Divergent will be based on the first entry in author Veronica Roth’s planned trilogy of hugely popular young adult novels. The story is set in a futuristic Chicago where the city’s population is divided into five different different groups that hold certain specific values (peace, selflessness, intelligence, honesty and courage)  above all else. Beatrice Prior was born in The Abnegation (selfless) faction and as she comes upon her sixteenth birthday, the time when she and all sixteen year old citizens must decide which faction (or virtue) they will devote the rest of their lives to, she must make the decision of her life. Will she stay with her family or leave to find her true self? What will her life’s secret mean to her decision and to those around her? these questions and more will be answered in this amazing new film franchise from  the studio that brought you the amazing Twilight Saga. Shailene Woodley, the rising star of The Secret Life of the American Teenager and The Descendants, has been announced for the lead role of Beatrice/Tris but there are many more incredible casting opportunities for up and coming performers of all ages.
