home in a house fire right at Christmas 2014. In that fire his 7 year old daughter sadly lost her life. Karl has had to start over fresh. He lost everything. He also has 2 little boys. He injured his hand pretty badly trying to save his little girl.
I truly feel like his family deserves this. He is having a very hard time accepting his little girl is gone. I know his family is struggling and this would be huge. Please Home Extreme Makeover, bring my friend home. Thank you.

  5. Hello my name is April. I would like to nominate my mom for help with her home. My mom is a wonderful person who has been through a lot in the past few years. She lost my dad 2 years ago. She has raised two children through guardianship with no help. She is also a foster parent. She is a loving woman who is always giving to others and never puts herself first, and she is in need of help with her home. her home needs a lot of improvements and repairs. as a widow she cannot do it on her own. Unfortunately, she is going to be having surgery soon. I help when I can but it is hard for us all. She has no idea that I am asking for this opportunity for her. It would be a wonderful blessing for her to have the opportunity to have your help. So she could continue to provide the loving support that she does for others.

  6. My sister and brotherin law are in desperate need of a home makeover" It all started six years ago my brother in law Albie was diagnosed with a gleoblastoma brain tumor the entire family has been devastated . Every day is a gift but my brother in law has lost a lot of his vision and his mobile skills are frail he was always a strong marine and always took, great care of everyone since he has gotten sick the house is literally falling apart but he will not except help from anyone he is a very proud and trys to do small improvements himself. I would love to see them recieve this gift of a makeover so he can rest easy and he and my sister can enjoy their home again for how ever long he has left. Thank you

  7. Hi there I am applying on behalf of my parents from arlington texas. I want to nominate my parents to get the home makeover because it is in need of help and bring our home back to normal how it once was. My little brother is diagnosed with medullablastoma two tears ago and our house is not really a healthy and neat environment there are cockroaches that are invading our rooms mold is growing on our sink, my parents tried hard renovating but since my brother has not yet beaten, cancer they gave up on the house and we also do not have the finances to fix it up I'm praying for a miracle to get the home fixed and a better environment for the sake of my brother, and for our family to have a better home I don't know anyone better than my parents who have had sleepless nights my dad missing work just to bring a smile to my brother. GOD BLESS

  8. I am applying for the Scafuri family. Their 16yr old son was the victim of a hit and run accident one evening, when he was returning home from Volleyball tryouts. He became paralyzed from the neck down due to the accident. This boy is amazing as he has not once complained about his condition. On the contrary he has accepted it and is thankful to be alive. He has moved a community who has not accepted his condition to stay positive and have faith. He is so head strong, loving, funny, courageous, I could go on forever about what I think of him. He will need to be cared 24-7. It would be a blessing for the family to have their home made accessible to his condition. #TEAMALEX

  9. Hi my name is Amanda Orem. I am applying for my father who has no idea I am doing this lol … My dad is always there for people to the point he has nothing left … he has had his home for 5 + years I believe and it looks as if he has just moved into the home 🙁 I have done EVERYTHING in my power to find things off the side of the road or to get what I can when I can to help make his house look like a home for years now and it's just not working not to mention I don't have the finances either … He helps ANYBODY he knows or hears is in need if it means him eating pb&j / microwavables / ramen … I have watched this man go with out to make sure others have since I was young. He has seen people standing on the side of the dollar store and seen they were trying to sell reefs just to make a Christmas possible for their children and we were struggling so bad but he didn't care he took the mother in and let her pick out some stuff for her children put our stuff we were somewhat in need of back and also bought the mother and father a gift card for dinner for the family so they could have Christmas dinner … he has a HUGE heart and it hurts that he never gets anything in return. He has worked everyday of my life as a respatory therapist and goes to work everyday sick, sad, bad weather it doesn't matter. I know it would be life changing for him … he has tried to make a man cave that just doesn't look anything like what a man cave should. His kitchen is extreamly to small … his back yard is so pitiful … 98% of the little bit he has is from family or off the side of the road or things that have been in the family for YEARSSSSS … I would love to send a video or pictures so you could see … He is beyond worthy of actually having something to call his … I just want to give him something to make his heart melt and let him know that he is beyond appreciated. HE DESERVES looking forward to coming home NOT wishing he could just sell his home and get a little studio apt. I could go on for days to tell you what a great man he is and how huge his heart is I am just asking that you guys PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE help me CHANGE my dad's life ….

  10. I have started to apply for my momma numerous times in the past and have not. My deciding factor was on Tuesday, March 24, when my momma was hospitalized again for breathing problems and her crying in the hospital because I would have to go in her house to take care of her dogs. It was terribly sad. My momma had two children, myself and my brother who is three years older than me. My momma was divorced when I was small and didn't remarry until US kids were young adults. She was dedicated to taking care of us kids. Her momma lived with us so we would not have to stay with a stranger while she worked. We had an AWESOME childhood, we grew up in a home full of love. Our home always spotless! Momma worked hard to pay for our home, she actually walked from our home which was in one city to another city to get to work when she didn't have no other means. She had to be at work for 6:00 a.m. I could tell you of many sacrifices my momma has made to take care of her children, to take care of her momma, to help family, and to help friends. In 2005, Katrina hit, our step dad was hospitalized because he needed oxygen and it couldn't be gotten due to the storm. He was released, the next month my momma had to have triple bypass surgery which was October 2005. In November 2005 our step dad passed away. This left my momma in a downward spiral because she had NEVER been alone. With depression setting in and her being ill it is very difficult for her to do around her house and not having the funds to fix everything. The house is so deteriorated, you can see the roof from the living room which she has a bucket to catch water when it rains. There are numerous hazards at the home which does NOT help her health. There are actually rats that get in her home. My momma still works full time, she still struggles to make ends meet. She has given so much of herself to her kids, family, and friends that I just keep praying some how we can get something done for her. She doesn't complain not does she ask for anything, she is always giving. I greatly appreciate having the opportunity to submit my momma in hopes she can live in a healthy environment and hopefully help prevent further illness. Thank you.

  11. Greetings to everyone at Home Makeover.I'm writing to ask for your help with our home. We bought ourstorey & a half in 1978 out in the country, as a fixer uper with huge expectaions for our fisrt home. In 1981 my husband lost his job of 13 years & from then forward we struggled. I found jobs where ever I could ,but in the end we ended up on welfare for a very long time. I decideed to go back to collage to get my degree in Early Childhood Education, but that was cut short due to my 16 year old son being hit by a speeding car. He remained in a comafor 3 week & now suffers from severe Acquirred Brain Injury With our lives on hold for 2 years,I finally became a rehab therapist for acqured brain Injured clients. Working for almost a year practically 7 days a week we thought we could see the light, but tragedy stuck again, with me this time. I developed a rare life threating disease which is Dermatomyositis Polymyositis.I was bed ridden for 6 months & in a wheel chair for 4. I still suffer from it today when I'm stressed.I have scoliosis & I'm unable to work due to my health problems. My husband finally found seasonal work on road construction & has worked for 12 years for the same company but is off during the winter months. Due to his work & the envirnment he developed C.P.O.D & is on 4 different inhalers. We raised our children, paid off the morgage But through all this we could never manage to fix the house & it is literally falling in around us. The septic doesnt work right, the bathroom leaks to the point the walls swell, the bath tub has sunk, there is black mold in the basement, the pipes are rotted & the beams to the under the house have shifted considerably. Kitters enter the house all the time, there is bats in the attic, mice throught the house & birds enter from all the holes. We are both in our sixties & our health is failing due to our situation. I realize there are others worse off then us, but it would mean the world to us to be able to live in a home in our later years that doesn't make us sick. Thank you for the things you do for other you are simply amazing.

  12. Hello Everyone that's reading. My name is Catiria Falcon. I never thought that ill be posting this here but, I got no choice then to someone hear my Story. I just kept thinking to myself "how in the world got so bad" my parents live of my fathers retirement so I can see how they just never had the chance to fix the house. This is the home I grew up in it , I just don't understand how it got so bad!!! My mother is a Stay at home mother and was raise very poor, she just wanted the best for her children. But I guess is what im trying to say ….is that I don't know how to fix this problem without help, recently when my father was in the ER , my ma stayed with out water and gas to cook, the house has many problems, I know you guys hear so many hash story about people living , but if I had one wish,Granted is for me to get a truck and tear down that house!!.. 15. My name is Yadira Guerrero, the people living with me and my mom is my dad my little sister and my little brother and my 1 month old baby, and I am writing you this on behalf of my Father. He is 39 years old, he has had a heart condition called cardiomyopathy since he was 28 years old. He has had 3 strokes and 1 heart attack, and is now disable. He has lost feelings in his legs and can no longer walk. He has tried and tried for years to get on the list to get an open heart surgery. Everywhere he went they denied him because his liver is failing, because of his heart and liver he retains fluid in his stomache and now has a peritonael catheter in his stomache to drain the flluid out, and about a couple months ago we found out that his fluid is going into his lungs and its turning into jell and will no longer drain out, so its just getting bigger and bigger. The worst part is the doctors told us that he only has 6 months to live…and it broke all of our hearts knowing that he will soon go ..everyday he tells us he is ready to go..i just recenlty had my baby and it kills me knowing he wont be here long to see his granddaughter grow up , my babys dad left when he found out i was pregnant and my dad is the only man and father figure my daughter has and it breaks me knowing we are loosing him slowly , and i wish there was something we could do to help him but we just have to be strong and pray to the lord that he lives longer,., its been his dream to own an RV and just travel around the world and just enjoy new things and live his life to the fullest…but we have no money to buy him an RV ..we barley have money to pay our bills in the house we got now..we hardley have enough money to get him his medication he needs..he does get disablitlity checks..but most of that goes to his other kids for child support..its just hard for us to make ends meet…all we want is to make his dream come true …if you could help me and my family out ..it would make my dad the happiest man ever….please and thank you..

  16. I know this is completely far fetched but I think of this show every time I am at my dad's house. My dad is a single father of 5, me being the youngest. He has lived in his trailer for 25 almost 26 years and things has gotten out of control. My dad has operated his own construction company for 30 years or more and is the most hardworking man I know. Seriously, he doesn't know what a vacation is. He has always been the type to make sure all of us kids had college taken care of or needs taken care of before tending to himself. That seems all fine at first but now that we are all grown up…he is finding himself home more and not working as much! Seems great right? Well, not so much. All those years of putting us first and the house last when it had issues has caught up and it's terrible. Holes in the floors, mold all over the ceiling, and the ceiling is cracked in numerous places in the trailer. I have seen a fair share of rats and rodents that do not belong in a house! The ceiling in his bathroom above the sink had a raccoon fall through it before, alone with the closet ceiling collapsing in as well and all remains unfixed. I could seriously write a book but it's not sanitary at all for anyone to be living in it. Along with electrical problem, plumbing issues and more, it's not even livable to me. Please help him! All 5 of us want him out of this house or at least to get it fixed but neither seems in the cards!

  17. I want to give heartfelt thanks for the opportunity to nominate my friends for a home makeover. I am friends with Cindy for 9 years. Her son was tragically injured in an accident on a motorcycle. He was in a coma for 7 weeks. Eric's prognosis was grim. The day of the accident was May 29, 2014. He suffers from a brain sheer injury, affecting the left side of his body. He is 42. His common law wife has been by his side and trying to take care of their home and three dogs. He has been in ICU, nursing home and then assisted living. He has good family support from his parents, coworkers and boss and from customers from the motorcycle shop where he was working. From time to time Eric would tour the country with his friends on motorcycles.

His home is a Victorian home in the historical district. It is in need of TLC. It needs some yardwork and new coat of paint. The inside has just been rewired. It is need of central heating and air. This couple is a lovely couple so deserving for their love and hard work. He has a trust that was set up but he will need future help. Will you help make their dreams come true? God Bless you.

p.s Eric has progressed immensely. He can walk with use of a cane, but also relies on his wheelchair to help him along. He is in need of a ramp.
He will going home from assisted living Easter weekend. Definitely this is a time to celebrate his homecoming! It is almost one year from the time of his fatal accident.

  18. my name is Justin I am married with 3 kids 2 boys 1 girl we had our last child on December 27 2014 our daughter 7 days later my wife had several major heart attacks and was in the hospital for almost 3 months and now has an artificial heart and needs a heart transplant I'm not good at this but we need help

  19. I would like to nominate the Porterville Kiwanis Hut to get a new make-over. The hut itself is owned by the club but the land it sits on belongs to city. The hut has been site for various boy scout troops, and now girls scouts and brownie troops, haunted houses, and many youth activities. We also sponsor high school key clubs. The club is need of desperate repair. We need a new roof, new sewer system due to trees growing into the lines. The bathroom has mold, and we have had no hot water for about 5 years. We would also like to have a playground built next to hut. We try to do a lot of fundraisers but the hut is like a black hole to where we are able to scrape by month to month. Monies that are normally used to scholarships for our local kids. Our aim is to sponsor and help high school clubs learn about leadership and community service. We don't have a lot of young people in our club so we are limited on what we can do sometimes. Please help our hut!!! facebook.com/kiwanisofporterville

  20. Hi my name is Ashley. I want to nominate my grandmother for this make over. She has had 13 strokes over the last 15 years. Im the fiancee of her grandson. We live here along with our two daughters (3&3week old newborn). Were here and taking care of her and its very hard. She can only use her left side of her body. She falls alot and luckily we've been here to pick her up. But my fear is one day we may not be here when she falls and the worst could happen. We try to do our best but financially its impossible to take care our children, keep house insurance on the house. She has a reverse mortgage but its not being paid because it's just impossible. I work as a security officer and my fiancee does aquariums for a living. Its a 3 bedroom home with a den and its falling apart. We need this house to be sprayed bad. Again i have my two little girls here and i want the best environment for them. I cant sleep peacefully because im up wondering if everyone is ok. My fiancee gets no sleep either. We just want to be comfortable and happy. We are asking for your help. We need a blessing please help up. Thank you and God Bless you with so much more success.

  21. I need help dont know where else to turn to ….my parents gave us life, me and my sister and brother now im trying to give them a home , a real one … they deserve it… please help Im beggin u please…….thanks

  22. I am nominating my aunt Yolanda who lives in TX with my 3 younger cousins. Yolanda is a single mother trying to provide for her daughters but struggles on a daily basis. Yolanda has been diagnosed with arthritis and osteoporosis iterating on her back which do not permit her to hold a job. She has applied for disability but has been unsuccessful. She does receive TANF from the state. This allows her to pay her bills and buy little things to provide for her children but is still not enough money to repair her home which is falling apart and is not fully completed. She is firm on her daughters education so they can be successful women when they grow up. While juggling life as a single mother she cares for her parents (my grandparents) which also have medical conditions. She takes them to Dr. Appointments, runs errands, cooks, cleans and bathes my grandmother on her own will. My aunt Yolanda has moved with my grandparents only to let her brother (my uncle) and his family to live in her home while he remodels and repairs his home. When he is done she will be moving back into her home along with her kids. My aunt Yolanda is such an inspiration to me because instead of giving up or feeling sorry for herself she has never by past the opportunity to help someone else in need. My aunt Yolanda deserves a 2nd chance in life. I am asking that you consider my aunt along with her 3 children an opportunity to be blessed with a home makeover.

My name is Jen I'm 33yrs old living back home with my parents not proud of that, but stuff happens that's out of our control sometimes so my parents own a three family home in the city the house was built in 1940 same yr my father was born so it 75yrs old not in good shape at all its very small for our family the first floor has three bedrooms second floor has two bedrooms sad the basement apt. Has two bedrooms also he fire escape is deteriorating the bathrooms are very small basement floods when there's a storm roof leaks my parents income goes right to the morage so its hard to fix the problems in the house my father has alot of medical problems he has heart disease, diabetes, sleep apnea, high blood pressure &high cholesterol. 27. Hello, My name is Bre. I am actually applying on behalf of my mother. My mother has 10 children and is on the road to becoming homeless. The home they are in now is poorly insulated, every other month there's a leak somewhere. The leaks has gotten so bad that there is a giant whole in the ceiling. The furnace has oxygen escaping from it but it's the only way to attempt to warm the home. She has 5 children still living in her home and she also is taking care of 5 grandchildren and my grandmother. My grandmother has a heart condition that has to be monitored so my mother is taking care of her as well. They live in a 3 bedroom home and more than half of the family sleep on floors because they do not have beds. I am a 22 year old fill time college student with a 3 year old that also works full time to help support my family because my mother doesn't have a job. My father committed suicide so it's very tough on my mother and siblings. My mother has been helping everyone all her life and that's why I feel that I have to help her. It's getting very tiring working full time, going to school full time and trying to support my family. I feel bad for applying because as I read these other stories, there are so many families out there that really need help as well and I feel like I should just work even harder to provide for them and let these other families get their dream home because I can do it. I would love for my mother to get her dream home and for me to be able to just focus on graduating college but it is very heartbreaking reading these other stories. I just wish the best for those families and I hope all goes well for them!

  28. Hello my name is Cindy and I am a mother of 2 autistic children my daughter is 16 and my son is 8. My Husband Is an aircraftbmechanic several years ago he had fallen out of airplane and shattered his ankle he still works but now his ankle is getting worse and may have to have surgery and when that happens we will struggle and our house is falling apart and with my son who is 8 years old and autistic it is such a struggle cause he has not much room to play I want so much for my husband to have a nice home and my son to have a place he will be happy….please help my family ….I am not able to work cause I have extreme anxiety and I am on disability……it is so hard on me to see my family so stressed out I don't know what to do….thank you for your time

  29. Ithe 7 & 8m 44 with Spina Bifida and several other things going wrong with me. I'm not saying I deserve anything, but my children who are Autistic deserve better than what I'm giving them. My oldest son (14) and my best friend/caregiver takes care of us all. They deal with a lot. My 7yo not only has Autism he also has 5 different Chromosome disorders. He doesn't talk very much at all. My 8yo has Asperger Syndrome, Chromosome Disorder, O.D.D, Huntingtons Protein,ADHD, and all this makes for an interesting day. 🙂 The house we have wad part built in the 1940s and later more built on in 2002 but not finished because of my health I had used all my disability money to buy the place and add on to it. My friend (Nina)works to support us but doesn't make a lot I mean not enough to finish the house. Although the boys and I do get a check it isn't a lot. ….I was told I needed to let you know that it's complicated with our children. They are not or biological children. We started taking children in years ago, and some only stayed until their parents could get a good job and then they went back to their real mom & dad. Some stayed for years until their parents got out of jail. We never ask for money from these parents. The ones who weren't able to raise their children we kept. (Which is God's way of saying "Malinda you can't stop now").the 7 & 8 yo are actually Nina's grandsons. My 14yo had been in my care since he was 9mo old. I believe we have raised around 13 kids. We let My some families live with us that needed a home because they were being put out,and God put us there to help. Nina to(not just the boys deserves a good home)she's a great person. She is a pre-K Sunday School teacher at our church, she helps anyone with anything, she takes care of us like I said, and had to deal with her on health problems (diabetes, thyroid, colesterol, sleep apnea)… we live in a house that is half eaten with termites. Please if you could just give me a change to show more detail some how. This comment may not even make sense I don't know, but my older kids, my Pastors wife, my Aunt all said to write to you, so I am doing the best I know in hopes someone really reads these comments. Thanks for all you do. God Bless you all!

  32. first I want to start by saying that my grandmother is a wonderful woman in this is who I hope that I can get the extreme makeover for. She is a very hard worker and she is 68 years old. She started out working at Winn Dixie for 25 years and had a heart to open a daycare like her mother, and retired from Winn Dixie she had twenty five thousand dollars saved and she spent that money and putting it into a facility so she can have her dream. She is a wonderful woman and she really loves children children love her I can remember when my mother left me she took me in and treated me like her own she raise me up and love me and I guess that's where she got her heart from wanted to be with children or maybe from her mother. She has a small daycare it's a size of the house and she has many kids it's not the biggest facility and they don't have the fanciest stuff but its like home but there's so many repairs that she needs. The AC doesn't work very well it freezes up the floors you know some of them are a little crack and stuff and there's just some things that I wish that I had the money to give to her to repair.I wish there was some way that she can have her house inside the facility to where she can live comfortably and not have to get up and drive to the place every morning at 6:30 times are so dangerous and I just want the safety for her and for the children She's 68 and it's hard for her to do everything on her own so I just thought that I would put it on here and hope that maybe I could get some prayers and answers and maybe they can help her out she is devoted her life to me and so many of my siblings and her own children and many other of the children that come to the daycare for over 25 years also I just pray that maybe something can be done to help her out I think you for hearing me

  33. I found light in some of the darkest times of my life through my "baby" cousins. The oldest Danny was born with A severe handicap that prevents him from talking, walking, and all other everyday activities. He pretty much showed me that you can smile when there's almost no reason too. His mother and father take care of him at home with his two sisters and brother. His mom superwoman I swear. I feel that she's earned an extreme home makeover.

  34. This is for two of the most awesome people I know. The mother is a single mother she works her tail off at a clothes cleaner. Constantly making sure no one goes without but herself. She supports her daughter who has supported our troops 100% since the day I meet them. Her daughter has received numerous medals from service members thanking her..

  35. Hi I'm alexus Jones an my family helps homeless. Get back on their feet. We had 13 people under a house feeding them an taking care of them an we half redid the house the walls. 36. 2 nights ago my 84 year old grandmother lost her home to a fire. she my 2 sisters 2 nieces(6 and 7) and nephew(18 months) now are displaced and left with nothing. the garage exploded the flames reached her car and the car exploded as well. everything in the home is lost between the fire, heat, smoke, and water damage.this is a home my mother grew up in. a home my grandma raised me and my 3 sisters in,on her own. she is a very strong woman. when i saw the sorrow in her eyes that night as she stared at the home her late husband put so much work into being destroyed i knew i had to try to help her. so i am asking, begging if she doesnt get chosen for the show please try to help her in some way.thank you gofundme.com/helpgrandmadoris

  37. I am writing this letter in regards of my sister, Nancie. Within the past 5 years, I've seen her get remarried and be the happiest I've ever seen her and then also be the sickest I've ever seen her. Her dreams all came true , she had a thriving salon that she only dreamt about since we were kids, but she found the man we all thought could never exist. She was married 2 years and she had a stroke, then open heart surgery a few months later major back surgery from falling and from previous injury, then again 6 months later double hernia surgery. She has been put thru hell and back. Therapy, learning how to keep her balance, learning how to build up strength in her right side. And now autonomic dysfunction disorders and autoimmune diseases. Where I am going with this is, her husband is a farmer…or if you are a farmer you can also be called a gambler because what you do is totally a risk on mother nature herself. And along with bad health, come bad drought. They have 3 years of bad crops and that just keeps adding up on a loan and how do you ever catch up? you don't unless you win the lottery. So the house really never can get the things needed to help her function..bigger bathroom for the days she needs a wheelchair..they live in a small home (1500sq ft)with 5 children. 2 bedrooms upstairs and 3 makeshift downstairs with no extra exits….because they cant afford them. There is so much that is needed but none that can be done, because the goal is to keep the farm going. I know there are plenty others that are so much more in need, and would wish to see them taken care of, but when my sister had to close her business, it was like no one cared…no one called upon her to see how she was, except one and she now is her caretaker or as Nancie calls her "babysitter". I wish everyone who needs help, get help, if only there communities could come together and see how needs help….take there blinders off and say hi to their neighbor. To all of you God Bless and wish you all the best!

  38. I am writing for my brother and sister in law they are in a home that has had major problems. They have had a new roof put on only to have it leak through in about a yr. their ceilings are now a mess, they have also found mold where they plumbing has been leaking. Their insurance cant help with the roof because it was just fixed. My niece is almost 15 and was crying because she is worried about her parents not knowing how they will fix their home. My brother works hard at his job but keeps getting laid off. they really need this help.

  39. Hello Extreme Makeover. I am writing about my an awesome women who I call and a lot of others call her momma and my husband and I. My husband was medically discharged from the Army, and I had surgery on both of my legs and they did not heal right. The last two years have really been hard on my momma. She lost her son who I called my brother and her husband just months apart. Her son who was medically discharged from the army and was killed when he was hit by car. She lost her husband who I considered a dad to cancer. She is a breast cancer survivor. She had to have a double breast mastectomy and she has more surgeries coming up. When my husband was medically discharged from the Army because he suffers from PTSD and back issues we moved back home to help her. We are living in a small one bedroom house we are not sure how old the house is and it is on stilts and falling apart. This house needs a lot of work. My husband and I have property to build a house on but we are more focused on helping momma. Any time anyone needs helps she is always there for anyone no matter who it is even if she does not get a long with that person she will help them out. Sense daddy died and her dealing with her cancer issue my husband dealing with back issues and PTSD and my legs problem no one here is physically able to make the repairs that are needed to this house. I know there are a lot of people who could use the help of Extreme Home Makeover but we could really use your help not make only making my momma's dream come true to have a house that is safe she can live in and not have to worry it and can focus on her getting better, but it would also make my husband and I dream come true so we can save up to be able to get our own place so we can deal with his PTSD and back issues. You have no idea how happy it would make so many people to see momma have a new house. She has given a lot and has never ask for anything in return. Given her a new house would be an awesome way to give back to her. Thank you for your time.

  40. My grandparents passed and I will be moving into there house. It needs a make over. Please I need help…

  41. This is not about me, but my younger sister, my sister is a mother of 9, her older children are out of the house now, but she has a set of twin boys who are 14 and a set of twin girls who are 5 one of he girls has down syndrome, and a 17 year old daughter, my sister was diagnosed with RA and has to take shots and multiple other medication to control her pain. But I have never seen someone with so much drive to just live life, no matter how difficult, she is always trying to do better for herself and her children.
My sister income consist of her SS check and the SS check of my niece with Downs. She is currently living in the house that my grandfather has given her which is extremely old, and although my sister try very hard to fix it up, there is no way that it is possible, it needs to be torn down.
There is only three bedrooms for her the two sets of twins and my other niece who is 17. I wish I could help my sister because she deserves so much more than she has, and even though she has very little she is always wiling to help someone else. I would love to be able to be apart a something that gives back to my amazing sister.

We are currently living in public housing in opelika Alabama. My mother never had time to enjoy life and too not really have to worry about burdens that we face in life. I know my mom wants the best for me. Their been times we were almost homeles. But because of the grace of god we made it. I wish my mom didn't have to worry finance wise. 47. I am a single mother who bought a house about 2 years ago. Right after the I bought the house the boys father was murdered. Ever since then everything been a struggle having 2 boys with behavioral issues. The house ended up being full of black mold, water leaks, everything falling apart and this was supposed to be our final family home finally. I have been trying to fix the house to get up to code and make it safe for my kids. Just hard financial issues where only little things can get fixed. Can't get rid of the black mold but can't afford to move or replace the walls and bathrooms. It hurts that my kids was so excited to finally to have a home but losing their father and everything fall apart they want to move and not happy anymore. My kids are the most important thing in my life. I work full time but can't keep up with the economy and full time student to get ahead in life for my kids. Please consider and help us to improve this house and make my kids happy again. I miss the smiles. They know I do what I can but feel bad we stuck with a house with hidden electrical issues to. Then a neighbor stated my house was on fire before and never replaced or clean the smoke burn. My daughter has asthma and making it worse. Please I will appreciate anything that you can do for my family. It's hard to put my business out there and there is so much more but I try to keep my head up and keep going for them.

  51. I'm writing to you about my friend Denise. After her daughter passed away a couple years ago Denise's health went down hill. She has had open heart surgery and her health still isn't 100%. Her fiancé isn't doing well either. They are both constantly in and out of the hospital. They need help with their house. The roof is caving in and they have weeds growing inside the house coming in through cracks around the window. She has been told she can't have her grandkids there to stay with her cause the house is unsafe. I could keep going but there are other applicants you must get too so I will leave it on your hands. Please consider them.

  52. Hi I am applying for the extreme make over for my retired father of 82. He has worked very hard all of his life raised 5 children and always took on there friends in need as well. He has very lil money and a house that is falling apart literally. Actually we live in the north America and it doesn't even have working heat!! He uses the oven and little plug in heaters to keep warm in the winter months. He has 3 dogs and 4 cats he calls his children. Although it does cause a problem with no fenced yard. He is a proud man with a lot of junk that needs to be trashed but I can see him holding onto it for it is all he has left. Can you help?

  53. Hello ABC,

I am writing as a volunteer of the Missouri Institute of Natural Science. We are a small not for profit organization that brings natural science to our community. We are completely donation based and ran completely on volunteer staff. We have recently acquired a large donation to us that has given us hope to put an expansion on to our small metal building (that looks like a tractor shed) we call a museum. However as the donation is large several architects we have interviewed have scoffed at the budget we have available to us. This has come as a big moral buster to our staff. I am going to fill out your application in hopes you can help our small little box of wonder thrive!

    Thank you!

  55. Hello my name is chatai and i live in a household of 3.I am going to be 21 in April next month and my boyfriend is going be 21 in June.I know we are young and not married yet but we have a handsome 9 month old son and expecting our second child in November.we live in a rural area that's called monument valley. We live in a home that is 40 years old and is falling apart. Our home is medium small. It has one restroom, two bedrooms and a living room that's with a kitchen and a small laundry room. Our home is not that big of a space for my son to walk around in with his walker. So we really need this home makeover. Please make our wish come true. Thank you for ready hope to see you soon

  56. Hello My name is Tiffany. I live with my fiance and three kids in my Mother's home. We moved in with my Mother a couple years ago when my Dad was very sicK. He passed away in August of 2013. It was so hard on our family but mainly my Mother. He was the main supporter of the family. Shortly after he passed the air conditioner in my Mom's home stopped working. When that happened we learned that when the house burnt down many years ago the house wasn't wired correctly. It was an expense that we couldn't afford so we had someone temopraily put a bigger breaker in to help out. In March of 2014 my Mom fell and broke her knee. It was another financial hit to her since she works tax season. It was a very long hard recovery for her. While she was suffering from that her only parent, her mother, passed away in May of that year just days before Mother's Day. I have watched my Mom and all of this has made her so close to giving up but she lives for these grandkids. Without them she would be lost. As if things weren't hard enough in Feb of this year my Mom had a heart attack. We then found out she needs a triple bypass surgery. She agreed to have it done but only if she could wait until after tax season so she could work since she relies on the money to make it. So we scheduled it for April 20, 2015. I help as much as I can finacially but it is not much. I wish I could do more. She watches your show and HGTV all the time and says how she wishes she could do everything her house needs. I would do anything I could to make that happen for her. She has been through so much and helps anyone in any way she can. She is the most selfless person I know. Her house is falling apart. The ceilings need redone, the wiring isn't safe she is so worried about the house catching fired with the kids here, the furnace isn't going to last much longer, the basement where my fiance and i and our 1 year old sleep gets water in it. We have had to scrub the floors to get rid of mold, it isnt well insulated. I just wish I could redo her house for her make it more handicap friendly and easier for her. Since her knee she can't walk far without it hurting or walk even short distances without not being able to breathe. She can't even do laundry because the laundry is in the basement and the stairs are just too much for her. My Mother really needs this. It would mean so much to her and take so much stress off of her. She would never ask for help from anyone even when she knows she needs it. She has done so much for me and my kids and I would love to have this done for her.
    -Tiffany-

  58. Hey, I'm Whitney Miller a new high school graduate. I wanna pursue college but I don't wanna leave hard work on my 56 year old mother. My mother has been the car giver for my 33 year old brother for 7 years. She became his care giver when he had a life changing motorcycle wreck in 2008. It is very hard for my mother to do a lot on her own due to the space in our home. My brother has a wheelchair that she has to transport him in and out of everyday but the rooms are small and the hall way is very small. My ma has knocked so much paint off the walls because the wheel chair hits it everyday. The room my brother is in has his dresser and a bed for patients in it, and one sofa for his nurse to sit on when she comes and visit. My mother had to stop working when my brother wrecked. It then became financially hard on my parents, bills got behind things changed dramatically for my family. My home is in great need of a "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" I don't care if my room isn't made over I just really would likemy brother to be comfortable and feel normal can access things easier and for my mother to have the kitchen she needs to prepare my brother food and store his medicines and hall way space so she won't hurt herself or my brother while transporting him in and out his chair. It's been a long journey for my mom she never expected to be doing what she is doing now but she is thankful and doesn't complain but I know it hurts her I see the pain in her eyes. I know if I could I would fix everything for her but I cant. I just wanna go to college and not worry about them back at home. But it would be impossible knowing the conditions they are in. I know that things will get better I just hope its soon. Thank you for reading my story, Whitney Miller

  61. My Father which is Retired from the United States Air Force is in desperate need of home repairs and we have reached out to Veteran affairs and other agencies for help to only be told funds were unavailable at this time ….He needs a new roof on his home plus two trees removed from his back yard, the tress are so big that if the weather gets severe enough and they fall on his home he will lose his home and most likely his life for they are over 600 ft tall and he at this point has no home insurance !
He currently lives on a fixed income and can not afford to have the repairs done due to living expenses. To be totally honest I am his 43 yr old daughter and because of poor choices in my life he spent all his retirement paying for either my legal issues or hospital bills and on top of that raising 2 of my 3 boys …I want so bad to give back to a wonderful man who adopted me and my 2 brothers but we are all not financially able …I am praying that everyone will share this and i can get my father a new roof and the tree's removed ! i myself receive disability for different mental disorders but hope to soon get him some home insurance but that still want stop the rain from leaking in his home or the possibility of these trees taking his life……. He also has a gas furnace that was in the house since built in the 1950's the house is falling apart and i do have pictures if need ….Ty all for your time and any contributions…God Bless All

  62. I am writing because one week ago my son Alex was hit while riding his skateboard by a drunk driver in a hit and run. He was left in the road, unconscious and paralyzed from the chest down. He is an athletic and handsome 16 year old boy who was on his way home from volleyball tryouts. The doctors tell us he will never walk again and is completely paralyzed from the chest down. He has a c4 complete spinal cord injury as well as several other broken bones. As we come out of the daze and are talking about rehabilitation we realize he needs the best care possible so we will be uprooting our family a thousand miles from home and living in a hotel to get this treatment for the next several months of our lives. Although Alex was horribly injured and left a quadrapalegic, his brain was left unharmed so his will, his humor and his attitude is fully entact. He is ready for this fight and wants to prove doctors wrong. As the transition from intensive care to rehabilitating approaches I can't help but fear that the home we are bringing home too will not be accessible for him. We are young parents and this was our first home that we love so much and thought we could raise our family in forever. Alex also has a little brother who has struggled through the separation of having mom and dad at the hospital for 9 straight days now and the worry of his most loving big brother who will never be the same. In talks of home repairs he breaks my heart as he cries that he doesn't want to lose his playroom. I am begging please, we have so much support behind us from the community with benefits being planned and fundraising being done but I know that we will never be able to make a fully accessible house for our son to have some independence again with the millions of dollars of medical expenses we will endure fornthe rest of his life. He has been an inspiration to us in this whole process and an inspiration to the community and I would love to be able to welcome him home to an easier life then he had expected following this tragedy. You may read his story on masslive.com or follow his journey on Facebook on the page teamalex. Thank you for considering our family.

  64. Hi,
My name is Kathy and I am telling you of a story from my home town, Beaver Dam Wisconsin, I work at the High School in Beaver Dam and have come to know the family's of this town. One that stands out, about a month ago Abbe age 19 was in a very bad car crash when a truck in front of her had a chunk of ice fall from the top in front of her and she lost control and hit another car. Abby broke her back and arm, she is now paralyzed from the chest down. Her parent had to move her back home from school to take care of her, they have a very small home and a few dogs, they have very little money, the mother can not work and the dad has been off, but is going back soon. Abbe has a scooter that another family is letting them use, they have a small room with a hospital bed set up for them, she can not use the bathroom so they have to find people who will let them use a vehicle to transport her to therapy and to other homes to take a shower. They have built a ramp for her to get in and out of the house but our city will not let them keep it the way they have it set up, they give them 2 months to get things right. They have no money to move and no money to fix things up. Abbe has a 3% chance of walking again someday. This is a great family who has a lot of faith. I pray for them daily even to get some help with moving walls or something for Abby to feel at home. If you need pictures or a video I will be happy to do my best in getting the requirements. The family has been on an emotion roller coaster. I pray for a miracle.
    Thank You
    Kathy

  67. My sister has dreams of being independent. she wants to be able to come downstairs in the family room and spend quality time with her family. she wants to be able to one day walk and be able to take care of herself because she cant do to her disease. she has a rare muscle disease called Arthrogryposis. She is unable to walk, feed herself, take care of her personal hygiene, and many other things. We are in great need for a handicap accessible home. With my mother having her own health issues such as heart issues, type two diabetes and weakness in her arm it is becoming more difficult for her to care for my little sister. So please if you can help with achieving my sisters dream of wanting her own independence because I can't stand to see her cry and fight anymore.

  68. Well I have a litter sister with a very rare muscle disease called Arthrogryposis. With her having this disease she is unable to fully care for herself. She is confined to her power chair/wheelchair, and her room because our house is to small for her to maneuver around. With that being said it is now becoming more difficult for us to take care of her do to the lack of not having a handicap accessible home. With my mother and her battle of type two diabetes, a heart issue, and weakness in her arm she is now becoming unable to care for her as the years go on. With me going off to college this will make their way of life more difficult.my little sister is really wanting to be independent and it breaks my heart knowing that she can't be due to the little accessibility that we have. When she wants to learn how to walk in her trainer she gets upset and starts to cry because it's so difficult to learn in such a small house. All I want is a better way of living for my little sister and to know that when I go off to college she will be just fine in a handicap accessible home cause I know she will be able to finally be independent.

  71. I want to apply for my friends family. Because of the government and obama care they have almost run out of money. They have rented for a long time and the land lord has been trying anything he can to get them out of the house even if it means on the streets. Their house hold includes their mom, dad two girls and a 2 month old baby. They lost their car cause the mom lost her job. They currently live in a single wide trailer. Only one bathroom works and the youngest girls bedroom is a fire hazzard waiting to happen. Only 1/3 of the house has power and they have extention chords everywhere just to have fans and light in the house. They also live in a bad neighborhood and the mom has to keep her wheelchair under padlock and key to prevent it frm getting stollen. The livign room and kitchen is about the size of a studio appartment and it makes it tight for 5 people and a baby. Their only form of transprotation is their moms motor wheelchair which only works a third of the time nd the girls have to walk everyday to the store for food (they pay with ebt food stamps) and the youngest has to ride her old bike to get to school but it makes her late a lot. With limited mobility in the house their mom has no choice but to spend her time in a corner of the kitchen or her small bedroom for lack of furniture. They had to get rid of their couch and some kitchen chairs cause they were falling appart. Relying on their uncles s.s.i. paycheck for many years has held their heads ebove ground but a few months ago he passe away. Their church helps them wth their power bills but soon they wont have a place to live. They have done so much for me and many other people this is my chance to give back to them and help them with new palce to live and im hopig to raise enough money for a minivan. I will pay for the gas and it if i have to. Please this is my alst hope to keep them in warm beds and together as a family.

  75. My husband and myself have 3 beautiful children. 2 boys and 1 girl. Before our youngest child was born the doctors found that, in utero, her brain wasn't developed properly and were told to prepare for her to have some mental and physical disabilities. We didn't care, we knew we wanted her no matter what. She was our baby girl. We finally came to terms with what our life could be, and were ready to take on whatever happened. In February. Lily was born. Everything went well for the delivery, however within an hour after her birth, she stopped breathing, but thankfully the doctors and staff were able to get her back and stable. They took her to the NICU. I then stayed with her there for 11 days, which was hard because we had 2 boys to care for also. The genetic specialist came to us to let us know they thought she may have a genetic syndrome, but wanted to run tests to be certain. 2 days later they pulled my husband and myself into a room to tell us our baby girl had a genetic syndrome, called Trisomy 13. More than 90% of children with full trisomy 13 die in the first year. She had a terminal illness. We were sent home to basically, prepare for her to pass away in our home. She would stop breathing many times a day so we would pick her up or do anything to get her to take another breath. This continued for 3 months, but after the 3 months, she was breathing on her own with no more scares. She had other anomalies which is normal for trisomy 13. I knew I would always take on anything I needed to do for her, or any of my children. Her big brothers are so good and loving to her. Every time we would go to her specialist, the doctors would remind us of how she probably wouldn't make it to her 1yr, then 18 mos., then even 3year birthday. We were told she was doing amazing, but these children just don't make it. She just had her 6 year birthday and is doing great. All if her doctors and specialists are amazed how she is doing. However, she is not able to walk by herself, or do much movement without complete assistance. I had been working, but had to quit my job to be at home with her. We live in a split level home, which is the worst kind of home to have for someone who is basically wheelchair bound. I carry her up and down the stairs anytime we go into or out of the house. Also our square footage of the home is pretty small and she needs more room to be able to use her equipment. With me not working and Lily getting bigger, I don't know how we are going to be able to accommodate and modify our home for her. If you could help, we would be so grateful!
