Hi, i'm writing to ask for Y'alls help. I watch the show, everytime its on t.v. and everything you guys do for the less fortunate people, and the people who have lost everything is truely amazing, and it touches my heart. My family and I are from Birmingham, Alabama. We were blessed and fortunate enough that the April 27th storms, skipped over our house. Our family consist of Myself, Patience 16 years old, My aunt, Mandy 34 years old, My great grandfather, Talmedge 85 years old, and grandmother, Debbie 52 years old. I also have a baby on the way. We have a two bedroom house, my aunt, grandmother, and myself share a bedroom, and my baby is about to join us. The floors are falling in, and there is mold, the roof is sunk in, and the plumbing is terrible. My great grandfather has owned this house for 56 years and before he bought it it was a store and before that a bar. There is barely room for the four of us, and now im bringing a baby into the mix. My great grandfather has lung cancer and is battling it, and he wants to fix up his house for us, but he doesnt have the money. My aunt mandy, barely makes enough to feed us, and my grandmother, can't work due to medical problems. I was taken by dhr and placed here with them, and i've never had a nice home before. It would really mean so much to have our home remodeled and fixed. So please please help us. Thank you!
Hi! My name is Barbara, but everybody calls me Barbie! i am 12 years old.I love your show, and I truly think that my family needs this. My dad is currently in kidney failure. He has been since Spring of 2010. He hooks up to a machine every night and has to do Dialysis. My dad has gone through a lot in his life. When he was only 16 his mom was killed in a robbery. It was November 22, 2005 when A carbeurator blew up and my dad was caught on fire. It was a devastating Thanksgiving and Christmas. He spent 1 week in the hospital and came home to a long recovery. My family struggled through that time and made it because we had each other. Like I said earlier my dad and family has gone threw so much! On November 1, 2010 my 9 year old sister found out she had Juvenal Diabetes. She was in the hospital for one week. She has to take 4 shots per day. 1 shot for every meal and 1 24 hour shot at night. Every day my mom or dad has to go to her elementary school to give her insulin for lunch. My mom has to work 50 hours a week to get this family going. Our house is practicably falling apart. The windows are old and wind gets through. We have mold which can cause my dad to get a serious infection. He was a maintenance man working Firestone Building Products, and if he was able to he would still be working today. He would also try to fix the repairs we need in our house, but he can no longer do that. The floors are falling through. We only have 1 functional bathroom. My parents struggle everyday just to get by. We really need your help ABC. Please consider us for a Extreme Home Makeover! I would really appreciate it! Thanks for taking the time to read this.

I really do not know where to start as we are still struggling and coping with the news. My niece who lives in the UK has a three year old son who is suffering with cancer. Last year when our little Mckenzie was 2 he became extremely sick and due to hid mum Danielle being so courage and not giving up he was diagnosed with a brain tumor, he had the tumor removed in the UK but then came to the state where I reside and under took an extreme course of a new procon treatment in Jacksonville Florida. He returned him in June last year 2011 to the UK and was doing well until Christmas when he began to get very sick again. After many. Ore trips to the doctors and hospitals he had an appointment on Monday 1/16/2012 and on waking him up my niece discovered that he could not stand. She rushed him to the hospital and he was given an MRI through his excruciating pain and it was discovered that he has a tumor wrapped around the lower 8 vertebra of his spine. This little man has been through so much along with his parents who have been so considerably strong I am just blown away. Mckenzie will be sent home this weekend with pain management for the rest of his days, we have been told to look at weeks and possibly months but they will not promise longer than that. This is so overwhelming for all of us and with him not being able to use his legs anymore there is lots of obstacles for them to overcome when they arrive home.
I know this letter is coming with a major short time of a plee for help but I am sooooo needing for help for them, with me being so far away from them I am trying to help in anyways that I can.
I am clinging to that while there is hope for this little guy I want him to have the help to make his last few days as comfortable and to be as fun as possible so that he can have the best time of his life while he is with us.
We are so longing that we can celebrate his 4th birthday which is April 1st, this child in his first few years has been through so much and hospital is actually becoming a way of life for him.
I understand that with them being in the UK that a home makeover may not even be possible but this child has been through so much that maybe there is some way to even help provide some of the comforts that he will need, any help that you can give will improve his time with us so much as we are so at a lose as to where to start, what to do for him and who to even go to help for this little guy.
I soooooo anticipate any kind of help from you if even if it contact numbers we just desperately need help.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this email Michelle Lorentz the aunt of the most amazing little boy that anyone could meet.

My name is Vanessa, and i have turned to you in hope that you would chose my family to help. On December 18th 2010 i had a brain aneurysm rupture in my head, i was taken to Clark Co.Hosipitol, then to U. of KY Hosp. then flow to U. of Cinn. where they did brain surgery. I dont remember much of this time but i came to in Feb. 2011 and by the grace of God i also came home. The problem i have is that we own our own constrution company. At the time of my accident we were doing pretty good, but after taking a 3 month break, because my husband was sitting by my bed side everyday a long with 3 kids, it took its toll on our finaces. We had our dream house picked out and had worked out payment plans with the owner. We have fought hard to stay on top of our bills and keep the business going, but with everything that has happened to me i am unable to do what i did for the company before my accident. I have balance issues, problems mixing up words that i know but cant get to come out right, and i have memory loss. i just ask that you might consider my family to help. Thank you

Hello, My husband and I are both disabled. We have multiple medical issues which do not allow us to work a job or get around that easy, as my husband has only one leg. My home burnt in March of 2010 and the insurance denied our claim. We are now struggling to live without our home and would appreciate help from Extreme Makeover to have our home rebuilt for us to live. Please consider our need, we are in a position of losing our home coming this March 2012 if we do not get help soon. Thank you.
Hello, I am a 44 year old mother of two. I have been a nurse for 16 years, helping people of all ages and illnesses. Nursing is back breaking work to say the least, in October 2009 I sustained a sustained a serious back injury helping a 96 year old woman who I found in her home in critical condition and had no choice but to life saving care on my own before the ambulance arrived. I have since undergone a very brutal and extensive back surgery, which has so far made the problem work. I have not worked in over a year, I receive workmans compensation, which is a fraction of my usual income. The only exits from my house are down long deck steps which I have fallen up and down many times. My laundry room is outside around the front of the house in an outdoor room which I have to maneuver the steps to even do my laundry, my bathroom is falling in and my shower/tub is an old trailer tub that is very difficult to get in and out of. I cant even shave my legs without fear of falling. My kitchen requires a step down which has caused falls and the floors are falling in on part of the house (someone built a wood framed addition onto an old trailer) My daughter does not even have a wall for her bedroom and she is 15. The floor to my sons room is falling in on the shower side of the wall due to constant leaks. The wiring in this house is old and scares me. We have tried to fix things as they happen but since my accident things have just gotten worse. I feel like a prisoner in my own home. I have taken care of people my whole life, patients, family and now I cant even do my own laundry for fear of falling. I know there are many deserving families but I do feel I am one of them. We live in a very rural part of Louisiana on a lake and it is impossible to get any one to take on the job that this house desperately needs without spending our entire retirement and college funds. I would appreciate your consideration for my situation. Thank you, Amanda Reese
Hi, My name is Vicki. Let me start off by telling you alittle about myself. I work as a nurse and a volunteer firefighter in my local community. I really don't feel so deserving of a new home from Extreme Makeover because there are so many people out there that are in bad shape and need help too, probally more than I do. I'm not asking for myself but for my family. My daughter, granddaughter and husband. They all deserve something better than this. I bought my house as a foreclosure knowing it was going to need some repair.(it was my family home) and I was so excited that me and my husband was going to embark on this new adventure together. Well, all was well until I had an xray done at the hospital (for a kidney stone) only to get a call back saying I needed to get back to the hospital. I was taking for emergency surgery to find out that I had a carcinoid tumer of my appendix. It kinda went down hill from there. Since then I have had multiple surgerys. I don't think I have that many organs left anymore(appendix, gallbladder, right colon, uterus, ovarys, cervix) all gone!!! I sould be really skinny huh? Just joking. I still continue to work as both a nurse and firefighter and I will not quite until I absoutly can not do it anymore. To anyone who has ever had cancer, I don't care if you are completely cured or if you are standing on your last leg, everytime you hurt, feel bad, or get sick, in your head you know IT'S BACK. My life has been spent on trying to help my family, friends, community and a few strays along the way. I'm not a marter just a survivor. My home is in very bad shape, broken floor beams causing saggy floors. the cabinets have seperated from the walls because they are so bad, large holes in the roof and sides of the house, termites, the bathroom is about to fall through the floor, very little heat in the winter,(thank god for plastic.) There is way to much problems here to mention in this note. I would do the repair myself but I can only squeeze out so much money, and I have had to borrow from one to pay the other for so long now just to what I do have it has taking most of my paycheck just to keep going. If you see fit to help me and my family it would be greatly appreciated and if you choose to help others in need instead, that will make me happy too. God bless all of you that are willing to help others in need.
My family is not able to Volunteer or anything like that but I do help others when they ask cause I dont know how to say no.We are in need of a new home we got 3 kids we live in a 3 bedroon trailer its in my dads name we pay the bank it will be ours after its paid off.But we have had alot of problems the ceiling in 3 rooms has cracks and 2 of those rooms are in the kids rooms the bathroom wall has black mold on it the window frames has mold on it due to mistureI have cleaned it up but it comes right back I am worried about my kids health.I am disable to work due to my seizures and they cant get my dilatin up where it needs to be I have spent money after money on different kinds of medicines my husband works long hours and we just dont have no money to fix anything. Please help us.
We are from a small town about 30 miles north of Auburn Alabama called Valley. My sister and I are writing to you to explain our momma's situation. She is the most caring person in the world. She has been living in the house that we grew up in since August of 1992. My sister was only a few months old when we moved into the house and I was five. There are so many things wrong with her home. The house has extrememly bad mold, the roof leaks througout the house, the porch is falling in, it has asbestos siding on it and it is falling apart. There is no heat in the house. My son is four years old and has had RSV, a respiratory infection, since he was one month old. We cant bring him to my mother's house because I am afraid the mold and asbestos will affect his RSV. This breaks my momma's heart to pieces. She is a waitress at a resturant in our small town. She barely makes enough to support herself. She recently broke her wrist in three places and had to have surgery. She has been out of work for the last three months. She has no income right now but is supposed to go back to work within the next month. Our mom has always supported us in everyway possible. We didnt have the best childhood growing up financial but it meant nothing to us because she always showed us love was the most important thing. We just really want to help her out but we cant do it by ourselves. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE consider helping our momma. Thank you so much!!!!
I am writing not on behalf of myself or my own home, I am writing for orphans from Haiti. For the last 6 months I have taken children into my humble home on the border of Haiti and the Dominican Republic. As of right now, my fiance and I are taking care of 10 children. All of them sleep in one room. They range in age from 11 yrs to 1 year. All of them are severely malnourished and do not have family to care for them. It is tough to make bills and feed so many mouths, but we are doing it by the grace of God. There are more children like them that need out help and we will never turn any of them away. We desperately need an Extreme Home Makeover to be able to care for our children. Please help us!
Hi my name is Shannon and I live in Piedmont, SC. My reason for applying for the home makeover is because I am a 31 year old mom of thee children and I suffer from breast cancer, this is my second round of cancer in two years. We live in a 3 story house that is full of mold, leakes, countless electrical problems. Because of all of my health problems that I have all the mold is making me quite worse. I also know that our roof is leaking. All 3 of my children suffer from severe allergies but since living here they all have developed asthma. I worry about my kids health worse than my own. I know what I have wrong with me but I wonder being around all the unhealthy things in here what will happen to.them. we also do not have a furnance that works correctly so we use space heaters all over the house to keep it warm. I am begging for your help to help prolong my health and for the health of my small kids. I am unemployed due to my cancer and there is no way I am physically able to do this on my own.
Sincerely yours
Shannon p
Hello! I am writing this on behalf of 5 children who really need a new home so that we can all become a family. Let me explain. I am a single father of 2 amazing children. 3 years ago, their mother had an affair with a student at my children's school and ultimately ended up leaving our family and filing for divorce. It was devastating to my kids and myself. In addition to that loss, my ex father-in-law who i worked for, fired me right before Christmas 2009 just to be unkind and he blocked my unemployment so I had no income and no way to provide for my children. They did this to try to say I was unable to provide for my kids in order to try and take custody away from me. I love my kids and would do anything for them. I almost lost my home because of all the legal hoops they made me jump through and all the frivolous legal actions they took, but I fought for my kids and never gave up. I even had to hold a sign asking for help and work just so I could put food on the table and keep my home. The last 3 years have been very hard for my children and me and I have spent almost $25,000 trying to keep my custody of my children. Needless to say we have been through many challenges in the last 3 years, but I have made my children the #1 priority and have worked multiple jobs to keep my home and keep my kids. It has been a lonely and difficult road for the 3 of us.
I have always wanted my kids to have a happy home life and have wanted to meet a loving woman who would be a great mother to them. I recently met an amazing woman who has had a hard road as well. She is a widowed mother of 3 children. 2 years ago when her youngest, Charlotte was born, her whole world was turned upside down. Her husband had a lawncare business and was in their garage working on a big mower when the jack gave out and the mower fell on his head and killed him instantly. Erica had just hours before brought the new baby home from the hospital and was wondering where her husband was so she sent the middle child, Isabella, out to check on her dad. Isabella, who was 4 at the time, found her father dead underneath the mower. Needless to say this family has been through alot and the children have had to grow up without their dad. The baby has never had a father. In spite of all this, Erica has raised the children by herself and has one of the most positive outlooks on life you will ever hear.
Fast forward to current times and that is where my request stems from. God brought 2 families together who have both suffered extreme loss. Erica and I met and have truly fallen in love with everything about each other. We both love each others children and we know that we have a love that is better than a fairy tale. I have been a father to her children who have wanted a father for years and who really needed a man to love them as his own. My children have bonded with Erica's children and everything is just falling into place. Everything except the fact that we need a place to live. I want to ask Erica to marry me and i want to adopt her children, but I can't afford to buy a home big enough for all of us. My plea is that you will find it in your hearts to help 2 broken families be able to come together as one happy family and have a home to call their own. We need your help so thst this fairy tale can have a happy ending. Our five children have never been happier and they so want to be together as a family. I would give anything to make these amazing children's dream come true and to be able to marry Erica and have us all live together under one roof. Please help Charlotte, Isabella, Tyler, Bailey, and Gavin have a home. Thank you for your time and God bless you for all you have done to help families in need.
Sincerely,
Drew Perkins

Hi im a 16 year old girl, i am an only child. Im writing to you in hopes that you will help my single parent mother who is suffering from type 1 diabetes. She works two jobs to make sure i have what i need to survive. She is a CNA and went to school for medical assistant. She takes care of the elderly as well as our heroes of war. I see her caring for other peoples needs and not so much of her own. She also loves animals, if we could take in many stray animals she would do it. We currently have 2 stray cats in our home. My mother was a foster child who had many disappointments. Her mother past away of a overdose at the age of 36, when she was 17. Her father recently pasted away in a house fire in April 2011. We live in a small blue house in chicopee, mass , our ceilings are leaking water everytime it snows or rains. Our sink leaks right through the pipes, so we can barely use it. Our basement is less then 4 ft high and our support beams are being held up by metal poles. The wood is very old so we can not hang any pictures nor memories. The foundation is falling apart, the house isnt leveled. Because of that the tiles in the kitchen are all cracking. My room is just not big enough to fit what i do have. My mother doesnt really have any of my baby things besides one thing which is hanging in my room, we lost all my baby stuff when my cousin didnt pay for his storage unit he had that we stored some things in there. My grandparents who own the place know about all these things but dont pay any mind to it, so were suffering to try to help make our lives healthier. People say we should call the board of health but because family owns it i dont feel we can do that. My grandparents fostered my mom and her sister since they were two and five years old. They have also adopted two of my cousins and helped raise two others. My grandmother is on SSI and basicly survive on my grandfathers income. My grandfather works as a school bus driver. He actually drove a bus for one of your shows you did, i think in Conneticut. If you can help my mother and I that would be a life changing experience for us. Hope to hear from you soon, thank you for your time.
Hello,
My name is Brianna Atkins. I am going off of faith here an dfilling this out for my Granny. She is 73 years old and in need of help. She currently lives in Detroit, MI. with my two mentally challenged uncles David and Bobby. Throughout my grandmothers entire life, she has taken care of someone. From animals to people. My Granny has adopted of 13 children and leaves her home open to any and everyone in need. She has health issues that keep her in and out of the hospital facing surgery to surgery and her home is falling apart. Her home has been over taken by roaches, mice, cats, and clutter. She struggles to make it around her home and she is currently sleeping on a hospital bed in her living room because she is unable to make it to her room which is in the attic of her house. She gave the one bedroom to my uncle who cannot make it up and down stairs without assistance and my other uncle sleeps in the attic still. My granny has helped the community and so many families in any and every way possible and she is to the point where she is barely making it. From hospital bills and medical bills and still trying to take care of everyone in our family she is withering away and my family and I just really want her to get some help. We know that she does not have many years left here and we want something like Extreme Home Makeover to come and show her that all of her help and good deeds were not for nothing and they didnt go overlooked and unappreciated. I'm sorry this may be flustered but its so much to try and summarize. If possible someone can contact me and I will be able to explain her situation more clearly or have my aunt or a friend of the church do it because it is just too much to summarize. All I can say is an awesome and courageous woman who currently lives in Detroit, MI is in need of help and I am begging you to help her..PLEASE!

I'm begging on bended knees to please choose my Grandmother, Mrs Clara Houston for an Extreme Makeover. She and my late Grandfather have been Foster Parents for dozens and dozens of children, opeing up their home and hearts to children in need for over 30 years, adopting 1 of the children and with many failed attempts, trying to adopt a little girl she had in her care since she was 3 months old. Year after year, she and my Grandfather would try to adopt the little girl, but never succeeded, but they stayed prayerful. Now besides taking care of children, my Grandmother did mission work, taken care of and praying for the sick and shut-in, even taking in family with no where else to go or just in need. Later, my Grandfather was striken with cancer, but that didn't slow her down from taking care of him, the children and others in need. In October of 2000, after years of suffering with cancer, my Grandfather passed away. Shortly after, Grandmother became ill and had to have two knee surgeries. My Grandmother stayed strong and continued to be a Foster Parent throughout her recovery, and continued the fight to adopt the little girl she and my Grandfather cared for all these years until around 2008. With sorrow in her heart she left her beautiful home in Saint Petersburg, Fl for she could no longer care for children and decided to move to the home she grew up in as a child, her mother's home in High Springs, Fl. After a long fight, in 2008, she was granted the adoption of the little girl she raised from an infant, that young lady is now 17 years old. But instead of relaxing and enjoying retirement, my Grandmother is constantly trying to patch up her home. The floor dipps when you walk on it, the walls are falling apart. In the bathroom, the floor feels like it is going to give way anytime, the sink has pulled away from the wall and the cabinet underneath, you can just about see the ground. When you sit on the toilet, it sinks to the ground, so you just pray you dont fall through the floor. The tub is on it's last leg and not big enough for her support chair when trying to bath, so she mostly wash up in the sink or a bucket. My husband and I have done all we can do financially, and none of the family can help, yet Grandmother is still making room for others and cooking Sunday dinner for everyone in her deteriorating kitchen. My husband and I recently purchased a new- to- you stove and vent for her and noticed the floor in the kitchen is starting to dip now and the upper cabinets have pulled away from the walls and the lower cabinet under the sink has callasped,so she just sits her pots on the floor. Grandmother never complains, just keep helping others, cooking and praying…saying the Lord will provide, she aint worried. But we are….Please, please help Grandmother,we tried everything to get her home restored, but no success. Grandmother Clara has provided a home for so many Foster Children and others in need, and now she is need of an Extreme home make over…Please help!!!
Sincerely yours,
Erika Boone
We are the Brown/Simpson family and we need your help for a safe and healthy home. My name is Laura. I am 20 years old with a 2-year old daughter. I am recently engaged to my wonderful Fiance' and we just got our own house about 4 months ago. We love the idea of having our very own house, however it needs alot of work that we just cannot afford. the floors all need to be replaced because they are extremely bowed. there are alot of holes and cracks everywhere bringing in the cold weather and running our bills way too high for us to be able to pay. we have tried to do a few small things to the house to make it more home-like, but we just cant seem to get ahead enough to do much more. I watch Extreme Makeover Home Edition all the time and admire the work you all do. I would love for my daughter to have an amazing room that she would actually enjoy as well as be proud of as she gets older. It would be AMAZING and wonderful if you would makeover our house and make it a better, more energy-efficient home for our little family! Thank you for your time!:)
Raquel,
I was reading through these after applying for myself and my brother and our children. Your story is heartwarming and I truly hope that your family is chosen. Hood luck!

Dear ABC,
I am writing you because I am my brother's voice. Almost two years ago now, my perfectly healthy 34 year old brother, John, got sick. We didn't know what was wrong until it was too late and by that night he was in the ICU fighting for his life. He had contracted rare bacterial endocarditis, a heart infection, and he wouldn't survive the night without open heart surgery to remove the source of the infection and replace one of his heart valves. We, his family, made the choice for him when the doctor told us that he could have a stroke if we proceeded, but he'd likely die that night if we did nothing. We chose surgery, and he suffered a devastating stroke from which he will never recover. My brother is now almost completely paralyzed from the eyes down. He has the use of one eye and limited use of his left hand and leg. He cannot stand, sit up, or even hold up his head. His thinking mind has not been damaged at all but he cannot speak. I am his voice now. He is a single dad with two little girls, so after he spent 6 months in the hospital my two children and I moved in with them. I am here to take care of him and help him raise his girls, who would be lost without him. We make do, but our house is very small and over 120 years old. I could go through all of the repairs that the house needs, from the roof to the foundation, but suffice it to say that it is falling apart around us. We do our best to keep it standing. The worst part, though, is that because of the way houses were built back then it is completely unable to accommodate a person in a wheelchair. The hallways are too small, each doorway too narrow, and steps and stairs make it impossible to navigate. Our family and neighbors helped us to get the house ready so that we could care for him at home. Our only choice was to remove the wall between the one tiny bathroom and bedroom downstairs and make it one room. There is just enough room to get him from the bed to the toilet. He has a motorized wheelchair that was made just for him and it is his only source of independence. Unfortunately, though, he can't drive his wheelchair in his house at all and we can't even push him in a manual one into any room but one. We can only get him from his bedroom to the living room. His silly little girls do their best to put on little shows for him and make him smile…….They are just about the funniest kids I've ever seen and I am blessed to be able to be raising them. As long as he has his girls around him he's okay. He lived for them. I do my best to make him comfortable and help him find joy in this life. It isn't enough, though, and now that I have to be his voice in this life I have to fight his battles and find a way to make his life better. I fight the insurance company to get the medicine he needs, I fought to get his wheelchair, I fight for his rights and to make sure everyone knows that he is still in there; still completely aware of what is going on and still the same guy he was two years ago, just not able to talk or move much. We have always been good people, but to tell you the truth we are just regular people. John and I have done our best to help others, from being a foster parent to volunteering at a women's shelter. To tell you the truth, though, we are just regular people. My brother was just working, trying to raise his kids by himself and trying to get through each day. Then he got sick. Now our lives revolve around how to get him what he needs, how we will get out of the house to go to the kids' basketball games, how we will get the wheelchair through the crowd at the football field, who will sit with John while I go to the store, and how in the world we can make his life just a little bit better. Please help. I know a lot of people need and deserve your help, but I am my brother's voice now, and I have to ask. I have to beg, even, if that's what it takes. Please help us.
Successfully I am the CEO & Co founder of Streetline Percussion Entertainment. As of right now we have the only positive organization in Macon Georgia geared towards civilizing young people (14+) in the direction that’s beneficial to constructive lifestyles. I have been so focused on taking care of their needs that I have failed to take care of my own needs which also benefits the kids. My home is in dire need of repairs. It is large enough to conduct business meetings, cookouts as well as free play, but unfortunately I cannot comfortably accommodate all of my children (streetline) due to the needed repairs and the modernization.
I would like to begin with my screen porch by redesigning it into a sunroom with a ½ bath for year round activities. I also need a larger storage room added for instrument storage. My upstairs living room and bathrooms need remodeling because Streetline utilize these areas when we have our leadership meetings. Downstairs is where my children (streetline) like to hang out but the entire downstairs need some major improvements.
I really need my home to be repaired and modernized. I have a large back yard in which I would like a full basket ball court and a large deck. I Love my organization. I Love what I do for these children. My home is also their home and I much rather have them here where I know they would be safe & comfortable. I don’t need to spend money on renting buildings; I can save money and do so much more for these children within my own home. I need to make my home an enhanced relaxed environment for Streetline Head Quarters.
Streetline is a Georgia Non-Profit 501(c)(3) Corporation.
I would like to nominate the city of Tuscaloosa, ALabama. There was a devestating day of deadly storms in Alabama on April 27, 2011. The reason I am asking for Tuscaloosa is because a deadly tornado came through this huge college town and devestated most of the business and apartments (occupied by some of the University of Alabama students). This town is still torn in shreds and some houses still have tarps in place and no repairs being done. We live about 1 1/2 hours away but were in the community today and it is still heartbreaking. This college town once was an absolutely beautiful and amazing place to visit and enjoy when going to ball games. It is still enjoyable for the football games, however the rest of the town really needs to be repaired and homes repaired to be liveable again. Our State of Alabama would love a makeover like Joplin received to assist this community. Thanks for your consideration! God bless your show and your consideration for your help to this wonderful community!
Dear extream makeover,
I'm writting this letter on behalf of a friend that was involved in a terrible accident and is now living in an assisted living building where he gets help from HCAs (like a nursing facility). Ron is 38 years old and is a quad. (Paralyzed from the cheat down and very little motion and use of hands). His hands are clenched mostly shut which limits what he can do himself on a daily basis. He lives in a small apartment that isn't made for his power wheel chair. His accident effected his eye sight and he is now very sensitive to bright lights. This leaves his room very dark and hard to see when helping him around the house. He's always had a dream to have a house or a place to himself where he can get around and be more independent with his daily needs. He trys his best to do his dishes and help clean his apartment but the use of his hands limits what he can actually get done. Thank you for your time and concidering changing his life!

Hello Extreme Make Over,
I am writing on behave of my grandparents. Yesterday their home of 50 years and everything they own just burned down. We are grateful for their survival. They are both in their late 70's and my grandpa is a disable vet paralysis for the waist down. They live off of a very small budget (SS). They had a very small insurance policy that we found out is based on depreciation. They will not be able to replace their home. I guess you could say I am looking for a miracle…they just need a place to lay heads. I want my grandma to stop crying and maybe even smile. She deserves this…she has had a hard life. Please Help!
My Grandma is an amazing women who desrves to have a better home. She always allowed my mom and us four kids and her son to stay with her & my grandpa in a 3 bedroom home trailor. My grandpa passed a few yrs ago and now we all have moved out except my uncle. But in 2008 west terre haute experieced the worst flood in years i remember my grandma had to rescued by the firemen in a boat because water was so high it had gotten into her home. She loves the house that she is lving in for the memories but its falling apart sience the flood she cant pay to have it fixed because she doesnt make enough money she had to shut down one room complety because of the mess the good caused and when you walk in you can see the damages around the floors from the flood. I know sending this is a long shot and i know a lot of people need help but i know that if my grandma and uncle keep living there something may cause problems with their health more then she is already experiecing now. PLEASE HELP MY GRANDMA AND GIVE HER WHAT SHE DESEVES
Hi "Extreme Home Maker Over”, I’m submitting this application because I have no where else to turn. My aunt is in despite need of help with her home, Its falling apart I see her stressed out and crying about this situation almost every day and it hurts my heart to see her this way she has even begun taking anti-depressants’. She's a single mom with two teenage boys; we live in the small town of flint in Michigan where the chances of finding a job are slim to none. Its winter time and the roof has started to cave in. There are leaks in almost every part of the house, And the pipes must be busted because whenever water from the sink goes down the drain it leaks onto the basement floor which is causing a bad smell, also there are two or more windows that need to be replaced because the mixtures of hard cold winds, rain and ice that has cracked them over time, it never stays warm in the house. The carpet has many rips and spills from the previous owners a few years ago, and the paint is chipping in every room of the house. If you can, Please help my aunt Extreme Home Makeover" thank you very much.
Hi my name is Kelly im 13 and feel my family should recieve a new home. My mother is 42 and is raising my 6 year old sister and I along with my father. She cannot work because she has had over 8 mouth surgeries in the last year, and 3 more to go, one involving her hip.But yet, this doesnt stop my mother from helping others. She volunteers for school activites, makes lollipops for a dance studio, watches a 3 month old baby, and trys to provide for this home with no pay hoping that someone will help us. This house is falling apart. Unfourtanetly, 1 year ago we had a house fire. My mother was making breakfeast and the oil splattered onto the the microwave and the fire started. Still my house isnt even near complete.Since my mother gets no pay i do along with volunteering. I babysit children and any money I make goes toward the house along with running marithons for cures for cancer and I raise money for St.Judes hospital. Last year I raised 563 dollars the money was well appreaciated. My father and I have severe athsma. In this house the heat doesnt always work in the winter and in the summer the air doesnt always work. My father works at a shipping company but doesnt make alot of money so he paints for people trying to get a little extra so we can stay in this home. Also, my father needs foot surgery which we cant afford because he fell off a ladder trying to cover a neighbors air conditioner(two stories high). We don't have any family on my mothers side because we had gotten into a fight over my nanas death . Its been over 2 years since weve spoken to those people I truely miss them but this house is my number 1 priority.I want my sister to have the childhood that I never had at 6. Kepping her in a home is somthing that I will never give up on. She has an eating dissorder along with dislexuia. My mother and father care about everything except themselves all they want is to help others. They have too much on their plate and I feel like its thier time to sit down relax and for all this weight to be lifted off thier shoulders.I think its time for my parents to be rewarded for all their hard work and love for life.Everytime I feel like giving up my parents always say theres a little hope left so keep going. So please choose us we really need this.Dreams can become reality as long as you pray and Ive been, this is the one chance for my parents to live the life with no fear. Thanks so much I appreaciate you reading this!
Kelly.
It seems that your show is going off the air but I was hoping that you could help out clients of mine (I am a realtor)who have been displaced due to a fire in their home (uninsured). All personal posessions have been lost including photos of the wife's grandparents signed by Norman Rockwell. I believe they posed for Rockwell back in the day… The wife is from Stockbridge and their home is in West Stockbridge. I have just listed the home so they can hopefully sell it "as is" and pay off the mortgage but they would certainly prefer to repair it and hold on. They have no financial resources to make repairs and desperately need housing. The wife is currently unemployed and the husband is a contractor with no current jobs. If you can help or have contacts who would like to "Play it Forward" please email me.
I am a single parent raising a son who is 8 years of age. We are living in a house that was built in 1958. This house needs a lot of repairs and is causing health problems for my son. Due to the foundation of the house the floors are falling in because it is sitting to low to the ground. The plumbing is so old and there are leaks in certain places in the home that with both of these issues are causing the walls in the house to have mold and mildew. The house also contains lead paint also the electrical wiring is so old I am afraid that this house may get burned down that would be unfortunate because this is the only place we call home. The roof is leaking basically the house is really just falling apart inside and out. With the mold and mildew issue it causes my son to stay sick constantly with his asthma and allergy issues. I have had to take him to a specialist for them to tell me exactly what keeps causing him to stay sick. I desperately need help on trying to get this house remodeled in order for me and my son to live without all of the medical problems. I want let him have friends to stay over because the house is in such bad shape. I don’t want the other kids making fun of him saying that the house has a smell and the floors are falling in, the smell is due to all the mildew in the home.
This home is the home I grew up in and needless to say the community. If I had to give this rural community a name now it would be the forgotten community. Aldrich once was a mining community it really should considered being a historical community. Years ago the City of Montevallo came around and offered some of the people in the neighborhood to sign a petition to join in the city limits. Well little did they know that by doing this it was not going to help the community instead it actually hurt the community. They apply for grants and this community never see any improvement in their area if they do they are very minor. The majority of the money is spent fixing up the town of Montevallo. We cannot get them to repair our roads and should keep those repaired due to the garbage trucks that are sent out to collect garbage and also trucks from other area dumping material in that area. If anything happens as far as storm damage you will have to call and try to get help. This is a one-way in and a one-way out community. There are a lot of people who have moved out this neighborhood because of the condition it is in at this time. The neighborhood is quite for the most part and it is good to raise kids in this area because we all look out for each other. There is not a lot of traffic in and out of the community so we don’t have that fear that they are not able to play outside. There are a lot of mobile homes in the area but there are also houses that are in the area that are still there from years ago. A lot of the homes in the area need work and unfortunately these are elder people who are just trying to survive off their Social Security.
This is a despaired cry for help I feel like I am living in a poverty stricken area and it should not have to be this way if we could get help. I am a member of Green Chapel Baptist Church and I am also the Secretary of this church. Our congregation is trying so hard to come up with something for the kids to do in their spare time so that they want have to turn to the streets. A community center is this area would be great for the single parents who have kids and is trying to come together to try and raise children that will one day grow up and change in the world. Thank you for your time and I hope to hear from someone soon.
