  1. My husband and I have several of your DVD's. We just love your show! Recently we bought a home (fall of 2014). We had rented for 10 yrs before this. We got ourselves out of debt during those rental yrs and felt we were ready to take on a house payment. We have 3 children (15, 12 and 7). The kids were so excited about this "new" home in the country! We were all settle in and had just enjoyed one full yr at this new home when my precious hubby did not feel well. Dec.15, 2015 he was diagnosed with Stage 3 gastric cancer (one of the top worse cancers). This came exactly one yr after we moved to our sweet place in the country. 2016 was spent home or at the Cancer Center. This was such a tough time for us as a family. My hubby has not work at all in 2016 and not so far this yr…2017. We are so wanting to be able to keep our home. At this time the house needs a new roof and some windows. New carpeting and interior paint was on our list to do after we moved here but it will not be possible now. The life expectancy is maybe 5 yrs for my husband. All so hard to thing of. He is 42 now. Our budget has always been tight be somehow we always made it…even more now! We have never been on a nice family trip…ever. We would love to make some sweet memories with daddy/hubby. We had a few dream projects to do here at the house but this will not be possible now. My husband has his entire stomach removed April 2016. Life will never be the same. We just pray that Scott (hubby) can be with us for many yrs yet! God can do a miracle! I have left out many of his surgery, procedures, chemos, radiation details b/c it is so hard to explain and write here. We have been married 16 yrs. I never would have guessed this would be us today.

Thanks for all you do for so many

  3. Hi, My name is Gena and I am on disability and have been since 2006. I had a little boy in 2009 and just recently found out that he has Autism, Mild Intellectual disabilities, and Sever ADHD.
A friend of mine gave me a house in 2014 . So I own it and have the deed. but it needed a lot of work done on it. Well we don't make enough to do anything to it, not the big stuff anyway. We got weatherization but that is not enough.
It floods in the house when it rains. At the bottom. The roof is rotten in the garage and was told that would cost at least 2000 dollars. There are big huge cracks in the foundation inside the house. Ol'shans came out and said they could not do anything. There is an old concrete hot tub outside back about 2 feet from the house that is keeping the water from draining around the back of the house. They say there used to be a swimming pool here that they filled in causing the ground to have big holes and places where water stands in the yard. The siding is literally rotting of the house. The fire place is boarded up so it cant be used due to it separating from the house. There is no central heat or air or duct work in the house so we use space heaters and window units. It needs a new roof and also new guttering and at least the ground graded away from the house so hopefully does not flood anymore.
Really need it fixed so my son can grow up and have a place to live so if and when something happens to me he will have a place to live he is only 7 and will probably have to have a care taker when he gets to be an adult. He goes to school and has since he was 4. He has been in Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy, and Occupational Therapy since he was 2. He was in behavioral Therapy for 6 months when he was 6. He is still in Therapy two days a week after school and in school as well and in life skills and resource.
I am a single mom and disabled my self,, Bipolar, diabetes, thyroid and on and on….
I really wish someone could help us with this I worry all the time.
Begging for someone to help us. I have looked for grants to help us and cant find anything other than the weatherization.
Thank you for your time and consideration

Please help.

  5. Well just like everyone else I'd love to surprise my family.. We moved out into country to gain some land and peace/quiet. We have pastures on our sides for neighbors which is pure bliss. We moved from 1900 sq. Ft to 900 sq. Ft. It's old farm house lord knows it needs a huge makeover which I don't have a clue how to do… I work 12 hr shifts as nurse getting yelled at, need more pillows , its to cold get another blanket, why can't you take me to my room, other side save lives help sick people when needed. I work in emergency room.. I'd love to come home soak in tub after busting my tail sometimes not getting to eat, or hydrate sometimes. Although I love my job?. My little girls see the new home ads ask mommy one day we have that too. I reply "yes babies yes babies mama will try one day." We wouldn't need anything fancy just simple and plain and country… love to change garage which is clutter of feed bags boxes from moving first time into playroom and another bedroom so when my step son comes to visit he will have his own space. My husband I love him to death but handy man he is not. He is an army veteran. He is stay at home dad takes care of our little girls and cows which is his natural therapy.. how it would be such a blessing.. We had horrible experience like own lifetime movie family member doing what they wanted in our home painted our bathroom with this paint now runs down the wall and get on you lol… all we can do is laugh… one day one day we will fix it.. love to put smile on my kiddos faces!!!! Just like everyone else this would be an amazing blessing!!! Good luck to everyone.

  10. There are certain people in this world that tend to put others first before themselves. My mother is one of those people. As a single mother she has always sacrificed her needs for mine and my sister’s needs; she has always been there for her children no matter what. Now she is helping me raise my two children. I have always known her to have a full time job whether it was working at our local schools or in the offices in the oil field industry; she is a very hard worker no matter the outcome and deserves greatness in return.

One truth in this world is things are not always how they seem. My mother’s house from the untrained eye seems perfectly fine; however it has severe foundation problems. It is on an unstable foundation and is starting to cause problems from the top to the bottom; from the walls cracking to the floors heaving and shifting. The most recent shifting of her house could potentially cause her pipes to come undone or her house to catch fire. I am greatly scared for her safety, due to these issues, and I don’t want her to sacrifice her needs any longer. I grew up in this house and have numerous sentimental memories in it, and now my children do are making their own memories, too. Even though her house has issues it still has a welcoming feeling, even more the house has our families heart.

Of all the people I know she is the most deserving. I’m so very fortunate to have the opportunity to call my mother my friend as well.

  11. HI, I am trying to get my moms house remodeled she had a Brain Aneriusm several years back and the house that she lives in is in need of a desperate remodeling. She is currently working at a School District in Human Resources. The house is a great house but again is really in need of remodeling. She is truly an inspiration and a miracle to myself and others. She is always putting others needs before hers and it would be a Blessing to give back to her. Thank You …..

  13. I have a custom built home with a guest cabin on Lake Greenwood S.C. It has a million dollar view overlooking open deep water across from a sandbar. Looking to get renovations to it or possibly sell to a flipper. My husband passed away a few years back and it's just too much to take care of. It is currently listed on Zillow and would be a great project for someone like Matt on Vacation house for free to tackle. Can send address so you can see pictures of it. The name of house is called I love view.

  14. As I type this, my heart breaks. My mother just paid her house off last year, but what she has paid off does not show the worth in it. My mom bought her first and only house she has ever owned 30 years ago after living in government housing for awhile. She was a single mom with three kids when she took this leap. Sadly, she signed on for the first house she saw and indebted herself into a money pit before she ever saw it coming. Two years later, she met my dad and his two children, fell in love, and became pregnant with me. Nine months later, I was born and brought into our loving home, where I would be raised for 23 years before leaving and starting a life of my own. The first few years of my life, my parents worked their butts off while my mom went to school. She obtained her degree and started working for our community's local college and has been there for 20 years. After 38 years of hard work, my dad retired in 2013. He started repairs on the house, but has had no success in completing the work. It is hard to cope with, but my dad has Alzheimer's and is an Alcoholic. The appearance of the house shows because of it. In April of 2016, my mother became sick and had to have an emergency surgery to remove a tumor. She was diagnosed with Stage 2 Ovarian Cancer. October 10th, after 6 months of Chemotherapy, my mother went into remission. I do everything I can to help my parents, especially taking care of my dad. It is hard with being a SAHM of three kids while homeschooling my son. It has especially been hard ever since I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis 8 days after my mom went into remission on October 18th, the day my middle child turned three. I knew something was wrong with me even before that day when I endured a difficult pregnancy with my 6 month old and almost lost her during birth. My parents have always been there for me. They helped me raise my 9 year old for the first 4 years of his life in the very house I was born and raised in. My mom will be coming up on retirement in 6 years and I worry about their current living conditions. Their home falling apart should be one less thing they have to worry about. They spent their life taking care of others without thinking twice about themselves. It has been a tough three years. I watched my parents lose their parents all in the same year. They are all alone now that all the kids are grown with families of their own. Please, Extreme Makeover Home Edition, help my parents! They are so deserving.

  15. Hi, my name is Melissa. I am writing just to take a chance. I am 34 years old. I have a husband and 2 children. I have a 13 year old and a 9 year old. My 13 year old was born with SpinaBifida. She has spent most of her life in and out of the hospital. She has had 54 brain surgeries a bunch of bladder surgeries. Double hip. Leg and foot. Two bowl surgeries. Closure of her back and more. I am unable to work. I have health issues myself. But even if I did not I'd still be have taking care of my daughter. I could not trust anyone else to take care of her the way I have to. She has to have 24 hour care. My husband works when he can. But he gets fired from his jobs when my daughter goes back into the hospital. We have almost lost her a few times. Most resent was right before thanksgiving so she is a fighter. She is in a wheelchair and our home is really not to equipped for her. She smashes her fingers in the door ways. The hall is not wide enough nor are the bathrooms big enough for her. Our home is falling apart. The roof leaks. It freezes in the winter and stays hot in the summer. We have concrete floors. We have tried renovating ourselves but all our money goes to being at the hospital. We really need help. I sit on my bed at night once my girls are asleep just crying and talking to God just thinking what are we going to do because it just gets to much sometimes. My priority is to get my daughter well and get our home in a way to where she can get around and live. Cause right now she can not. She is 13 years old and is a very sad and unhappy little girl. All she knows is pain and the feeling of being trapped. So I'm asking for help please. Well that is all I have to say. Thank you so very much.

  16. HELLO, I AM CERTAIN THERE ARE OTHERS MORE DESERVING OF YOUR HELP THAN THE REQUEST I'M MAKING, HOWEVER IT'S FOR A GROUP OF PEOPLE, A LITTLE CHURCH ACTUALLY, IN TABOR CITY, N.C, FAITH IN ACTION. THE PEOPLE ARE NOT NEAR WEALTHY,JUST SIMPLE WEEK TO WEEK LABORS, WE ARE FEW IN NUMBER BUT VERY BIG IN FAITH, LOVE AND HOPE. WE THANK YOU FOR TAKING TIME TO READ THIS REQUEST AND WE CERTAINLY WOULD BE OVERJOYED TO BE CHOSEN. BLESSINGS TO ALL

  17. To further elaborate on my last post, the basement is very wet, and not only is the water coming in from the bottom 2-3 blocks of the foundation, but it also seems to be coming up from the floor… It wasn't that wet when I went to look at it or have it inspected…
About 8 or 9 years ago, you did a house in Boardman, OH. I was one of the people making the cabinets for that house. I worked at Kraftmaid Cabinetry for 5 years and got laid off 3 times in that short span. That was about the time when the market crashed. My last lay off was on my due date for my youngest… It took me 2 years to find a new job because everyone said I was over qualified because I made too much money at Kraftmaid… I finally had to beg a small town business man to hire me at $8.00 per hour just so I could afford to pay my bills. I loved working there. It was like one big family there. I left for more money after a year, and I cried because I really didn't want to leave them. I have now been at my new job for going on 4 years. However, every time I try to get ahead lately, I seem to fall farther and farther behind because I have to put more money into fixing my vehicles, or I have to go to court for a custody hearing, or something else comes up. Last year, I put a total of about $5000 into my vehicles just to keep them running. I am down to one now. My car has been sitting for a few months because I can't afford to fix it. I'm driving my truck, but it needs fixed too… Currently, my ex-husband had me served papers. He's trying to go for full custody of my oldest. I don't even have the money for a lawyer, so I will be representing myself.
I'm not one to ask for help. Normally I'm the one doing everything I can to help everyone else. I even adopted 3 people for Christmas last year to try to make their year a little brighter. I spent more money on one of the little girls than I did on my own kids because this poor little girl didn't have anything. I got her a new coat, snow pants, a hat and gloves, boots, tennis shoes, dress shoes, some outfits, and a couple other things that she wanted. I like helping others. I'm not used to being on the other end of things, but if you could help me even in the least bit with my house woes, I would be forever grateful.

  18. My name is Elizabeth. I'm a very strong and independent woman. I've always been one to run and jump to help everyone else, but when I need help, I have a very hard time asking. I'm a single mom of two girls ages 15 and 6. I have been divorced twice, and my oldest and I moved 8 times since I divorced her dad in 2005… She has gone to 4 different schools in that time. We just moved for the 9th and final time, since I was finally able to buy a house. I have been saving up for a long time to be able to buy a house that would enable me to better our lives and allow us to dig in our roots. I want a stable and safe home life for my kids. I bought a place out in the country with plenty of woods for them to play in. The house is old. The county auditors don't have a year listed, but the listing had it built in 1900. The property is exactly what I was looking for at the exact price I was looking to spend. The house has got me intrigued as to what it used to be, what the original floor plans were like, and who built it. I LOVE old houses because they have so much character! I love the history of old houses, and can't wait to find out the history of this house. Was it a hospital? Or a mid-wife's house? I don't know, but can't wait to find out… Although, since it's an old house, it obviously needs some repairs, so I got a FHA 203k rehab loan. I took out an extra $5000 on top of the asking price to do the needed repairs that the home inspector and appraiser said needed to be fixed (like replacing the breaker boxes in the basement, repairing the water damage in the second story 2 bedrooms, installing another outlet in the basement to eliminate the use of extension cords, installing baseboard heat in the second floor since there is only one vent in the hallway upstairs that is supposed to heat all 4 bedrooms up there). No big deal, the loan will cover that, and it's guaranteed to get fixed within 6 months of signing on the house. However… I just signed the papers January 3rd, and now that I'm in the house, I'm finding more problems with it. Costly problems that will have to come out of my own pocket… The first week in the house, I couldn't figure out why I couldn't seem to keep heat in there. We were constantly cold, but it has newer vinyl windows. Well, I found that the previous owner left 6 windows cracked open, so that didn't help. But, it was still cold after I closed all the windows. I went into the laundry room, which is an addition off of the kitchen and is at a slant, and it was very drafty, but the windows were closed… I didn't have my washer or dryer hooked up yet since I needed a new plug for my dryer and a new hose for my washer. I found that the cold air was spewing from both the dryer vent and the washing machine drain pipe. Both go into the floor, and since both are spewing cold air, that means that they are not set up to code. The washing machine is draining on the ground directly under the addition, causing the ground to wash away over time, which is why I think the addition is at a slant…
There is extensive water damage upstairs in 2 of the bedrooms around the chimney. The previous owner said it was because the roofing company never put flashing around that chimney, so I had her contact the roofing company that put on her roof to come out and fix it. Once she called me and told me it was fixed, I paid one of my friends at work $200 to repair the water damage. Although, once I moved in, I saw that everything he had done was now ruined. I had the roofing company come out again to look at the roof. As it turns out, it wasn't their fault at all. Evidently, this was a much bigger problem that the previous home owners had been covering up for years. The roofing company took some pictures of the chimney for me, and the mortar is shot… I talked to a couple chimney guys, and they said it might need a complete rebuild…
The furnace is old, but works. Unfortunately, it's a fire hazard since she didn't keep up with it. My first week in the house, it blew black soot through all the registers…
Now, I couldn't look through anything like closets and cupboards as she was still living there at the time that I went to go look at it. so, after I moved in, under the kitchen sink is a disaster. They put a subfloor in the kitchen and bathroom to cover up rotting floors. Evidently, there was a leak under the kitchen sink, so their idea of fixing it was to spray the heck out of the pipes with spray foam… I'm going to have to cut the pipes out to replace them… I'm sure there are other things too that I just haven't found yet, lol.
I'm afraid I won't be able to afford to make the necessary repairs that aren't covered under the loan. I literally have $100 to my name until my next paycheck, and I still need to make repairs to my vehicles… I have been working a ton of overtime, and have nothing to show for it after the down payment and all the fees attached to buying a house…
Please help me to make this house a safe and inviting place for my kids and their friends.

  19. Hello my name and is Ashley I'm a 27 year old mother of three. Ages 9. 8. And 17 months old my fiance and I have been together since we're 16. We currently own our own 3 bedroom home. We live in it at this moment but our home needs work we can't afford . The bad with our home is theirs no insulation at all , the doors don't fit on the frames correctly so in the winter air comes threw the gaps. The kitchen cabinets are literally sliding down the walls. We walk on top of the basement door to get to the basement everyday witch is very dangerous. The tiles we put in n the kitchen and bathed fell apart and there broken tiles threw out our home. But it's our home my kids gave their own rooms and a big back yard we just need help fixing it. My fiance works so hard to support us all and we just can't afford to remodel we are bugging for gel to fix our family home in New Albany Indiana

  21. Hello, My name is Estella
I'm the sixth of 9 children. Like lost i've always wanted to do great things and build my mothet a new home. I'm a singet/song writer, counselor, interpreter for heari g impaired and yadayadayadayada. My mother had a stroke in 2015. I've lived with her for many years and am now her caregiver. She's 89. The house is not in the best condition and the truth is I don't like the community due to urban blight. My mother doesn't walk. We live on a large property. Would you please help and build a beautuful home for my mom that we could be proud of. I do nothing except take care of my mom.
Thank you in advance for every consideration.

  22. Hello. With a family of 4, myself my husband and our two kids we need help. My husband who was forced to quit his dangerous job coal mining is now a underground rock mine operator, who needs some support. Myself in school full time and with 2 kids to take care of, we need some help. With our floors, porch, tub, kitchen and bedrooms falling apart and my husbands job taking away hours we simply can't afford to give our family the best house we need and need to grow. Living in a small town of Junction City Ohio, with 10 acres, we simply don't know what to do with everything we are dealing with. With my graduation from college in May, 2017, we need a miracle as my school budget doesn't help our problems either. Wanting to become a juvenile probation officer we love helping people when and where we can but sometimes just need help ourselves as bills are stacking up, we have a hard place to turn to.
    Sincerely,
    The Browning Family from Ohio.

  23. Hi my name is Shayzihre Inesta I'm from Orlando,Florida and I live with my 39 year old mother. For the last five years it have been a hard time in our lives because we lost out home that we grew up in. And due to that we lived with my grandmother who didn't always treat my mother and my sister and I right. My mother had wotked very hard to tty to always put food on the table but, there would be times that my mom would not eat for days just so my older sister and I could eat. She would go to work hungry and everyone saw how much she was struggling. Then, we had a chance to move out of my grandmother's house to move in with my mother's cousin in Florida. So we moved down from New York City to Florida. But as we thought it was a good idea at the time, it wasn't… My mother's cousin left and left behind a $300 debt that my mother worked to pay off. She tryed to save money to keep food in the hotel that we were living in but that also ment she would walk from Kissimmee to Orlando to her job. Every night she would be so tired and she's always worked hard for me and my sister and I know she always wanted a dream house after watching how much happiness came from watching Extreme Makeover Home Edition. Now we live in a tiny studio that is part of a house that inside we have mold and leaks that also gets us sick. My mom has tried fixing it but it has gotten to the piont where we need a change. This would put a smile on my mother's face and it would so much to her knowing that her child not including my sister because she lives with my aunt due to family issues that she is safe and in a healthy home where she doesnt have to worry about getting sick or being cold during the night because we have many drafts through out the house.

  24. My name is Bill Anderson and I would like to request a extreme Makeover for a small wounded warrior organization here in Missouri. Camp Valor Outdoors is a Wounded Warrior camp started by Major John Schwent, USMC, Ret. on his 50 acre homesite in Kingsville, Mo. Starting there he organized guided hunts and fishing trips for Wounded Warriors in the area on his property and on neighboring properties where he obtained permission from the landowners. With the help of local volunteers he has expanded the program to any Wounded Warriors anywhere who wish to come. The only requirement is that they have a Purple Heart citation or a VA letter of Disability percentage. Te entire trip is paid for by donations from fund raisers conducted by local Veterans Service Organizations. All of the Staff and Volunteers are unpaid. All monies raised go to the Warriors. Being a small town area there is very little space to house the warriors and staff when they are in camp, John built a building to act as storage out of his pocket then got volunteers and donated materials to build a 6 bed bunkroom, Handicap bathrooms, a wheelchair accessable shower, and a small kitchen and seating area in the building. Unfortunately the main building is not insulated and is a Pole barn constructed building with steel walls. When attempting to heat the building the walls sweat so badly that there are puddles of water on the floor. Additionally, the heat is being provided by propane patio heaters which are in adequate for heating that large space. Now the small motel where staff were paying to stay is closing so there is no place close for staff to stay. John works tirelessly to provide for the Wounded Warriors and to ensure that any Veteran has an opportunity to bond with other Veterans to help reduce the suicide levels of Veterans. We want to make the camp a year round camp with out the Warriors and the volunteer Staff having to spend their time cold and having to mop up water etc. Our dream would be to get a used cargo container in place to use for the storage of equipment now being stored in the bunkhouse, get the last of the graveled area in the bunkhouse poured in concrete, the walls and ceiling insulated with spray foam insulation, then covered with wood carsiding, making the bunk house a lodge type atmosphere for the Warriors. We would like to install an outdoor wood furnace to provide the heat for the bunkhouse. We also want to upgrade the small kitchen to have 2 wall ovens and a center island area to make it more functional. Lastly we want to convert Johns basement to a staff bunkroom by putting in a bathroom and sealing the concrete walls. Our priority when we raise funds is to provide transportation, ammo, food, housing etc to the Warriors. this doesn't seem to leave much for doing improvements for them. It recently tool 2 years to raise the $15000.00 to purchase a Tank Chair so we can have our wheelchair bound warriors be able to get around the property unassisted. Please consider this worthy organization for a makeover. We can get lots of volunteers from the Veteran Service Organizations and Whiteman AFB personnel. Thank you.

  25. Hi my name is Amanda I think I would be a good candidate for extreme makeover home edition. My reasons for this is because me and my boyfriend have a 1 year old together and we live with his parents. We have some land to move our trailer on the land is located about a mile from where we live now. The problem is the single wide trailer we have is in his parents backyard. It is their old trailer that they used to live in and it's not even ready to live in. It needs so many things to make it work. We have spent hundreds of dollars in paint for the inside which has new sheet rock walls in it. We have bought linoleum flooring that doesn't even stick even though the package said it was self adhesive there are still parts of the walls that need work done to make it safe for our daughter marlie jane. We don't have the plumbing pipes that we need. It is really dirty and nasty inside the trailer from dirt and rain getting inside. It needs new counte tops and moldings. It may not seem like it is very expensive to fix this house but when you don't work and your boyfriend is the only one working and providing for us while I search for a job it gets really expensive. I would be forever grateful if yall could help us turn our house into our home. We really need this so that we can continue tonto add to our family and maybe I wouldn't be so depressed if me my daughter and my boyfriend wasn't living out of a bedroom in his parents house. Please please help me I need my home I need to be the mother and wife I can be and having our own home will do that for me it would help my family so much because we need the space please help us. Please.

My name is Mykayla, I'm reaching out to you guys because we had our house given to us by my mom, it's a decent sized house but we have a girl that is 15 & has been kicked out of her house for becoming pregnant & her mom doesn't agree with it & with that we have our 2 year old also. We do not have room in such a small house for all of this & I do not want to make this girl move out & have nobody at all. Please please get back to me, I know my story isn't that important but I'm just asking for help. 38. My name is Dumbiwe Hara Kapito, a Malawian Nationality and working for a Railway Logistics company here in Malawi as a Community Relations Analyst.

I have passion for my job and I love to hear stories from the local people that I am constantly in touch with due to the nature of my job.

Malawi is one of the poorest countries in the world and a lot of people live below the poverty line and at the moment our economy seem not to have any immediate solution of recovering. In the past most people used to be cushioned by Government in most of their farming activities but at the moment it has proved to be difficult.

As earlier indicated my work involves talking to the local people and what I have observed on a personal level is that most people are in dire poverty some do not have normal houses to live in, it is quite a challenge to see children sitting or being housed in a leaking or something we cannot even call home at all.

I have watched your programmes on TV and have seen what you have done for other people in the USA to alleviate their poverty and I am very certain that if these same programmes can be implemented in a country like Malawi many people's lives will be changed for the better.

I would be very happy to see people in our country wearing a smile on their faces and I am even ready to volunteer for such projects.

  40. Hello, my name is Sandra and in 2004 my home in California had a landslide. I was in the 4th grade at that time and had to be evacuated the same day along with my family. It is now 2016 and my home is still now fixed, 12 years of me basically being homeless. My childhood was completely ruined having to live with one family member to another. My father who is 65 years of age and has heart problems has been hiring contractors who scam him and steal his money. They leave us with many empty promises. All i want is to be able to say i live in my own home. The city has not allowed us to move into our home until it is fixed. I have been waiting 12 years to be able to have my own home. At this point i can only do so much, i truly feel bad for my father and i cry for him everyday. He is 65 years old being played around with his money by various contractors. I really need you to get involved with this one. Much love from California.

  42. Hello my name is Sherrell and I am sending this for a family that I have come to know. Their names are Sarah & Tim Smith. They live in Lock haven, PA. I met them late Spring of last year and they are a family of 6 which includes two adopted kids. Tim just turned 35 years old and He was Diagnosed with GBM4 Glioblastoma almost 2.5 years ago on his sons birthday, What a birthday present right. Since then He has had 4 Brain surgeries, and his most recent MRI confirmed that there are several more spots again. His wife Sarah works for herself cleaning homes and being a caregiver to her husband and kids and their 2 dogs. Their story was featured on LovenotLost.org. I never met a couple more genuine and selfless. They have to travel to NY just to get good Brain Cancer care and Tim had to close his business once he found out he had Brain Cancer and needed emergency surgery to save his life. I dont know they stay so strong being so young and with so much going on in their family. I watch Sarah try to make the home accommodating for Her husbands illness and I can only offer supportive friendship. They manage to continue to have joy and not show defeation from his Brain Cancer and their life change. I watched Sarah knock out walls in their home and sand walls trying to make their home comfortable as the family deals with knowing one day their dad and her husband wont be physically with them anymore. My family is new to the PA area and Tim & Sarah have been welcoming to us. As I write this I am in tears cause I know that one day they will be hurting, so I am asking if there is anyway you could help the inside of their home be as beautiful as the love and unity I witness in their family .. Please … I know there is nothing more I could do, but this would mean EVERYTHING to their family.

  43. Hello, my name is amanda, I am not requesting this for myself but for someone very near a dear to my heart. I help take care of a young man named Robert "bobby" edwards. Boby is on of the most fantastic people I have ever met. He is 23 years old and absolutely amazing. But unfortunately when bobby was much younger he began to have terrible headaches. After a while it was apparent that something was wrong. Test where ran and they weren't good bobby had a brain tumor. He was sent for surgery immediately. Since then he has been through many things. He's no longer able to speak much, walk further than a few steps, or do anything without a lot of help from others. He's been through over 20 different surgeries in less than 10 years. WhIle bobby is very well cared for by his mother grandmother father and 2 care givers, due to all his medical expenses they have had to let things on the house go. The back room has had to be completely closed off from the rest of the home, the stove room has a leaky roof. And among other things there isn't really aNY room for bobby to move around while he is up on his chair. His bed has to be in the living room because there isn't enough room in the bed rooms. Tracey (bobbys mom) has tried working on and off but bobby really needs her at home with him. This would be a huge blessing to this wonderful family, especially such an amazing young man like bobby.

  46. I am writing this on behalf of my mother; approx. 15 years ago she bought land, and put up a log house on top of a furnished basement. She has been living in the basement since then, and has not been able to afford to complete the upper(main floor), as she had over-extended her credit and then basically ran out of money.
She has been retired now for almost ten years and is still living in the finished basement, on a fixed income, so she is not able to afford to do any major work on the home.
She has very limited mobility, due to past surgeries on her feet, and she also needs further surgeries, so is unable to walk very far or for very long periods of time. I don't want her to end up living down there for the rest of her life, and unfortunately I am also unable to help her out financially; I am able to help with doing chores around there, and helping with minor repairs.
I would very much like to see her happy and living in the house that she has literally put her blood, sweat and tears intoh
Please, if there's anything that you could do to help me, I would very much appreciate it, and please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions.
    Thank you!
    Gregg Madlon

  47. Hello Cast and Crew of Extreme Makeovers: Home Edition,
I am nominating my parents to be blessed by a miracle, given by you. A little about them. First off they live in a little town where they give more than they have. My mom works at the school, she runs the program that is called "Gifts of Hope" which provides children of the community with presents for Christmas if their families are in need, ensuring each child gets a Christmas. Even if it means an unplanned shopping trip on Christmas Eve. She is constantly volunteering in the community. There house is beyond being a fixer upper. It needs to be bull dozed and rebuilt. They never complain and appreciate the roof (which is what keeps the house standing) over their heads. They have always left the door open for anyone of their 9 combined children that had needed a place to live. Please help them. Please I beg. There is more to their story. Please contact me to hear it in full. Thanks for all the wonders you do.

  48. Hello, My name is Rev Clifford Tucker, We are setting up a homeless shelter that would serve the needs of the homeless people in our community. We are a non profit and we had a building donated but need to make repairs to get it ready for people. This would be a great help to our community and the people that are surrounding us.

  49. My name is Brandy. I live with my mother and father and my two year old daughter in Nakina, NC. December of 2013 our kitchen caught fire. We cannot afford insurance. With the help of the Red Cross we fixed our home as best we could. Our house is a single wide trailer built in 1984 I think. And parents have built on to it over the years. But since the fire its just went down hill. Then this past October Hurricane Matthew did a lot of damage. Fema helped us to fix my room where the ceiling had fell in but thats it. All together the house is missing insulation, thw floors are bowing and rotting out, and we have mold issues. We need a new home but have no way of purchasing one or fixing this one. And my parents have worked so hard to keep it up but they just cant. My Dad's on complete disability and my Mom works 40+ hours a week and we still barely make ends meet. I wish we could get help like this.

  50. I am writing to get help for my 89 year old mom and 67 year old brother. My brother has a double wide trailer that is at least 28 years old. He has attempted to repair the floor since it actually dropped to the ground in the kitchen. He has not had heating in the home for over two years or air conditioning. The trailer has become molded in several areas. It seems that the trailer is falling around them. They place space heaters to warm up the bedrooms. My brother is taking care of our mother for some time. She is now beginning to loss control of her bladder or urine. He cry's all the time. Scared that he may find her dead any day now. The house honestly if inspected would be declared inhabitable. The house is so destroyed that she can no longer even go out to the front of the trailer. Because its unstable and impossible for her to walk down those huge stone stairs. I don't know what to due since she She spends her day in a chair or her bed since the house is so inhabitable. The fridge is broken and tiles are falling in the kitchen. My mom fell through the floor and had a black eye and bruised body. Thank God she did not break any bones. The pictures I have tried to take without them noticing cant capture the conditions of this mobile home. They live in Seal Alabama which is really away from major stores and hospitals. I have never asked for help before, but this is more than can handle and cant bear my mother and brother living like this. I don't want to take away his pride. But no one should live in a molded, dirty, holes that they fall through and plaster that is also crumbling. If we would be so lucky to get you to see how they live you would understand that my words don't come close to how bad it is and how they are trying to survive. I pray that this letter is read and we can get some help. God Bless. Cynthia

  51. Hi my name is Jakayla Washington and i live with my grandparents and we need help on christmas day my grandfather got sick and had to go to the hospital and the doctor said that he had a light heart attack and our house is mess up inside in out so please help us out.

  52. Hi, my name is Terri, let me start by saying that I do believe in miracles and I felt to share my parents' story. I am from Port Elizabeth in South Africa. I will try my best to summarize their story. My mom divorced our biological father about 22 years ago. She was then raising my brother and I as a single mom with the help of my grandmother. We had it tough growing up and because of that we both did our best at school but realized that our mom was still not happy. She then met my dad who was in a wheelchair at that time. He is a policeman and had been shot due to negligence by someone cleaning a gun. He was quite young when it happened and had to undergo numerous operations. I am not 100% sure of all the details, but all I know is that he had spent a very long time in hospital trying to re-cooperate. He then continued as a police officer once he recovered enough to help himself. My mother met him while working in the same building which he was stationed at. They soon fell in-love, and he asked her to marry him. This was a big adjustment to say the least, as my brother and I were quite protective of my mother after what had happened with our biological dad, but we saw how happy they were and it was all that mattered. They soon got married and my mom was quite the helper since he had troubles with certain tasks. We all got involved, my brother, myself, my step-sister and my granny would assist where we can, even as young as we were. This we got used to, until the day my mom had a stroke, she was admitted to the hospital and could not move her left side. This was a new adjustment, but together we made it work as we tried assisting her to gain mobility. One day my mom had sent my sister and I, and we were mugged and held at knife-point, needless to say we were in shock and ran home in tears. Strangely enough, who would have thought that our shock and tears would trigger my mother to start moving her left side, as she rushed from the kitchen toward the front door she did so without her walking frame. Recovery was then in motion; we were daily amazed at what God was doing. My dad who was in the wheelchair but he was my mom's helper. My family had so much negativity toward her marrying a disabled man, but he was really heaven sent. She almost gained full mobility despite slight residues from the stroke. They were then much better, and happy, but not for long. My mom and dad were involved in an accident, a truck had hit the front of the car they were in, but we were so happy that no major injuries had occurred. Not long after, my mom woke up one morning screaming in pain, my brother and I were immediately called the ambulance, and rushed her to hospital. I still remember that day so clearly, we had to go to school, but both were in shock not knowing what was happening. We then went to visit later in the day, and after running the tests, the Dr had told her they need to act fast and amputate her left leg else she would die. She was so calm and said, cut it. She was a diabetic, and they had to, before it spread. They cut off her leg at the knee, but when the Dr came to check the following day he said that it had already spread, and that they had to remove another portion. The removed another portion leaving about 2/3 of her upper thigh. The same story, when the Dr came to check he said it had spread, this time he was concerned. My mom then told him to remove the full limb including the joint in the socket, to avoid it happening again. The Dr then did the 3rd surgery, all this happened within a space of a few days. When she came out of the Dr said that all went well. Finally, we thought things were better. She started recovering and as sent home, only to have another concern, that due to the big incision her wound was not healing well and the diabetes was hindering the healing. She soon picked up infection and had to be treated. I believe God then did us a favor as we were not ready to lose her yet. She slowly started recovering, each day got better, but due to her size is unable to walk and the fact that the entire ball joint had been removed, she is now too also limited to a wheelchair. Amazingly God had this planned, by giving her a husband that needed care, he was now able to help her and be patient and supportive through this period. She has been a housewife since then, and he has been supporting us. We are now grown and are married, but one thing we are unable to get to is having them settle in a home that is wheelchair friendly. Daily battles are seen even when going to a shop, and with their limitations they are quite frustrated that they cannot do everything on their own. We have tried to modify their current home as best as we could to make it accessible, but they still need us to assist. We really don’t mind, but because we have to travel quite distance to them, they get frustrated even more. To add to their load, they are caring for my 87-year-old grandmother who is living with them in this home. We really would love to help them, but as married couples we needed to move out. My husband and I lived with them for years, before moving and I do believe it was another big adjustment for them. The area which they live in currently is one that gunshots are a regular occurrence, and because of that they would love to sell, but the problem now is that none of the homes are able to accommodate 2 wheelchairs, even the current home, as they would always bump into each other and the walls for lack of space. We would love them to come over and visit, but due to all three of our homes being completely inaccessible for wheelchairs, that is not a viable option. My dad is so passionate about us spending time as a family but we are no longer living close. He does so much for our family, I truly believe he deserves more, with all that he has done and is still doing. If having a safe living environment and having independence to move freely, even just being able to shower is what will do that, I pray that we can somehow make this happen for them. Could you please help? We always watch your shows and admire the things you do; I would understand if it’s not possible being on a different continent. But in all, I would like to thank you for all the good you and your team are doing. It really gives a sense of hope!! God Bless you, may your 2017 be filled with favor and love!!

  54. Our home caught fire on July 23rd, 2016 due to lightening and was declared a natural disaster. We lost everything in our home and only had the clothes on our backs. Thankfully no one or none of our animals were hurt. We did lose a few fish in the fire. Also my 2015 Chevy Equinox was completely destroyed. We spent 69 days in a hotel and are currently living in a camper in the back of our property behind our burnt home. We are still battling with the insurance company for a settlement 6 months later. I lost my job because they were not understanding of the difficulties I was facing with no clothes, no vehicle and trying to get back to a somewhat normal life. Financially and Emotionally this has been devastating and extremely hard. We would give anything to get back into a home again!! My husband's children have been living with their mother full time since we just don't have room in our camper. This has effected their relationship. We just want to get back to normal living conditions and can't due to finances and fighting with the insurance company.

  55. Please update the application, it says 2009. I really don't want to get my hopes up if this is not real. Please let me know.

  56. Hi my name is corey and 33 year old man with really nothing to loose at this point. Even though i am struggling tremendously in my life currently. I am not here for me i am here for my mother. Her name is lydia brooks a mother of three two boys one girl. Girl being the oldest. me being the youngest. I grew up very close to my siblings and my parents. My mother was always there but things changed when my brother got murdered. My mother took it very hard as well as myself . And the rest of the family knowing we just had a family memebr just die from AIDs. We were still grieving. But had to cope with the pain my mom did and she went back to work and 2 years later my sister dies from the same AIDS disease my cousin just passed from. After this she was very broken and i couldnt fix any of her pain. Because at the same time my father is divorcing her. I am very hurt througjout all this also but but i just lost my brother and sister and im only 15 but i stay strong for my family or atleast i do my best. So a year later my grandmother dies and the whole family is again in grieving mode but at the same time i see my mother loosing faith because of all she has lost. Me i am thinking the same thing but again i have to stay strong . All this time my mother is staying 2 hours away from the family home town. My mother had lost her job and was having trouble finding working and started loosing faith. im doing all i can to keep her spritz up but pain is pain and i feel it myself everyday but i do my best and its not so easy for my mother feeling like shes lost everything. But at this same time my grandpa started getting real sick she got scared and moved back with my grandpa and maybe a month or 2 my grandpa died. Very heavy blow for my mother. I am her only child left and i cant even tell you why i cry everyday or where my pain comes from i know that this house of my grandmother and grandfather is the oldest house and probably the most dangerous to live in . The mold and mildew everywhere. It got so bad she only can really go in the house. I told myself i was gonna try to remodel somethings like the bathroom but its impossible to do. Just impossibly dangerous. Im scared to clean because im not even sure whats on the walls. I love my mother any good son should try to do something to help even if its asking for help. She works at the local community center with kids. It would be a miracle if someone could just come by and inspect the house and see if its safe. Recommended some county assistance if that even possible. I am at a point in my life where i lost everything to but i dont have nothing to loose but family or my life..i am a real big family guy. Family means so much to much i cry everytime i think about how much i love them and how much i miss the ones thats gone. When my family members started dying back to back the rest of the family i thought would have came together but life being so rough and everyone trying to make a living we not only was in pain but we not being a family no more. Our house is still standing its just not as strong as it used to be. Just like my family we still family but not close family like we used to be. I think this house will not only help my mother regain peace of mind but also bring my whole family come together again. I have been away from my home town for a while but i came back to see how my mom was doing and i broke down in tears. I really need some help with trying to make my mom happy of her last child thats barely making it his self. I do my best to stay positive even though so much negative is keeping me away from my dreams. I had so many dreams as a kid. Now all i dream about is not having to think about if my mom is ok or if im gonna be next….i lost everything recently so loosing my mother to some mold or something is not gonna happen i pray… my family is very big on feeding people . Dont matter who you are if you hungry you eating because we love people. We have fun through the pain but the fact is we still in pain because the house is falling apart. Love for family is real…

  57. I would like home makeover because the house need so many updates we don't have the funds to up grade our house. If we could just up grade the bathrooms I would be very greatful. 58. Hello, my name is Katie im 30 years old and I have a rare genetic disease called Ehlars Danlos Syndrome I have frequent dislocations all over my body at any time. I am currently able to work with minimal accomidations but living day to day is a struggle I also have Post Orthastatic Tachycardia where if i move too quickly I get real dizzy and have passed out before but it is now controled with medication. Unfortunately there is no treatment or cure for Ehlars Danlos Syndrome there are days I cant take a shower because its just not accessible you see all my blood pools in my extrimities and my legs turn blue which makes me get dizzy so I have to sit in the bathtub with the wand to take a shower. My stairs are very steep and my bedroom is in the basement because i let my mom stay up stairs when needed she is a widow and is worried about me so she likes to stay between her n my home. I was forced to divorce my husband due to him running off with his mistress and randsacking the home while I was on a weekend vacation with my mom came home and everthing was gone I didnt even know there were issues in our marraige. It seems that ive been delt alot but I see so many worse things in my daily job of being a social worker but I would just like my home to be more accessible for me as this disease progresses. Its rather scary to be so young and not knowing whats next my dad passed away from this at age 57. I would also really like to get the back yard fixed the grading is toward the house and it floods in basement when it rains hard. Id also really love to get a small workout pool for me so I can excercize without worring about getting hurt in a gym. I appriciate all of your considerations and big heart to do these good things for such good people. God Bless

  59. Hello there, My name is Tasina. I am 23years old with three amazing children and my husband. My oldest son is Michael hes 4years old now and Ive missed out on his life and being a mother. My son had neutropenia when he was just 8 months old he almost died, I almost lost him. I was angry at myself. He couldn't stay with us because we lived with my mother in-law and she had quite a number on animals. I couldnt put him in that situation. He stayed with my mom and she basically raised him.
I got pregnant with my daughter Helena, shes about to be 3years old. She is a very caring child and hates to see anybody hurt, very sweet and just loving.
Alexander, is my baby boy. He just turned 1years old and I am so very Thankful to God for him. When I was pregnant with him I was in the hospital non-stop. He wasnt supposed to make it, because my body had been trying to give birth to him when his lungs weren't developed. I had to be put on steroids and given medicines and and an ivy just to to keep him from coming out early. I was in the hospital weekly.
I had been going to School but we moved because my husband got layed-off of work. His dad offered him a job and to help us. It was alot and that I thank him for.
We moved into our own place, but we have some roommates. Our 2 friends Otto and Chelle they need help so we gave them a place to stay. They have a 2year old son as well and we just didnt want him to stay at a shelter or put him in a bad situation.
Then we have another friend Jack whos staying here, because its closer for him to seeing his daughter who is an hour away.
The hard part is that we are just making it with Rent, bills and food and one working vehicle. Its hard all of us. Chelle has no car and shes the one who is supporting her son, her job doesn't pay alot.
    Jack just started working.
All these thing have been piling on my husband and hes been depressed and I just wish I could find some way to make it all better on him, but I feel like I cant even no matter how hard I try.

  62. My name is Danielle and my husband name is Calvin. We have been together for 33 years, since the age of 16 years old. I was diagnosed with Sarcodosis in 2007, then a few years ago I was also diagnosed with severe Rhemotoid Arthritis and fibromyalgia in which I had to retire early at the age of 46 years old on disability due to my illness from my employment with the Veteran's Hospital after many wonderful years. Since then my husband had to work long days and hours to keep up with all our financial responsibilities in which he hasn't had any time to do any repairs or updates to our home he purchased in 2012. We are unable to use the shower in our master bedroom due to pipes need to be replaced. Since the purchase of our home he hadn't had anytime to replace any of the carpet or paint the walls. We have buckets under the water faucets to the washing machine to catch the leaking water which has to be dumped several times a day. At purchase we were told that the brackets on the back deck will need to be replaced for safety but that to is on his list that hasn't been completed, our garage doors are needed to be replaced with openers but has pad locks currently in there place, our window are the original wood windows that were there when the house was built in 1969, the same with both sliding doors on the deck and bottom patio in which the wind blows through all along with other things that need updating such as curb appeal. I would love for my husband to have some of his stress removed due to issues with our home so that he will not worry so much about my health living in those elements.

  63. I am applying to help my parents as their house is falling apart..Both my parents have been hard working to raise me as I am now a mother of 7. My dad has been employed at his job for 23 years and still only makes $13.00 an hour as my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer 7 years ago. Went through intense chemotherapy and radiation and is now in remission. .Everyday is a battle for them as my mom now struggles with pneumonia in just a blink of an eye. My dad has been through all the ups and downs with my mom and has been her biggest support team my Ganda passed away 4 years ago and left her home to both my parents as the fence is falling down electricity outlets don't work and u walk on the floor and it creeks and crackkes.it would definitely be a blessing from the man above to help my parents take a big load of their shoulders and bless them with a homemakover..As I pray to win the lottery one say to help many as my parents would be the first.Thank you for the opportunity to share the story of my parents with you.I definitely know God is Good.

  64. I need and want your help I am so sick of the way I look after being sick!! my weight is out of control I'm a 22 year old that has lost my way and myself confidence I need help..

  65. Hi, my name is Christine, and I have 4 beautiful children. After 6 years of a hard marriage. I knew it wasn't safe for the children. So I ended up living with my parents. My mother got ill with Brest cancer, and past a way. A few years later after my mother died. My father couldn't handle living his life with out my mother. He had a major heart attack. Me and my children always had to live with someone else. We never had the chance to have a home and call it our own. My children have a hard time learning in school cause we been to one place or another. I started working, a steady job and they cut my hours tremendously. I now work 2 hours a day. I'm looking for jobs and my vehicle is falling apart. My ex husband doesn't help and I'm out of options looking for a mirical. I pray everyday for hope. I hope and pray one day to have a home of my own. Please help if you can.

  66. Where shall I begin??? I am a single woman who purchased a home a couple of years ago and hired a contractor from hell. He started off ok then it went downhill from there. I wanted to convert it to a 4 unit home to rent along with me living there. The contractor only filed a permit for construction and electrical. Keep in mind I have never done this before and I was learning as time progressed. I found out that he didnt pull other permits, never filed for inspections for safety reasons, put the wrong size pipes for plumbing, took material from other jobs and put into my home and I had to fire him so I was unable to finish in time with the bank. I had to keep asking them for extensions and look for another contractor to finish the reno (he wasn't so good either) but I was so annoyed and turned off at everyone that i just needed my home liveable. Up to this day, I haven't gotten my C of O because I have no more money to finish and the house is not to my liking. No one would give me a loan because of my income to debt ratio. My floors weren't leveled, my sprinkler system needs fixing and I am at my wits end. I am so scared to hire anyone nor do I trust them. I can write a book on my experience that still has not been done and how much I have learned the renovation portion of owning a home all by myself. I am in need of an extreme makeover.

  67. hallo Ty

I have my own family story i would realy like to share with you if you could find the time in your heart to have a

  68. Hi my name is Brian Bradley my wife and I live in Moselle Missouri, which is a very small town outside of St. Louis mo. Felicia my wife and I joke with the neighbors all the time bout me being the mayor of Moselle. It's a small town so somebody has to be a leader. Felicia and I have a growing family and a shrinking house but we have a game plan! It's more long term than short term, but we'll get it done. We have a carport attached to the side of the house that we are turning it into two bedrooms for baby Andrew and Annabelle, in order to make room for new addition mr. Abram due in March! We live down a private drive where there are four houses and we all treat each other like family and have great relationships! My neighbors are mr. Herb Ryan and Mel, mr. Gerard Hugeback, and mr. and Mrs. Lee and Ellen Rowe, they all have offered to help and are willing to help in any way they can! Mr. Hugeback has supplied all the lumber for the bedrooms and mr Lee Rowe is planning on putting all the electric work for us and Herb has supplied nails and screws, these neighbors are all over 60 years old, and Felicia and I are in our 30's it's a great time here we love it! We have discussed looking for a bigger home but this is our home and a perfect place for the kids to be in nature and have the freedom to play in the woods! Please consider us! I wish I could show some pictures! We love the show by the way!

  70. I have some one in my community that needs help in an extreme way. A week before Christmas a young mother was murdered, her youngest son in the home while it happened. Another child getting off the school bus finding her. The father of four children now homeless and widowed just before Christmas. His parents whom are the best trying to house everyone. Now his parent are the parents that if there kid had a friend who had a problem they could go to them. They have always gave and never asked for anything in return. But they need help in so many ways. And I think that if they could get a home in which 9 people could fit it might put them on a path of healing. He needs his mom and dad now more than ever and they really do not have the means to do everything. These poor kids need a safe and loving environment so they can grieve and heal for this is going to haunt them. I am asking because I know they would not. “She was fulfilling what she wanted to do, and being a mom.”

Leah Suarez said all her daughter-in-law, Amanda Gayle Suarez, wanted to do in life was get her high school diploma and have children.

Amanda Suarez on her wedding day.
When Christopher William Shows allegedly murdered Amanda on Dec. 7 sometime between noon and 12:30 p.m., he snuffed out all of the young mother’s dreams.

“She was a good mom and never had any ill will toward anyone. She never had a driver’s license. She was perfectly content being home and being a mom,” said Leah.

Now Leah, and her husband Joe, are trying to take care of their son, Mathew, along with his four children who are now without a mother.

“Our son is just filled with rage over this — we all are. We just can’t imagine this here, and to our family. It’s just unimaginable,” said Leah. “She was as sweet as the day is long. This isn’t how it’s supposed to be.

“It’s just breaking my heart to have to go through this for all the kids — to see the destruction this one selfish act caused,” he added.

Mathew, 29, and Amanda, 25, were married just a little over 4 years and they had four children: Chandler, 11; Charlie, 9; Hayden, 4; and, E.J., 2. When Amanda married their dad, she happily became “Mom” to the two older boys.

Amanda did not have an outside job. She chose to stay home and take care of the children while Mathew, a contractor for Century Link, went to work early and didn’t get home until late.

As Leah talked about the unthinkable tragedy, the emotion begins to take over when she mentions what Charlie and E.J. went through. While all four of the children are having to deal with devastation few people ever know, those two have the most with which to deal.

As Shows was attacking Amanda in the N.W. Third Street home where she lived with her family, E.J. was in one of the bedrooms.

“All the baby will say now is he’s scared. We know he saw. And what he didn’t directly see, he heard,” Leah said.

But even as horrendous as that is, it’s Charlie who will likely have the hardest time coping. He actually walked in the house after school and saw Amanda lying on that kitchen floor in a puddle of her own blood.

Leah explained that Amanda was actually found by her sister who, after finding the body, grabbed up E.J. and ran on foot to a nearby convenience store to call for help. While she was gone, Charlie’s school bus rolled up and let the 9-year-old out. Unsuspecting, he opened the door and walked into the home just like he has every other day of the school year.

But, this wasn’t like any other day.

“Charlie got off the school bus and went into the home, then he ran out screaming,” recalled his grandmother.

She doesn’t know exactly how he did it, but Charlie called his grandfather’s cell phone. Leah said he was screaming and crying.

A few minutes later, a cousin drove up after picking up Hayden at her school and found Charlie just walking around in the yard.

“Thank the Lord someone had the forethought to call the other school and get Chandler off the school bus. I ran over and got him and explained to him what happened,” said Leah, now struggling with her emotions. “The kids are fairly comatose from the whole thing.”

Fortunately, she continued, some friends helped out recently and took the two older children to Universal Studios in Orlando.

Leah said the children are seeing a therapist regularly, but their son has yet to reach out for help.

“Right now he’s just angry, angry, angry,” she said.

But as the family tries to sort through all of their emotions there’s still a major hurdle staring them all in the face — Christmas.

“It’s going to be a struggle, in terms of getting through the day,” Leah noted. “I’m off the next two weeks, so I can control the environment and put them in a safe place.”

Through it all, she said, there has been a ray of shining light — friends.

“We’ve just been overwhelmed with offers of help. The funeral is almost paid off — we owe just a little over $2,000. Now, we have to figure out if we’re going to purchase a home nearby or add on to our current home. We’re hanging from the rafters,” said the fourth-grade teacher with nine people now living in a five-bedroom home. “The kids lost their mom and house the same day.”

Mathew and Amanda were renting their home.

First, said Leah, their home was damaged in a hurricane. Then, two years ago, she nearly died having back surgery. And, she’s had to have four more surgeries since then. Now she and her husband are trying to take care of a houseful of people and, Mathew’s two pet snakes.

When asked what kind of snakes they were, she replied she didn’t know. But, she was quite adamant when she said they weren’t staying in the house. She said they are keeping the reptiles on the porch.

With all that’s happened, Leah has gone back to teaching fourth grade in a local elementary school while Joe works in the probation division of the U.S. District Court Southern District of Florida in West Palm Beach.

“We just don’t have the means we would normally have,” offered Leah.

Because of that if people want to donate, the family asks that those donations be monetary. Those donations can be left at Elite Office Services, 1210 S.W. Second Ave. They are located directly behind the Dairy Queen restaurant. The family has also set up a Go Fund Me account to help (www.gofundme.com/suarez-family-support).

As Leah, Joe, Mathew and the kids all try to deal with this sudden upheaval in their lives it only serves to remind them of what has happened. And, what Shows has done to the entire family.
“I’ve been trying to find words to describe this monster,” she said.

And they’ve all been trying to come up with one answer that continues to elude them — why?
“Why us? Why her? Why here? Why our family? These are things we just don’t understand,” said Leah. “Amanda didn’t have an enemy — everybody loved her.

“But, we’re focused on taking care of her children. We will not let this monster win!”

  72. Hi! My name is Katelyn! I Dont have a home or vehicle & my husband has recently told me & my 3 girls to leave his home. I'm also 3 months pregnant. He made me lose my job so I'm getting VERY low on money. I have no family nor friends to lean on & I'm stuck with nowhere to go & no way to get there.. My girls are 9, 7, & 5 . this is affecting them in so many ways & I'm so ready for a fresh start & for them to be happy again! They deserve it all! I'm a domestic violence survivor & I would be more then blessed to have a home for my kids to grow up in & something to call our own. We Dont need any vacation or anything fancy just something that would be ours to go home to everyday. I know & understand this is a extreme long shot at getting a home but anything is possible & anything is worth a try.. Right?

  74. My name is Ashley and my mom is living in run down manufactured home. The floors are sinking in and she has so stuff she hasnt even touched in years. She is working only part time at the home depot. Her stove doesnt work and we can't afford to get her a new one. We lost my dad in 2015 and she has just went down hill. There are 2 kids at home still helping with all her bills, but I'd like to get her out of this mess and rebuild her home to beautiful and some place she can really look forward to coming to.
