  1. I know this isn't the way you guys do this but I came across this article and thought that maybe it would be great if they could get a home makeover. I know it's not normal that you would do it for someone renting, but this Woman a mother of six could really use the help. Please help her and her kids.

The mother who became a viral celebrity after smacking her son for participating in the Baltimore riots is in the news again after she lost her home to a fire.

Toya Graham, a single mother of six, found herself homeless after her 17-year-old son Michael set the house ablaze when frying chicken tenders.

"I had stepped away to the bathroom real quick," Michael told WBFF. "When I got back, there was smoke and fire coming from the pan."

He tried to throw water onto the grease fire, but that only made things worse. Although nobody was harmed in the incident, the damage has made the home inhabitable. Graham does not have renter's insurance.

Graham and Michael are probably best known for their public altercation that was caught on camera during the Baltimore riots in April 2015. When Graham found Michael on the streets, wearing a mask and rioting, she immediately took matters into her own hands. CNN reports she stormed up to her son, smacked him in the head and screamed at him.

"That's my only son and at the end of the day I don't want him to be a Freddie Gray," she said, referring to the man who had died while in police custody, according to CNN. "I was angry. I was shocked, because you never want to see your child out there doing that."

Her actions went viral and received a host of praise. Baltimore Police Commissioner Anthony Batts even thanked her, saying more parents should take after her example.

"And if you saw in one scene you had one mother who grabbed their child who had a hood on his head and she started smacking him on the head because she was so embarrassed," he said. "I wish I had more parents that took charge of their kids out there tonight."

WBFF reports that numerous people have reached out to offer donations to the Graham family after the loss of their home. There is also a GoFundMe page for those interested in donating. By Aug. 17, it had far exceeded its $5,000 goal, raising more than $30,000.

"I'm tired of the struggle, I feel broken," she said. "You try to hold on because you try to do everything, you try to be strong for your children. You try, but this is a lot."

So this is my story I am a recovering addict I am a mother of 4 and my only dream in life right now is to get my children back I was incarcerated for 7 years all together I have been home 7 months and God has opened so many doors for me I have my DL I have a car and now somehow I am getting to rent to own a home in 18 months I will go into buying the home I am unsure how God is going to provide for this all to take place but I know without a shadow of a doubt this is Gods plan for me and He will provide. This home is 4 bedroom one bath 3 car garage and its a fixer upper house again I am unsure how I am going to fix it up but I know God will provide and show me away. For some reason talks show came to mind i don't even really watch TV but when I do this is a show that I love. My past is far from perfect my future is unclear but I will trust and rely on God I know he will restore my children to me and the only way that is going to happen is for me to provide a home stable and safe for my children and thats all I'm trying to do. Growing up I never had one place I could call home we moved around a lot and did not have a stable home and I want more than anything to give that to my kids I just don't know how to do that life is hard and I made wrong choices but I'm trying something new today and I'm asking for help that is something very hard for me to do but I'm doing it if there is any way y'all could help me in anyway even if its not a full house makeover I would be extremely greatful any help at all is better than none at all I don't want anything fancy I just want a stable reliable home for my children. Thank you for ur time

  5. I would like to take the time to express how i appreciate all that you guys do!! My grandma is in need of something! Her house is full of mold, she can barely breathe in there. She had to rip up all the carpets and she's walking on hard wood floors. She can't even shower in there because her sewer is completely backed up in the basement. I let her come over and shower, but she won't stay with me because she refuses to leave her dogs! My grandma died a few years ago and they do not have any money. Im at a lost right now because her breathing problems are getting worse everyday.. she has tarps on the top of her house to try to keep it from leaking when it storms but they just are not doing the job anymore! I would love to keep my grandma around alot longer than just a few more years because that house is going to end up killing her from the mold! Please take the time to acknowledge this please she does so much for everyone else and it's her turn to get what she deserves. All she needs is one bedroom it's just her.

  10. Hello my name is gabby, this story im about to tell you is about my parents. My parents have grown up as kids together, and have been together since they were sixteen. Since then they had lived in Ontario CA. And raised three kids, My older brother, my older sister, and the youngest me. We lived next door to my grandparents from my fathers side since my brother was young, which was almost 30 years ago. In 2006 everything changed my mom and dad decided to move us to Utah to give us a better chance in life. At that time i was 12. We all lived together. We grew up all got married, had children of our own. Moved away moved back home. My sister is the only one who currently doesnt live at my oarents house. My parents have supported us through many things and even though grown up and married have provided for our families when we couldn't. Now 11 years later we received a phone call at the beginning of the year that my eighty year old grandfather from my dad had another heart attack, recovered but was very weak. My grandma is eighty two and cant do as much as she used to be able to and has health problems of her own. In May my parents decided they were going to leave to be with my grandparents. They took nothing but their cars and clothes being the selfless loving people they are, they didn't know how things would work out but they went anyways leaving a lot behind, their house, three kids, six grandkids under the age of eight, friends, and their jobs. Soon after the move my grandfather was diagnosed with dementia, my parents are working hard to make ends meet. My brother and I along with our families took over the house payment of my parents 3400 squarefoot house since we were living there. And my parents live with my grandparents in their 1300 square foot home. Its tiny and a tight fit for the four of them. Im writing this because my parents have given so much and receive so little back, I know they deserve better but financially all of us are stuck and can't help. I hope and pray my words can reach out to give these four amazing, wonderful people the new start they deserve. Thank you

  12. We would love to be picked for the 2017 Exteme Makeover of our home. We are a family of 4. My husband currently serving in the United States Navy. In May of 2016 our life changed forever. Our youngest daughter was born blue and unresponsive. After much medical intervention they were able to get her resessitated and quickly took her to the Army hospital more then an hour away. We had no idea what this would mean for our future. Her MRI showed brain damage from lack of oxygen to multiple parts of her brain. After weeks in the NICU we brought her home and quickly realized our current house would not be suitable for her. In September we bought what we thought would be our "forever home" as it had all required living space on one floor. After living here for just over a year we are realizing there is lots of work that needs to be done to make it work for her needs. With the growing cost of intervention services and medical equipment it is becoming prevalent that we will not be able to afford to make this house a perfect space for her. Thank you for your consideration as this would change our lives and we would be forever grateful!

  14. Hi, my name is LaTasha Sheridan. My husband is a denver police officer. We lost a little girl 18 months ago. I haven't been able to work full time since. Our little girl was born with a brain tumor at 11 days old they removed it. She had a stroke during surgery, but she was a fighter from birth. She learned how to eat and sit up. Was learning how to walk in a walker. At the age of 3 Kasier gave her the wrong dose of seizure medication. She got Steven Johnson syndrome! Her skin peeled of it was a horrible 9 months. She had to get a feeding tube. She had an increase Seizures, and medicine wasn't helping she had to undergo another surgery. Not 3 months later had to have a sunt placed. A few years passed and she was doing great! Until she got bacterial pseudomonas of the blood, spent 45 days in the hospital and from here her life was just down hill. Childern's hospital in Aurora, Co was our second home. Trying to juggle our two boys at home and our daughter who spent one year 245 days in the hospital. I haven't added all the other 3 years up but we spent half if not more days in the hospital. I wish my boys had a play place. And my husband didn't have such a long honey do list.

  16. Hello,
My name is Katrina. I am a mother of twin boys who currently share a room & seem to be cramped up in their own space. I also have a step daughter. My parents live with my husband and I because my mother needed help caring for my father. My father is blind & disabled. They are in a small room to which you can barely walk. He is blind and trips over everything & it shouldn't be that way in his own home. We live in a 4 bedroom trailer but since my parents moved in we have started to out grow the home. My dad is in his early 60s & is a disabled veteran and shouldn't have to live this way. We are just trying to provide the best that we can with what we have. To top everything off though a year ago someone gave us bed bugs and we do not have the few thousand to hire an exterminator so we just strip the beds and spray every day. It's miserable.
I would say we would love for you to see our home, but I'd be lying because honestly I wouldn't want anyone seeing it. It just would be nice to have some help getting a new more spacious home for my children and especially for my father.
Thank you for taking the time out to read our story and I hope your take it into consideration.

  19. Hi, my name is Nicole. I'm the oldest child out of 6 children. A couple years ago, my step dad got caught doing something terrible and killed himself so he wouldn't have to go to jail. My mom has guardianship of his two kids. A couple months after, she got pregnant. We now have a one year old in our small and crowded house. My new step dad is currently unemployed and so is my mom. She can't get a job because she has our appointments to juggle, along with taking us to school and taking care of the baby. We would be truly blessed if you could help us out. We definitely need it. Thank you.

  21. This is my story, cson From the age of 5 (about as far back as I can remember) we never had even a safe or proud place to live. My chilldhood was nothing I even want to look back on exspecially not proud of it, I always dreamed of growing up, having a family of my own and living in a home my children and I would be proud of. Unfortunately it never ended that way, I
became a single parent at 18 yrs old eventually I had 3 other sons which we all lived in a 2 bedroom home which leaked in every room, I did get married but he was a very abusive alcoholic and didn't try to help me make a better life for my boys , eventually I chose to divorce him and become a single parent again, full time job, 4 very happy but rambitious little boys but I never complained even through the storms when the boys and I had to grab pots from the kitchen and catch the water before it leaked onto the floor, in the winter we all slept in living room to stay warm by a old warm morning heater and in the summer we slept in the living room to stay cool, it was extremely tough but I loved having all my boys with me, never had I been so happy in my life. Their all grown and gone now with families of their own, they no longer have contact with me because I couldn't give them the finer things in life that I know they wanted but couldn't afford. cHere I am once again finding myself raising my 5 yr old granddaughter most of the time, it's a hard struggle more so now since I'm not mentally capable of being such a strong person as I ummhuse to be when I raised my 4 boys, I live in a very small trailor wich leaks, has holes in the floors, needs so , much work I truly feel like giving up and walking away sometimes1, feeling like a failure that can't even provide for my granddaughter, but never once does she complain abt the drips from the ceiling,, holes in the floors, or cabinets that's falling in, instead she is always full of life and love for me, I feel even more of a failure dwith her she depends on me so much and , to stay with me all the time, but I feel horrible to the point of tears as she never complains, this would be a dream true for her to be happy with her home here with me, she doesn't even have a bedroom of her own not even a bed she can sleep in, she sleeps on the loveseat I sleep on the couch, but we always make the best of the worse of times, we cook and clean toevtegether and play together. Seeing her smile means the world to me, but could you help me give her the happiness she really deserves ? Even though she never complains I know she would love to have a her own room and a place she could have her friends over to o have playtime. Please help me give her the happiness and joy in life my little angel deserves. I'm so blessed and proud to call her my beautiful one in a million gta daughter who is by my side through the worse of times. Thank you and please consider giving her this dream make over she would love and so deserves, i want to give her that happiness and pride I failed at being able to give my boys as they were growing up, I pray I can make my little granddaughters smile a whole lot brighter and that you all will help me make that happen.. Thank you again so much.

  28. Hello!

My name is Cyndi Hernandez and I live in Corpus Christi, Texas. We, my husband and I, have some dear friends that are in dire need of an Extreme Home Makeover. My husband has known them since they were in their teens back in the sixties. I met them through my husband when were dating back in 1970, when I was a teen. Yes, we are baby boomers, the generation that swore we would never get old! but guess what… we did! During our working years they left Corpus Christi in search of better jobs to provide for their family. They traveled across the county and finally settled in Phoenix, AZ. where they worked hard and raised their family. About ten years ago as they approached their golden years they came back home because well… there is no place like home after all! They went back to the home they left behind only to find that it was in need of repair. They did what they could to make it comfortable for them to live out the rest of their lives. Shortly after they returned home their son and his family also came to live in the Corpus Christi area. They found a home for them and their four children and our friends couldn't be happier to have their grandchildren close by. What grandparent wouldn't be? A few years ago the sons wife left their son and went back to Arizona leaving their four children behind. Now a single dad their son had no choice but to move in with them as he could no longer afford the house that they were living in. He was devastated by this and in this devastation he developed a substance abuse problem leaving the grandparents with the sole responsibility of raising their grandchildren. At sixty-nine and seventy years old its not an easy task. They both are still healthy enough to work to supplement their social security checks to provide for the needs of the grandchildren all of which are in school. Their income is not enough to fix or make additions to the small home that is now falling apart. There are three adults and four children living in a one bedroom, one bath home. It is infested with roaches that they can not get rid of. The stove doesn't work, they use electric griddles or hot plates to cook on. It just breaks my heart that these children are growing up in these conditions and that our friends are going through this, trying to help their son with his problem and raise their grandchildren under these conditions. They have always cared for the needs of others, he works as a provider for a handicapped young man which is what he did in his younger years and she is a substitute teacher. While in Arizona she was a social worker and worked with kids and families in need. Now they are in great need and I would like to nominate them for an Extreme Home Makeover so that they can raise the grandchildren in a modest, but decent home that they can thrive in and our friends can live out the rest of their lives comfort. I pray that you will consider them and I thank you for doing what you do to make life better for those in need.
    Sinerely,
    Cyndi

  29. hello and good morning my name is Natasha and I have been trying to find help with our home we are a family of 4 and we have 8 pets. we purchased our home in july of 2015 through the down payment assistance program of orange county fl at the time we had 3 home inspections and were finally cleared to close on our home. about 5 days ago my husband was in the garage and noticed a pile of what looked like sand he figured that it had come from the sand bags given to us last year to keep the rain out and our home from flooding. he then cleaned up the area and notices that it was termites he decided to look further and as he touch the wall noticed it coming apart so he removed the wall about 8 feet of wall which is adjacent to our master bedroom and we had an infestation he then removed everything and found that it was literally in our walls. we then decided to contact terminex to see if there were any other colonies and so forth. come this past Saturday the tech came out and they started to test more of the walls in the home and found the entire front portion of our home infested as well. I have been trying to get help from several different organizations and we don't qualify due to my disability income and my husband's income. the damage is so severe we have no were to go so we have been staying in our home throughout this process my 2 children miguel aged 14 and lorenzo age 5 and my self all suffer from asthma and allergies and my husband suffers from allergies as. myself and my oldest son miguel have been affected most because of environmental and insect allergies and has caused me to be put on medications to relax my lungs and kill the infection from the difficulty in breathing my eldest son finally started to get sick as of yesterday we have no where to go and we do not want to give up on our home just yet this is our first home and something we have put our hearts and tears and my husband sweet into. this has been very difficult and challenging given the school year starts this coming Monday I am not able to clean up my eldest son's room because the dust and derby is too much for my health I have so many health issues from a car accident which physically stresses me out and in this pass January myself and my husband were again involved in another car accident. we were receiving funds with Florida's hardest hit up until my husband started his new employment and we have continued to pay our mortgage as of 2 months ago then this happened I have been trying to find help maybe a program or a community outreach to help us with the cost of all the repairs and we have hit a dead end ive even contacted a lawyer with no success. this is my last and final attempt. so I am asking for help in anyway to see if there is anything that can be done for my family and myself. I would greatly appreciate a response maybe you all can help us. I have attached photos our our current situation. in hopes of recieving and answer.

    your truly,

    Natasha Villada Loja

  30. Hello, my name is Malissa Allen

I am contacting this show cause I have watched this show for years and think that it is great what you guys stand for and never in a million years would have thought that I would have to contact you guys for help . I am 29 years old and I just recently moved back to the state of Mississippi where I was born to a small town by the name of Webb from Chicago,IL to live and raise my son with my father. Since I've been back I've found out that my 80 years young grandmother(my dad mother) has had to be moved to a little self made shack in the back of her home due to fiber glass contamination that also made her have a highly allergic reaction to it and had to be hospitalized. When I heard this it made me sad because my grandmother has raised 12 kids and has always had her doors open to all of her 30+grand kids and only the Lord knows how many great grands to come visit and now she had to be confined to a small shack because her insurance wont cover for her damages or loses. If you could find it in your hearts to help me put a smile on my granny face I would forever be grateful for that. She tries to keep a strong face for us but I know she feels sad because all of her memories of her life and the entire family life are in arms length of her and she cant get to them. If your willing to help me make my granny spirit rise with joy I know my whole family will appreciate it and she will too.

Please and Thank you Extreme Make over: Home Edition
    Sincerely, Malissa Allen

  31. My husband and I learned about a competition to win a house from his cousin. We entered. The house, called "Tickletown" was built in the late 1800s early 1900s as a general store. The current owner turned the house into a community center, but being of retirement age the current owner wanted to pass on the torch. She opened the competition, which required a 200 word essay committing to continuing the legacy of community building and environmental awareness. My husband was the second runner up. The winner declined to take over the house after a year, the runner up decided not to take the house because she was a principal of a high school in Arizona, so the house came to us. My husband has family in the area and had just received a contract with the Seneca Nation of Indians and the house seemed like a great way to move into the area, be close to family, and be in a beautiful rural setting. Tickletown is part dream, part nightmere. The house allows us to move into a beautiful setting close to family, however, it is need of major renovations. As an old general store it would allow us to use our anthropology doctorates and our yoga training to work for the community.

  35. Hi my name is Betty. (I wrote a few minutes before – think I hit a wrong button). This may be a "second" story.
For the past 5 years I fought to save my home. My brother at the "last minute" – found out that I needed to make a payment on or before June 30, 2017 -or my home would be sold! He somehow got it together and I saved my home. But, b/c of paying attorneys, etc., I had to let me house "go" and my brother Bob came to the rescue, again! He is a veteran and acquired phobias. He can't go on airplanes; or take elevators, etc. Additionally, he is not that well physically; takes 30-40 pills every morning (fighting prostate cancer and heart problems); but he never complains and works seven days a week! My brother could not believe I was living w/o water for two years! He and a worker came over and ripped my bathrooms apart; fixed the leaks; installed toilets, etc. (and is still working on it). Also installed a window A/C in my bedroom b/c it's sooo hot!! Bottom line: he has a trailer in Tavernier (next to Key Largo, FL) which he has rented for years. The last tenants completely "demolished" it. This was his "pride & joy" but has been unable to use it for years. I would like to nominate my brother to have his trailer fixed – not for rental – but for him to [finally] use it for pleasure! He has a little house in Miami, which he rents, and lives in the back two rooms. He is so unselfish – always helping our family. He helps my son Danny (diabetic) monetarily and fixes his truck, etc. Now I found out that he is going to fix my roof! I so wish I could win the Lotto – and I would not allow my brother to work anymore!! It's his time to "enjoy"!! Thank you Ty – Love your show!! I love love to decorate. I hope you will consider this a project for your show – it's a 2/bedroom / 2/bath trailer on a canal; w/ living/dining/kitchen. But it's sooo wrecked up! This would be a "second" miracle – the first miracle was from my brother to me – he saved my home!! And this one would be from me to him!!! Looking forward to My Miracle!!! Lotsa Love, Betty

  36. Hi – My name is Betty. I have the Best Brother in the World! After a long 5-year battle with the second mtg. on my home – I almost lost it! At the very end, my brother Robert (Bob) came up with the final amount needed on June 30, 2017, saving my home from being sold! On top of that, since I was paying attorney fees for 5 years – I let my home go. I even had to live without water for two years(!) which no one knew about. My brother, who is 75 years old, came over with a helper and ripped out my bathrooms – installed toilets, etc.! Bought me a window A/C b/c I don't have central a/c. I could go on and on! My brother is battling prostate cancer (we think it's in remission); has heart problems; takes 30-40 pills every morning; works 7 days a week!! has trouble with his legs – and still came to my aid. My brother is a veteran and due to his military hitch – acquired some phobias. He can't go on elevators; on airplanes, etc., and basically can't travel. I feel so sorry for him and appreciate all he does that I want to nominate him for a remake of his beloved trailer in Tavernier, FL. He rented it, but the tenants completely "demolished" it. I told my him to never rent it again – he needs to [finally] enjoy it for himself! My brother also helps my son Danny, who has diabetes Type I. When he's out of work – he's right there -helping him monetarily; fixing his truck, etc. Finally, I just found out that he's going to get my roof fixed! I can't believe his generosity! I wish I could someday "hit" the lotto so that he never has to work again!! I so hope that you can help him with his little "pride and joy" in the Florida Keys! He truly is a very kind generous person, who never complains about aches and pains, or anything else! Getting his trailer remodeled would be beyond "icing on his cake"! Thank you for your consideration – it would be "another" miracle – this time from me to my wonderful Brother Bob.

  38. I feel like I'm living in a twilight zone.. I live in Fort Worth Tx and 49yrs old and I have black mold in my home and it was causing seizure like symptoms ,blackouts and many more serious symptoms. I lost almost 2yrs in and out of ers, specialists trying to figure out why I was so sick and loosing my life . I was so desprate I borrowed 14,000.00 to save my life and get the home remediated. The company I hired and I paid half they did not follow epa protocol and left the containment open and ran a new air condition system and caused mold spores to go through my home and a the new a.c. system they just installed
I lived for a year without central ac and heat and lived out of my bedroom so I would not containamate my whole home and they did it in 3days.. the mold tester quit after they failed the mold test and he saw the containment open since he said it was a nightmare and he didn't want his license pulled. They payed another tester and he was suppose to do 4tests with last test with a.c. running.. he passed them before he did the a.c. running test and I can not move home. He came back and did last test and he told me verbally mold spores were high and would call the mold company.. thats was in July.. he has not. Project started June 30. Ive contacted the state but they are slow and the company is suing me for the remainder…now when I go back in the house immediately I can feel this dizziness, my skin starts getting irritated and the confusion starts after being in a short time.. and the smell from the chemicals is still overwhelming..I am a single woman and myself and my animals cannot move back home ..the chemical smell is so strong but main issues still debillating mold for me.. I am loosing so much because of their negligence. I have to sell my home at a loss and leave all my possessions behind because they make me sick.. I am trying to find homes for some of my animals .. so much is being taken from me because of a companies negligence but I'm broke and the stress is slowly causing more illnesses. I have to start from scratch and loose everything. I can't even go back and pack or clean items because it makes me so sick. I just want to regain my health and help others. I only owe 30,000. 00 for my home and my payment ls are less than 700.00 month.. I want and need my home safe for me to move back and regain my life back. Please help me . I dont want to loose everything. The company made so many mistakes, I paid for new insulation and for them to sanitize attic and they left old insulation with feces in some places, left refrigerator unpluggrd so I lost the food and fridge smells so bad. They left a hole in a.c. closet where debris from attic is falling, all my clothes and furniture has mold spores and they make me sick now. I always had a safe room and that was my bedroom. I would live in there and try to go to work and now I've lost that so I can not even go there. I dont want to sell my home and have a loss.. Please please help me regain my life back so I can help others struggling with mold and illness. This is and has been a horrible rollercoaster !!
I feel like I'm in the twilight zone..
    I desperately need a makeover!!
I miss being a grandma and enjoying simple things in life..

  41. My name is Jermaine and my mother and uncle live in the house they grew up in. The house is near a hazardous creek but the real problem is from the age of this old house and them not being able to keep up. When I visited I was heartbroken. They both are disabled. My father died last year from cancer so its put more stress on her. I live 50miles away and work for people with developmental disabilities to help take care of my son. I can barley provide for my family then alone help them. I myself had my own issues with houseing. I am content though. I wish they lived closer but I try. My family has always struggled. I just want them to be safe and comfortable. Mom just said she found mice in her drawer smh. My uncles almost blind mom has heart, sugar, stomach…… List goes on. She was a nurse to help me and others but I just want her to be happy. Please help her god please help. She has holes in her walls and the floors are falling as well as the ceiling.

  42. My name is Traci and I am asking for the biggest gift anyone could make happen. My father in law is in his final stages of lung cancer. He has fought like no one I've ever seen and has surpassed his 6 months. His struggle is daily and he falls quite often. We honor his wishes to keep him home as long as possible. He's literally terrified to leave his wife Wilma with the house needing so much work. It's a 2 story with a basement and the lateralls on the septic need replaced and the sewage keeps backing up into the basement. The kitchen sink needs the plumbing redone so Wilma doesn't have to keep dumping the pan that's so hard due to her back issues. My father in law, Bill struggles to get passed the doorways with his wheelchair but somehow he finds the strength. Their children are there to help as much as possible but still have jobs to go to everyday. His wife struggles to work 3 days a week and they both are always giving so they put themselves on the back burner. Bill has served in the Army and is struggling with pain from a bullet he has taken from the back on top of the cancer. I am begging for help for Bill so he doesn't have all of the house issues weighing on him when he has to part his amazing wife. We live in Independence Missouri and this would be my gift of a lifetime for these amazing parents.

  43. My Grandmother is 58 years old . Her and my grandfather need a home makeover. My three year old son was killed in a drive by so I came to stay with my grandma. The house is in terrible condition. The Roof and trimming of her house is rotten. The inside of the house is not a good living condition. A few years ago someone ran into my grandmother house with their car and hurt my granddad. I just hope and pray that we are picked we have been through so much.

  44. My name is Chrstine Vesely and this is my story. I am from Long Island NY, my father Sean Vesely, hotrod legend, moved his family of 4 to a small town here in Trinity NC. Why, you may ask? He wanted us girls to be able to experience more of a "country life" being we loved horses and four wheelers and in Copiague Ny you cant have either one. So with all his Hotrod buddies retiring and moving to NC he decided it was the perfect place for us girls to grow up. With that being said he bought a 5.5 acre unfinished brick home with 2 fabrication shops for his business and we lived in a modular double wide as he started to finish the brick home himself. Mind you my father was a "one man show" in his business and building the home. He was a Hotrod fabricator and he did it all from welding to fabrication. He was a beast at what he did and he did it all on his own the whole nine! And because of him I am a High school senior project honoree that made the front page of Archdale-Trinity news paper for building my first and only 1932 Ford Ratrod I built from ground up all by myself in little over 3 months, which thats all the time I had. I even made the Young Rodders Magezine and was also broadcasted over the show Crazy Car confessions. My father had severe asthma and unfortunately with the line of work he did it caught up to him at age 50 and took his life back in 2008. My mother was on disability my whole life due to back an neck problems and was constantly back an fourth to NY on behalf of her neck operations and all her doctors were in NYC. So that left me at age 17 to take care of my sister age 13 and the "Vesely Acres". Ive always had the hopes of fulfilling my fathers dream, however I was diagnosed with Chron's disease at age 18, and then at age 20 I had my son who is now 6 and going to first grade in elementary school. Throughout the years since his passing and having to grow up fast without proper parenting my sister and I inherited the "Vesely Acres". The brick house still stands to this day but is just falling apart, and I cant stand to see it get any worse. I am being forced to have to sell on behalf of not being able to finish this dream and its not what I want to do. Ive fought so hard to keep the "Vesely Acres" alive and would love nothing more to be able to finish out my fathers dream and to be able to give my son the life my father intended for my sister and I. So I ask for you to come out take a look at what a beautiful home this can be turned into and just give it chance to be what it was set out to be.

Thank you for your time, Christine Vesely

  46. My name is Alyssa and I know a lady who really needs this. Her name is Sarah and she works so hard from 6 PM til 6 am every day. She lost her car about a month ago so she's been borrowing one just to make ends meet. She's had a rough last couple of months and she just needs something better. I would be truly greatful if she could get a new house. She lives in a horrible 3 bedroom trailer that needs everything fixed and she has two kids living with her. Please help her.

  47. Hello my name is Ambria i don't like the thought of asking for help but I am all out of options I was born one of two children I have had a wonderful but also sad life my brother and I had to grow up to early with depression seeping it's way into our lives you see my father suffered from extreme depression and was a danger to his own life I learned to be a ball of nerves at a very young age to make a long story short, my brother and I grew up he joined the Army and I stayed behind, feel deeply in love with the man of my dreams, married and had our first child in 2007, a baby girl, and then tragedy hit us in 2008 we had our 2nd child a bouncing baby boy! I know what you are thinking how is this a tragedy? This is a wonderful moment in life!! Yes that's what we thought too! Until one day later after they released me and my baby from the hospital, I new something was really bad wrong I was still in a lot of pain and passing clots that just didn't seem right but the doctors said nothing to worry about it's only " trapped air" well I began to badly bleed my husband and mother rush to call 911 I get to the hospital bleeding to death at this point the dr takes a look and tells us the news that would forever put a hardship on my life he says you are passing a fetus" I'm almost passing out at this point from the blood loss and go into shock the dr removed the baby and took it away I never even got to see it" they do a ultrasound the next day and I went code blue from the experience that my body had been through after I recovered from this I could only seep into that horrid place of depression to know that I had twins and I only have the one. Life becomes a little easier for me in 2010 we had our 3rd child another baby boy every thing was looking better for us but once again something happened it's the day after delivery and I'm waiting for the nerse to bring me my baby for a feeding "she didn't show up we became worried calling the station to see what was going on, the nurse says our baby was with the cardiovascular dr in the ultrasound room that was all she could say! We had to wait a hour for the dr to speak with us we where so scared she says that our baby has a heart defect called a PDA and he needed to be seen by the dr from vandy before releasing us well to make a long story short our child has had to be seen by the cardiologist every year awaiting the possibility of surgery, he has spent his whole life having to be extremely careful not to get sick as this puts a risk to heart infection so on that note my husband and I choose to homeschool all of our children to lower the risk of illness even down to the common cold! We now have a total of 4 children we had our 4th baby in 2014 a happy healthy baby boy! We decided that we had our hands full enough and I had my tubes done all was looking great my husband and I finally got the chance to take the children on a small trip to Florida our first vacation only To discover that our same child has something called Tourette's syndrome That worsens when a person gets out of their normality in which we had done that we left for a vacation which set it off this was in 2015, my husband and I had been awaiting an approved application for permanent residency here in the states so we have always been on the lookout for deportation for any given reason and at this point I'm a serious ball of nerves , in 2016 we finally get the news we have been waiting on for 10 long years! He was approved for his visa!!! He got on a plane ✈️ flew to his homeland of Honduras went to the appointment for his visa we struggled with that there were missing documents that he was to take with him and his lawyer didn't send it with him so they said he may not be able to let him return home to us for 2 years and I'm praying to God to help us, my mom has always taken care of us in our time of need we weren't alone but we needed him home I contacted the US embassy many times I got the lawyer to fax the missing documents and we finally got him back on that plane ✈️ with his visa in hand!! Praise to our wonderful lord above always taking care of us!! Like I pointed out before my mother has always been there for us taking care of us! I have been unable to work due to everything. My mother spent all her savings on a 1993 3bd 2ba mobile home for us back in 2013 it was all she could afford and my husband had a hard time supporting us with the little amount he was able to get without a visa but he did try! It is now 2017 and our trailer is falling apart my mother has had one heart surgery is now fully dependent on a pass maker and the doctor says she will be needing another soon, we almost lost her with the first go around. Our home is falling apart literally the roof is cracked in many places there is black mold under the home, we tried to purchase a home in town with plenty of space for the children and for my parents seeing that I'm the only child local and able to take care of them especially my mother we were unable to receive a lone for that home the reason is unclear to this day, it feel through 3 days before closing date. 48. My name is Kasey McMillan. My parents don't know I'm asking for a complete strangers help considering my father is a very "proud" man. Over the last couple years, his age is finally catching up to him and his health is an up and down roller coaster. He and my mother live in an older trailer on 5 acres. Every time we turn around something has to be fixed. When I was 16 my dad built a small apartment just a few 100 feet from the trailer because he just loves me that much, he doesn't want me to ever move away. I am now 26. Haha. I am asking with all the love I have for my parent's if you could help me build them their dream log house! My mother has always had a thing for them and my dad, well, my dad will go along with whatever the woman wants since she is "the boss". So please, I pray this gets to whomever and help make not just their dream home come true but also mine as well because I don't want to just imagine their look and reactions, I want to see it! Thank you again!
    Kasey McMillan.

  49. Aloha,

My name is Colleen Rezentes and I live in Hilo HI. My husband is retired and we have raised our kids in our home here in hilo which are now adults and on their own. In 2014 we lost our youngest child at the age of 16 and our life was damaged in many different ways. Depression became our greatest strength, we somewhat can’t find that peace that keeps a family afloat.. My eldest daughter and her husband has been separated and this september 2017 will be 5 years that their children has lived with us. They have 4 beautiful children who has been living with my husband and myself here in our home. The oldest is now 13, the second child is 10 and we have a set of twins which will be soon 9 years old. We have been trying to renovate this home for over 10 years. But with economy, its been all so hard to do so. My husband continues to do his own thing while I try to raise my grandkids alone while trying to hang on and keep this family together. Somedays i can’t find the strength to move forward. But when i look at these innocent kids, I know that i need to do this for them. This home will eventually be theres. Please help me help them and give us a fresh new start. I am not able to video us, but I would be glad to have you enter our home and do so. This is one of those 2 story old houses that would be about 90 years old today. We have holes in the flooring which we keep trying to patch, holes in the screens, holes in the windows. Theirs mosquitos everywhere. I keep telling my grand children to be thankful for what we have, and how others out there have it worst. However, it seems to be getting worst. Now we have rats running through the holes in the wood. The post an piers on the bottom floor is rotting away. I have a small tax business and cannot invite them here. Instead, I meet them at starbucks down the road to do their taxes. The window seals do not have all the windows in them and thats how the mosquitos invite themselves into our home. My bedroom is in the living room, and the kids have the bedrooms.I try my best to make things so much easier for them and yet to sit back watch this continues just breaks my heart. With all they been through not having their parents in their lives, just to have a real home would complete their hearts. We would love to have you come here and take a look at this house and see if you can help us give them a real home. Thank you, Colleen

  50. Dear Ty, My Dad passed away in 2012 and now my dear brother at age 65. My brother lived alone in our family home for years until he passed. My Mother is very grief stricken and now at age 89 has to take care of this home. Its needs to be remodeled, the kitchen itself is from 1962 and then there is the bathroom which not only is way too small for a disabled 89yo it is not disable friendly putting it mildly. At this time in her life it would be such a godsend to have your team come and make the bathroom bigger and easier for my mom who needs a good cheering up. Climbing in and out of a bathtub to take a shower when one walks with a walker just does not work. When it rains the basement can flood which is not good either. She has no closet in the bedroom where she sleeps, because she has to sleep on the main floor where there is no stairs. We just need complete help and remodel of the entire house. There is even a wall that is rotting. Can you please help us?

  51. I am writing on behalf of my brother. He would never write something like this but he is just the most amazing person so I am doing it for him! At the age of 20 he was injured in a pool and suffered a severe spinal cord injury that left him a quadriplegic. After recovering from a coma, coming of the respirator (which we didn't think possible) and going to a physical/occupational rehab center for a year, Michael finished college. He then broke the news to me he was moving to California (alone!) to get a law degree. I was honestly shocked when he left. I didn't understand but he told me if he stayed I would take care of him for the rest of my life and he needed to make it on his own. We are a family of 9 including my Mom and Dad (Mike and I are the youngest of 7 kids). Since he graduated from law school he has been working for the San Diego County prosecutors office and has had a very successful career prosecuting some really awful criminals. He doesn't make much money working for the county although he could have if he went into private practice. He is a very talented trial lawyer and I personally would never want to face him in court! Most people with my brothers injury would never have done and accomplished as much as he has but it has come at a price. He is starting to decline after living in a wheelchair for 30 years. He will be turning 50 this August! We never knew if he would live let alone contribute back to society, his community and our family in such amazing ways. He is truly my hero and I am so grateful that he lived to accomplish so much. But his life has been very hard as one can imagine. His condo where he lives is old and tired, it is not well maintained because he doesn't have ability to do this work himself and things get banged up and scuffed by his wheelchair. The apartment is not really set up well for his needs. He would love to move to a more appropriate place but he can't really afford that and we are not sure how much longer he will be able to work since he is aging and this takes on a more rapid process when you are so physically restricted with lots of health issues from his disability. So I am writing on the off chance that someone would hear our story, recognize what an incredible person he is, and help me to give him an amazing gift of a new remodeled condo that he could enjoy for the remainder of his years. Thank you for hearing my families story!

  52. Hi my name is Sara. I am writing to you because my in laws just purchased a very old house on a large property. The property is nearly 6 acres and was not maintained by the previous owner resulting in snakes and all sorts of wild life on our property. We bought this property because we are 6 members in the family wanting to expand and live in one home, keeping the Pakistani tradition going. We ultimately all want to live together with our large family and keep our parents with us. Houses in the city were not going to accommodate that many members in one family. In addition to that, the house is falling apart, we have a well which was contaminated, air conditioning that didn't work, broken deck, broken terrace and extremely damp home. Water leaking into the basement resulted in mould and perfect condition for pests. My mother in law and I are extremely allergic to the mould in the basement walls along with the damp smell and in dire need for help!! This all is too expensive for us to fix. Please help us!!
    Sara

  53. 54. My brother and his family are under extreme hardship and are in need of help from ABC. My brother has spent his whole life serving others physically and emotionally. About 20 years ago he was diagnosed with mild epilepsy and although challenging at times was able to help support my mother during her divorce and then married and supports his wife and 4 children. In the last 2 years his epilepsy has progressed to severe grand maul seizures and is no longer able to work. In addition to their 2 children who have mental disabilities, his wife has been a stay at home mom to dedicate her time to the kids who need additional help and support during school hours and at home. With the recent change in his employment from severe epilepsy he faces the challenge of providing for his family in a house that is falling apart room by room and he experiences frequent bouts of mini seizures and fatigue that do not permit him to complete construction labor to make needed repairs. The bathroom shower is broken, black mold is forming downstairs caused from a leak, heating system is not functioning adequately and crumbling kitchen and appliances that are failing are causing greater stress and turmoil where he cannot contribute the finances needed to fix so many problems. One of the greatest concerns is that his older home was built before 1960 and has very steep stairs to the basement where his bedroom and laundry are located, but stairs are dangerous with his epilepsy. My brother is the epitome of hero and friend… No matter the challenge or difficulty he faces he reaches out to help his kids, other people in his neighborhood and community to help with vehicle repairs at no charge and serves in his church group. With this loss of work he will no longer have the medical care for his family and himself needed to care for them which causes an enormous financial burden while also not having the finances to make repairs. My brother has been there to support each of his 4 sisters during our times of need including car accidents, divorces, hospitalizations and more.
I would really appreciate the opportunity to select my brother to receive an extreme home makeover and provide his family the relief they so desperately need.

  55. Hi my name is Lesly I am 17 years old of el Paso Texas . I live in a house of 3 rooms. my mom is a single getting divorce mom. my mom and 11 year old brother sleep in one room, my sister her husband and their new born baby sleep in another and me and my 7 year old sister sleep in the other room. we share 2 restrooms. that are not in the best conditions. I would really like this opportunity to be able to help out my mom. She is a very hard worker that has been working for over 16 years now at McDonalds. My sisters husband works at a car wash but doesn't earn much and what he does earn they use it for the baby's necessities such as his diapers and the medicine that he is taking. I would really like for my nephew to grow up in a better place, where the air condition works and not breaks ever other week or where little pieces of ceiling don't fall out. Thank you and may god bless you

  57. SAD BUT TRUE… at age 58 my husband and fell into medical difficulties and issues. Our dreams and hopes have made a substantial change due to the financial burden of our medical expenses. We have been forced into down sizing and giving up our dream home. We had to choose a different path in our home dwelling to be able to support our now depleted income.
We choose to purchase a modular home to make accommodations work out for the both of us.
After having to pull over 80,000 from my retirement funds, to get on track and out of a foreclosure, we purchased the modular home. To our surprise and disappointment we have found our new home has many faults, black mold, windows and doors that need to be replaced, walls and deck damage and the list seems to go on as we try and do the best we can without funds, just trying to make this home livable.
We are tired, frustrated and literary exhausted.
A home makeover would change ours lives now and through retirement. Can you help make our golden years more enjoyable? Desperate for help, however would be Very appreciative of any assistance!

  58. I am writing this not for a friend or a family member. But instead I'm writing for a lady whom I've had limited conversation with. Someone who lives over a 24 hour drive from my house and who never recovered after her house was damaged in a storm several years ago. The storm rolled threw Texas and at the same time the storm was rolling threw she was in a hospital having a surgery. The damage to her house was extensive. Being retired and in her 70's income didn't provide enough to fix her house and soon black mold came for a visit and has never left. She has been living out of a 10×10 dog kennel covered by several tarps, she has been bathing in a horse watering dish for several years. Over the years she has been an excellent ambassador for animals of all kind. Can you all find it in your hearts to show her that the human race can be just as nice as her four legged pets have been to her?

  59. I am a young full-time paralegal and part-time law school student in St. Louis, Missouri. My great grandmother, great aunt, and mother all live in an assisted living apartment building in East St. Louis, IL. My great grandmother, or Granny as everyone likes to call her, has her own home, which was build by my late great grandfather in the 1950s. They raised all 9 of their children there and the entire family would all gather there every Sunday for food, games, and good times. My great aunt takes care of my Granny. About 5/6 years ago they decided to move to the assisted living apartment because the home was falling apart and they were not able to climb the stairs to get to their bedrooms. The building where they live now is horrible. It's stinks, it's dirty and it's in not in a great area of town. The 2-bedroom is small and it's hard for all her her kids, grandkids, great grandkids, and family friends to gather there. It has been hard watching them live there but we cannot afford to rebuild their home. My last straw occurred today when their apartment building caught on fire. The guy in the apartment across the hall, set his couch on fire and put it in the hallway. I am unaware of his reasoning at this time. This caused the building to catch on fire and my Granny and Great Aunt were stuck in their apartment. They had to wait for the firefighters to get them out. One of their neighbors died on the stairwell from smoke inhalation. My Granny has second-degree burns on her arm. My Great Aunt has second-degree burns on her hands and feet. They were both effected by the smoke, my Great Aunt in particular and she has asthma. In addition to the recent health issues that my Granny has experience, all of these things have caused me to worry about her well being. Especially now that she's in her 80s. I would love to rebuild the home that my Great Grandfather build so long ago to give my Granny her home back and a safe place to live.

  66. Hello,

My husband and I are your everyday people that could use some help. My husband is an iraq war veteran and I am a cancer survivor. We both are survivors. We are currently living in a 2 bedroom house with 1 bath room with 4 kids. After cancer I have so many bills wracked up that we can't afford a new home. We looked into adding and addition and it is very expensive. We just want to catch a break. We both work so hard. Where our house is located we have the room for an addition.

I look at everyone else's story and see why any one of them would be desserving of a new home. I don't know how you all decide which one to pick. We are located in Arnold, MO.

  67. Hello my name is Julia. I hope this is how you apply. Our home is in desperate need. We originally bought our home thinking it would be our dream 7 years ago. Since then our plumbing in one bathroom has blown leaving the bathroom to the studs. We have also had the rest of the plumbing go out intermittently. Our heater went out two years ago and they told us there is aspestis in our attic. Last year my mother had a completely psychotic break down and ended up coming to love with us after she was released from the hospital. She shares a room with our 12 year old daughter. She has multiple health problems and trouble getting in and out of the house and around. We also have two sons 15 and 10 who share a room. I work 60+ hours a week as a 911 dispatcher to put money into the house and my husband served for 14 years in the Navy. He works full time as well and we both volunteer with our kids sports teams. A makeover would change our world and allow us to enjoy our time together and make things comfortable for my mom. Thanks.

  68. Hello Ty my name is Melissa. We have just recently took in 2 loving teenagers because of terrible issues. They are 14 and 16. Their father had committed the unthinkable……suicide. When we had went to get the childrens belongings in the home nothing was salvageable. They had lived in horrendous conditions and filth. It is breathe taking to even continue to talk about or even when I close my eyes and see the vivid pictures trapped in my mind.
Now….we live in a three bedroom mobile home that is very tiny for the seven of us. (My children his children and now our new children) we have been trying our hardest to remodel our home cause its old and falling apart. The only one working is my hubby cause I have been ill to many conditions. So I am asking from the bottom of all of our hearts to help us with our home so we can give these babies a better life then what they have endured for 14 years. No more pain and no more hurt. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for even just listening to my story. I pray that maybe one day I can tell you and our fellow community the whole story.
    Sincerely with hope,
    Melissa

  69. My husband, 7 years ago had an accident on the job. The accident left him permentally disabled. A year ago after we returned from vacation and someone set our home on fire. It only got the kitchen , but, with my husband being disabled it is hard to fix things. He has been having surgeries and more surgeries and it seems like there is always something else. We need help to fix up our home. We have 2 boys and one has a breathing problem also. We need your help please.

  70. Hello my name is Christina Cole, I live in a small town Hazen Arkansas, my husband and I bought a house that we thought we could easily remodel, after we done put money down and bought the place we discovered there is more issues that we may not be able to fix, foundation work and the bricks are cracked, I'm a rehab coordinator and I'm always helping others instead of myself I always put others before me, my husband is a truck driver and is gone all week so us trying to fix the house is really hard, we have two wonderful children that God blessed us with and all I want is to fix my home that way i can raise my kids and have family gatherings.

  71. I would like to nominate a sweet, dear friend Lisa Fox. Lisa has purchased a beautiful older home and does not have the money to remodel. Lisa has faced so many hurdles since losing her husband to cancer 5 years ago. He was the love of her life and she was his. Lisa currently lives in a run-down mobile home with her fur babies. She works 12 hour days trying to put away enough money to remodel the home she purchased. She is an avid animal lover and always trying to save pets that are not being treated well, while taking care of hers. There is so much more to her story and I cannot think of anyone that is more deserving. Thank you so much for your consideration.
